00:03:45You're not gonna have the team
00:03:46colors and you are going to keep
00:03:50the records of the old Browns so
00:03:52Jimmy Brown is still all over the
00:03:53record with obviously people like
00:03:55that they moved to Baltimore they
00:03:56had to rename the team the Ravens
00:03:58and of course Art Modell was the most hated
00:04:00man in Northeast Ohio for a long long time
00:04:03the other interesting thing about that
00:04:06Belichick was the coach and we did a
00:04:08game here on Monday Night Football in
00:04:091995 and they'd already announced in the
00:04:11middle of the season they're going and
00:04:14and that crowd was shall we say unruly
00:04:18yeah yeah well this is a incredible
00:04:21football community Northeast Ohio and I
00:04:25feel bad since they built the stadium
00:04:26and the Browns came back three winning
00:04:30seasons right right second and so that's
00:04:44and Stefanski had COVID and had to watch
00:04:47the game from his basement and he
00:04:50forgot to put him on pause at one
00:04:52point and here's the kids upstairs
00:04:53screaming and carrying on and know
00:04:55something great has happened but
00:04:56he's waiting for it to happen oh my
00:04:58gosh but they had a 28 nothing lead
00:05:00at the end of the first quarter in
00:05:01that game in Pittsburgh and it got a
00:05:04little nervous for Cleveland in the
00:05:05second half but they held it third
00:05:09down and six rolling out of the
00:05:12pocket throw in the end zone into
00:05:15traffic flag is down incomplete
00:05:16gonna be a holding call on New
00:05:19England like frown over the right
00:05:22tackle 68 I just can't believe
00:05:24they've had three winning seasons in
00:05:26their last division title you got to
00:05:27go all the way back to Bernie
00:05:28Kosar in 1989 and again I would
00:05:34argue that this is as good of a
00:05:35football town as there is no
00:05:37question they are starving for a
00:05:39winner here it was once called the
00:05:41factory of sadness the old stadium
00:05:45this stadium could be the and they
00:05:47just hope in Brook Park it'll bring
00:05:49them a lot of happiness brand new
00:05:51start yep brand new start of course
00:05:53in the 80s the drive the fumble
00:05:55yep of course it's Denver Ernest
00:05:57Beiner was having a great game and
00:05:59a great season you're looking at two
00:06:00teams since 1999 the Patriots have
00:06:04the best best record in the league and
00:06:07the Browns have the worst yeah
00:06:10point down for a Dallas his kick is
00:06:13good tack on 37 ticks left in the
00:06:16half 27 to 13 so Jack is back they
00:06:22tell me in an all-new season of
00:06:24Reacher when a chance encounter
00:06:26draws Reacher into a deadly
00:06:28conspiracy he must use all of his
00:06:30skills I mean all of them and
00:06:31strength to get to the truth the
00:06:33truth will say the three of them
00:06:35don't miss Reacher starring Alan
00:06:36Richter only I think how are we
00:06:40doing here yes he needs to name a
00:06:43number on his back and you see it
00:06:45only on Prime Video I think he lives
00:06:46in Nashville oh really yeah well you
00:06:49give my apologies I think someone
00:06:53didn't try to challenge the lad and
00:06:55he didn't end well yeah oh man oh
00:07:01the Norris story lies now of course
00:07:03Mike McCarthy is back in Pittsburgh
00:07:05reuniting with I can't wait to see
00:07:08how that goes that's a great
00:07:09story right Jesse Minner goes to
00:07:11Baltimore to replace John Harbaugh
00:07:13we'll see about Lamar and that
00:07:15game and can Burroughs stay healthy
00:07:18get the Bengals back in the playoffs
00:07:20Munkin comes in here Watson is the
00:07:22starting quarterback at least for
00:07:24week one so a lot of interesting
00:07:26stuff going on all around the league
00:07:27obviously every year yeah and a
00:07:29great great division this year a
00:07:31lot of different storylines of
00:07:32course with Cincinnati down in
00:07:34Southwest Ohio they're focusing on
00:07:36starting fast and trying they have
00:07:38had a horrendous September over the
00:07:40last four or five years trying to
00:07:42keep Joe Burrow healthy this will be
00:07:44a 109 yard run back and he goes
00:07:46all the way but he comes up a
00:07:47little bit short you might say for
00:07:50two ticks that's called I'm the
00:07:52I'm doing whatever I can I'm
00:07:53taking this out yeah nine yards
00:07:55deep why not waning seconds I
00:08:00thought he might have stepped off
00:08:01it up the back line that's how deep
00:08:02he was close he's like if I'm
00:08:05staying in bounds oh that would have
00:08:07been a world record Terry overturned
00:08:11that baby not not from that shot
00:08:14out but on the boundary cam that
00:08:16the league's looking at yeah he was
00:08:17about four inches in bounds all
00:08:20move right now as is the first pass
00:08:24it ends this way and that's the way
00:08:29we will go or they will go to the
00:08:31locker room and we're waiting for
00:08:32Kaylee do you eat steak in the
00:08:35preseason back here at halftime of
00:08:37course pre post Kaylee who you got
00:08:41coach Rabel your defense you've
00:08:44been trying to build depth on this
00:08:45roster what do you want to see from
00:08:47them in the second a lot more
00:08:48inspiring effort than what we just
00:08:50saw and another half ahead for
00:08:52Baron Morton what will growth for
00:08:54the rookie look maybe better
00:08:55decisions I mean we just have to
00:08:56understand you know we're in a
00:08:58two-minute drill and we can't make
00:09:00some of those passes and the short
00:09:01ones are especially the ones across
00:09:03our body into the end zone we need
00:09:05to know that you know we'll take a
00:09:06field goal there thanks yeah
00:09:07appreciate it yeah well said coming
00:09:10up after the break TNF halftime
00:09:12show Carissa fits in the whip
00:09:14coming your way and back to come to
00:09:23Cleveland Ohio on this Thursday
00:09:25night temperature in the mid 70s 27
00:09:29to 13 the Cleveland Browns leading
00:09:32the New England Patriots
00:09:33so for the Browns tonight they
00:09:36scored on their first five drives
00:09:38three touchdowns two field goals in
00:09:42this just concluded first half
00:09:43Gabriel wanted to put some good
00:09:46stuff on tape certainly has three
00:09:49touchdown passes 12 and 15 for
00:09:52186 so it's interesting now but
00:09:54now it's the battle for the third
00:09:56spot and we're going to see green
00:09:58in this in the second yeah but
00:10:00Gabriel if nothing else somebody's
00:10:02going to pick Gabriel up yeah I mean
00:10:04and we'll see if he's able to stay
00:10:06here in Cleveland I don't know how
00:10:07you can watch that that first half
00:10:10and take anything away from it and
00:10:12think about you know here it is
00:10:13Shador Sanders and Deshaun Watson
00:10:15and if I'm Dylan Gabriel and I've
00:10:18started more games in college than
00:10:19any anybody in FBS history I'm
00:10:22sitting here thinking he told us
00:10:23uncharted territory sitting back
00:10:25watching and then he puts that out
00:10:27on film on to show not just the
00:10:29league but the show Todd Munkin is
00:10:31the first time head coach he
00:10:33definitely helped himself tonight
00:10:35mm-hmm Ryan Fitzpatrick or man on
00:10:43our wrap-around programming and
00:10:45coming up to join us for part of the
00:10:47third quarter and the great Andrew
00:10:49Whitworth in the fourth kickoff is
00:10:58taken inside the ten haskins up to
00:11:04the twenty six yard line moments
00:11:05ago Kaley with Todd Munkin well
00:11:09Todd despite the lack of reps for
00:11:11Dylan Gabriel through camp five
00:11:13for five on scoring drives what's
00:11:14impressed you well I'll get back
00:11:16to Dylan but I just want to wish Al
00:11:18and Linda a happiest 60th
00:11:20anniversary how cool is that I
00:11:23mean to find your soulmate the
00:11:25love of your life 60 years
00:11:27congratulations Al and Linda now
00:11:29Dylan Gabriel what a great half
00:11:32happy for him guys played well
00:11:34around him certainly took took
00:11:36advantage of his opportunity thank
00:11:38you so much John you bet oh I
00:11:41was great that was very cool so
00:11:43Todd is he's 60 years old
00:11:47he was in the crib and we're
00:11:49walking down the aisle no doubt
00:11:50that was very cool man thank you
00:11:52first thing on his mind it's a
00:11:54Dylan Gabriel and his five series
00:11:57and five point five touchdowns or
00:11:58whatever that in a second yeah
00:12:01probably done for the night what a
00:12:03night for him start now from the
00:12:05forty one yard line pass is
00:12:07caught short pass to the side of
00:12:09the first the Gennaro making the
00:12:12grab Aaron Morton right in the
00:12:14the first half he was eight of
00:12:17twelve so now he's thrown nine out
00:12:19of thirteen complete but only for
00:12:21sixty yards yeah and again one
00:12:24thing about what what he's being
00:12:25put into position to do is is just
00:12:28learning every single day you know
00:12:30being out there changing from the
00:12:33college game a lot of gun to
00:12:35the under center snap count third and
00:12:40one fighting see where they spot it
00:12:43here Haskins again don't tell me we
00:12:48have another virtual measurement
00:12:52nope first down they've had enough
00:12:55of the virtual measures down that
00:12:57that was clearly a first down mm-hmm
00:13:01always amazed you know we kind of get
00:13:04caught up in the starters and
00:13:06thinking about you know these teams
00:13:07and two weeks from now but the
00:13:10great teams build depth and how do
00:13:12you build depth you know you do it
00:13:14in camp and you do it in games like
00:13:18this deep drop look at loses his
00:13:21balance and he's down knee down he
00:13:23got touched there he's armed with
00:13:26the set easiest one he'll ever get
00:13:28second down yeah he does a good job
00:13:33just using his hands how quick he
00:13:37gets off the ball usually wins
00:13:39right at the line of scrimmage and
00:13:40then just got in there so quickly that
00:13:43Morton just didn't have a chance
00:13:45hey 40 40 40 second down and 20
00:13:52sacks now for Cleveland run a draw
00:13:54a lot of space it's a lot of that
00:13:58yardage back after the sack that's
00:14:00hasty picks up 11.
