00:00Green Bay only Peyton Manning has won more NFL MVPs he's won for the Super Bowl
00:05championship Super Bowl 45 it ends in Green Bay goes to the Jets tears his
00:11Achilles he did not like the way the experience went with the Jets so so glad
00:15to be here in Pittsburgh for this opportunity we thought was for one year
00:19but who knows Roger's first down throw is broken up by Marlon Humphrey trying to
00:24get it his former Packer teammate Marquez Valdez Scantling we walked into the
00:29meeting at the Steelers facility on Friday it's like hey let's go maybe our
00:32last production meeting with Aaron's like have you thought about this being the
00:35last week any thoughts and he said no and he's left the door open to playing again
00:41because he had fun this year playing for Pittsburgh and for Mike Tom yeah and I've
00:48got to think this game is going to have a lot to do with that decision if he takes
00:52the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs without DK Metcalf that would be a
00:56really impressive accomplishment because this has really hurt this football and
01:02in particular hurt Aaron Rodgers that throw in the middle Wiggins with the
01:06coverage incomplete trying to get it to Adam Thielen the veteran receiver you
01:12talk about the separation of receivers it's just not there with the guys they
01:15have right now well that's exactly right because if you watch this team play one of
01:20the best games we saw Aaron Rodgers play this year was against the Ravens yeah he
01:24looked great he's hitting deep balls down the field and it was you know DK Metcalf all
01:29over the place and then other guys started to get open but this offense
01:33doesn't have that sort of weaponry without him and so now it is up to the guy
01:41who's been around and seen it all to figure it out somehow for the Pittsburgh Steelers
01:46over the next three quarters and everything was covered so they try to go to the air three
01:50times and another veteran Kyle Van Nooy at age 34 eight years younger than Rodgers
01:56dropping back in coverage had that one blanketed that's an 0-3 passing three and out for Pittsburgh
02:02well and they have really been mixing up the coverage very well so Van Nooy is going to go out and cover the flat here which is something I guess it his age he'd love to do but they kind of have this whole thing blanked
02:04and what we've seen out of Aaron Rodgers the last few weeks even without the great pass rush as he needs to get the ball out of his hands to his receivers as quickly as possible flag is down the left footed kicker West
02:11Waidman kicks it to West makes the fair catch right around the 30s flag came out at the line of scrimmage he saw Jabril Peppers the gunner was pointing out to his right before the snap
02:33you saw Jabril Peppers the gunner was pointing out to his right before the snails
02:40before the snap came to Waitman.
02:43A lot of special teams penalties
02:45so far in this one.
02:49Going over to talk to John Harbaugh.
02:50This would be accepted penalty
02:52number seven on the night.
02:54It would be the third on Pittsburgh.
02:57Illegal motion.
02:59Kicking team number 15.
03:01Five-yard penalty.
03:03Replayed.
03:04So they're going to ask him to re-kick it.
03:06Yeah, I like that too because a lot of times
03:09these guys covering the punt
03:11all of a sudden they don't really
03:13want to go do it again
03:15and you get a little tired
03:16and sometimes you can break one of these.
03:18He has Ben Skoranek to come back.
03:20Peppers did.
03:21Ben Skoranek is the gunner.
03:22He's one of the best in the league.
03:24He's a pro bowler.
03:24But you see that vice?
03:26Those two guys trying to keep Skoranek
03:28from getting in play?
03:29They know they're going to have to find ways
03:31to get Skoranek free
03:32against that vice tonight.
03:34And that time that motion costs him.
03:36Now Peppers moves Skoranek back
03:38before the snap comes.
03:40And now they've got the return set up
03:41so an opportunity here for the Ravens.
03:45When it gets organized
03:46it's another good kick by a wingman
03:48and Wester Fair catches it
03:49at the 35-yard line.
03:53A lot of little stuff for 53 yards
03:55but this is a game where
03:56every little thing matters.
03:59Two closely matched teams
04:00playing for the AFC North title tonight.
04:03was the co-favorite to win the Super Bowl this season.
04:10Then they went 1-5.
04:11Playoff chances down to 38%.
04:13But then they spun around
04:14with the five-game win streak.
04:15Lamar got healthy
04:16off the hamstring injury.
04:18Everything's good, right?
04:19No.
04:19Lost three of the next four.
04:21Record 7-8.
04:23Playoff chances down to 6%.
04:24But then the Saturday night win
04:26at Lambeau over the Packers.
04:29And then the Browns do the Ravens a favor.
04:32They beat the Steelers
04:33setting up this one game tonight.
04:35Daniel Falalele, the right guard,
04:37is back in
04:38after leaving during the last drive
04:40with injury.
04:41And Derrick Henry runs
04:43up the middle
04:44for 20 yards
04:46to the 45-yard line
04:47and a first down.
04:50Henry over 100 yards
04:52in the first half.
04:54So here's what happens
04:56when you get
04:57double-team action
04:58going like this
04:59back into these linebackers.
05:02And Derrick Henry
05:02can get a yard or two
05:04on the other side
05:05of the line of scrimmage.
05:06You could see Patrick Queen
05:08as Ricard was approaching
05:10almost cringe a little bit
05:13to one side.
05:15That is a 300-pound pullback
05:16coming down.
05:17And it is intimidating.
05:19He's got 111 yards
05:21actually to the total
05:22for Henry pushed back
05:23by Patrick Queen.
05:25John Harbaugh
05:26and the Ravens
05:27had that win Saturday night.
05:28Then they went home Sunday
05:29and Harms invited
05:30some of the staff
05:31and some of the players
05:31to his house
05:32to watch the game.
05:33And he shared this video
05:34with us.
05:35That's the last play
05:36of the game in Cleveland.
05:36Look who's watching
05:37who couldn't watch
05:38at that moment.
05:39Harbaugh!
05:39He comes around the corner!
05:41We're alive!
05:42We're alive!
05:44It was great stuff.
05:45But as he said,
05:47we were fans.
05:48So you see all those
05:49fan-posted videos
05:50that go viral
05:51of celebrations?
05:53The Ravens had their own moment
05:54knowing that they had
05:55a game tonight
05:56to make the playoffs.
05:58Incomplete.
05:59Jay Flowers open.
06:00Couldn't get it to him.
06:02Third and nine coming.
06:02Here's Melissa.
06:03Yeah, Mike.
