06:18And no chance for the linebacker
06:19right there to get Jordan Mason
06:22Tommy Eikenberg there had no chance
06:24to get him in space good cut
06:31Sincere McCormick comes in for
06:32Jordan James
06:34McCormick with a strong run for
06:36the 49ers six yards for him
06:40Former Raider himself
06:42Well these these two
06:44franchises have seen a lot of
06:47players over the years and
06:48coaches and broadcaster
06:53but just file that away for
06:55later when it comes to the
06:56trivia question of the night
06:58got it
07:04James back in Hayden Rucci
07:07tight end sets up in front of
07:08him
07:11and James spins off contact
07:14it's gonna be third and short
07:16again back to the vision because
07:18I mean that was a tough block for
07:20Drake Nugent right in the middle
07:22into that hole just to the right
07:23of him
07:27and you're gonna see right here
07:29he's I mean this is gonna be a
07:30tough block for for Nugent with a
07:32shade right there but watch Jordan
07:33James he's gonna see that hole
07:34close right there bounce
07:37get out to the edge Jordan
07:38Markins trying to get a block and
07:39then spins at the last minute to
07:41get it closer
07:46I did John Hussey say yeah we got a
07:48virtual measurement
07:52practice because this one is a
07:55relatively close but probably not a
07:57measurement during the regular
07:58season there you go so John it's
08:00this 10 inches John spent the
08:03offseason practicing how far that
08:06is and gave us exactly didn't look
08:07like quite tenant now it's the
08:12preseason fourth down probably
08:15third down all right let's run it
08:17right behind Carver Willis and
08:19Enrique Cruz see if they can get
08:20some movement on a short yardage
08:23play that's how you evaluate on the
08:32sneak Martinez pushed back and it's
08:36fourth down they slam the door shut
08:39on that but you mentioned it is one
08:46of the we'll talk about it we have
08:48talked about talk about it more as
08:50this night goes on it is one of the
08:51stories who is gonna be the left
08:53guard in Australia for the 49ers
08:55and it just by watching practice
08:57and now watching these games it
08:58certainly looks like Carver
08:59Willis who's never played it in
09:01his college career has a chance
09:03right without time the defensive
09:04lineman let Nugent kind of
09:07submarine forward and they pinch
09:08both of those defensive tackles
09:10and lost some yards fourth and
09:12one
09:15Martinez sets up to throw and it's
09:19caught for the first down by
09:20Rucci
09:22for a really good concentration by
09:24him
09:29Rucci undrafted out of Wisconsin a
09:31couple years ago played in four
09:32games for Miami last year coming
09:36back across the formation gets a
09:38little bit held up and then the
09:39defenders in front of them throws his
09:41hand up thinking he's going to get a
09:42deflection right there don't take
09:46your eye look that catch all the way
09:47in and Rucci did exactly that for a
09:49big first down on fourth down
09:57in front of James couldn't run up
09:59the middle James pulls away from a
10:01defender and he gets down inside the
10:04and he's going to take a look at
10:04the top 10 again for a guy who
10:10hasn't played in a while his
10:11vision is impressive and he has
10:13not played a lot in training
10:14camp either with the rib injury
10:16they're pulling Carver Willis from
10:18the left guard spot nice big hole
10:20up inside and you see the cutting
10:22ability and the vision of Jordan
10:23James and then pulling away from
10:25arm tackles and so the forty
10:31Niners knocking on the door again
10:33it's been only field goals so far
10:36tonight when you love over five
10:38yards a clip for your running back
10:40Bobby Turner is running back coach
10:42right there the legend is happy
10:43with that two minute warning here in
10:47Vegas be there Sunday September 27th
10:58at Levi's Stadium when the 49ers take
11:00on the Cardinals all fans in
11:01attendance will receive a George
11:02Kittle bobble head presented by
11:05Novartis secure your seats today
11:08at 49ers.com slash tickets bubble
11:12on and I will say this George
11:14Kittle has got a very realistic
11:16shot of being available week one
11:19coming up here in a in a hiccup
11:21against the Rams great to see him
11:23running around in pads practice
11:25it does look good he would love to
11:29play at Melbourne cricket ground
11:33let's finish this drive here for
11:35the 49er offense four for four in
11:37the red zone last week not as good
11:39obviously here but finish this
11:41half strong by punching it in
11:43George James maybe a yard second
11:49down first charge timeout
11:53and this is classic I mean the
11:58Raiders called the timeout but
