Club de Vingt Orchestra - April Showers
This totally unknown ensemble appears to be an outfit led by Jack Harris. It seems the recordings he made for Edison were his very first. For the rest, information is extremely scarce about this remarkable bandleader, who recorded in the USA but mainly – and quite profusely – in Britain. Harris directed various bands in America, and arrived in England in the autumn of 1927 to play at the Embassy Club in London. In late 1929, he became the resident band at the Grosvenor House Hotel in the same city, and later he moved to Ciro's Club, before returning to America in 1940. He waxed many dozens of sides in the 30s but as said above, this charming tune is one of his first ones, made in 1921.