06:03Mark Andrews told me
06:04before the season
06:05that he had to pinch himself
06:06when he looked around
06:07at the offense
06:08and saw all the weapons
06:09they had.
06:09But those weapons
06:11have rarely been on the field
06:12at the same time
06:13while dealing with
06:13all these different injuries.
06:14And he said,
06:15we faced a lot of adversity
06:16this year.
06:17We're shown what we're really
06:18made of.
06:19And now with everyone healthy,
06:20he said,
06:21we're peaking at the right time.
06:23If we let our talent shine,
06:25great things are going to happen.
06:26Our dream of winning
06:27a Super Bowl
06:27will stay alive.
06:29And my partner agrees
06:30with that, too.
06:30I think the Ravens
06:31can be really hot
06:32down the stretch.
06:33Gotta get in.
06:35Gotta win tonight.
06:37Third and nine.
06:39Steelers bring it four.
06:41Spying Lamar.
06:42Got a block.
06:42Got a first down.
06:44There goes Jackson
06:45to the 28-yard line.
06:46There is a flag down, though.
06:48Look at that hole
06:48opened up.
06:49So hold the phone
06:50on the gain of 15.
06:52It's coming back.
06:56Holding.
06:57Offense number 64.
06:59King John Pinnerly.
07:00Third down.
07:01That is their Pro Bowl center,
07:03Tyler Linderbaum.
07:05Completely unnecessary, too.
07:07They're going to effectively
07:08have two spies
07:09or at least man coverage
07:10with one spy right there.
07:12And there was no reason
07:14for Linderbaum to hold.
07:15You got Lamar Jackson.
07:17He can look around,
07:18see all of that green grass.
07:20There's no way
07:21anybody's going to tackle
07:23Lamar with that much space.
07:25And Linderbaum,
07:26who has just been
07:26a tremendous player
07:28for this team,
07:29makes a big mistake there.
07:31Third and 17.
07:32Zay Flowers,
07:40trying to get some blocks.
07:41There goes Flowers.
07:42Chased down by Watt and Ramsey.
07:45At the 41,
07:46it would set up
07:47fourth and a long six.
07:49Field goal from here
07:50would be 59 yards.
07:52Harbaugh told us last night,
07:55punts are good things
07:56in this game.
07:58And that is what
07:59they're going to do.
08:00They're going to punt the ball.
08:05So interesting.
08:06Tomlin went for it
08:07on fourth down.
08:07Similar area.
08:08Didn't get it.
08:09Left a short field.
08:10This is 10 yards more
08:11than what Pittsburgh faced.
08:13They're going to ask
08:14Jordan Stout to try
08:15to put it inside
08:16the 20
08:16for the 22nd time
08:18this year.
08:23Austin running over
08:24not going to get there.
08:26It was all of that,
08:28Chris.
08:29Stopped by Tyler Wallace
08:30over at the nine-yard line.
08:31Long field
08:32for the Steelers
08:33with 3.09 left
08:35in the final spot
08:37in the playoffs
08:37on the line tonight.
08:41The game he's ever played in
08:43Aaron Rodgers
08:44it is all on him tonight.
08:46Took his deep shot
08:47early on.
08:49Not quite Nate Wiggins
08:50there to make the play.
08:51This was the killer.
08:52They had it set up.
08:53Cleared out deep.
08:55Just simply could not
08:56hit Johnnie Smith.
08:57And this was the unusual,
08:59if you will.
08:59We have seen Aaron Rodgers
09:01no problem with the arm.
09:02He can certainly throw it
09:04with anybody.
09:05Even today,
09:06the legs,
09:07not so much.
09:08That's the biggest difference
09:10when you're talking
09:11about Aaron Rodgers
09:12at this point in his career.
09:13That used to be
09:15a first down
09:15every time.
09:17At 42 years old
09:18playing his 21st season.
09:2021 plays tonight
09:21for Pittsburgh.
09:22Only five runs.
09:23Green 18.
09:24Five runs for six yards.
09:26Trying to change that.
09:28Warren Wright
09:29may do so.
09:30Good game to the 24.
09:32That's 15.
09:33And a Pittsburgh first down.
09:35Now they're getting back
09:37to some Pittsburgh
09:37Steelers football here.
09:39Connor Hayward
09:40when he is in the game
09:41at fullback.
09:42That time they motion back in.
09:44When this guy
09:45is lead blocking
09:46it starts to feel
09:48like the Pittsburgh Steelers
09:49again.
09:50Which they really need.
09:51If they can establish
09:52even this kind
09:53of a running game
09:54some kind
09:55and allow Aaron Rodgers
09:57to get to some play action
09:58this could be
10:00a different game.
10:00You see the tight ends
10:04are targeted often.
10:06How many tight end
10:06catches tonight?
10:07Valdez Scantling.
10:08Kyle Hamilton
10:09throws him down.
10:11Gain of just a yard.
10:13All pro level player
10:15first round pick
10:16out of Notre Dame.
10:17He's played
10:17wherever they need him
10:18and he changes the game
10:20wherever he plays.
10:21Well, first of all
10:23he's the best safety
10:24in football right now.
10:25Let's just start there.
10:26But let's also give credit
10:27to the organization
10:28because Eloy Gilman
10:30was traded in here
10:31and that allowed
10:33Kyle Hamilton
10:33to come down
10:34around the line
10:35of scrimmage
10:36and when that happened
10:37this defense
10:38completely turned around.
10:39Eric DeCosta
10:40the GM
10:40with the big move
10:41at the trade deadline.
10:43We've hit the
10:43two minute warning.
10:44Ravens 10
10:45Steelers 3
10:46in the game
10:47for the North
10:48in Pittsburgh.
10:56The end of the full
10:57AFC and NFC schedules
10:59for Wild Card Weekend.
11:00Mike.
11:01Maria, can you tell us
11:02where we're going?
11:02Can you send me a text
11:04if you've got the schedule?
11:05We're waiting.
11:06We'll be watching
11:07at halftime.
11:08Find out where we're all
11:09going next weekend.
11:10Terrific Wild Card Weekend
11:11all across the networks
11:13and carry the NFL
11:14as we are on the road
11:16five weeks from tonight.
11:17Super Bowl 60
11:18in Santa Clara
11:19right here on NBC.
11:21Out of the two-minute timeout,
11:22second and nine from 25.
11:24Gainwell the back.
11:25Rogers looking that way
11:27and Wiggins with the coverage
11:28on the tight end.