00:14:01Yeah and hasty is such a different
00:14:04back from what they have to work
00:14:06with tonight with plan Larrison
00:14:08Jim Miller Hassan Haskins who we've
00:14:10seen hasty still at this point in his
00:14:12career still has that juice to get
00:14:14north and south you saw it there on
00:14:16that play gives him a chance here
00:14:18now in third and nine.
00:14:20Two backs.
00:14:24Henderson with the night off.
00:14:26They'll be one two in the season
00:14:28begins in Seattle.
00:14:29There are nine knocked down.
00:14:33The bench there on that play
00:14:36break it up.
00:14:37And Morton loved to have that one
00:14:39back he went to a double slant there
00:14:41to his right.
00:14:42See the defensive coordinator Mike
00:14:44Rudenberg.
00:14:45Rudy is fired up with his defense's
00:14:47effort.
00:14:47But that one Morton he just he's
00:14:49going to put that one on himself
00:14:50just through that ball behind his
00:14:52receiver who actually had a step on
00:14:54the defender just just didn't give
00:14:56him much of a chance trying to put
00:14:57that ball out in front.
00:14:58Jeremiah McClendon rookie out of
00:15:00Southern Illinois.
00:15:02In the point now Matt.
00:15:05So Bryce Berringer is not healthy
00:15:09enough to punt tonight.
00:15:10So they brought Hawkins to at least
00:15:13took the drive.
00:15:14Whoa.
00:15:15Look out baby.
00:15:16Are they going to rule him outside
00:15:19the goal line.
00:15:20Yes they do.
00:15:21Two.
00:15:22Yep.
00:15:22Come in.
00:15:23Forward progress is stopped at the
00:15:25one yard line.
00:15:28In the field of play.
00:15:29That was.
00:15:31Larva Dan who's been all over the
00:15:33place tonight.
00:15:34Stopped there by Hutchins.
00:15:35Well we saw a kickoff return from
00:15:37the back of the back line right.
00:15:39And now we see a punt return where
00:15:40he almost.
00:15:41Another poor decision.
00:15:46All right.
00:15:47Three weeks from tonight.
00:15:49It'll be week two of the season.
00:15:50We will be in Buffalo.
00:15:51New stadium opening up first
00:15:53regular season game in Buffalo as
00:15:56the Lions go into Western New
00:15:58York to take on the Buffalo
00:16:01Bills.
00:16:02The great Ryan Fitzpatrick.
00:16:04He of nine teams in the 17 season
00:16:07career shaved last night and he
00:16:12will join us.
00:16:13Good.
00:16:14We have a lot of things to talk
00:16:15about.
00:16:15The Patriots first posted up here.
00:16:20Man versus what you have 180
00:16:22oysters.
00:16:23180 oysters now.
00:16:24How did you keep that down my
00:16:26man.
00:16:27He didn't.
00:16:27It was a rough 48 hours after
00:16:29that.
00:16:29Yes.
00:16:31I don't know if we need to know
00:16:32about.
00:16:32No.
00:16:33No we don't.
00:16:33I can't wait to see this show
00:16:35here.
00:16:35The browser.
00:16:35Now you've got Taylor green
00:16:38rookie.
00:16:39The guy who just lit up the
00:16:45Indianapolis stadium.
00:16:46Lucas oil stadium during the
00:16:48combine.
00:16:49He was off the charts.
00:16:51Six six.
00:16:51Two hundred and thirty pounds
00:16:53ran a four three six.
00:16:54I mean he's just one of those
00:16:55guys that just shows up and
00:16:57everybody's in all of his
00:16:58athletic ability but he'll be
00:17:00the first one to tell you he's
00:17:01got to improve as a pastor
00:17:02become become more consistent.
00:17:04But yeah just a great athlete
00:17:06and after the way Dylan Gabriel
00:17:07played in that first half.
00:17:09Yeah.
00:17:10He doesn't want to just go out
00:17:11here and hand the ball off.
00:17:12He needs to know they're both
00:17:13fighting for a job.
00:17:14He's got to come out here and
00:17:15play well himself.
00:17:16We finished up at Arkansas
00:17:18after starting at Boise State
00:17:20second and six.
00:17:21One.
00:17:22One.
00:17:24On the ground.
00:17:26And he's a stop behind the
00:17:28line.
00:17:29So go back to.
00:17:30Let's go talk about Drake
00:17:32May here first.
00:17:33Don't see him obviously
00:17:35tonight.
00:17:35But what do you think.
00:17:36I mean he was the leading
00:17:38candidate for MVP probably on
00:17:40December the first losing out
00:17:41barely to Stafford.
00:17:42Yeah.
00:17:43What a masterful job by the
00:17:44Patriots organization to bring
00:17:46Josh McDaniels back to insert
00:17:48him into that offense that
00:17:49system.
00:17:50He's a really smart guy and to
00:17:52surround him with the right
00:17:53pieces as well.
00:17:54That did such a good job with
00:17:56the infrastructure around
00:17:57Drake May and he really took
00:17:58it and ran with it.
00:18:00Excited to see what he does
00:18:01second year in this offense
00:18:02I was in this offense with
00:18:03Bill O'Brien in Houston.
00:18:05And the more you're in it
00:18:07the more you learn and you
00:18:08can attack a defense.
00:18:09So he's just going to
00:18:10continue to get better and
00:18:11better.
00:18:12Green running away.
00:18:14He's got a lot of speed.
00:18:15Close to a first down.
00:18:18Not to mention you know not
00:18:20just a second year but you
00:18:21bring in AJ Brown.
00:18:23Hobbs comes over from Green
00:18:24Bay.
00:18:25I mean you're looking at a lot
00:18:26of different pieces.
00:18:27Imagine them going to that
00:18:28three by one and putting AJ
00:18:30Brown into the boundary and
00:18:32forcing the defense to either
00:18:33put it you know a safety over
00:18:36the top which is open open up
00:18:37dobs in the field or are you
00:18:40going to play it straight with
00:18:40single high and now you get
00:18:41basically Josh McDaniel saying
00:18:43it's one-on-one we're going to
00:18:45give it to AJ Brown.
00:18:46Yeah and we're going to get the
00:18:47best version of AJ Brown too
00:18:48right.
00:18:48It's going to be a honeymoon
00:18:49this first year.
00:18:51I know you know a little bit
00:18:52about honeymoons 60 some years
00:18:54ago.
00:18:55But AJ Brown is a guy that if
00:18:57it's one-on-one he's going to
00:18:58win if it's contested he's going
00:19:00to make the catch and so this
00:19:01is going to add another
00:19:02dimension to their offense this
00:19:03year.
00:19:04Meanwhile they just come up
00:19:05short on a third down place
00:19:07and they forced the punt.
00:19:08I want Green to have the first
00:19:10series of his career with a
00:19:12fourth down at the 11 yard
00:19:13line.
00:19:14No thank you.
00:19:16You mentioned Bill O'Brien
00:19:18which is interesting he was
00:19:18there of course during the
00:19:19Brady years.
