14:55Good job by Michael Carter the
14:57second who's still battling for
14:59that starting safety spot for the
15:00Eagles you have to think it's
15:01going to be Marcus Epps who
15:02hasn't played in the preseason
15:04games but Carter just keeps
15:05getting better and better at that
15:07new spot 29 yard field goal at 10
15:10from Evan McPherson now the sixth
15:12year on Florida
15:15he remains perfect in the
15:16preseason he's now six for six
15:20so Josh Johnson and Dante Myers
15:22get the Bengals down the field
15:24and they take a three nothing
15:26lead we're back at Lincoln
15:28Financial Field the preseason
15:30finale as the Bengals jump out to
15:32a three nothing lead on
15:33in Philadelphia angles for what it's
15:39worth trying to complete a perfect
15:41preseason for the first time since
15:432006 what is that worth probably
15:49not much not much maybe a little
15:52bit of confidence let's look at the
15:55opening drives for both teams
15:57certainly Myers the big story as he
16:00has three catches for 51 yards
16:03I mean two years ago he wasn't
16:05really even getting that much
16:06playing time in the CFL and now
16:08there's a real chance that he gets
16:11legit playing time for the Bengals
16:13this year Taj Washington takes a
16:16knee drive number two for the Eagles
16:18let's look at what Makai Lemon has
16:20done so far tonight Ross well not
16:22surprising that the first round pick
16:24got the start and they wanted to
16:26give him the ball quickly you see
16:27him get out of his route quickly
16:29they're not a great throw for
16:30McKee didn't give him a chance at
16:31that run after catch and then this
16:33is rookie against rookie and that
16:36is outstanding coverage from to
16:38Corio Davis so the focus remains on
16:43Lemon but we also want to see this
16:45backup quarterback battle Ross and a
16:48big drive here for Tanner McKee
16:49will probably see Andy Dalton in the
16:52second half there's lemon to the
16:55right key on first half gets it out
16:58quickly and it's dropped Jay Jenkins
17:01was open but could not secure it
17:10was interesting talking with Tanner
17:11McKee this week about the Eagles
17:13bringing in Andy Dalton he said that
17:16Howie Roseman the GM told him after the
17:18season hey we're going to bring in
17:19another guy a fourth guy at least and
17:21then when they made the trade he
17:23called him I asked Tanner if he felt
17:25like maybe it was a reflection of how
17:27he had played in week 18 against the
17:29commanders and he said no I think it's
17:31human nature to kind of have those
17:32thoughts but that doesn't really
17:34matter I just knew I had to be ready
17:35to roll and then Sirianni told us hey
17:37we need three quarterbacks look around
17:39the league you need three these days
17:41McKee in trouble sidesteps the
17:43pressure gets rid of it to Lemon and
17:45he's buried by Swayze Bozeman and
17:48that'll bring up third down a loss of
17:50one on the play and again Antoine
17:52Powell Ryland applying some pressure
17:55in the backfield that is one of the
17:59signature plays for the Eagles this
18:01year you would expect which is a
18:02bootleg give Powell Ryland a lot of
18:05credit he's done his prep work for this
18:10week and was ready to roll he was
18:11right in McKee's face as soon as he
18:13got his head around third and long
18:15for McKee taking a deep shot down the
18:18sideline that's broken up and that's
18:20a good play by Josh Newton the third
18:23year corner at a TCU another
18:30outstanding play look at the top of
18:32your screen Josh Newton
18:35stride for stride with Danny gray
18:37not a great throw from McKee that
18:40would have been just a little bit
18:41behind gray gray did have a step on
18:43him so if McKee put a little bit more
18:45on it or got a little more air under
18:47it gray would have had a much better
18:49chance tough start from the key two
18:51for six for two yards did have the EJ
18:54Jenkins drop good kick here by man
18:57flag is down on the play it's Jones on
18:59the return Jones trying to get to the
19:01outside cut down that's a good play by
19:06Kapano the second holding Jones to just
19:11an eight yard return could have been a
19:13bigger play as we await the penalty
19:29will be enforced half the distance to the goal from the end of the kick
19:33first down Cincinnati timeout timeout here in the first quarter Bengals on top 3-0
19:45back in Philadelphia 3-0 Bengals well yesterday Jalen Hurts spent the afternoon
19:51with children from make-a-wish whose wish was to meet the Eagles Pro Bowl QB
19:56the experience included a tour of Lincoln Financial Field where the make-a-wish kids received custom jerseys
20:03and locker room nameplates in an afternoon of mini golf and right now Hurts is with our AJ Ross
20:09that's right Andrew three-time Pro Bowler Super Bowl 59 MVP and new author
20:13have you always had a way with words you have these Jalenisms
20:17I had a purpose before everybody had an opinion
20:19I you know keep the main thing the main thing
20:22do you have them in a notebook are they off the dome
20:24how do you do this?