11:59Kyle Shanahan loves finishing a
12:02half with the football absolutely
12:04loves it then you double up and
12:05come back and they're gonna get the
12:08ball to start the second half
12:12with two timeouts left for Vegas
12:15please set the game block with
12:17Kubiak the head coach five five on
12:21the game two years older than clay
12:24Kubiak the 49ers offensive
12:25coordinator will turn 40 in January
12:28and Clay will turn 38 in a couple of
12:33months and now flags and the 49ers
12:41have jumped full start offense everybody
12:46but the center five yard penalty
12:49second down exactly like the what
12:59happened to the Raiders this 49ers
13:02second full start inside the 15 yard
13:04line tonight second down and goal
13:07Martinez had it batted at the line
13:09of scrimmage
13:23he's trying to get it to Jordan James
13:24out there just in a little curl on the
13:27goose good job right there because he
13:29was actually getting blocked I mean he
13:30had the lane to the quarterback but if
13:32you anticipate that ball coming out
13:33quick your eyes are on your target the
13:35quarterback get a hand up and you get
13:37those little inside throws batted
13:39down Martinez steps up sees a little
13:43space tucks it away and he'll get
13:46down to about the six yard line but
13:47it's fourth down call it the seven
13:50yard line and Eddie Pinheiro will
13:53come on to try and tie it good job
14:00stepping up but now everything gets
14:02chaotic and there is nobody open
14:04good plaster job by the Raiders
14:05defensively getting hipped up to
14:07to the receivers and Adrian Martinez
14:10makes the most of it Vegas with the
14:16two timeouts Kyle Shanahan might be
14:18thinking now I got three timeouts
14:19140 can be a lot of time chip shot
14:24is good so this game's tied at six
14:27both teams have stopped the other
14:30one in the red zone a few times
14:35a great opportunity particularly for
14:37a guy you figure won't be the
14:39starting quarterback to start the
14:40year Fernando Mendoza and I don't
14:43think there's a big debate on that
14:45to be honest no you're right I mean I
14:46think it is Kirk Cousins to to show
14:50the way to Fernando Mendoza and
14:54and believe me Kirk in year 15 is can
14:58still do it it's the question is how
15:00long does that body hold up well you
15:02but you think you know I think the
15:04natural thing to wonder would be how
15:06long can they you know stay stay in
15:08semi contention but you think they
15:09might have a good team I think why
15:11they got a lot of good players I know
15:13that I think you know Clint has done a
15:16good job with his staff and and I
15:18mean they had a lot of young guys on
15:19the back end but they they put in some
15:21free agents now that are going to
15:23help them defensively Quay Walker
15:24and the Kobe Dean and Teron Johnson
15:26and then offensively going and
15:28getting Naylor was was a big get
15:30Kirk Cousins was a big get Connor
15:32Hayward was a big get I think maybe
15:35the biggest get was Tyler Linderbaum
15:36their center who may be the best
15:38center in pro football
15:41to get here to kick it away Tompkins
15:43wants a chance at a return
15:47table to break one tackle and gets
15:50tracked down Jalen Graham hurt getting
15:55up real slow and Pat McMorris had a
15:57shot just takes a bad angle shooting
15:59his gun and misses I think he ends
16:04up with some friendly fire on Jalen
16:07Graham see Jalen's coming he's coming
16:08out and now the McMorris gets oh yeah
16:10they just went into each other and
16:19it's just the details I mean it
16:21McMorris angles a little bit better
16:23that that thing is tackled right
16:24there on the spot
16:29on first down
16:31I think it's a good game
16:39with that good game 49ers sitting on
16:44those three timeouts
16:47I like the number 23 by Lauby and the
16:50cut towel hanging off the rear end in
16:52the back of your pants and the face
16:54mask you think you've seen it all pro
16:56wear it just like that
16:59his name is Christian McCaffrey
17:03check down for a it looks like it should
17:06be a first down Ian Thomas caught it
17:08speaking of the number you've seen
17:10before 15 of course is a is a very
17:14important number in Raider Lord Tom
17:15Flores the great Tom Flores Hall of
17:18Famer wore it and gave Mendoza the blessing
17:21to wear it and staying inbounds on that
17:25reception is Brandon Johnson so the
17:27Raiders will use their second time out
17:29here looks like it's being marked just
17:31shy of the line again 33 seconds
17:33remaining in the half and you can see
17:35Mendoza and his skill set I mean he's
17:386 foot 5 236 pounds knows he's going out
17:42to the comeback out to the right and
17:44can absolutely rip it his challenges