00:19:20So is a lot of that offense
00:19:21still in place with McDaniels
00:19:24now?
00:19:24It is a lot of it still in
00:19:26place with McDaniels and you
00:19:27know what it is it relies a lot
00:19:29on the quarterback the
00:19:31quarterback less and less in
00:19:32his NFL offenses is setting
00:19:34protections and he's in
00:19:35charge of everything and this
00:19:37is one of those offense
00:19:38that still does that it puts a
00:19:39lot on the quarterback pre
00:19:41snap and having that
00:19:42understanding of where
00:19:43everybody's going and what
00:19:44the defense is doing allows
00:19:46you to play even faster
00:19:47post which is amazing in his
00:19:48first year.
00:19:49Think about that what he was
00:19:50able to accomplish getting
00:19:51him all the way to the
00:19:52Super Bowl Al mentioned even
00:19:53in the race for the MVP.
00:19:56I think it makes us all get
00:19:57excited about we haven't
00:19:58even brought up Stevenson and
00:20:00Trevion Henderson in the
00:20:01backfield so these defenses
00:20:03are going to face Drake may
00:20:04are going to have a lot of
00:20:05tough decisions on AJ Brown
00:20:08Dobbs and now you got to deal
00:20:09with Drake may in the running
00:20:10game because he's going to
00:20:11have a lot of control with
00:20:12that line of scrimmage make
00:20:12sure they're always in the
00:20:13right play.
00:20:15So Todd Munkin with his first
00:20:19head coaching job at age 60.
00:20:21So you played for him where I
00:20:25played from in Tampa right the
00:20:26first game that Todd Munkin
00:20:27ever called in the NFL.
00:20:28I was his quarterback 2018
00:20:31through for 400 yards for
00:20:33touchdowns and ran for a
00:20:35touchdown in the opener and I
00:20:37signed the jersey and I gave it
00:20:38to him.
00:20:38I said nowhere to go but down
00:20:40from here.
00:20:41I'll say that he got to coach
00:20:42Lamar those what a game was a
00:20:44good game.
00:20:45Wow.
00:20:45What'd you do the next week
00:20:47400 again 75 yard touchdown
00:20:50pass in the first play against
00:20:51the Eagles.
00:20:52Oh come on.
00:20:54You want to keep going what I
00:20:55do the next day.
00:20:56Yeah what you do the 400 the
00:20:57next day.
00:20:58Come on.
00:20:58I do the next game.
00:20:59I got benched at halftime Al.
00:21:00What.
00:21:01How's that possible.
00:21:03That's called my career.
00:21:04Wait a who who is head coach
00:21:06Dirk Cutter at that point.
00:21:08Well that sucks.
00:21:09Yeah.
00:21:10How do you handle that.
00:21:11Great.
00:21:11You know I played about eight
00:21:13or nine games that year.
00:21:13Wait it's all good.
00:21:14Who replaced you.
00:21:15James Winston was the
00:21:16starter.
00:21:16He was suspended for the first
00:21:17three games of that season.
00:21:19Oh it's all you did you throw
00:21:20for 1200 yards and you're back
00:21:21on the.
00:21:23That's crazy.
00:21:26Meanwhile that's Morton.
00:21:28Want to talk to you about and
00:21:29by the way we go to a
00:21:31commercial you're staying
00:21:31sticking around.
00:21:33He's sticking around.
00:21:34We have to talk about the
00:21:35Sean Watson.
00:21:36You are a very sagacious man.
00:21:38And you went to Harvard so I
00:21:40assume you know what sagacious
00:21:41means.
00:21:42Yes I do.
00:21:42OK.
00:21:44So there are a lot of
00:21:45quarterbacks who have talked
00:21:47to you seek your sought your
00:21:50counsel and you have become
00:21:52like a life coach to some of
00:21:53these guys.
00:21:54If you were a life coach to
00:21:56the Sean Watson and he wanted
00:21:57some advice right now with all
00:21:59that's going on in his world.
00:22:00You can think about that.
00:22:01He's going to take a commercial
00:22:02break here.
00:22:03And tell me how.
00:22:05Oh.
00:22:05Talk to him.
00:22:06That perfect punch.
00:22:07Perfect.
00:22:10And they'll put it down at the
00:22:12two yard line.
00:22:13All right.
00:22:14You mull that one over.
00:22:16Gotcha.
00:22:16Yep.
00:22:17Are you mulling.
00:22:17I'm mulling right now.
00:22:18You.
00:22:24Back in Cleveland Browns up by
00:22:2514.
00:22:27I am.
00:22:27Have you mulled over.
00:22:28Have you mulled.
00:22:29I know you had two minutes to
00:22:30mull.
00:22:32I've rarely seen an athlete in
00:22:34any sport with a more dramatic
00:22:36and precipitous fall from grace
00:22:38as the Sean Watson.
00:22:40Let's be honest.
00:22:40He starts out as the coast of
00:22:43the town the below the ball in
00:22:44Houston.
00:22:44And now everybody kind of knows
00:22:46who follows football his story
00:22:48as a life coach unpaid.
00:22:51He came to you for advice right
00:22:53now at this point in his career.
00:22:54What would you tell him.
00:22:56I wish it would have got to him
00:22:57right before he criticized the
00:22:58fan base because that's a big no
00:23:00no there.
00:23:01I didn't do many favors but I
00:23:02think with him all the focus
00:23:04has to be in the locker room.
00:23:06You're so insulated in that
00:23:08locker room during a season.
00:23:09The brotherhood.
00:23:10You see he still wears a C on
00:23:12his chest.
00:23:13So there's a reason that he has
00:23:14that and to lean on those guys
00:23:16locker room.
00:23:17He knows this is his last chance
00:23:19if this thing doesn't work out
00:23:20at the beginning of the season
00:23:21here.
00:23:22He's going to be out of the NFL
00:23:23he's going to be done with
00:23:24football.
00:23:25So I think for him I would say
00:23:26you got to enjoy it.
00:23:27You got to lean on your
00:23:28brothers in the locker room and
00:23:30go out there and have fun.
00:23:31I think I would add to that
00:23:32is this guy already has his
00:23:34money.
00:23:35He had 22 months to come back
00:23:37from the second Achilles
00:23:38surgery.
00:23:40What what is your why.
00:23:41You know what what what made
00:23:43you want to come back to come.
00:23:45It wasn't the money.
00:23:46What made you want to come back
00:23:48whatever that is whatever
00:23:49motivated you to work so hard
00:23:51for 22 months to come back in
00:23:53his spot.
00:23:54Focus on that.
00:23:56Right.
00:23:58Green running around shows that
00:24:00speed.
00:24:02Wow.
00:24:03Yeah.
00:24:03He's got him.
00:24:04Yeah.
00:24:04You saw him at the combine.
00:24:06Whoa.
00:24:06Kind of reminds you of Terrell
00:24:08Pryor.
00:24:08You know like a Terrell Pryor
00:24:10athlete.
00:24:11And when he gets out what he
00:24:13can do.
00:24:14Remember Terrell Pryor played
00:24:15here in Cleveland.
00:24:16He kind of has that long stride.
00:24:20Obviously for him to become what
00:24:21he needs to be in the NFL.
00:24:23This is exciting.
00:24:24We all love it.
00:24:25But he's obviously going to have
00:24:26to develop and get comfortable
00:24:28seeing the coverage and getting
00:24:29the ball out.
00:24:30But this is really fun to see
00:24:32what he could do.
00:24:33He did this quite a bit in the
00:24:34SEC at Arkansas.
00:24:35He showed his speed.
00:24:37He had a three and a half foot
00:24:39vertical jump at the combine.
00:24:41Here he is again throwing.
00:24:42Finds the open man.
00:24:44And that will be for the moment
00:24:46a first down and may have given
00:24:48it up.
00:24:48We'll find out for you.
00:24:49Everything we've heard.
00:24:50What you just said about being
00:24:52in the locker room and talking
00:24:53to your teammates.
00:24:54Every single person we talked to
00:24:56this week whether it was a coach
00:24:57or whether it was a player.
00:24:59That's what they talked about
00:25:00was how he's encouraging guys.
00:25:02You know when they're doing drills
00:25:03a two-minute drill.
00:25:04He's in command.
00:25:05He's talking to the offensive
00:25:06line.
00:25:07He's patting them on the back.
00:25:07He's getting them going.
00:25:08So I think he really is again
00:25:10from everything we hear.
00:25:11He is pouring in.
00:25:13That moment he had.
00:25:14I almost think about it.
