00:00Field was touchdown that he didn't catch it, but let's see what Alan Eck has to say.
00:04After review, we're going on the field with touchdown stands.
00:07Wow.
00:07What?
00:13Wait a second.
00:14Where's Dean?
00:15Where's Dean?
00:16Bring him in here.
00:16Now we agree, he caught the ball.
00:18So they ruled the touchdown stands, Dean?
00:22I'm speechless.
00:23Well, look, he's, he, he has control, he's touched, the knee is down.
00:28And unless they're saying he lost control and regained it in the end zone, but you can't see the ball.
00:35Well, it's a touchdown.
00:38Colby Parkinson will take it.
00:40This is a heck of a throwing catch.
00:42And the Rams take the lead.
00:43You can look at this to the cows come home.
00:46It's a touchdown.
00:48L.A. back in front.
00:49Who knows?
00:51I think everyone's trying to figure out what just happened, even in Rams coaching box.
00:55Like, yay, wait, what?
00:57Huh?
00:57And then there's something else, the chicken dance going on in the corner.
01:00I'm not sure what's going on there.
01:02We'll try to explain it with Dean Blandino.
01:04It's a Colby Parkinson touchdown, we can tell you that.
01:0726 yards out on a beautiful throw and catch.
01:10And puts the Rams back in front in this seesaw offensive battle.
01:15Both bouncing around.
01:16And Kennedy picks it up.
01:17And I don't know how he almost broke through that.
01:20Down to the 22.
01:20All right, Dean Blandino, you're up.
01:22All right, I'm going to do my best to try to explain this.
01:25What they ruled is that Parkinson lost control, regained possession in the end zone.
01:33He had already broken the plane.
01:34To me, that's a stretch.
01:37Look, it was ruled a catch.
01:38He's clearly down.
01:39That should be down at the 1.
01:40I can't see how we're keeping that a touchdown.
01:43All right.
01:47Thanks, Dean.
01:47We appreciate that.
01:48That's what the ruling was.
01:49And that's where it is right now.
01:51So, it's the Rams jumping in front.
01:5327-24.
01:54Now it's Derek Goddard.
01:56Gets down.
01:56Goes deep.
01:57Jameson Williams.
01:58Oh, he had his hands on it and could not survive the ground.
02:02Man, that was a strike from Goff as he got hammered.
02:06But they could not finish it.
02:07Wow, what a great throw.
02:09On the post route, cover four.
02:13To his speedy receiver.
02:15Gets a little bit tripped up by Kobe Durant.
02:17Which, it looked like that threw the hands off of Jameson Williams.
02:22Got a little bit tied up.
02:25Goff taking a huge hit from Kobe Turner.
02:29What a throw.
02:39Pressure again.
02:40Goff in deep trouble.
02:41Down he goes.
02:43Kobe Turner gets home that time.
02:51Finally getting to the spot where Goff is.
02:54Kobe Turner one-on-one with Colon.
02:56The left guard gets on the edge.
03:01Big-time sack when they needed it.
03:03Kobe Turner's stud-D lineman.
03:08This dominant defensive line is really now starting to gain a little more confidence as this game goes.
03:14Third and long.
03:15Third and long.
03:17Third and long.
03:22Back they just had a set of a screen.
03:24There's no one there.
03:25It's incomplete.
03:26What a stand by the Rams.
03:28Yeah, they got aggressive on their play calls.
03:32Pass, pass, pass.
03:34A little different than what Coach Campbell talked about.
03:37We want to bully them.
03:38We want to kind of lean on them a little bit.
03:40They got behind for the first time in a while.
03:42Down three points.
03:43And tries to be a little aggressive in those play calls.
03:48And Rams are up for the challenge.
03:49Yeah, they almost hit on that amazing play to Williams.
03:52But Kobe Turner of pressure and then the big sack the first of the day for LA.
03:57And that's Fox to punt it away.
04:00High, booming kick in.
04:01Xavier Smith way in trouble with that one.
04:03But he gets out into Corral at midfield.
04:06And we'll be right back after this message from Best Buy.
04:09Rams defense getting home.
04:12Kobe Turner doing his job.
04:13And after that punt, look where they have it at midfield.
04:16Stafford is heating up.
04:17He's at 297 yards on the game.
04:19Looking for more.
04:20Zips one to Nakua.
04:21Inside.
04:22Puga Nakua fighting all covers.
04:25Still going down to the 11.
04:33When you play cover two, you're trying to stop these explosive pass plays.
04:39This little bit of motion allows a clean release for Nakua.
04:44Stafford knows right away where Nakua is going.
04:46And it's way too big of a void in that zone.
04:49Between the middle linebacker, the weak side linebacker.