20:26it starts with my upbringing and just being around the game
20:29all the wisdom that I collected being a coach's kid
20:32hearing my dad coach
20:34hearing the wisdom that he shed on his players
20:36so it started at a young age and I've been able to use it to get through
20:40some of my some of my experiences and some of my adversities
20:44so it's been good it's just something that I can share on my teammates
20:46share on my teammates over here
20:49well speaking of sharing this is the new chapter for the Eagles offense
20:54that you all are sharing collectively with the OC Sean Mannion
20:58what's that collaborative process been like?
21:00what's your prior experience with six offensive coordinators?
21:03how's that helped in this collaborative process?
21:06you know every year is its own year and I've treated it that way
21:09especially as I've gotten older you know because you embrace it
21:12you have to embrace the change
21:14I think working with Sean has been really good
21:17I'm excited to see how things go in the season
21:20as we put things together we get live bullets
21:22and we really get to be able to build in
21:24but I've been truly in response mode
21:26just taking in everything that I can
21:28and more focused on the process than ever
21:31I think that's some of the beauty of the NFL
21:33it changes year to year
21:34but someone that's been a constant for you is all pro Lane Johnson
21:37his 14th year maybe his last season
21:40what has he meant to you?
21:42we've had our conversations about it
21:43and you know if this is his last dance
21:45I want it to be something special
21:47something that he can be proud of when he walks away
21:50he welcomed me in onto this team
21:53and that's something that I got a lot of respect for
21:56and how he handled that being an OU guy
21:59so look he's one of the best to ever do it
22:02let's talk about the rookie though
22:04Makai Lemon
22:05you spent time in Orlando with him during the off season
22:08he's making his NFL debut tonight
22:10what was that experience like with him?
22:12what growth have you seen with him?
22:14I think it all starts in the off season
22:17and the time that you're able to build in there
22:19we were out in Houston getting a lot of quality work in
22:22I know he's been banged up
22:23but he's got a lot of heart
22:25he's got great hunger
22:27you know he wants to be great at what he does
22:29and he's pretty mild mannered when he goes about his business too
22:32so I'm a big fan of his
22:35and just decided to be a part of his growth
22:37and coming into the league
22:38two mild mannered guys
22:40but your defense is anything
22:41but you go up against them every day in practice
22:45what excites you most about that unit this year?
22:47very competitive unit
22:48that's a unit that has a lot of continuity
22:51so they've been able to really soak
22:53and let those roots set in to Big Fangio's defense
22:56and I think that's been really good for our team
22:58so putting in a new offense
23:00taking in the new elements that we're doing
23:03competing against them every day
23:06getting each other better
23:07I think it'll be great
23:08great for our team
23:09we're looking forward to it
23:11and thank you for the time
23:11best of luck
23:13AJ thank you so much
23:15and you heard her touch on the new offensive coordinator
23:17and Shawn Mannion and Ross
23:19we haven't really seen the Eagles show off
23:21what that new offense is going to look like in a preseason game
23:24they've been very vanilla
23:25most of the starters have not played
23:27as Johnson is back to pass
23:29he completes this one to Keyshawn Williams
23:31you've been at practice
23:33you've been studying the Eagles
23:34what is this offense going to look like week one?