00:25:15Imagine if you're on that field
00:25:16and after working hard to come
00:25:18back from the first Achilles
00:25:19you get booed or cheered that
00:25:20you heard.
00:25:21You can understand how he maybe
00:25:22lost his pool for a moment.
00:25:24But he got that out of his
00:25:26system.
00:25:27Now it's just about okay that's
00:25:28over.
00:25:29Go play.
00:25:29Just go play ball.
00:25:30And I think that's his mindset
00:25:31at this point.
00:25:34Before we let you go.
00:25:36You can't wait to get out of
00:25:37here right now.
00:25:38Right.
00:25:39I'm loving this out.
00:25:41Shador Sanders.
00:25:42Talk to me about you and what
00:25:43you see so far.
00:25:44Yeah.
00:25:45You know Shador is going to
00:25:46have to make some progress.
00:25:47He's going to make a jump from
00:25:48his first two to a second year
00:25:50and I actually think we've seen
00:25:51it a little bit in the
00:25:52preseason.
00:25:53I thought we saw it last year
00:25:54in the Pittsburgh game at the
00:25:56end of the year.
00:25:56just being able to run a play
00:25:59like it's called and like it's
00:26:01supposed to be run.
00:26:02Go through your progression.
00:26:03Listen to your feet.
00:26:04Get the ball out with some
00:26:05anticipation with some
00:26:06accuracy.
00:26:07Those are the things that Todd
00:26:09Monk is looking for.
00:26:10There's a fumble.
00:26:11Was he down?
00:26:12Apparently the ball is alive.
00:26:15But they recover it.
00:26:17But I also think this is set up
00:26:19here for Shador.
00:26:21I mean if Deshaun once he
00:26:22fails Shador is going to jump
00:26:23into this thing and he's going
00:26:25to be the guy and there this
00:26:26city is going to be behind
00:26:27him.
00:26:29Yeah.
00:26:29So you think it will fail.
00:26:31Yeah.
00:26:31And it's it's going to happen.
00:26:33I mean Shador is playing this
00:26:34year.
00:26:35I think all three of these guys
00:26:36think Gabriel is going to have
00:26:37a chance to play as well.
00:26:38But you know this is such a
00:26:39young roster with a lot of
00:26:41changing parts and a lot of
00:26:42new guys.
00:26:43So they're going to struggle
00:26:44on offense this year.
00:26:45First down from the 44 yard line.
00:26:50One other thing.
00:26:51Your son wants to become a
00:26:53broadcaster right.
00:26:54Yeah.
00:26:55And his buddies in the hotel
00:26:56today.
00:26:57If I screw up any more tonight
00:26:59can he come in and do the
00:27:00fourth quarter.
00:27:02He would Al he would do that
00:27:04for you.
00:27:05That's great.
00:27:06Thank you.
00:27:07Great family.
00:27:09How many children do you have
00:27:10seven children.
00:27:11Seven kids.
00:27:12Nineteen to seven years old.
00:27:14So we've got quite the range
00:27:14three boys four girls.
00:27:17You married and got it all
00:27:18covered.
00:27:19We got it all covered.
00:27:20Vrabel offered me a flight on
00:27:21the plane tomorrow.
00:27:23I'm dropping my son off at
00:27:24Harvard for sophomore year.
00:27:26That's right.
00:27:26Yeah.
00:27:27Not taking it though.
00:27:28Not taking Vrabel up on it.
00:27:29Oh come on.
00:27:30Why not.
00:27:30Because I'd probably have to
00:27:31listen to him tell me about
00:27:32his playing career for two
00:27:34hours.
00:27:37anyway my man you were great.
00:27:39You got us almost through the
00:27:41end of the third quarter.
00:27:42Hey middle reliever.
00:27:43We're going to bring in the
00:27:44closer in a minute here with
00:27:45wit huh.
00:27:46He's coming in man of the year
00:27:47the whole thing.
00:27:49Got to ask him about we'll find
00:27:50out about one Aaron Donald
00:27:52too.
00:27:53Yeah.
00:27:53He's got some info for you.
00:27:54He'll elucidate.
00:27:55You know what elucidate means
00:27:56too right.
00:27:57Boy I had that one.
00:27:58Not as.
00:27:59Stigacious.
00:28:02Oh you're a beauty.
00:28:04The great.
00:28:05Ryan Fitzpatrick ladies and
00:28:07gentlemen.
00:28:08The crazy thing is.
00:28:10On third and five.
00:28:12Stepping up.
00:28:13Keeping his eyes down.
00:28:14Field.
00:28:15He will run for a first
00:28:17down.
00:28:17Went to ASU.
00:28:19Yeah well you know that.
00:28:20Well both my parents went to
00:28:21ASU Al.
00:28:21They followed in your
00:28:22footsteps.
00:28:23There you go.
00:28:24And Kirk you know this.
00:28:27You played 17 years.
00:28:28I was doing either Monday
00:28:30Night Football.
00:28:31I know where you're going.
00:28:32Or Sunday Night Football.
00:28:33I did.
00:28:33How many games.
00:28:345,000.
00:28:36Did I ever have Ryan Fitzpatrick
00:28:38in a game.
00:28:39No.
00:28:39You never had the privilege.
00:28:41You never had the privilege.
00:28:43We had him in a pre.
00:28:44A preseason game.
00:28:45Yeah.
00:28:46St. Louis Rams.
00:28:47That's right.
00:28:47Oh my God.
00:28:48That was great.
00:28:50We would just read about
00:28:50you every week.
00:28:51Throw it for 400 yards.
00:28:52Why didn't we do that game.
00:28:58That's Booth picking up a couple.
00:29:01Nice looking drive here.
00:29:02Which started back at the
00:29:03two yard line.
00:29:03Yeah run of the football.
00:29:05And we've seen a few scrambles.
00:29:06Right now tailing greens only
00:29:07thrown a couple passes.
00:29:09Two and two for 14 yards.
00:29:11I'm sure he's wanting more of
00:29:13an opportunity to get the ball
00:29:14downfield.
00:29:16I don't think you're gonna get
00:29:16any complaints from either
00:29:18sideline.
00:29:18Or up here to Booth.
00:29:19Or up here.
00:29:21Tick.
00:29:21Tick.
00:29:22Tick.
00:29:23A little over.
00:29:24Two minutes to play.
00:29:26In the third.
00:29:30Preseason winding down.
00:29:34Look out.
00:29:35And once again.
00:29:37Larva Dan who's been all over
00:29:39the place tonight.
00:29:41By the way still plenty of good
00:29:43seats available tonight if you
00:29:44look around.
00:29:47What can I tell you man.
00:29:50Yeah.
00:29:50Right.
00:29:51Stadium seats around 70.
00:29:54I'm guessing tonight.
00:29:56Eight.
00:29:57Eight.
00:29:58I'm calling.
00:29:59What do you think.
00:30:00I'm calling it.
00:30:01Seventeen.
00:30:03Nine.
00:30:04Somewhere between there.
00:30:05Forty nine.
00:30:07Third down and four.
00:30:09One eight.
00:30:10One eight.
00:30:11Oh he's twitching.
00:30:13One eight.
00:30:14One eight.
00:30:17To the outside.
00:30:19Can he get around the corner.
00:30:20He can.
00:30:21Picking up the first down.
00:30:23You almost feel like.
00:30:25You know depending on what they
00:30:26do with that third spot.
00:30:28That tailing green gives you at
00:30:29the very least.
00:30:30The potential of a package.
00:30:32You know in a.
00:30:33You know in a certain down and
00:30:35distance.
00:30:35If you were to.
00:30:36Roll him in there even though
00:30:38that.
00:30:38He throws the ball well enough
00:30:40that a defense knows hey he's
00:30:41coming in to run his own read
00:30:42or some kind of run game.
00:30:44He could still.
00:30:45Throw the football.
00:30:46But man is he dangerous.
00:30:47When he pulls it down.
00:30:49Has those long strides.
00:30:50And that speed.
00:30:51One eight.
00:30:52Final minute of the.
00:30:53Third quarter.
00:30:56A.
00:30:56Twelfth play of the drive.
00:30:57Which has consumed.
00:30:58Over seven minutes now.
00:31:00Fighting his way forward.
00:31:01Yard shy is Ryan.
00:31:03One of the impressive things
00:31:04about him to just talking with
00:31:05some of the coaches Mike
00:31:06but Jakey and Todd Monk and
00:31:08Matt Baker before the game.
00:31:10No reps.
00:31:11I mean he hasn't had any reps
00:31:12and they're talking about his
00:31:13intelligence.
00:31:14And how he's really picked up
00:31:15the system and he's worked
00:31:16hard.