11:29Fryer Muth, it's incomplete.
11:31So intended for a tight end
11:33who hasn't caught one yet.
11:35And Wiggins comes up
11:37with the play.
11:38Mike, it's a great point.
11:39We have typically seen
11:41this be a very tight end
11:42heavy kind of offense,
11:44but you've got a tight end
11:46against one of the fastest
11:48players in the National
11:49Football League.
11:49Wiggins certainly wasn't
11:51worried about Fryer Muth
11:52running past him
11:53and made the play.
11:54And this is a big game
11:56really for Wiggins.
11:56He was not very good
11:58a week ago
11:59against Green Bay
12:00and so far in this one
12:01he's done really well.
12:07Third and nine.
12:09Again, it's a four-man rush.
12:11Rogers has room to throw,
12:12room to run as well
12:13and he gets there
12:15for the first down
12:16to the 40-yard line.
12:17I can't tell you
12:26how many defenses
12:27I have seen destroyed
12:29when Aaron Rogers,
12:30when they rush forward
12:31and he always sees
12:33the open lanes.
12:34Always.
12:36Earlier in the first quarter
12:37he just couldn't get there.
12:38Enough of a gap that time
12:40and here we go.
12:41Full sprint for 20.
12:46Drive alive.
12:48On by Adam Thielen
12:49for eight
12:51to the Ravens,
12:52seven to the Ravens
12:5348-yard line
12:55for the former
12:55Minnesota Viking.
12:57At 35,
12:58he said that
12:58this is his last year.
13:00That was when
13:00he started the season.
13:02And we've seen
13:03this offense
13:04pick up a little bit
13:05when they've gone
13:06to the no huddle.
13:08I think it may be
13:09something that might
13:10work for Pittsburgh here.
13:12The Ravens add
13:13some pressure.
13:14They don't.
13:15They slip inside.
13:16The bounce outside
13:17for Gainwell.
13:19The 36-yard line.
13:21Remember,
13:21the Steelers
13:22get the ball
13:23to start the second half.
13:25So Pittsburgh
13:25in a good spot
13:27right now
13:28as a timeout
13:29is taken.
13:31So now you're
13:32turning it into
13:33a mental battle
13:34out there
13:35against Aaron Rogers.
13:36So they're going
13:36to drop out,
13:37just rush.
13:38So let's just
13:39dump it down
13:39to our guy, right?
13:40No problem at all.
13:42Let's let him
13:42turn around,
13:43just a little screen pass,
13:44and here we go.
13:45But Aaron Rogers,
13:47and his memory
13:48is as amazing
13:49as anything
13:50I've ever seen
13:50in my life.
13:51You know what's
13:52asked me,
13:52you want to try
13:52and match with me?
13:53I was like,
13:54no.
13:54No, thank you.
13:55No, no chance
13:55whatsoever.
13:56But defenses
13:57have the same issue.
13:59You know,
13:59so when he's out there
14:00and this is a
14:01no huddle situation,
14:03it really gives him
14:04the advantage
14:05to try to go
14:06faster and faster
14:07and faster.
14:08And Melissa Adam
14:08feeling a part of that.
14:10Yeah, you just
14:10mentioned that
14:11this is his final season.
14:13The last thing
14:13he wanted to do
14:14was leave Minnesota,
14:15he told me,
14:15being from there.
14:16But he wanted
14:16the chance to play,
14:18end his career
14:19with a playoff contender,
14:20so asked the Vikings
14:21to waive him.
14:22And when the Steelers
14:23claimed him last month,
14:24the whole family
14:24was able to come
14:25because the kids
14:26were out for Christmas
14:26break and stayed
14:27with him in an Airbnb.
14:28And there's the inside
14:30throw to Austin
14:31who hangs on to it
14:32as he goes to the ground
14:33at the 24-yard line.
14:35Calvin Austin
14:36back from the hamstring
14:37injury.
14:38First down,
14:3852 seconds to go.
14:40I tell you,
14:40Rogers is reading
14:41this great right now.
14:43They're playing
14:43basically a shell coverage
14:45and when he saw
14:46Kyle Hamilton
14:48come out of that area,
14:50he voided,
14:51got it right into Austin.
14:52A last word to Austin.
15:00Here comes the pressure.
15:01He goes to Austin
15:02incomplete.
15:03You saw that last word
15:04with Rogers
15:05at the line
15:05was to Calvin Austin.
15:07And that's why,
15:07as Chris said,
15:08they spent so much time
15:09together.
15:10Tuesday nights
15:10at Rogers' house,
15:11Wednesday and Thursday,
15:12Aaron leads film sessions,
15:14and again on Saturday
15:15to try to all be
15:16on the same page.
15:17Well, the last time
15:18these two teams played,
15:20Rogers killed them
15:21when they tried
15:21to blitz him.
15:22Nine for 12,
15:22119 yards
15:23and a touchdown.
15:24They came with
15:25the blitz there.
15:26Let's see if the Ravens
15:28have the guts
15:28to try it again
15:30because Aaron Rogers
15:31was telling us
15:32he's begging them
15:33to blitz.
15:3829 seconds left.
15:40No blitz.
15:41Game well on the backfield.
15:43And the sideline
15:44is inbounds.
15:45So Pittsburgh
15:46will take their
15:46second timeout
15:47with 22 seconds left.
15:49He's also a yard shy
15:51of the first down.
15:53So it'll be third and one
15:54for Pittsburgh
15:55with 22 to go.
15:57Chris,
15:57the only part
15:58of the Steelers' offense
15:59that looked good
16:00last week against Cleveland
16:01were both two-minute drives.
16:03The end of the first half
16:04and the end of the second half.
16:05It's the great advantage
16:06that you have
16:07with Aaron Rogers.
16:08We've talked about it.
16:09His arm strength,
16:10terrific.
16:11Nothing wrong there.
16:12He can't move
16:13the way that he used to.
16:14He can think
16:15at least as well
16:16as he used to, right?
16:17And maybe at the beginning
16:19of this season
16:20it wouldn't have been true
16:21that the no huddle
16:22would have been
16:23this effective for him.
16:24But now,
16:25because of all those sessions
16:26you talked about, right,
16:27they're at his house
16:28every Tuesday night.
16:29They stay after practice
16:30every Wednesday,
16:31Thursday,
16:32and Friday.