23:37well I think it's going to look a lot like
23:39what people are used to seeing from
23:41Shawn McVay as well as Kevin O'Connell
23:45those are some of the guys
23:47that Shawn Mannion has learned under
23:49and I think he wants them to be an outside zone team
23:54a team that's going to run play action under center off of it
23:58as well as bootlegs
24:01we have a virtual measurement coming
24:05as they want to make sure this technology is smoothly running
24:11as week one approaches
24:13we were told they want to try to do this once in every game
24:17so if it's close enough
24:20they want to do it
24:21and look they're timing it right now
24:22how much faster is it than the old chain gang
24:26chain gang used to be like 74 seconds
24:29on average Andrew
24:31last year at the start of the year
24:32the virtual measurement was 49 seconds
24:34by the end it was 34
24:35so the NFL always thinking about the fans
24:38and the TV viewer trying to make this
24:42process as quick as possible
24:43that is Princeton math right there
24:46to the second Ross Tucker is on it
24:48and Sirianni watches the seconds tick away
24:51I love that they're timing it
24:54why is it that when you're thinking about how long something takes
24:57it takes so much longer
25:00this does feel long
25:01it's like if you actually look at the clock in life
25:04sometimes it feels like it takes three minutes to turn to the next minute
25:10after virtual review there's all the play is a first down
25:16all right
25:16and now the chain gang will move
25:22does seem though going back to the Eagles offense Ross
25:25and Shawn Mannion wants to get them to the line of scrimmage quickly
25:29break the huddle
25:30get to the line
25:31show that sense of urgency
25:32that's a point of emphasis
25:34and if you've been to practice
25:35they are going to motion guys a lot
25:38including it's been Makai Lemon
25:39a lot
25:40I don't think he wants to show
25:42some of the different motions
25:44that he's cooked up here in the preseason
25:46they haven't done really much of it at all
25:51Johnson play action to the target injuries
25:54he is stood up by Shawn Waite
25:58340 to go in the first quarter
26:03it really does feel Andrew
26:04like this Eagles team
26:06is going to have to be carried by the defense
26:10the first month or so
26:11you know it would be weird to me
26:13with an entirely new offense
26:16if they were firing on all cylinders from week one
26:19it's going to take some time
26:20this is a detail oriented business
26:22and the guys on offense
26:24are really learning the details
26:25of Mannion's offense
26:26so guys like Jalen Carter right there
26:28they're going to have to carry the day
26:30early until this offense starts to fire on all cylinders
26:35at second and seven
26:36Johnson taking a deep shot
26:38he's got a man and a completion
26:41Mitch Tinsley able to hold on along the sideline
26:45Tinsley the star of the preseason a year ago
26:48and that one goes for 34 yards
26:50and what a throw by Josh Johnson
26:54passing his hands
26:55right foot down
26:56left foot down
26:57yeah he got the third foot down
26:58so clearly that's a catch
27:01Sirianni is throwing the challenge flag
27:03see I thought he got the third foot down
27:05throwing on the field
27:06the completed pass
27:07is being challenged by Philadelphia
27:14remember you need possession two feet
27:17and then a football move
27:19has possession right foot left foot
27:22oh you know Wade punched it out right as he was putting that third foot down
27:28Sean Wade's done that in both of the first two preseason games
27:32this is going to take a tougher look
27:37referee Alan Eck just made the announcement
27:39Nick Sirianni has lost his challenge
27:42the call on the field stands
27:45I think it's the right call
27:46because he doesn't get the third foot down
27:48but look right foot left foot
27:49and he covers it up with the left arm
27:51all you need is two feet
27:54and then a football move
27:56so when Tinsley brought the left arm over
27:58to really cover it up
28:00which didn't work by the way
28:01because Wade punched it out
28:02that constitutes a football move
28:04that's a catch
28:05so he didn't quite get the third foot down
28:07before Wade punched it out
28:09but just the act of covering it up
28:11with the left arm
28:13was enough to solidify the catch
28:16a 31 yard game for Mitch Tinsley
28:19third year man out of Penn State
28:25Josh Johnson is dealing right now
28:27he's 8 of 10 for 107 yards
