00:00I do think Christian McCaffrey plays a role in this game, but I think it's going to be in the
00:05passing game, Craig. I like his reception prop. I think it's four and a half. And we know the
00:12kind of security blanket that he can be. And at this stage in his career, I think he's more
00:18dangerous in the passing game than he is trying to be a running back. It was a down year last
00:23year,
00:24but they did have some issues on that offensive line. But he's not getting any
00:29younger here, right? Running between the tackles is, you know, for a guy that you want to keep
00:35healthy, I think the passing game is going to be good. And I think he had five or more receptions,
00:41Craig, in 15 of the 19 games he played in last season. So I think that's the key for them.
00:48Short running game. Well, instead of running, how about the short passing game and Christian
00:52McCaffrey racking up the receptions here tonight? Yeah. So I saw a stat that in the last
00:59five seasons that Christian McCaffrey has played, he's gotten the most touches of any running back
01:05in the NFL week one in the last five years, if you combine all those touches, including Barkley and
01:11everybody else. So to your point, yes, I think that's going to happen again tonight. And yes,
01:16I do have McCaffrey on my fantasy team. But I do think early part of the season is not where
01:21you
01:21worry about McCaffrey. It's sort of the later part. And there are a lot of folks out there who seem
01:26to think that this is it for McCaffrey, that he's not that this like he was he was pretty much
01:30healthy for the entire season last year. But they think that this is it. And the touches have caught
01:34up to him. And, you know, maybe it wouldn't happen. It looks the Shanahan without a doubt is one of
01:41the
01:41top five coaches in the NFL. That goes without saying, Joe, they did not add anybody behind
01:46Christian McCaffrey of any value. If they thought for a second that McCaffrey wasn't going to make it
01:51through, then why didn't they get like Jordan Mason, who they had previously? Mason, of course,
01:57played behind McCaffrey, had that great season. Then they shipped him out to Minnesota.
02:00There, you know, there really are no running backs behind him. So and it's not like they took a
02:05second round pick running back either. My guess is, is you're right. I think McCaffrey has a big week
02:11one. I think he has a big season again. I think he probably goes over 1000 and rushing and probably
02:17800,
02:17900 receiving again. They simply put, this is how the 49ers go. It is through him and not having
02:24those other receivers. You mentioned Bourne. Let's not forget how good Juwan Jennings was to
02:29San Francisco. This guy had some monster games to you're counting on Mike Evans, Samuel, who we don't
02:35even know what he's going to be anymore. Stripling. Yes, I am. I'm with you. Yeah. I mean, I keep
02:41forgetting they even have Kirk. I can't see him being a fan, but I'll throw his name out there for
02:46you.
02:46So yeah, I I'm with you there on that one. I'll pair up with you on, on any of the
02:50McCaffrey overs
02:51today. Yeah. I, I think, uh, why not? I mean, go to all reliable there. The reason he's getting
02:57those touches is because they can absolutely rely on them. But when you look at the other side there
03:03with the Rams, uh, you know, you mentioned their running back room is actually, it's a pretty good
03:09one, two punch. Definitely. Also got some pretty good tight ends. Uh, and if I'm thinking Matt Stafford
03:16first game, am I thinking it's, is he going over? I don't know what is passing. Maybe you guys have
03:23his passing yards there, but is it more ground and poundier than it's going to be through the air
03:29for Matt Stafford? Are you letting him throw it 40 times this game? Or what are you thinking?
03:35So my feeling on him is the opposite of McCaffrey. My feeling on him is that sometimes you, you get
03:42signals. You don't get words, but you get signals in the NFL. Why did they draft Ty Simpson? Why,
03:50why, why did they make that move? Joe? I think Matthew Stafford, whenever he retires is five years
03:58away from being a unanimous first ballot hall of famer. There is not a world that I'm going to live
04:03in this year that believes that Matthew Stafford is playing every game this season. I think it is
04:07impossible. I think it is impossible. I was shot. I mean, the guy with his back, I, I didn't even
04:14know
04:14if he was going to play last season at all. Uh, so I, I'm, I think that they work him
04:19in slow. I would
04:20not pound overs early in the season on Stafford. I think that he is the quintessential end game
04:28quarterback. Let's make sure that he is healthy at the end of the season and not worry about the
04:32beginning of the season. Uh, Rams, I would assume are going to be in the post season. I mean, I
04:38don't
04:38know how far they'll go, but I would assume they'll be there. So no would be the answer for me.
04:42I think
04:43those two guys, Corum and maybe even Kyra Williams, both get a lot of volume today. I think the first
04:48half, they get a lot of volume throughout the year. Uh, you, you lose, uh, Stafford. Uh, do they feel
04:55Simpson is capable enough to be the backup? There was a lot of discourse when that happened. Like did
04:59McVay know? And what's, what was the plan? Uh, the, I think the organization told you the story
05:04here. And I think the story that was, we feel we got lucky with Stafford playing every game last year.
05:10We feel we got, he's missed games every year, Joe. He didn't miss any last year. Uh, you like,
05:14if you gave me a, uh, an odds on Fandula draft Kings, 15 and a half games for Stafford this
05:19year
05:19in a 17 game season, I'd go under.