16:32They go over every detail,
16:34every hand signal.
16:35And so what you're seeing now
16:37is a little bit
16:39of the end of that process
16:41and it's working.
16:47And you've got veterans
16:48like Valdez Scantley
16:49who had the history
16:50with Rogers.
16:51A receiver like Scotty Miller
16:52and Adam Thielen
16:53who was in the division
16:54that veteran acknowledged.
16:56It's part of the reason
16:57those guys are here.
16:59And the return of Austin
17:00trying to make up
17:01for the absence
17:02of D.K. Metcalf.
17:03It's third and two
17:04as they marked him
17:05at the 16-yard line.
17:06And still go over
17:07the middle of the field.
17:08You have the timeout.
17:10Rogers is looking
17:11last go
17:12and that wave out
17:12that is Scantling
17:13is inbounds
17:14and forward progress
17:15is a stop.
17:16It's the correct call
17:17so the Steelers
17:18bang their final timeout
17:20with only 15 seconds
17:22and rolled down to 13.
17:24We'll see if any time
17:25is adjusted.
17:26Game clock's operating
17:27at the reason
17:27set the game clock
17:28to 15 seconds.
17:30Thank you,
17:30Sean Smith.
17:31Huge play that time
17:33by Chidabay Awuja
17:34because now he limits
17:35what Rogers can do, right?
17:3715 seconds
17:38you could still
17:40get to the line
17:41of scrimmage
17:42but it's a little dicey.
17:43If you throw it
17:44over the middle?
17:44Exactly.
17:45So now you're
17:46sort of limiting
17:47a throw to the outside
17:48and that hit
17:49was dead on
17:50and it took him
17:51backwards
17:52to where they had
17:53to burn the timeout.
17:54And the plays
17:55down here
17:56is where you go
17:57to DK Metcalf
17:58those back shoulder throws
17:59that they tried
18:00the three to
18:01Valdez Scantling
18:01at the end
18:02of the game
18:02last week
18:02and they fell.
18:03So when he's not there
18:04you go to Pat Friermuth.
18:09He's the tight end.
18:10He's lined up.
18:12Third in from the top.
18:14First and goal
18:15in Pittsburgh
18:15out of timeouts.
18:19Rogers
18:19going
18:20towards Austin
18:22incomplete.
18:22He wants the flag
18:23on T.J. Tampa
18:24who's engaged with him
18:26to be outside
18:28of that five-yard area
18:30where contact is allowed.
18:32No call.
18:3311 seconds left.
18:34Second down.
18:36Yeah.
18:36And I think Aaron Rogers
18:38saw that Pat Friermuth
18:39was getting the attention.
18:41Safety in there.
18:42You had Hamilton
18:43overlooking
18:43and so they're just
18:45making sure
18:46they had inside out
18:47that time on Friermuth.
18:50You get a healthy
18:51five-yard to that contact.
18:53That was down
18:53at the three-yard line.
18:55Live scrimmage
18:55is the 10th.
18:5711 seconds left.
18:58No timeouts.
19:03Beating the play clock.
19:04Three-man rush.
19:05Eight drop.
19:06Rogers just gets it
19:07out of the end zone.
19:09It'll be third down.
19:13Still time.
19:18And, Mike,
19:19the risky play here
19:21is a guy like Kenneth Gainwell
19:23because that little halfback option
19:26in the middle of the field,
19:27you may get tackled
19:28in the field of play,
19:30but, man,
19:30he is really hard
19:31to stop on that play.
19:33We were watching
19:33some of those throws
19:34in practice.
19:35He is pretty dynamic.
19:36But you've got to protect
19:38the three points
19:38in the game like this.
19:39You've got to.
19:39Absolutely.
19:40But I'm just saying,
19:42I haven't seen Aaron Rodgers
19:43do crazier things than that.
19:47Seven seconds left.
19:48Third and goal.
19:50Rodgers.
19:51Goes to the back
19:52of the end zone.
19:52Hamilton's flagged.
19:54The pass interference
19:55with two seconds left.
19:57Bowe will be at the one.
19:59Wow.
20:00How about this?
20:02Next snap coming up.
20:04Pass interference.
20:05Defense number 14.
20:08The final curtain in the end zone.
20:09The ball will be placed
20:10at the one-yard line.
20:11First down.
20:13Yeah?
20:13I mean, to me,
20:14there's no decision.
20:15Got to, right?
20:16You've got to go.
20:17This is the win championships.
20:20This is a divisional championship.
20:22Nice job by Friar Muth.
20:24He becomes the target.
20:25Even though they were
20:26double-teaming him again, Mike,
20:28he still went there.
20:31First pass interference
20:33of the year on Hamilton.
20:34Remember, the Hayward
20:36push-push with his brother
20:37was denied earlier.
20:39Two seconds left.
20:40First and goal.
20:42Steelers going for a tying score
20:43here before the break.
20:45MBS got all three
20:47of those late-game throws
20:48last time he's at the top
20:49of the screen.
20:52319!
20:54319!
20:54319!
20:54319!
20:54319!
20:55319!
20:55319!
20:55319!
20:55319!
20:55319!
20:55319!
20:56319!
20:57319!
20:58319!
20:59319!
21:00Smith in motion.
21:01Hits Gainwell.
21:02Gainwell.
21:02Gainwell.
21:02Gainwell inside.
21:03Not going to get there!
21:05Oh, Louie Gilman says no!
21:09The Steelers are denied.
21:10The Ravens take the lead
21:12and momentum to the locker room.
21:14I don't know what the theory was there
21:21because they were completely outmanned.
21:23You put one guy in motion across the field,
21:27two defenders, one blocker,
21:29it never had a chance.
21:31It just never had a chance.
21:34And Gilman, who came over in the trade
21:36from the Chargers,
21:37comes up with the stop.
21:39The Steelers denied.
21:41They'll get the ball to start the second half.
21:44What could have been 10-10 or 10-6
21:46is now 10-3.
21:48And Melissa has Mike Tomlin.
21:50Go ahead, Melissa.
21:50Tell us about the decision there
21:51to go for it and not take the points.
21:53It's easy.
21:54You know, this is a win-or-go-home circumstance,
21:57and so we're going to play to win.
21:58Defensively, how do you slow down Derrick Henry?
22:01You know, it's not about him as an individual.
22:03It's about getting stops,
22:04and we've gotten sufficient amount of stops.