28:36to the ground here for Cincinnati
28:41and that is Kendall Milton on the carry
28:44and a flag is down
28:48you think we use some hands to the face
28:50number 46 defense
28:51five yard penalty
28:53at the end of the run
28:54automatic first down
28:56that's on Josh Weru
28:57who's been an incredible story here
29:00for the Eagles from Kenya
29:02had not played in a football game
29:05until the preseason opener
29:07a couple of weeks ago
29:08and it's been a roller coaster
29:10for both Weru and Uar Bernard
29:13a couple of the international
29:14pathway program players
29:16from Africa
29:17you said it
29:18this is the third football game
29:19of their lives
29:21Weru actually had a sack
29:22last week
29:23Uar Bernard had two tackles
29:25that's the first penalty
29:26either one of them have gotten
29:27I'm pretty sure he knows
29:28you can't get the hands up
29:30in the head gear
29:32but it's still hard to keep it down
29:34sometimes
29:41a good catch
29:42but Karen Brandy could not hold on
29:45as we check in with AJ
29:46well Andrew I had the chance to speak
29:48with Josh Weru and Uar Bernard
29:50and they both said they hope that their stories inspire others to pursue their dreams
29:54with Weru in particular he said it's never too late
29:57he in fact started college a little late
29:59but he's right where he's supposed to be
30:01and he hopes inspires kids especially across the world
30:05it's just amazing
30:06I mean defensive coordinator Vic Fangio calls them our exchange students
30:10but there's been a lot of talk in the media here in Philadelphia
30:13that GM Howie Roseman can't afford to expose these two guys to waivers
30:18that they've shown so much promise
30:20they gotta keep them or someone else might pick them up
30:23it's gonna be really interesting to see what happens with both of these players over the weekend
30:28this is a little more information on the international pathway program
30:32now Bernard was actually drafted in the seventh round this year
30:36but it helps foreign-born athletes reach the NFL
30:39Bernard from Nigeria
30:41Weru is from Kenya
30:42it's been a great program and some notable players have made it all the way to the NFL
30:47and we'll see what Howie Roseman has to do over the weekend with these two players
30:52they both flashed enough that there is some talk that maybe if they try to put them on the practice
30:57squad
30:58they get claimed but I'd also say watching them
31:00they both also still have a long way to go
31:04Johnson again looking deep down the field and it's incomplete
31:09Andre Sam nearly had the interception
31:12it brings up fourth down
31:14two outstanding plays
31:17by Andre Sam
31:19they'll be very frustrated with himself that he wasn't able to get the pick
31:24but he had outstanding coverage on the tight end down the seam a couple plays ago as well
31:29he's a guy that's toggled back and forth between the practice squad and the roster the last couple years here
31:34in Philadelphia
31:35so Evan McPherson comes out for a 58 yard field goal attempt
31:39he has hit from 58 already this preseason
31:44his career long is 63
31:48and this one on line does it have the distance
31:51it does
31:53Money Mack fires in another
31:56and the Bengals
31:58have taken a six nothing lead
32:00second field goal of the night
32:02for Evan McPherson
32:04and the Bengals
32:06fight on the sideline
32:07not a real fight
32:12that was not a thing when I played
32:14but now guys love the shadow boxing
32:18it's fun until the one guy accidentally hits the other one by accident and then it's not fun anymore
32:22yeah
32:23I agree with that
32:26McPherson two for two
32:27set to kick it away for the Bengals
32:31Burrow and the Bengals open up week one at home
32:35against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
32:45as you comma and Taj Washington just signed 48 hours ago back deep for the Eagles
33:01this will be as you comma on the return across the 20
33:04and he stood up at the 25 by Braylon Lux
33:08a return of 20
33:10so the Eagles offense returns to the field
33:13how about Jalen Hurts
33:15a different play caller in every season of his NFL and even going back to his college career
33:23well it's funny because when they go to the Super Bowl
33:26that coordinator gets a head coaching job somewhere else
33:30when they don't go to the Super Bowl
33:32they make a change
33:33at offensive coordinators
33:35so it's they've been alternating
33:36every other year going back
33:39to 2022
