Cosmopolitan Syncopators - My Canary Has Circles Under His Eyes

This appears to be a pseudonym for the British bandleader Howard Godfrey. Very little is known about him. The nephew of Sir Dan Godfrey, a famous symphonic conductor, Howard Godfrey referred to himself as the black sheep of the family, being the only one whose musical direction was towards dance band music. Howard Godfrey directed the band at the Waldorf Hotel in London for some years; the band recorded for Edison Bell Winner, Victory, Piccadilly and other labels and was always augmented from its original five-piece to a full dance band for recordings. This great and funny side was recorded in 1931. Vocal by Al Bowlly.