22:06We need to continue.
22:07Mike, thanks.
22:08Henry has 112 yards.
22:09He's 41 yards shy of the rushing title.
22:11Back to that last play one more time.
22:13Yeah, we go in motion here,
22:15but it leaves two guys on the outside,
22:17and you can only block one.
22:19So at best, you're asking Gainwell
22:22to win that one-on-one battle,
22:24and it just wasn't there.
22:26I mean, ordinarily, you'd think,
22:28all right, Aaron's going to see that motion,
22:31and he doesn't have it.
22:34Denied 10-3.
22:35Baltimore leads at the half.
22:37Pittsburgh gets the ball.
22:38Here's Maria and the Toyota halftime.
22:41All right, appreciate it, Mike,
22:42and coming up on Toyota at the half,
22:44we'll show you the full wildcard weekend schedule,
22:47plus every sack from Miles Garrett's record-setting season,
22:51and the Falcons move on from Raheem Morris.
22:54Tonight's first-half coverage
23:02is presented by Progressive.
23:05We're going all day for Sunday night.
23:09The championship for the AFC North.
23:11It's real simple tonight.
23:12We're in a go-home.
23:14Let the fireworks begin.
23:15Jackson burrows complete.
23:17Devontez Walker.
23:18Herbie has Jackson for the sack.
23:20This game is on.
23:22Wow!
23:23This is a game where every little thing matters.
23:32Progressive.
23:33Insurance for coverage you can count on.
23:37One yard.
23:38The difference between a tie game and a 10-3 game.
23:40Steelers couldn't get the yard at the end.
23:42The Ravens lead by seven.
23:43Our S&F storylines are powered by A.W.S.
23:47Derrick Henry, 112 yards in the first half.
23:49Third game with 100 or more in the first half this season.
23:53The last time that happened, he did it in 2020.
23:56The quarterbacks, low passing numbers for Lamar Jackson.
23:59Seven rushing yards.
24:01One good run erased by a penalty.
24:03For Aaron Rodgers, 15-25 for only 98 yards.
24:06And he's outrushing Lamar Jackson.
24:08Go figure.
24:10Now, as for Rodgers, throwing it downfield.
24:12Ten yards or more.
24:130 for 5.
24:14Steelers have 99 yards.
24:17Essentially, almost all the Rodgers passing yards after the catch.
24:21So, that's how we have arrived at 10-3 in the game for the AFC North here at Akershire Stadium.
24:28Where the Allegheny and the Penangahela meet to form the Ohio.
24:33The three rivers of Pittsburgh.
24:34And off the back injury, Lamar Jackson trying to get a division title for his team.
24:39Steelers get it to start the third quarter.
24:43Tyler Luke to kick it off.
24:44For Baltimore again, no wind.
24:50Big part of the story here tonight.
24:52Jalen Warren with the return.
24:55Warren across the 30- to the 34-yard line.
24:59And here's Melissa a moment to go with John Harbaugh.
25:02John, what was your message to the defense after that goal line stand to end the half?
25:06Well, great job.
25:07Great stop.
25:08Great play by two guys.
25:10A lot of poise.
25:11Hanging in there.
25:12A lot of tough circumstances there.
25:13We've got to do better some of our third down pass rush stuff.
25:17Derek Henry, very effective on the ground.
25:19How do you continue that for the rest of the game?
25:21Well, you know, the holding penalties have killed us.
25:23I mean, both drives have been stopped by holding penalties.
25:25We've got to refrain from that.
25:27Well said.
25:28Thanks, John.
25:28Thanks.
25:29Baltimore's six penalties, 68 yards there.
25:32One of the least penalized teams in the league.
25:33Only five and a half per game on the season.
25:36I wonder if they can get one first down if they jump into the no huddle.
25:45Rodgers begins to drive for the 33.
25:47Warren left.
25:48Good run.
25:49Warren up about nine to the 42-yard line.
25:53It felt like a different game, Chris, when they got into that.
25:56It really did.
25:57But this guy right here running the ball, Jalen Warren, went back and watched all his graded plays.
26:03So I got to see all of the best of the best.
26:06He had some spectacular plays.
26:08Now, I understand that Kenneth Gainwell was the MVP.
26:12But talk about breaking some big runs.
26:14That's exactly what Jalen Warren has done for the Steelers this year.
26:183-19!
26:193-19!
26:19So that stat about Rodgers' longest run in his career equaled without a touchdown in six straight quarters.
26:26Got a first down here to get this drive going as Warren has it.
26:30And, Chris, both of these backs, the one-two punch of Kenneth Gainwell and Jalen Warren, they were backup backs.
26:37Warren, again, we've got some pushing going on here at the back end of that play.
26:41Warren, for three years here with Najee Harris.
26:44And Gainwell when he was sitting behind Saquon Barkley across the state in Philadelphia.
26:48But they both have really fit with Aaron Rodgers and what he would like to do.
26:52He likes to have one of the receivers.
26:53He certainly has that in Gainwell.
26:55And then he has one of the rushers with Warren.
26:58We thought they'd have Caleb Johnson, their third-round pick, as part of that story.
27:02He's inactive tonight.
27:05Great shot of Rodgers' survey.
27:07Pressure coming.
27:08Pressure picked up in the pass.
27:10Incomplete, as it was intended for Thielen.
27:14And there's no doubt that what we're seeing now, and what we're seeing is that the Ravens believe their secondary can play man-to-man against these receivers.
27:28I mean, it's just as simple as that.
27:30Kyle Hamilton that time, a safety corner, whatever you want to call him, was really all over Thielen.
27:36And that's been pretty much the case here tonight.
27:403-19!
27:413-19!
27:43Second and ten out quick, and those teams come to try to get the ball before it gets through to Austin.
27:49And Kyle Hamilton took the worst of that from his teammate, Eloy Gilman, who was his teammate at Notre Dame as well.
27:56And Hamilton needs medical attention, and Rodgers is asking, why was that a flag for early contact?
28:04All I know is that this is potentially a very big moment in this game.
28:16Kyle Hamilton's the heart and soul of this defense, no matter how you want to slice it.
28:20Gilman also with that helmet-to-helmet, he's the one who's walking off with the athletic training staff.
28:28So, those two very important players on the sideline, one, the other being looked at on the field.
28:40Here in Western PA, Kyle Hamilton got up, walked off.
28:43This is really neat.