33:40I think Eagles fans are certainly hoping that
33:43that trend continues with Shawn Mannion this year
33:47Amy Pierce on the carry and finally something positive for this Philadelphia offense
33:52before that play they had a total of one yard in the first quarter
33:57that one goes for 16
33:59these are the things that he did his rookie year
34:02with the Houston Texans
34:04he's always had good vision
34:06between the tackles of the terrific job breaking tackles
34:10I'm still not quite sure
34:12what happened to him in Houston after that rookie year
34:15because they were a bad team in 22 and Pierce was really the only positive they had
34:21and then over the next three years after that
34:24it seemed like his playing time continued to diminish
34:27he rushed for 939 yards in that rookie season with the Texans
34:31and this one he's not able to hold on to
34:35low throw from McKee who's now 2 for 7
34:38and that's the second time where McKee
34:41has left one of those short passes
34:44a little bit too low
34:48Saquon Barkley watching from the sideline
34:51on his third season with Philadelphia
35:02second down and 10 for McKee
35:09in the first quarter
35:13and Pierce is a great example as we end the first quarter of
35:17it might not work for him here in Philly
35:19but he's trying to show the other 31 teams that he still has what it takes to be an NFL
35:25running back
35:25and there's no doubt they're all watching
35:27with roster cut down day coming on Sunday
35:31one quarter in the books here in Philadelphia
35:33and the Bengals have a 6-0 lead in the preseason finale on CBS
35:42start of the second quarter here in Philadelphia the Bengals have a 6-0 lead with
35:47Ross Tucker, AJ Ross, our entire crew
35:49I'm Andrew Catalan
35:51as we kick off another year of the NFL on CBS
35:55and a backup QB job on the line tonight here in Philadelphia
35:59between Tanner McKee and Andy Dalton the former Bengal
36:03McKee 2 for 7 in that first quarter
36:06but this drive at least they've gone in a good direction
36:09after one yard on their first two drives
36:12they have 24 as they start this second quarter
36:15third and two and a half
36:17very likely four down territory
36:19so I wouldn't be surprised if it's a run
36:21it is a run with Pierce and he's got a lot of room to run
36:24and a first down for Philadelphia as Pierce's helmet comes off at the end
36:28PJ Jewels on the tackle after a gain of 12
36:32so the Bengals lost contain there on the edge
36:35watch the left side of your screen right side of your screen I'm sorry
36:38you'll see Ajuku 67 that they're wrong okay
36:42Swayze Bozeman went to the B-gap and the edge rusher
36:47Antoine Powell-Ryland both went to the B-gap
36:50we talk all the time about gap responsibility on defense
36:54I can assure you they weren't supposed to have two Bengals defenders in the B-gap
36:59opened a huge hole for the Eagles
37:01Pierce on the sideline Carson Steele in that running back
37:05and he hits the handoff here
37:07Steele with a touchdown a week ago in the preseason game at Foxborough
37:13against the Patriots a 24-21 Eagles loss
37:17McKinley Jackson on the stop
37:25Steele was fun to watch last week
37:27the Eagles had an injury
37:30to Jaquindon Jackson on the opening kickoff
37:32so they pretty much just went with Steele most of the game after Will Shipley came out
37:36and he's another guy that made the most of it all these guys are very well aware
37:41that they are auditioning for every team in the NFL right now
37:47the key to Steele
37:50still going and that extra effort is going to make him close to a first down
37:56he's going to be about a yard shy
37:58but you look back at the preseason game against the Patriots
38:02he had 12 carries for 33 yards but 6 catches 84 yards and a couple of impressive hurdles along the
38:10way
38:10here's one right there
38:13boom
38:16when you look at him at 6 foot 230 and you think he's going to try to run you over
38:20so as a defender you get low and then he jumps over you
38:24and Steele has the first down
38:26now Carson Steele has a pet alligator named Crocky J
38:33he got it for Christmas in the second grade and still has it
38:36it's now 5 feet 100 pounds and lives in an aquarium in his home
38:41you would think at some point over time Crocky J would not have lasted this long
38:47but he's still swimming along and now has his own aquarium
38:51how big is the aquarium?
38:53gotta be pretty big
38:54is my question
38:55how long can you have a pet alligator?