00:31:17And so.
00:31:17This is a great reward for him
00:31:19to be able to come out here
00:31:20and perform like he is.
00:31:21No doubt.
00:31:21Look at that.
00:31:2288 yards.
00:31:23Second down and one.
00:31:25And they will.
00:31:26Go to the sideline.
00:31:28That'll take us to the third.
00:31:29court.
00:31:30Pay your after dues now.
00:31:32You're on.
00:31:32You're on.
00:31:3320 minutes.
00:31:35The great and good.
00:31:37Ryan Fitzpatrick.
00:31:38Thank you buddy.
00:31:39All right.
00:31:39Thank you.
00:31:39The hotel.
00:31:40Thank you.
00:31:4027 13 rounds.
00:31:42Back after.
00:31:44These messages.
00:31:50Fourth quarter.
00:31:51Al Michaels.
00:31:52Kirk Herbistry.
00:31:53Want to thank.
00:31:54Ryan Fitzpatrick.
00:31:55Andrew Whitworth to join us.
00:31:57To the outside on this long drive.
00:32:00And.
00:32:01Out of bounds.
00:32:02Near the line of scrimmage.
00:32:03So this drive.
00:32:04Has now consumed eight minutes
00:32:06and 15 seconds.
00:32:07Started back at the.
00:32:08Cleveland two.
00:32:10And upcoming is the 14th play.
00:32:12Now these guys on the edge.
00:32:15Who are trying to make a case
00:32:16for themselves.
00:32:17It was Swenson.
00:32:18At time.
00:32:18They lost the edge.
00:32:20He's got to.
00:32:21Force him with.
00:32:22With his threat.
00:32:23And what he can do with.
00:32:24With running the football.
00:32:25You got to force him.
00:32:27To be able to.
00:32:27Cut back inside.
00:32:29Or not give him.
00:32:30That.
00:32:30That lane.
00:32:31To the outside.
00:32:31With that speed.
00:32:34Third and one.
00:32:36Trying to make it.
00:32:37A.
00:32:37First and goal.
00:32:38Is green.
00:32:41The.
00:32:42The thing that.
00:32:43You know.
00:32:43We always get caught up in quarterback play.
00:32:45And the skill.
00:32:46But again.
00:32:46I just got to go back.
00:32:47To the offensive line.
00:32:49And how good.
00:32:49They've looked here.
00:32:50Whether it's been.
00:32:51That second group.
00:32:52Or they've worked in.
00:32:53Some of the third guys.
00:32:54Zenner's been out there.
00:32:55The whole game.
00:32:56And George Warhop.
00:32:58He's an offensive line coach.
00:32:59And.
00:33:00Todd Munkin told us.
00:33:01When he was trying to figure out.
00:33:02Am I going to get the job.
00:33:03Or am I not.
00:33:03He was in Baltimore.
00:33:04With him.
00:33:05Warhop was.
00:33:05And one of the first hires.
00:33:06He made.
00:33:07With Warhop.
00:33:08To come with him.
00:33:09Here to Cleveland.
00:33:10So.
00:33:10I think he's very confident.
00:33:11Even though they're breaking in.
00:33:12Five new starters.
00:33:13This year.
00:33:14That they're going to come together.
00:33:15With Warhop.
00:33:16In command of that.
00:33:17Thank you.
00:33:17Andrew breaking a tackle.
00:33:20Booth.
00:33:21Touchdown.
00:33:23Went away from Kobe Miner.
00:33:25Eight yards from the score.
00:33:27What a drive.
00:33:29As Green.
00:33:30Makes his.
00:33:31Debut.
00:33:33Man.
00:33:33He had.
00:33:34Gabriel having a great night.
00:33:36Then this guy comes in.
00:33:39Fifteen plays.
00:33:40Ninety.
00:33:40Eight yards.
00:33:42Four out of four through the year.
00:33:44With twenty seven yards.
00:33:46And fifty four on the ground.
00:33:48Yeah.
00:33:48And all three of these backs have done a good job.
00:33:52LeVar Dan there did a nice job of blocking.
00:33:54So he created a one on one on one opportunity there on the edge for Booth.
00:33:58And he ends up winning it.
00:34:00And I'm sure Mike Grable and Zach Kerr not real happy.
00:34:02He even said at the Cayley walking off at halftime.
00:34:05And about the effort and the energy.
00:34:06That continues to be a problem here in the second half for the defense.
00:34:11He went to the extra point.
00:34:13Then change into the fourth quarter.
00:34:16Thirty four.
00:34:17Thirteen.
00:34:18Cleveland.
00:34:26Welcome back to the fourth quarter in Cleveland.
00:34:28I'm joined by Deshaun Watson who will start for the Browns week one.
00:34:32Deshaun, Todd Munkins putting his trust in you.
00:34:34What has he done to earn your trust?
00:34:37Just give us a fair shot.
00:34:38I think just be able to come in and, you know, teach his way.
00:34:42Learn his structure.
00:34:43And that's really just build that confidence in all of us.
00:34:46So just being able to, you know, you know, get that relationship started and it's been good.
00:34:52And he doesn't sugarcoat things, does he?
00:34:53Oh, not at all.
00:34:54He's straightforward with everything.
00:34:55And so that's what I'm kind of used to, you know, coming into the league with Bill O'Brien.
00:35:01But it's definitely been good for the whole preview.
00:35:03Your coaches and your teammates have voiced their support for you.
00:35:07You've acknowledged the tension that exists with your fans.
00:35:10What do these fans not know about you that the men behind you on the sideline do?
00:35:15How much work I put in.
00:35:17I think just the work I come in each and every day, the opportunity I have, you know,
00:35:21being able to, you know, come in and lead this group.
00:35:23And, you know, I really just put the work in to try to come out here and win games for
00:35:27the city, for this organization.
00:35:29And we just want to continue to, you know, try to improve on that.
00:35:32For the past 22 months, through those two Achilles surgeries, what's driven you?
00:35:37What's your why been?
00:35:39My why is just the love of the game.
00:35:40I just want to be able to prove to myself that I am capable of still playing high
00:35:43level football in this league and have that opportunity to be able to show that.
00:35:48And I want to be able to, you know, do that each and every week.
00:35:50So physically, athletically, describe the 30-year-old version of Deshaun Watson.
00:35:55Yeah.
00:35:55I'm healthy now.
00:35:56100% healthy.
00:35:57Mentally really, really good.
00:35:58And I'm just ready to showcase that.
00:36:00So it's going to be super exciting and a lot of plays and wins happening this year.
00:36:05Thank you, Deshaun.
00:36:06Thank you.
00:36:07All right.
00:36:08Thank you, Kayleigh.
00:36:09Second down and two.
00:36:12Of course, that will be if that pass is caught by Dixon.
00:36:16That's going to be one of the main focal points, if not the focal point on opening day at Jacksonville.
00:36:22Oh, yeah.
00:36:23Yeah.
00:36:23I mean, you think about their first three games, you know, the first two on the road.
00:36:28Both of them, by the way, one o'clock kicks in Jacksonville in that heat and humidity and in Tampa
00:36:34in the heat and humidity.
00:36:36You'd feel this temperature.
00:36:37It's nothing like what they're going to face in Florida.
00:36:39So those are two challenges, no matter who the quarterback is.
00:36:42Right.
00:36:42They come back and you have Carolina, then a short week in Pittsburgh.
00:36:45So, you know, you want to win all your games.
00:36:50That's a tough start.
00:36:51You know, if you could somehow pie in the sky, somehow you're two and one on that short week coming
00:36:57into that Pittsburgh game.
00:36:58Yep.
00:36:58And that's house money, you know, because all those boos will turn into cheers pretty quickly if you start winning
00:37:04games.
00:37:04Well, as John Madden famously said, winning is the greatest deodorant.
00:37:10Right.
00:37:11That's a great thing.
00:37:14To the outside, that pass is incomplete.
00:37:16So, if they aren't to whatever they are, week five, which is our fourth game, will be here on prime,
00:37:24Pittsburgh and Cleveland.
00:37:26Had a couple of, had a beauty a couple of years ago, too.
00:37:28Oh, yeah.
00:37:29Oh, yeah.
00:37:29What do you think?
00:37:30We've talked quite a bit about the Sean and Cleveland.
00:37:32I just want to ask you, what are your thoughts on New England after last year, getting to the Super
00:37:38Bowl
00:37:38in Vrabel's first year, come back year two, year two in the system for a lot of these guys.
00:37:44What are your thoughts?
00:37:45They look like potentially a better team on paper than they were a year ago.
00:37:50That's exactly what I'm thinking.