28:43Aaron Rodgers went over to kind of fist bump him, just check on him.
28:46There's a lot of respect for the fourth-year player.
28:50They're being looked at over on the sideline, and Pat Friermuth is heard from.
28:55So, no safeties out.
28:57They go to Friermuth, and they get the first down at the 41-yard line.
29:00Tried to get a little fancy with that one, didn't they?
29:03They had Trenton Simpson, who tried to run all the way across the formation to go get there.
29:08But Aaron Rodgers saw it too fast.
29:11And we were talking to Pat Friermuth, and the first time he heard the Muth in the stadium,
29:15he's like, why are they blue?
29:15He didn't understand what was going on.
29:18He didn't know the legend of Heath Miller back in the day.
29:20It was the third target and first reception by a tight end tonight.
29:24Green 18.
29:25Again, both those safeties, Gilman and Hamilton, off the field for Baltimore.
29:30Johnny Smith running here and gets just a yard.
29:34Smith has run it eight other times this year.
29:37And Eloi Gilman comes back in for the Ravens, and our Darius Washington checks out.
29:44You know, the one thing we have not hit on yet, or at least I haven't, is that Darnell Washington,
29:49the other tight end, who had become such a blocking weapon, had also emerged as a real
29:55receiving weapon for Aaron Rodgers, and there's Darnell Washington.
30:00He simply was a huge part of this offense.
30:03And to lose him and DK Metcalf at the same time was a big blow.
30:08The forearm last week had surgery on Tuesday, second and eighth.
30:12Rodgers putting it up top, and it's brought in by Thielen at the 11-yard line, 28 to Adam Thielen.
30:25Family loves it.
30:27How about this throw right here?
30:32I want you to see this from Aaron Rodgers' perspective.
30:36There's no room.
30:38That's complete blanket coverage, and he knew he was going to zip it right by his ear hole.
30:44And that's what you get when you get Aaron Rodgers, and you get to feeling a little confidence going.
30:49Maybe that drive right before the half, get him going a little bit, and here we go.
30:54On Marlon Humphrey, the Thielen family has traded all the Minnesota stuff for Pittsburgh stuff.
30:59Another run inside with Warren to the seven-yard.
31:03One of the cool viral videos of this season was Adam Thielen's family starting the year in Carolina
31:08and then traded to Minnesota.
31:10He is from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, went to Minnesota State, Mankato.
31:14And just to go back and maybe end his career, a Vikings team that had a great playoff run last year.
31:19The kids, when they were told they were so excited in the backseat,
31:22and they posted it on social media, didn't work out there.
31:25Melissa told you the story.
31:27They've come here during the break, and now they have all of a sudden become Steelers fans.
31:32Pretty cool to see Dad doing this at age 35.
31:35Second and six.
31:37Ben Skoranek in the game.
31:39He's a good blocker.
31:40He's out.
31:41Pass pattern.
31:42Rodgers swings it.
31:43Warren.
31:45Pass Humphrey.
31:46Five-yard line.
31:47To the three.
31:48Yard and a half away from a first down.
31:52He eluded Marlon Humphrey to turn what could have been nothing into something.
31:56Third and short coming up for the Steelers.
31:58So this is, again, almost a run play here.
32:01You've got the sixth offensive lineman out there.
32:04You swing it out, so you've got a lead blocker coming.
32:06It just happens to be a pass play.
32:08It's a run play, and now you just hope that your bat can make one guy miss.
32:12He does, and they are set up again.
32:16On the injuries before Gilman, concussion evaluation was cleared.
32:20Hamilton is being checked in the medical tent.
32:23And third and one.
32:26Inside run.
32:30He's short, so here we are again.
32:34It's fourth, and it looks to be less than a yard for the first down.
32:40And about a yard and two-thirds for the touchdown.
32:42And Tomlin doesn't blink, and he sends big Cameron Hayward onto the field.
32:47And Pat Friermuth, the more big bodies.
32:50So you're going to go.
32:51This is exactly the same situation they were in before,
32:54but it was a longer one than what this is.
32:59So, and the Steelers have a couple of variations off of it.
33:02We saw one last week that went for 29 yards down the sideline.
33:07Rodgers doesn't participate.
33:09Connor Hayward taking the snap, pushed by his brother and others.
33:14He's got the first down inside the one on fourth down.
33:17He's denied the touchdown, but it's first and goal, Pittsburgh.
33:25And they may keep the same big people out there.
33:28The brotherly shove with brother and others.
33:32I like that a lot.
33:33And there they are on the doorstep of really making this a football game.
33:39Can you imagine?
33:40This is the way the Steelers play.
33:42If they could have it 10-10 right here, it would be big.
33:45And there's Kyle Hamilton, unfortunately, going off.
33:49First and goal.
33:50Hammer it again.
33:52Pushed in.
33:53Flag comes down.
33:54He has broken the plane.
33:56He's in the end zone.
33:57We'll check the flag.
33:59It's ruled a touchdown.
34:00It's ruled a touchdown by the official who threw the flag.
34:04That might be your indication it's against Baltimore.
34:06Let's see.
34:09There's a conversation going on for the moment.
34:12Here's Sean Smith.
34:12Offside.
34:16Defense in the 91.
34:18That pretty much the time is overplayed as a touchdown.
34:22And Connor Hayward runs it in for his second touchdown.
34:26They snap to the line of scrimmage.
34:28And look at this.
34:29The Ravens nowhere close to being on sides for one,
34:33but basically ready for the other.
34:35And so the acceleration, once again, the no-huddle offense.
34:39We've seen it work.
34:40The acceleration on the goal line.
34:42It's so close to movement on the right side of that Pittsburgh line as well.
34:48Play is confirmed as a touchdown.
34:50And now we're at extra points from a tie game.
34:54The brotherly shove and others.
34:56That is some play right there.
34:59Brother and another in this case.
35:03Everything happens in Pennsylvania.
35:0611 years difference between the Hayward brothers.
35:11Boswell the tie.
35:1210-10.
35:15Steelers get the ball.
35:16Take a long time coming down the field.
35:19Six and a half minutes.
35:21And the Hayward brothers.
35:24Quintessential Steelers.
35:26On a quintessential night.
35:28In the AFC North.
35:29It will mark the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding.
35:37It's a year-long celebration.
35:39The NFL proud to kick off this recognition as a partner of the America 250 Commission.
