Patrick Meyer's Fatal Crash @ Rallye de la Luronne 2005 (Aftermath)

Patrick Meyer was a 55 year-old doctor of Bischoffsheim, near Strasbourg, France, who had been a rally driver in the 70s and after he abandoned racing for several years he came back in 2000, rallying with his son Geoffroy Meyer as co-driver.

At about 10h20 on 18 June 2005 near the small town of Sainte Marie en Chanois shortly after the start of the fifth special stage of the 30th rallye de la Luronne, the car driven by Patrick Meyer-Geoffroy Meyer went off the road and overturned at the end of a short straight, crashing into a tree on driver's side. The violence of the impact was such that the white Peugeot 106 16S was crumpled around the tree. Patrick Meyer was killed on the spot, Geoffroy Meyer, 25 year-old was taken to Luxeuil hospital with slight injuries. Patrick Meyer was survived by his wife Martine.