17:47this preseason really have been in the
17:48middle of the field or maybe hold the
17:49ball a little bit too long but he should
17:53end up being a great player in this
17:54league the story's been been well
17:56documented originally verbal to Yale
17:59out of Miami-Dade County then ended up
18:02at Cal for three years before
18:04transferring for the magical year in
18:06Bloomington and you see what his record
18:08was at Cal and 22 starts I wasn't
18:1010 and 12 it's been determined that
18:14the runner did make the lights the
18:16ultimate team game on the field will
18:18be a first down that you heard that
18:24announcement fully there but the
18:26quick review determined that in
18:30fact in Brandon Johnson got the
18:34first down so it's a first down
18:35Raiders one timeout left Mike
18:46former NFL head coach Las Vegas has
18:56elected to maintain their timeout in
18:59in order to avoid the 10 second runoff by
19:01rule game clock operator please set the
19:04game clock to 36 seconds please three
19:07six
19:16so you know Clint might be thinking if
19:18they've gotten the first down on the
19:19field live they might have run up and
19:21spiked it so they talked to him after
19:23the review he decided let's not take
19:26the 10 seconds off give me the timeout back
19:28keep my timeout one left
19:42that was a sideline Malik Benson was out of
19:46bounds a flag comes in though this is
19:48going to be a tough call if it's on
19:49Saran Neal because I thought he spun
19:51his head perfectly he was in blanket
19:54position
20:02well he sure looked to me like he
20:04flipped his head let's see if there's a
20:06a lot of contact before that that's
20:15interference defense number thirty three
20:20automatic first down he's got his
20:35hands on him certainly past five yards
20:37but when that ball was in the air I
20:38did not I mean I saw him spin his head
20:40I didn't see a lot of contact this is
20:42not a good call the crowd in Vegas is
20:45predominantly booing because it's
20:47mostly 49ers fans big call though for
20:51the Raiders Mendoza first down step
20:53up throw complete middle of the field
20:55they got the one timeout left
20:57the clock is still moving Mendoza trying
21:06to direct traffic
21:13and it's dropped in a hurry Ian Thomas
21:16with five seconds still early in this
21:20game but I mean realistically in this game
21:24probably not the reason he dropped it
21:26but the 49ers tattooing guys in the
21:28play right before Duggar had a good
21:29hit on him guys start looking for
21:32those trackers and looking for those
21:33defenders and those little quick
21:35throws and then they stop and start
21:36dropping them as the game goes on
21:38and I've seen it for years versus this
21:4049er defense
21:5145 yard try for Matt Gay and the field goal
21:56exchange continues Raiders get points before
22:01the half and take a nine to six lead as
22:05we hit the break six days away from a
22:15flight to Melbourne another half of
22:17preseason football ahead spots on the line
22:20and a three-point game here in Vegas
22:23and a three-point game here in the
22:50world's 49ers
23:06all field goals in the first half of this
23:09final preseason game for the 49ers here
23:11in Vegas taking on the Raiders these
23:14two teams will meet in the middle of
23:16the regular season but as you can tell
23:18by that score them it's a big plays
23:19made on defense and special teams Jack
23:21Jones all over that one on that in cut
23:23trying to pick that one off Saran
23:24Neal club coverage over there getting
23:26the big pass break up love this play
23:29Jalen Graham getting in the throwing
23:30lane
23:32and the interception by Tatum Bethune
23:35Keon white right up the middle
23:36little swim move over Trey's own the
23:38center
23:40Okoronkwo also had a sack
23:44there's the first half stats
23:46the 36 offensive plays for the Raiders
23:48a lot of those came on those first
23:49two drives with Kirk Cousins yeah
23:51and this is not good obviously
23:54defensively did a good job on on third
23:56down hold them to field goals but
23:59offensively want to be better on the
24:00money down want to be better in the
24:01red zone when you're in scoring
24:02position inside the 20 well it'd be the
24:04second week in a row and tonight it
24:06was the numbers one for five for Mac
24:08Jones who started got two series with
24:10it second week in a row that you can't
24:11bat a box score scout no no and and to
24:15Max defense I mean last week he threw
24:17some lasers right he threw some big
24:19time throws but there was also a
24:20couple of a couple of poor
24:22decisions but more importantly is
24:24his receivers were not running the
24:26right routes and finishing routes
24:28and being in the right spot and