35:44America 250, as you've seen all weekend, etch into the sidelines on the game balls as well.
35:50Happy 250th USA.
35:52Happy 250th USA.
35:5210-10.
35:54We start anew with 8.23 left here in the third.
36:00This game ends up in a tie.
36:02Pittsburgh wins the division.
36:03The return by Ali.
36:07Machine lead of the 33.
36:08Ben Skoranek, the Pro Bowler, with the stop.
36:12And Connor Hayward returns to his...
36:14Cameron Hayward returns to his defense as Connor Hayward was out there in coverage.
36:18We've got Cameron Hayward out there who's having a night on defense, though.
36:23That's right.
36:24He's got a frog stance.
36:25Look at that.
36:26Barely any weight at all on those hands.
36:28Why do you do that?
36:29He plays a two-gap defense.
36:31What the heck is a two-gap defense?
36:33That means he goes into the guy in front of him.
36:35He's responsible for the gap to the inside.
36:37Responsible for the gap to the outside.
36:40And so far, full frog alert.
36:42He has been fantastic.
36:45Been a while since the Ravens have run of play.
36:47James Pierre is waiting for Jarek Henry.
36:50No game.
36:53Think about it.
36:53The Steelers had the drive at the end of the second quarter.
36:58Didn't score.
36:58Halftime.
36:59Turned around that long drive to start the third.
37:02And now the place is alive here in Pittsburgh.
37:05Here they come.
37:07And I...
37:08Coming into this game, I'm not sure the people of Pittsburgh really believe.
37:12They watched that game against Cleveland.
37:14And they saw the way this one started.
37:17But now, full engaged.
37:25It's a game of one.
37:28Jackson hit as he threw.
37:30Incomplete.
37:30And is Hayward, who is everywhere tonight.
37:34Play finally whistled.
37:36Dead.
37:37And haven't seen that official incomplete.
37:41So, in the meantime, we have a Steelers, you see, down on the play.
37:45It is ruled incomplete.
37:49The announcement is made.
37:50We'll check on Ramsey.
37:52So, here is the two-gap we were talking about.
37:54He's going to go right through the linemen, but he's responsible for both gaps on both sides.
37:59To watch him just push his way back into the quarterback.
38:02At that point, he has to stay square because he has either side responsibility.
38:08And there he goes.
38:09Makes the hit just as Lamar was stepping up in the pocket.
38:13This is the reason he has continued to be one of the absolute best at his position.
38:20And at the top of the frame, you saw the crossing routes and the contact.
38:24Jalen Ramsey ended up getting the worst of that.
38:27Walked off by the athletic training staff.
38:31And so, third down coming up, Chris.
38:32And he is sort of the equivalent, if you will, of Kyle Hamilton on the other side
38:38because he plays a little corner, a little safety, a little down in the box.
38:45Third and nine.
38:46Terrible towels twirling everywhere.
39:02Oh, baby, no renegade needed now.
39:32They are just getting their hands up.
39:35Hayward, Highsmith, and T.J. Watt.
39:39And that makes it all worthwhile for T.J. Watt.
39:42Think of all that he has gone through to have a chance to play in this football game.
39:48The surgery, the rehab, and the bounce finally came his way.
39:53And let's give it officially to Hayward on the deflection.
39:56The two sets of hands there.
39:58And Lamar Jackson, only four of eight for the game, throws a pick.
40:01And Watt, in his dramatic return from that collapsed lung surgery,
40:07has given Rodgers the ball at the 26-yard line.
40:11Both backs in.
40:14Aaron will swing it out to Jalen Warren.
40:17Passed Marlon Humphrey.
40:18Cuts back inside.
40:20Big hit off the line by Tavius Robinson.
40:23Game of about nine.
40:24And Jalen Warren's not a big guy.
40:28He's 5'8", but he's built like a tank.
40:31He saw him down, and we were watching him in practice yesterday.
40:34He's freezing outside.
40:35And he had on a pair of shorts.
40:36And he is just, I'm telling you, he looks like a tank.
40:39And he has those kinds of quick moves that makes it very hard to get a clean shot on him.
40:45And so he breaks tackles play after play.
40:48Watch the twister.
40:50Watch the twister.
40:51Set up.
40:53Steelers with the extra offensive lineman in as they do so often.
40:56Give it to Warren with that extra lineman.
41:01Spencer Anderson making the block.
41:03A first down to the 15-yard line.
41:05Here's Melissa.
41:06Mike, an update.
41:06We saw Loha Gilman and Kyle Hamilton collide.
41:10Both were evaluated for a concussion.
41:12Gilman went in the tent first.
41:14So Hamilton had to wait outside on a knee for him to come out.
41:18When Gilman came out, they hugged.
41:20Gilman was cleared.
41:22Hamilton was in there with the concussion specialist,
41:24then carted off with his head down just as the Steelers scored that touchdown to tie the game.
41:30Teenage one year at Notre Dame, reunited here after the trade.
41:33First and 10 of the 15.
41:36Warren.
41:37Nice cutback.
41:39Warren threw another tackle to the 8-yard line.
41:43Chidabelle Wouzier holding on along with Gilman trying to bring him down.
41:48Mike, I can't tell you how much of the Ravens' defense
41:52just went in to the tent and off the field with Kyle Hamilton.
41:57So many of their blitzes, so many of their ability to get down in the box,
42:03have the extra guy help stop the run.
42:05It's no coincidence at all that Warren is starting to get the running game going now.
42:08We're good.
42:09We're good.
42:10We're good.
42:10We're good.
42:11We're good.
42:11We're good.
42:12We're good.
42:12We're good.
42:13We're good.
42:13We're good.
42:14Second and three, right back to him.
42:15Jalen Warren.
42:17Gilman with the hit.
42:18Spins forward for a yard.
42:21The Ravens' defense was so bad at the start of the year.
42:23They had given up the most points in the league.
42:26Then the trade happened, and Gilman going to the back with Malachi Starks' safety
42:30allowed Hamilton to be a magical player at the line of scrimmage,
42:34in the box, in the slot, all over the place.
42:36And it changed Zach Gore's defense, and they were the best in the league
42:39for a good stretch there.
42:40Went from averaging about 35 points a game,
42:43giving up to about 17, 18 in that range, to give you some idea.
42:50Third and two.
42:52I can't, I can't, I can't.
42:53What did he do?
42:53You have 14, 14.
42:55Look at the age.