00:37:52And, of course, everybody said, the naysayers, oh, they had a soft schedule.
00:37:57Yeah, they had an easy schedule.
00:37:58So did Denver.
00:37:59And they wound up playing in Denver and might have lost the game at Bo Nix plate.
00:38:03Who knows?
00:38:04Anyway, they get to the Super Bowl, shockingly, they did a great job.
00:38:07And then they go out and they get Brown and Dobbs and these other big-time guys.
00:38:13Yeah.
00:38:13So I look for them to not have a Super Bowl hangover.
00:38:17I think, I don't know if they ever get back there, but I think they're going to have a good
00:38:21season.
00:38:22Yeah.
00:38:23I think everybody would be surprised if they fell off.
00:38:25I don't know if they're going to get to the Super Bowl.
00:38:27Maybe they will.
00:38:27But I think the football team is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
00:38:29And they're just so sound, so fundamentally sound with Grable in charge as the head coach.
00:38:3512 minutes left in the game.
00:38:37Terminal Tower.
00:38:41So how did last year's Patriots change their fortune?
00:38:44Well, the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft and Magic conjures some answers.
00:38:48Going undefeated on the road helped winning all eight of their games away from Foxborough
00:38:52and moved to a 10-win turnaround from the season prior.
00:38:55Part of the charm, well, the easiest schedule in football as the Pats became AFC champions
00:38:59in Mike Brable's first season before ultimately losing to Seattle in the Super Bowl.
00:39:03So what's in the cards this year?
00:39:04The toughest opening four-game stretch since 1986.
00:39:07But Brable told us it's a path he's embracing as this team builds its own identity,
00:39:12saying they have to go through adversity to figure out how they need to play to win, guys.
00:39:17For sure.
00:39:18I mean, that's a rough start.
00:39:20But, you know, you come out of something like that, you come out three and one, boy,
00:39:25you're really rolling because you're going to get the Dolphins and the Jets
00:39:27and some other teams down the line, obviously.
00:39:30But a rough way to begin.
00:39:32Very, very rough.
00:39:33But it goes back to what he talks about a lot about your identity is critical
00:39:38because your culture gets tested when you go through those tough times.
00:39:41How do you respond?
00:39:44I mean, they used the Baltimore guy.
00:39:47I was talking to Zach Kern.
00:39:47I said, do you remember when this defense changed?
00:39:50Like, when did it go from being a young defense trying to find its way to –
00:39:53he said, I think it was the Baltimore game last year.
00:39:55We faced some adversity and we came through it and found a way to win the game.
00:40:00And it almost taught us that even if we hit some adversity, it's okay.
00:40:05Like, we've proven that we can do that.
00:40:07It was such a young defense.
00:40:08There's Zach Kerr there on the right who took over for Terrell Williams as the defensive play caller.
00:40:13And, of course, the D.C. this year did an incredible job.
00:40:16And they feel really good about it.
00:40:18They lost a few pieces, but the guys that they're going to replace,
00:40:21I think they feel that this group could be maybe even better than they were on defense last year.
00:40:29Speaking of Williams, the first down has gotten here by Marshall.
00:40:33Good to see him back.
00:40:34Yeah.
00:40:35Because they had hoped that, you know, prostate cancer, tough.
00:40:39Oh, yeah.
00:40:40Had to back away.
00:40:41That's how Kerr got the job.
00:40:42And now he is back and personally very healthy.
00:40:45Yeah, it's awesome.
00:40:46And I would say with Terrell Williams and Zach Kerr,
00:40:48one of the big things that I think is underrated about this staff is the continuity.
00:40:53A lot of these guys have worked together for six or seven years.
00:40:56You go back to Tennessee when Brable was the head coach with the Titans.
00:41:00He brought them back when he became the head guy in New England.
00:41:02So this defensive staff, a lot of these guys have been around and been together.
00:41:06And I think that helps when it comes to getting the same message across to the entire defense.
00:41:13To the outside, so room to room.
00:41:15Looks to that marker to pick up the first.
00:41:17Very close.
00:41:18Green.
00:41:20There's Kevin Beyer right there who came over from Chicago as a free agent.
00:41:26He'll be teamed up with Craig Woodson on the back end.
00:41:30You think about Christian Gonzalez, you got Marcus Jones in the slot,
00:41:33Carlton Davis at the other side.
00:41:35I mean, think about that back end alone, what they have to work with.
00:41:39And Spillane and Christian Ellis at middle linebacker.
00:41:43They've added some depth there on the outside.
00:41:46There's Gonzalez there in the glasses.
00:41:48And the ice there around the neck.
00:41:51Still trying to get that long-term contract.
00:41:54Don't you feel like that's imminent?
00:41:56I feel like that's going to, with Witherspoon getting his deal, same agent.
00:42:01It just feels like that's going to happen soon.
00:42:04Well, the minute you see somebody and your agent's got that guy, you're going,
00:42:07It's coming.
00:42:08Hold on a second.
00:42:09Yeah.
00:42:09Yeah.
00:42:10And Boyd, has he proven what he's all about in three years?
00:42:13This will be his fourth year out of Oregon.
00:42:15Mm-hmm.
00:42:17But yeah, like I said, he and Davis and Jones on the back side is.
00:42:22And you move up front with Elijah Ponder in his second year, Harold Landry.
00:42:27I mean, all around it.
00:42:28It's a good group.
00:42:29Not a lot of holes, even though, you know, Rabel was talking about depth.
00:42:32Yeah.
00:42:33But that's an issue for every team.
00:42:38I've never seen a team take more pride in untrafted free agents than the New England Patriots.
00:42:44Going back to Bill Belichick, and that continues with Rabel.
00:42:47And I asked Zach Kerr about that.
00:42:49I said, you guys find this, every year you find smart, dependable, football-savvy guys.
00:42:55He goes, that goes to the, that's the head man.
00:42:57He goes, I think it has something to do with his first four years in Pittsburgh.
00:43:01Before he went to New England, he didn't play.
00:43:03He didn't start.
00:43:04And he just created a chip on his shoulder.
00:43:06So he's always looking for those guys.
00:43:08He calls them street rats.
00:43:10Like those guys that want to just, they love the game and they want an opportunity to play with great
00:43:16hunger.
00:43:17And with that chip on their shoulder.
00:43:20Look at that.
00:43:21First down here.
00:43:22Yep.
00:43:23That's the draft picks that they have.
00:43:25And they, they're as good as anybody getting into that fifth, sixth, and seventh round.
00:43:29And like I said, the untrafted free agents.
00:43:31A lot of these guys, they make the roster and they do create that depth.
00:43:36A little wolf.
00:43:38Yeah.
00:43:38Outstanding.
00:43:39Right.
00:43:39Of course, some pretty good heritage there as well.
00:43:43Dad was, that was pretty good.
00:43:45Yeah.
00:43:46Ron, there he is.
00:43:48And of course, uh, Robert Crabb, you think about it.
00:43:51Robert Crabb is going into his fourth decade as the owner of this team.
00:43:55Crazy.
00:43:56Bought in 1995.
00:44:00And, and think about the consistency.
00:44:03Wouldn't you put them up there with about anybody?
00:44:05For sure.
00:44:06I mean, maybe in sports.
00:44:07Oh yeah.
00:44:07When it comes to the consistency of losing players, losing coaches.
00:44:12What teams have two decade runs like that?
00:44:15Name, name one.
00:44:17Can't find it.
00:44:17In any sport.
00:44:19I mean, the Cowboys back in the 70s, Steelers obviously in that one decade of the 70s when
00:44:24they won all four of their Super Bowls.
00:44:2649ers for about a decade and a third.
00:44:30But, two decades?
00:44:31I'm always amazed at, if you were looking for the most talented roster all those years,
00:44:36I don't think, I mean, they got the quarterback, right?
00:44:39Of course.
00:44:39But, but they find guys that just kind of fit roles.
00:44:43Right.
00:44:44And take pride in that role, whether it's special teams or it's being a backup tackle or whatever
00:44:49it is.
00:44:50And, and they don't, they don't drop off when they lose, when they lose a, you know, a main,
00:44:55a main player.
00:44:56Once in a while they'll take a star and he becomes even better.
00:44:59Right.
00:45:00Randy.
00:45:00Randy Mons.
00:45:01Yeah.
00:45:01Yeah.
00:45:02I just think they look for intelligent football players who love the game and have something
00:45:08to prove.
00:45:09And they put them all together.
00:45:10They mix it up.
00:45:12And you just, you got really good culture and chemistry every single year on this, with
00:45:17this franchise.
00:45:1835.
00:45:2139.