24:29we've seen some examples of that
24:31early in this game when he was out
24:32there as well that's got to get
24:34cleaned up I think one of the
24:35things to be excited about
24:36Kaylon Black four carries for 28
24:38yards and then Jordan James six for
24:4029 so that's seven yards a carry
24:42for Kaylon and almost five for
24:44George and they got to run it
24:45better and what is Kyle Shanahan
24:47always about and it goes way back
24:49to his dad running the football
24:50setting up play action owning the
24:52line of scrimmage last year they
24:55did not run it well enough in
24:57terms of the yards per carry and
24:58the explosive runs and everything
25:00in the offense really is built
25:02off of the run game so I think
25:04those two backs are both going to
25:06have big years and in terms of
25:08being out there as a supplement
25:09for Christian McCaffrey when he
25:10needs a breather remember the
25:13Niners had to make that trade
25:14last year at backup just to get
25:15some depth at running back get a
25:17backup running back for Christian
25:18McCaffrey and you know now it
25:23looks like early in training camp
25:25when both those guys got hurt you
25:26thought oh and now they've come
25:28back at the right time and
25:29hopefully that'll be the case for
25:30some other 49ers next week too
25:33absolutely Jordan James has been
25:34certainly impressive where I've
25:35been most impressed is his
25:37vision just not playing a lot of
25:39football in the last couple of
25:40years it's number one I think if
25:44you ask Bobby Turner I have what's
25:46what's on your list you're
25:47watching guys in college and
25:48vision comes up number one and I
25:50asked him one time well how do
25:51you how do you judge vision how
25:54do you know what a guy sees you
25:55know what his answer was well I
25:56asked him well I asked him how's
25:58your vision I asked him what did
26:00you see on the play did you see the
26:02green grass and here's the question
26:04chew it up and you know I think
26:10probably a lot of times when he's
26:11evaluating he may know the answer
26:13ahead of time here's Khalil Herbert
26:15with his first appearance on the
26:17night and a nice return for him out
26:18across the 30 yard line which
26:21you make Jones got a couple series
26:22then Adrian Martinez took over
26:24extended opportunity again for
26:26Martinez he had that the first
26:27preseason game after that Curtis
26:29Ward injury and then last week is
26:32as well a little more than almost
26:35a full game tonight now he's been
26:39in the red zone a few times but
26:40have not been able to punch in the
26:42the end zone got a new center out
26:44there and Doug Kramer a new right
26:46tackle and Isaac all our phone
26:49Connor Colby in there and we are
26:51in the left garden next to go
26:53that's right places that Carter
26:56Willis and this is Trenton
26:57Irwin who gets cut down after a
26:59nice first down game good job by
27:05Adrian nobody opened down the
27:07field he's looking out to the
27:08right comes back to the left
27:09everybody covered in man and get
27:11get it to the check down on time
27:13and you'll get positive yards
27:14that's always to me the key to
27:16throwing the check downs is
27:17throwing the check downs on time
27:19get to those reads quickly get to
27:20your check down room to run
27:31Martinez on the roll and Hodge
27:34unable to bring it in might have
27:36been out of bounds anyway and its
27:39third down and three coming up and
27:42there's been some obviously some
27:44short yardage in this game and
27:45the 49ers have yet to convert a
27:47third down they got one fourth
27:51down they did get the one fourth
27:53down and then last year I mean
27:54they were the best third down
27:55third down offensive pro football
27:57huge reason why they ended up with
27:5913 wins playing keep away and keeping
28:02the football and protecting the
28:03defense that'd be great in the red
28:06zone too big improvements in the
28:09red zone last year in large part
28:11because of Christian McCaffrey's
28:12return Martinez pressured and he
28:17gets brought down near the line
28:19of scrimmage but it's fourth down
28:24that's unfortunate and third and
28:27five playing zone defense you
28:30should be able to get it out
28:31quickly and just get rid of it
28:33unloaded to one of those
28:34underneath curls or in cuts or
28:37something versus that zone
28:39defense 49ers by the way 51% on
28:45third down last year as Tim said
28:47led the lead the league they were
28:51about top five and three and
28:53opposite rarely went three and
28:54out it feels like this guy's going
28:59to turn out to be a major
29:00addition Carlos Waitman the
29:06punter like Ben said I mean has
