Pavel Klimt & Piotr Pieczenia's Fatal Crash @ Pražský Rallysprint 2008

The accident occurred in Řeporyje, shortly after the start of the first stage of the Pražský Rallysprint, held at Praha, Czech Republic on Saturday, 06 December 2008. Polish driver Leszek Kuzaj aged 42, lost control of the Peugeot 307 WRC in a left bend. The car hit a pole and skidded into a group of spectators, injuring four persons. One of them, Piotr Pieczenia, 26, also from Poland was run over by Kuzaj's car being killed on the spot. Another 26 year-old Czech man, Pavel Klimt from Řeporyje died at 15h00 on the same day at the Military Hospital in Střešovice, Prague. Two Bulgarian persons, an eight year-old girl named Ija and her mother named Svetlana suffered severe legs injuries, they were taken to the same hospital. Though the car was seriously damaged, Leszek Kuzaj and his Irish co-driver Craig Parry escaped uninjured.

After the accident, the event was immediately stopped. It has not yet clearified whether the crowd was in a prohibited area. Owing to this tragic accident driver Leszek Kuzaj, two times rally Champion of Poland in 2002 and 2004, decided to quit racing.