00:45:25Pass.
00:45:27A little too high and incomplete.
00:45:30So now, if you're the Browns, you know you're gonna obviously keep Watson and Sanders a bit.
00:45:37So you're gonna have a meeting this week.
00:45:41Who do you keep?
00:45:42Who do you, who do you not?
00:45:45I, I, there's no way.
00:45:47See, I, this was not a one night Dylan Gabriel thing for me.
00:45:51I've seen this kid do exactly what he did tonight.
00:45:53Almost every start he made in college.
00:45:57Whether it was at UCF, Oklahoma or Oregon.
00:45:59So this is who he is to me.
00:46:01And with Todd Munkin's system and calling the plays and building it.
00:46:04I don't know how you let him go personally.
00:46:07There's no way I would let him leave.
00:46:10Agreed.
00:46:11Fair catch at the 11.
00:46:13Six and a half left in this one in Cleveland.
00:46:18Browns up by three touchdowns.
00:46:26Well, the NFL celebrates youth in high school football year-round through Play Football,
00:46:30an initiative aimed at creating positive experiences for players, coaches, and parents
00:46:34with the goal of preserving and promoting the values of the game.
00:46:36Learn more at PlayFootball.com as you look at the girls' high school flag football team,
00:46:43including McKinley High School in Canton, alma mater of Josh McDaniels and Dan Dierdorf.
00:46:49No way.
00:46:50Are you kidding me?
00:46:51Yeah.
00:46:51I didn't know that.
00:46:52There you go.
00:46:52Good one.
00:46:54I have to learn something.
00:46:55Andrew Whitworth, ladies and gentlemen.
00:46:57So, I told you Fitz is in contention for an Emmy.
00:47:01Okay.
00:47:01You better bring your A game.
00:47:03Okay?
00:47:03That's all he has.
00:47:05I hope you don't say sagacious.
00:47:08I'll have to Google it out.
00:47:09Unless you're in Ohio State.
00:47:10Listen, I went in the SEC, baby.
00:47:12We played football.
00:47:13I'm right there.
00:47:13I'll need a TV timeout if you say any of those words.
00:47:16Break it down.
00:47:20Anyway, I'm interested in the Cleveland Browns offensive line.
00:47:24Five new starters.
00:47:26Five guys who come from everywhere.
00:47:28How hard is that as a unit?
00:47:30Did you ever have five new linemen with you or four others?
00:47:33Not that many.
00:47:34I mean, when you really think about it, I think that's part of this major.
00:47:36One of the things that made such a decision for Todd Munkin with Deshaun Watson
00:47:39is that you got five new guys.
00:47:41You need some kind of stability.
00:47:43So, I need a veteran quarterback in there.
00:47:44At least he's been in the moment.
00:47:45He's been on the road.
00:47:46Six of their first nine games are on the road.
00:47:49You're going to need, hey, none of these guys have worked together.
00:47:51They've only had one practice.
00:47:52The one joint practice they had is the only time they've all gotten a chance
00:47:55to go with each other in a live setting.
00:47:58So, that's the challenge for this team early.
00:48:00Can you talk for the fans to understand?
00:48:02They see players and they say, this guy played here.
00:48:04This guy played here.
00:48:04But developing five is one.
00:48:07And how long that takes, how realistic that is where you can communicate on the road
00:48:12and make sure you're all on the same page.
00:48:14How tough is that to have five new guys up front?
00:48:17Well, Kirk, it's the only position in the world that plays with their back to the ball at all times.
00:48:21So, this position's about feel.
00:48:23My ability to feel where the ball is, not just in the passing game, in the run game.
00:48:26There's a marriage to how the running back moves and the lineman block.
00:48:29There's a feel that we each have for one another.
00:48:32And that quarterback, where he is, how he changes cadence, the things he does with the rhythm of his cadence.
00:48:37All those things, we have to be on the same page and have a feel for.
00:48:40And that's going to be the challenge of a young team on the road early a lot this season.
00:48:44First two games on the road.
00:48:45And is that something that just through repetition and film study and mistakes,
00:48:49is that something by week five, week six?
00:48:52I mean, how long does that typically take?
00:48:54I don't know if you've ever been on a group where it's five new guys.
00:48:56I've had some young guys, and I think really when you talk about it, the silent count.
00:48:59When you're on the road, you said that the first two games.
00:49:01It's getting a rhythm for how does the center move when that silence is coming?
00:49:04Because I'm staring at the ball the whole time.
00:49:05So, now I've got to be able to hear the quarterback, understand the checks and the changes that we make,
00:49:09and understand the rhythm of how the center snaps the ball.
00:49:12That's a little thing, but it matters a lot.
00:49:14Because when you start passing games, you look at all the twists and stunts the NFL now plays with.
00:49:18As an offensive lineman, I've got to go from looking at the ball, finding my guy,
00:49:22and understanding who we have on each play.
00:49:24You're going to go through a lot of mistakes before you figure out ways to do it together.
00:49:28So, it's fourth down here, and with a little more than four to go,
00:49:33Patriots will line up to go for it.
00:49:34We're going to get to Will Campbell in just a second.
00:49:36I want you to talk about what you've seen from him.
00:49:40Let's see what happens on fourth down here.
00:49:44T-Man getting ready to roll in a commercial, so we've got to see what happens.
00:49:50Fourth and two.
00:49:51Move the steps here.
00:49:53Keep Witt.
00:49:53Come on.
00:49:54Keep Witt here, regardless.
00:49:55Oh, you son of a biscuit.
00:49:57Oh!
00:49:58We're keeping Witt anyway.
00:49:59Intercepted here.
00:50:01Jefferson.
00:50:02So on his feet.
00:50:04Down to the 11-yard line he goes.
00:50:07Justin Jefferson, a rookie out of Alabama.
00:50:11Witt, don't go anywhere.
00:50:13No way.
00:50:13We're coming right back with three and a half to go in the fourth.
00:50:17We're actually staying.
00:50:21Real quick, this is an example of a young quarterback that's trying to get a field to just, you know,
00:50:28this is growing pains for Baron Morton.
00:50:30Held on to the ball too long.
00:50:33Ends up trying to get out to make a play.
00:50:35By the time he does, you know, in the NFL, these guys, they're closing speeds at a whole different level.
00:50:39But learning opportunity for the young guy.
00:50:42Speed of the game.
00:50:42These guys, when they get out and scramble, it's not college football.
00:50:44There's some really special athletes on that field.
00:50:47You got to get that ball out.
00:50:48Probably not a great decision right there either way.
00:50:50Yeah.
00:50:50But you definitely got to get rid of it.
00:50:54So Cleveland with the ball again.
00:50:56Inside the 10.
00:50:57So I asked Ryan, and you probably heard it, I said, be a life coach for Deshaun Watson.
00:51:04So Will Campbell took a lot of heat, especially at the end of last year, especially in the Super Bowl.
00:51:09As a Hall of Famer to be, what would you tell Will Campbell at this point after last season?
00:51:14Probably already don't.
00:51:14You probably do.
00:51:15Yeah, I think there's a lot of things.
00:51:16I think, first and foremost, I'd say hold your chin high and remember something.
00:51:19How many rookie left tackles have started opening day one and finished a season as the starter in the Super
00:51:24Bowl?
00:51:24It ain't a long list.
00:51:25So I'd be proud of what you've done.
00:51:27Now, let's talk about accountability.
00:51:28How can we be better in those moments?
00:51:30What are some of the ways you could have been better, handled it better?
00:51:33I think he's done that all offseason.
00:51:34He's talked about, I could have been better even with the injury.
00:51:37I know we got together with Lane Johnson, Tristan Wirth, and some of the guys this offseason.
00:51:42He's talked about physically how good he feels.
00:51:44I got a chance to visit with him pregame.
00:51:46He's excited to go out and show people what he's made of.
00:51:48I think one thing that gets lost, Al, and you tell me if I'm missing this.
00:51:52Before the injury, he was top ten as a left tackle in his pass pro, in his rate.
00:51:59And then after the MCL injury, obviously, he was 50th.
00:52:02So what's it like?
00:52:04Did you ever have an MCL like that?
00:52:06And what would that do to a young guy, not only trying to deal with the quickness of the defense
00:52:10and all the complexity, but now dealing with an MCL injury?
00:52:13Well, I think it's one of those things, your stability, your ability to anchor, really change direction on rushes.
00:52:19You look at the way these guys were rushing him late in the year.
00:52:21The other thing, Kirk, that's huge, and I use this word all the time, and it has a lot to
00:52:23do with young players in the NFL, exposure.
00:52:25When you're a young tackle and you play that long into the season, think about it.