29:11scoreless Waitman punted in the
29:12middle of the field all now he
29:14sees a directional punting has
29:15been outstanding takes a lot of
29:19pressure off of those gunners when
29:20you kick it to the direction you
29:22the the Boyer calls for it to go
29:25gives those guys a leg up and
29:26then with the hang time they're
29:27down there waiting to make a hit
29:30really eliminate big pump
29:32returns I know we mentioned a few
29:33times in the preseason but worth
29:34repeating that he was fifth in
29:36the league in hang time and it
29:38really you've seen he's a lefty
29:40and he's a lefty which I know you
29:42like a lot of coaches like
29:43Belichick always liked right it's
29:45different so Fernando Mendoza back
29:48out there
29:58created enough of a problem
30:02good job by him holding up the tight
30:04Andy and Thomas and getting enough
30:05on him to mess that timing up and
30:07then getting off that block and
30:08getting in the face of O'Connell to
30:12have an impact on the play and it
30:13ends up coming out high and high
30:25still have Alfred Collins and CJ West
30:27out there right in the middle of
30:28this defense
30:31these two guys have been in since the
30:34first drive not every snap is close
30:36but they've played a lot
30:41Ogunbeg Wale with that carry again no
30:44Ashen Genti tonight because of the
30:46injury but good running from Mike
30:48Washington to start the game for the
30:50Raiders
30:50and this is the play I was telling
30:52you against four-man front say they
30:53are just gonna get on CJ West and
30:56double him out of there and see what
30:59Alfred Collins does over here on the
31:00other side but you get movement with a
31:03double team on that defensive tackle
31:05guard and has a double crunch and
31:07they doubled Alfred out of there as
31:08well that is a staple running play
31:10with a lot of success against the
31:1249er four-man front
31:13third down run and a conversion for
31:15the Raiders
31:28think about the Niners defensive
31:31interior right also Dickie Zua the guy
31:34not playing the night Grayson Halt the
31:36rookie from Oklahoma's had a very
31:38nice training camp and Osa may be the
31:40best free agent acquisition they have
31:41this year man is he a good player from
31:43the Cowboys
31:45teammates and Kyle Shanahan rave about
31:47it
31:49with Davis coming up to make a strong
31:51tackle after a short game
31:57talk about how you hear good things
31:58about Odigie Zua but then to practice
32:00with him to have him in the locker room
32:01he has exceeded the expectations his
32:04motor is redlining all the time I mean
32:07he is on it takes a lot of great
32:09angles long arms can finish on the
32:12quarterback good run defender it's
32:14going to be a huge addition to this
32:1549er defense so impressive to yet the
32:18team with so many leaders like the
32:1949ers have and he steps in and has
32:21the same type of qualities
32:24that goes on play action and gets away
32:28from one and gets away from CJ West and
32:30is able to launch forward
32:33reminiscent of the national championship
32:35game though the stakes
32:37well I don't know if the stakes are
32:38different this is NFL preseason game
32:40but he able to make a nice run with a
32:43big lunge yeah and he's going to spin
32:44out of it Okerwonkwo can't get him
32:46there and then CJ just overruns it
32:48and for a guy his size and every bit
32:50of six five close to 240 he's got
32:53some wiggle to him I think he ran a
32:55four eight or something he can move
33:04and he's able to sneak it
33:12I'm going to rotate the defensive
33:14tackles out right now Bryson
33:16Easton Sebastian Valdez coming in for
33:18Alfred Collins they're going to CJ is
33:21going to stay out there there's the
33:23same play but with a sneak attached to
33:25it double both the defensive tackles
33:27by alignment that was an easy first
33:29down 49ers were not in their short
33:31yardage defense pinching down playing
33:33the snake it looked like Ian Thomas
33:46moved to me first but I think his
33:48argument is I was he was about to
33:50maybe go in motion to step back
33:52but he didn't go in motion no he
33:54stops this is on a fraction defense
34:00number ninety six five yard penalty
34:03first down Josh Oren has been on the
34:05team a day today the 49ers added him
34:15well that's that's a tough one already down in his stance and then to come out and that's that's a
34:20hard one on a defensive end especially as you said it kind of just got signed a couple hours ago
34:25but drafted last year was on the Raiders
34:27well well we weren't where we were at the combine
34:30and used for four five or four six right I mean
34:34yeah move it's 262 pounds at the combine last year he was at the UFL this year Josh