42:57Remember the half go.
43:02Interesting to take the time out there.
43:04He's so precious here at the end of the game.
43:06But here's what he was doing.
43:08He was waiting on them to watch the play clock,
43:12and so he went to hard count because he was going to try and steal that first down.
43:15It's third down and two yards or whatever.
43:18So defenses will watch the play clock, see that it's about to run out,
43:24and then he goes hard count, and they all come charging.
43:27He's been doing that for years, but on this occasion,
43:31the Ravens had seen it one too many times.
43:33Timeouts feel like gold in this game.
43:37Oh, yeah.
43:37I agree.
43:39But that was their shot.
43:41That's what happened there.
43:48You're right.
43:49The fans were booing the offense earlier.
43:51In the first half, they were frustrated.
43:53But this is the yinjers, as they like to say.
43:56These Pittsburgh fans, they are deeply loyal.
44:01They know their ball, and they know their team's backing it with a chance.
44:05Third and a couple.
44:05Now they're scaling the short motion.
44:18Rodgers, looking, throwing, end zone.
44:21Incomplete for Friar Muth.
44:23Gilman's staying with him.
44:25Trying to throw it high and get it to him.
44:27He could not.
44:28And the Ravens' defense keeps him out of the end zone.
44:31Field goal attempt coming.
44:32This is a throw that Aaron would have pulled off of if he had any other choice.
44:38Without D.K. Metcalf, that's the guy.
44:40Oh, Gilman is right on him,
44:42and is going to cover him perfectly in the back of the end zone.
44:46Can't do it better than that.
44:49So Hamilton in the back of the end zone at the end of the first half,
44:52covering Friar Muth.
44:53That time, it's Gilman.
44:55Short one from Boswell for the lead.
44:57He makes it from 25, so the interception turns into three points.
45:04And the Pittsburgh Steelers, for the first time tonight, are on top.
45:084.28 left in the third quarter.
45:10The Bled is a worthy nickname.
45:18King Henry.
45:19New calendars, four years to start a new year.
45:22Well, the King Henry calendar, September and November, it's fine.
45:24He averages 78 rushing yards in that month.
45:26But it's December and January when the real stuff begins.
45:29Most in NFL history, 104 yards he averages.
45:32December of this year, he averaged 135 yards to lead the league.
45:3649 career touchdowns in December and January.
45:40Only Emmitt Smith has four.
45:42And with his effort tonight, plus James Cook of Buffalo not playing much in the final game.
45:48On his birthday, he has a chance to win the rushing title for the third time in his career.
45:53He's 41 yards away from that.
45:55Problem is, this team hasn't had the ball pretty much for an hour, except for three plays.
46:00Masheena Lee is not going to have good field position.
46:03Hayward down there with the tackle.
46:06Well, Mike, I don't know if you know it or not, but the Olympics are coming up in a month.
46:10And if you watch Derrick Henry run the ball, it looks a little like Michaela Shipron going through the gates.
46:17In and out.
46:19A guy that is all over the place and making plays tonight for the Ravens.
46:24He is, Chris.
46:25The ball came out at the back end of that kickoff play.
46:28And people were going to their sidelines.
46:31And then there was a dig for the ball at the back end of the pile.
46:34The Ravens were on it.
46:35And they still have it.
46:36But the Steelers fans got excited there for a few seconds as they were hoping for yet another turnover.
46:43But it is Baltimore ball of the 23.
46:47He looked down.
46:48Allee having the ball pulled away from him by Carson Bruner.
46:53But the knee is down there.
46:56So he was down by contact.
46:58The officials had that right.
46:59Ravens beginning the 23.
47:01Henry was shivering through the gates there, just straight ahead from two yards to the 25-yard line.
47:08I didn't know why you were punching me.
47:10I was like, shut up, man.
47:14We got a fumble down here.
47:19Now Derrick Henry has to find that momentum again.
47:22He had the big run to start the game.
47:23That's what they need to get back to, right?
47:25I think they need a Lamar Jackson play here.
47:28Or a Zay Flowers play.
47:29Somebody to just create a little space.
47:34Henry left to cut back.
47:37Hayward hanging on.
47:38But a first down for Henry at the 34-yard line.
47:42It really is hard to describe what it's like when Derrick Henry walks in the room, isn't it?
47:47Yes.
47:48I mean, it's the entire doorway.
47:53And I was hoping he was just going to stop when he walked in and just see how close he came.
47:59They're filling the whole thing up.
48:01It's amazing.
48:02And the fact that he can run the way that he runs is phenomenal.
48:06Chance to win that third rushing title here tonight.
48:09He gets a break.
48:11He takes a shot.
48:13The Steelers defense has come alive here in this second and third quarter.
48:17Alex Highsmith has been involved in multiple plays.
48:23Watch the way that Highsmith attacks the block of Jonu Smith here.
48:28He is going to take him and just drive him right back into the ball carrier.
48:33That all happened three yards behind the line of scrimmage.
48:36Textbook stuff.
48:46Henry back in second and 11.
48:49Run the stack of three receivers a lot.
48:51I think Devontae's walker flinched.
48:57It'll be second and 16.
48:58Fall start.
49:00Offensive ready one.
49:02Five-yard humility.
49:04Seven-yard.
49:09Ravens scored a touchdown in their first drive.
49:11Field goal in their third drive.
49:12Since then, they only have two first downs in their last four drives.
49:18And now, conservative Jon Harbaugh has to start making some decisions.
49:28And this is when it always gets dicey against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
49:31They have been blitzing a lot in this game.
49:35Let's see if they're coming after him in this backed-up situation
49:38and trusting their quarterbacks.
49:43Jackson, deep drop.
49:45Deflected again.
49:46The Steelers' front has changed the tenor of this game.
49:54That was Logan Lee, the first-year player out of Iowa.
50:08Third and long coming up.
50:10We'll just let you listen to this place.
50:16Jack's up with time.
50:26Rose completes Mark Andrews.
50:29Watt is there.
50:30Chuck Clark is there.
50:32Well short of the first down.
50:34Yeah.
50:34Sag intoaged David.
50:34All right.
50:35You guys have come on.
50:36From the start.
50:36Yeah.
50:36Okay.
50:37You guys will be fine.
50:39I'll do it right now.
50:39I'll end up going.
50:40Okay.
50:41Yeah.
50:42Alright.
50:42Okay.
50:42Good.
