03:04Well, we are going to see many of the Raiders starters tonight,
03:07and for quite a while, that's the anticipation,
03:09not a starter but a headliner, is the rookie, Fernando Mendoza,
03:13the quarterback drafted number one, and for more on him,
03:15let's go down to the field at Vern Glenn.

03:18All right, guys, while the Niners 1-2 quarterback situation is dialed in,
03:23the Raiders' situation, eh, complicated.
03:27NFL veteran Kirk Cousins will start tonight,
03:29but all eyes will be on the number one overall pick, Fernando Mendoza,
03:34who's expected to get substantial playing time
03:37as the debate continues to grow on if this Heisman Trophy winner
03:42should be running the offense for the Silver and Black.
03:45It'll be interesting to see how both quarterbacks play tonight
03:49and if this will impact head coach Clint Kubiak's decision moving forward.
03:56All right, Vern, well, you know you can't talk offense without talking about
03:59the guys calling offense.
04:01Clint Kubiak, who was in his first year as the head coach of the Raiders,
04:03last year coordinated the Super Bowl winning offense in Seattle,
04:06previously on the staff here with the San Francisco 49ers.
04:09of course, Clay Kubiak is calling plays for this preseason game
04:14for Kyle Shanahan's offense as Kyle gets ready to get everybody on a plane
04:19and to head off to Australia.
04:20But you're number 10.
04:21You're number 10 for him.
04:22You're number 10, of course, for John Lynch.
04:24What a combination and high hopes once again as we wrap up this preseason.
04:28Yeah, and what a combination of coaches.
04:30Papa Shanahan, Mike Shanahan made with, you know, Gary Kubiak,
04:34and then Kyle working for Gary and then Clint and Clay both working for Kyle.
04:38Got to know Clint pretty well when he was here.
04:41And I'll tell you what, and there's Clay right there.
04:45And Clay is really, really bright, as we know.
04:49I think one thing about the Raiders is they went out
04:51and they signed an offensive line coach and hired Rick Denison,
04:54who was trained in the system with the Shanahan's.
04:57He could coach it in his sleep in terms of his own running game.
05:00And that's where the Raiders really need to get better is up front on the offensive line.
05:04Well, you can see plenty of red, just as was the case last week at SoFi Stadium
05:08in that preseason game against the Chargers.
05:11Red, the dominant color in the stands.
05:17Eddie Pinheiro is going to kick it away for the 49ers today.
05:21You know, you said it, Tim,
05:23but the fact that the Raiders are playing their starters,
05:25what an opportunity, not just for guys battling for roster spots,
05:28but guys battling for position.
05:30And what a feather in the cap for the evaluators.
05:33Tonight's all about evaluate and survive.
05:35Coaches and the GM and John's staff to evaluate and the players survive.
05:40But I like the fact we're going to be able to see guys
05:43that really happen to play for a spot here,
05:45going up against some starters early in this game.
05:47Better evaluation for all of them.
05:49Year 15, here it is for Kirk Cousins.
05:51His first year in Vegas.
05:54We've got Fernando Mendoza looking over his shoulder.
05:57And pretty incredible, the career he's put together.
06:00Yeah, and I watched the first preseason game, watched both of them,
06:03but he went right down the field against Arizona,
06:05five of six, finishing with a touchdown.
06:07No, Ashton Gentry for the Raiders,
06:09who suffered an ankle injury during an indoor practice over the weekend.
06:14But everybody else, for the most part, in there,
06:17Mike Washington Jr., the rookie fourth-rounder from Arkansas,
06:20gets the carry for seven yards.
06:22And we take a look at our Levi's starting lineup for the 49ers defense.
06:27Good to see C.J. West in there as well,
06:29along with Alfred Collins on the interior.
06:33There's Duggar, who's had an impressive camp along with Bethune
06:36and Graham Duggar, the rookie, of course.
06:38Jack Jones, the former Raider,
06:40who has been play a day in practice.
06:42You know, he'd love to make a play today.
06:44He'll be trying, I'll tell you that.
06:46Second is short for Kirk Cousins.
06:50Michael Mayer went in motion there to put the nice block on Keyon White.
06:54And Jones makes the tackle,
06:55but not before the Raiders pick up the first first down of the night.
06:58Yeah, and a big hole there for Mike Washington to get through.
07:01He is a big back. It's all going to the right.
07:03They get a double team on C.J. West,
07:05and then they get Jalen Graham cut off
07:07and provide a nice hole there for the big running back.
07:11And Jack Jones has got to come up from his cornerback spot
07:13and make that tackle.
07:15That is Connor Hayward, one of the blockers on that play,
07:18the fullback.
07:19Big addition to this offense.
07:21Came over from the Steelers,
07:22where he played with his brother Cameron Hayward,
07:24the star defensive tackle, son of Ironhead.
07:28Hayward.
07:29And Kirk Cousins to throw,
07:31and it is nearly intercepted on it.
07:33Jack Jones was smelling a pick six there,
07:35was able to break it up.
07:37All over it.
07:38And Jack Jones, I watch him do this in pregame,
07:41and he gets a little drop,
07:42keeps his eyes on the quarterback,
07:43watch him flip his eyes back.
07:45He knows where the route's coming to Brock Bowers on the end,
07:48cut drives on it,
07:49and almost gets himself an interception.
07:51No one has had their hand on more footballs in practice
07:55this training camp than Jack Jones.

08:08And this time, Bowers is able to hold on,
08:10took a hit from Tatum Bethune.
08:12The pride of Napa in his third year,
08:14had an incredible year as a rookie.
08:15Bowers did two years ago,
08:18was an all-pro over 1,000 yards,
08:20receiving battles of knee injuries last year,
08:22helping now.
08:23He's super talented,
08:24and again, eyes on the quarterback.
08:25He's going to take you to the football,
08:27and that's how you bracket off and clamp
08:29with your nickel corner and your Mike linebacker.
08:32Everybody's staying on track
08:33and forcing this third down.