38:58I guess a long time second grade
39:00yes Crocky J defying time
39:05back to his owner Steele and this time he's dropped
39:08a lot as Takario Davis makes the tackle
39:12very impressed
39:13by this third round pick for the Bengals so far Takario Davis
39:18we had a chance to talk
39:19with Al Golden today the defensive coordinator
39:22for the Bengals who's in year two and they really wanted him to play
39:26because they think there's a chance that in certain packages
39:29he'll get playing time here
39:31in the regular season
39:33but he needs these snaps
39:34he's actually physically looks a lot like Rick Woolen
39:37for the Eagles on the other side
39:40he's passed
39:41right over the middle and that's Elijah Moore
39:44another veteran receiver trying to make this Philadelphia roster
39:47last year nine games with the Bills
39:50he was cut and then joined Denver for the AFC Championship game
39:54hoping that he's able to stick here with the Eagles
39:57he's had a really good camp
39:59you'll see him try to turn up and get some yards out of the couch
40:03he's had a really good camp hasn't played much in the preseason games
40:06this is a guy that back-to-back years had over a hundred targets
40:09with the Browns
40:10you'll get a hundred targets unless they really think you can play
40:14ready
40:16third batting seven
40:18he
40:19picked off
40:21it's Takario Davis with the interception
40:25ball went off the hands of Makai Lemon and right to the rookie Davis for a 12-yard return
40:34well that ball from Tanner McKee was right on the money
40:37it's an in-breaking route from Lemon who had outstanding hands at USC goes right off his hand and unbelievable
40:45reaction by Davis right there
40:47watch him stab it with the left hand and then make the play
40:51wow
40:52I'm impressed by that rookie corner

41:16and today they honored the 2026 Eagles girls flag Pennsylvania and New Jersey state champions
41:23from Gwinnett Mercy Academy High School in Pennsylvania and Williamstown High School in New Jersey
41:30well done
41:33so after the turnover the Cincinnati offense goes back to work Josh Johnson's 9 of 13
41:39for 102 yards
41:41run it on first down
41:44and it's Gary Brightwell on the carry for the Bengals and
41:47let's go back to that interception Ross off the hands of Lemon
41:51yeah he's the second receiver in great morale
41:54and he dropped the ball before he even got hit by the defender
41:59I mean maybe the ball was a little bit behind him
42:02but when you watched Makai Lemon play at USC
42:05so many contested catches such good hands
42:08and I saw him on the field right after the play point to his chest look at Tanner McKee and
42:13say hey
42:14that one was on me
42:16Davis made lemonade out of Lennon
42:19on second and six
42:21Johnson moving the pocket and he's got a completion to Noah Thomas into Philadelphia territory
42:27the undrafted rookie out of Georgia
42:32you know I don't know if the Bengals are going to keep three quarterbacks or Josh Johnson
42:37but he's going to be somewhere he's just playing too well
42:41and the way he played week 18 for the Commanders last year in a regular season victory here in Philadelphia
42:48the way he played last week against Chicago
42:51I thought it was funny
42:53Zach Taylor said hey there's a lot of second and third stringers out there
42:56but Josh Johnson has like a dad calming influence on that group to get him to play well
43:0219-yard gain Johnson back to the air
43:04another rifle inside the 30
43:07he is showing off that arm right back to Thomas for 14 more
43:16Thomas is another guy at the top of your screen
43:20that's done some good things
43:21not much of a play action fake there but look at that pocket
43:24for Josh Johnson he had all kinds of time
43:27there's a lot of quarterbacks in this league
43:29that can really throw darts like that
43:32with a pocket as beautiful as that one
43:36right now on the carry here
43:38he gets close to the 20-yard line
43:41look at Noah Thomas
43:42using that height
43:446'5", 203
43:46from Georgia
43:48see you Sunday on Paramount Plus
43:51you're streaming home for every NFL on CBS game
43:55all season long
44:04Philadelphia will be home
44:06week one against the Washington Commanders
44:13second down and four
44:17right side
44:20is inside the 20
44:23year
44:30looking out there for both teams
44:32you can see some of the guys
44:34Andrew have already come off
44:37you know I don't think Dante Myers has been back in again
44:39after that first drive
44:41I think I think Zach Taylor said get him out now
44:45we have seen enough from number 81
44:48I think he's signing a apartment contract
44:50back in Cincinnati
44:52he's made the team
44:53and now he needs to find a place to stay
44:57third down and two
44:58Kendall Milton the running back
45:00it is Milton up the middle
45:02and he's got a knock for a first down
45:07three-yard pickup on third down and two
45:10for Kendall Milton who
45:12was an undrafted free agent with the Eagles
45:15two years ago
45:16went to training camp with Philly in 2024
45:18was cut after training
45:20and has been with Cincinnati ever since
45:23spending most of the last two seasons on the practice squad
45:25well and for a lot of these guys
45:27that is what they're trying to do
45:29I mean I think they have a pretty good idea that they're not going to be on a roster
45:33but practice squad still pays well over $200,000
45:36then you keep your career going
45:42Johnson play action
45:44chase from behind
45:45and they got him
45:47that is Keyshawn James Newby
45:50the rookie