00:52:29You got all this stuff.
00:52:30When you heard the Seattle Seahawks talk about how they played him, we'd studied kind of who got him throughout
00:52:34the year.
00:52:35That's the rushes we went after him with.
00:52:37So you've got enough tape for them to know exactly how to attack you now, and you're playing through an
00:52:42injury.
00:52:42All right, we're gonna go in a commercial.
00:52:44I need one more thing from you in 10 seconds.
00:52:47Aaron Donald, playing or not playing?
00:52:50I think he's playing.
00:52:51I think we gotta figure out all the little parts that go into it, baby.
00:52:54I think he's playing.
00:52:55Listen, you go put a helmet on and hit a sled, you're playing football.
00:52:58I don't care what you say.
00:52:59You're gonna figure it out.
00:53:00Wait, how do you find britches to fit, honestly?
00:53:04Big and tall, baby.
00:53:05I got Peter Millar right here.
00:53:07This is my Peter Millar golf band.
00:53:09There you go.
00:53:10Beautiful.
00:53:11Hey, pal.
00:53:11Won't see you until the hotel bar.
00:53:14Yeah.
00:53:14See you in a minute, brother.
00:53:21All right, boys and girls, welcome to astronomy class.
00:53:24This is a partial lunar eclipse.
00:53:27It might be less impressive than a total eclipse, but the eclipse tonight, anything but ordinary,
00:53:33the moon won't be completely equipped.
00:53:36So this is not technically a blood moon, but much of the lunar surface is expected to take
00:53:40on a red issue with just a thin sliver remaining, brightly illuminated.
00:53:46Yes, sir.
00:53:47Here it is.
00:53:47It's not a possum.
00:53:48It's certainly not a possum.
00:53:50It's not a possum on moon.
00:53:54We just want to clarify.
00:53:55We would need Keith Jackson to come back and elucidate with that.
00:53:59But there it is, ladies and gentlemen, a partial lunar eclipse live on Prime Video.
00:54:04Two-minute warning.
00:54:08Well, this is the beauty of Thursday night football drive.
00:54:11Oh!
00:54:12I mean, are you kidding me?
00:54:14It don't get much prettier than that.
00:54:16Crazy stuff happening on Thursday nights and every week.
00:54:19We want more!
00:54:26And there we go on the 17th of September, opening night at the new Highmark.
00:54:32Two great quarterbacks.
00:54:34Two teams that figure to be in the hunt all season long.
00:54:38As you look at Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland, Ohio, downtown in the background.
00:54:47And again, we're moving out to Brook Park.
00:54:50We're back here September 30th.
00:54:52Is that right?
00:54:53For the Steelers or something?
00:54:54It's week five.
00:54:55It's later.
00:54:56Isn't it later than that, guys?
00:54:57October.
00:54:59October something.
00:55:00Early October.
00:55:01Early October.
00:55:02We'll be back in October.
00:55:03But what I was going to say is, you know, McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers going up against this Cleveland defense.
00:55:09Yeah.
00:55:09And Miles Garrett now where Witt used to play with the Los Angeles Rams.
00:55:13We're all excited to see what he's going to be able to do there.
00:55:16But Rudy's got Jared Burks.
00:55:18And I had a chance to talk to him on the field before the game.
00:55:21And of course, you know, he loved the Rams.
00:55:23He loved his time there.
00:55:24But I'll tell you, he's kind of giddy about being in a football town that's really hungry.
00:55:32And about becoming kind of an alpha.
00:55:35You know, with the Rams, he was a young guy that was kind of earning his way.
00:55:38He comes over to Cleveland, especially with Garrett going to L.A.
00:55:41And I think he realizes that people are going to be counting on him, not just to be able to
00:55:45get to the quarterback, but to be able to provide some leadership.
00:55:48And he said, man, we're about to go off this year.
00:55:51So it'll be exciting to see what he can do and see this city really embrace his energy and the
00:55:57way his style of play.
00:55:58Well, that's one way to look at it.
00:56:00And it's the right way for him, at least in his mind.
00:56:03The other thing is you're leaving a team that right now is probably the favorite to get to the Super
00:56:08Bowl.
00:56:09Yeah.
00:56:09But he's going to, you know, I think he, who wouldn't want to be in L.A., right, with what
00:56:14they're doing.
00:56:15But at the same time, he's got to try to look at it in a very positive way where he
00:56:19is now.
00:56:20So the injured Brown injury timeout here is Logan Fano.
00:56:29That's his brother, who's also on the team.
00:56:32Spencer.
00:56:33Yep.
00:56:36And he's up.
00:56:39Need some assistance off the field.
00:56:41Looking better now.
00:56:47Looks like there he just, at the end of that play, you always worry about getting rolled up on or
00:56:52see what happens here.
00:56:55Ah, didn't really see too much.
00:56:58He's walking off on his, under his own power, so he should be okay.
00:57:02Looks decent.
00:57:05His brother right there.
00:57:06Come on, man.
00:57:07Busting chops.
00:57:08Mm-hmm.
00:57:11What's life all about?
00:57:12You got him.
00:57:12You can't push shots.
00:57:13Yeah, you got him.
00:57:14Come on.
00:57:16First down.
00:57:19And they're about a nine-and-a-half yard game here to Kyle Dixon.
00:57:24Horton's had some moments tonight.
00:57:26You know, he's showing you what he's capable of doing.
00:57:28And again, I think there's such an adjustment.
00:57:30And, I mean, it's right before our eyes.
00:57:32You could see that the game moves very, very fast for him.
00:57:36Like any rookie quarterback, he's learning every single rep.
00:57:40But, you know, he's had, you know, a couple picks.
00:57:43Hadn't been able to really get the ball downfield much.
00:57:48You know, we've had so much going on here tonight.
00:57:50Getting another call here.
00:57:52Want to apologize to Kyle Dixon's family.
00:57:56He's, well, we were doing all this Khazari.
00:57:59He's caught eight balls tonight.
00:58:01All right.
00:58:05Eight for 71.
00:58:06Ball start.
00:58:06Number 67.
00:58:08Offense.
00:58:08The clock was running.
00:58:10This foul requires a ten-second subtraction.
00:58:14We set the clock to 45.
00:58:17Second down.
00:58:18Okay, by us.
00:58:21Yeah, Braves isn't happy about that.
00:58:30So Mike coaching it right to the end.
00:58:33Right to the end of the final preseason game.
00:58:37And we'll keep the clock running.
00:58:40First down.
00:58:41Nice move there.
00:58:42CJ Dupre to the 43.
00:58:45Under a half minute now.
00:58:49So Todd Munkin will take his team.
00:58:54Two weeks from Sunday down to Florida.
00:58:57Down to Jacksonville.
00:59:00And open up the 2026 regular season.
00:59:04Look out.
00:59:07Comes out the back door.
00:59:08Just flings it out of bounds.
00:59:10Thank goodness.
00:59:11We're going to get one more shot here.
00:59:13Please.
00:59:14Yeah.
00:59:15Miracles do happen.
00:59:17Oh, that's what I heard.
00:59:18Yeah.
00:59:21All right.
00:59:21I never asked you.
00:59:23Would you put what happened in the Olympics this year against Canada?
00:59:28Is it?
00:59:29Is it?
00:59:30I know it's modern version, but is it in that same stratosphere?
00:59:34Very different.
00:59:35Yeah.
00:59:36Oh, yeah.
00:59:37College kids.
00:59:37Cold war.
00:59:39Yeah.
00:59:39The whole thing.
00:59:40Huge upset.
00:59:41Huge.
00:59:43Biggest of all time.
00:59:44Right?
00:59:45Big.
00:59:45I mean, Buster Douglas.
00:59:47Mike Tyson.
00:59:48That was 43 to one.
00:59:49This may have been 100 to one.
00:59:50Yep.
00:59:53Anyway.
00:59:53Different galaxy.
00:59:54It's on its own.
00:59:55Yeah.
00:59:56Totally.
00:59:57Yep.
00:59:57At least in my mind.
01:00:00All of our minds.
01:00:00Whatever.
01:00:01Whatever's left.
01:00:01Whatever's left of my mind.
01:00:0437 13 is our final.
01:00:07And do not.
01:00:08Do not touch that dial.
01:00:11Or that now.
01:00:12So however you're watching this game.
01:00:13Because Carissa Fitz and Witt.
01:00:15Will wrap things up.
01:00:17On the TNF post game show.
01:00:20Coming your way.
01:00:21Right after these messages.
01:00:27You.
01:00:29You.
01:00:31You.
01:00:32You.
01:00:33You.