04:53Too easy for Stafford to exploit that.
04:56Puga Nakua had 168 yards.
04:58He had 167 last week.
05:01Came into the game.
05:03First in the league in reception.
05:04Second in yards.
05:05And he's going off.
05:05They're going to run it here.
05:06Corum to the outside.
05:08It's a touchdown.
05:23That's just awesome complimentary football.
05:26Defense makes a big stand.
05:28You get a decent punt return.
05:29And then Stafford and company.
05:32The throw to Nakua.
05:34Corum bouncing to the outside with a good block from his tight end Parkinson.
05:38And walks it in.
05:40Good defensive stop.
05:42Good play on special teams.
05:44Good offensive football.
05:45That's what you got to do when you're the home team.
05:47Boy, oh boy.
05:48These Rams have come alive in this second half.
05:51Adding on making 34-24 now.
05:54And we'll be right back after these messages.
05:58Puga Nakua.
05:59What a game.
06:00Eight for 168.
06:01Oh my God.
06:02I mean, second round of all time with 100 more catches in two seasons.
06:06He missed a game and a half.
06:08He missed a game and a half.
06:10And he's over 100 catches.
06:11Yeah, and look at the enthusiasm that he plays with 2KB.
06:14It's one of my Ryan Wendell, the offensive line coach, I saw him before the game.
06:18And he said, one thing I love about Puga, he's very Gronk-like.
06:21Every day is a good day.
06:23Always optimistic.
06:24Has this, such a fun play style about him.
06:27And you see it constantly with that connection between Matthew Stafford and the crew.
06:32It's incredible what they're doing.
06:35You know, it's interesting.
06:35You know, the Lions were firing on all cylinders.
06:38Remember, they had that touchdown with 30 seconds left with Jameson Williams at the half.
06:41Well, since then, the Rams have gone up 20 to nothing unanswered.
06:45They've come to life.
06:46They've come to life.
06:46It'd be really interesting to see if Coach Campbell sticks with this run game,
06:50which I think they need to do because they just don't have enough weapons in the pass game.
06:54Yeah, they have St. Brown.
06:55Yeah, they have Jameson Williams.
06:56But they don't have anybody else.
06:57So they're going to have to run it.
06:58I know it doesn't feel like that.
07:00Down 10 points here as you end the end of the third quarter.
07:03It's kind of rolling through.
07:04But you can't quite give up on it yet.
07:10This third quarter, Jared Goff's just one for three for four yards after an amazing first time.
07:16And two-year point time.
07:17They try to get the run, but they've been unable to get Jameer Gibbs going.
07:21The Rams have done a nice job on that run game.
07:22It's almost like they've conceded the big pass yards to stop Gibbs.
07:26Yeah, and I wonder if they should try some more of those outside runs,
07:29try to get to the perimeter a little bit, some jet sweep motions, some toss plays.
07:34But the middle of the defense, the Rams look like they're up for the challenge,
07:38defeating blocks.
07:39I wonder if they should try to get the ball outside near the tight ends,
07:42get the ball to the perimeter, and see if they can use his speed to widen the defense
07:46and make some cuts to get upfield and gain some extra yards.
07:50Puka Nuku, it's his night so far.
07:52Into the third, Rams by 10.
07:55We start the fourth quarter with the Rams up on the Lions, 34-24.
07:59And you see that, look at that, the Rams defense coming alive.
08:01The Lions, who went crazy in the first half,
08:04held it just five yards in that third quarter.
08:08And Matthew Stafford and Puka Nukuha got red hot.
08:10Now Detroit, see what they're made of here.
08:13It was a big game for them in terms of trying to make the playoffs,
08:16down 10 into fourth.
08:17Josiah Stewart with a great play, and this defense is heating up, Aaron Andrews.
08:31Yeah, they are.
08:31Remember, going into the half, that was the most yards and points
08:34this defense has given up in the first half all year.
08:37This is Byron Young and Jared Burst.
08:39They sat out here at halftime and just sat and thought.
08:43And then this is them, of course, after Puka Nukuha, their big play.
08:47These guys were getting oxygen on the sidelines because they were so jacked up.
08:51And we just saw that right there on the second down.
08:54Got to go, got to go.
09:06Craig Crockett won.
09:08They don't get it off.
09:10Or did they call a timeout?
09:12They did.
09:13So the Lions will call their first timeout of the half.
09:18First charge timeout, Detroit.
09:2032nd timeout.
09:24All right, while the Lions call a timeout, we got a game break.
09:31Let's continue to hide.
09:32If the Colts win, Phillip Rivers comes off his couch in five years,
09:35and they win at Seattle.
09:35It's one of the greatest regular season NFL stories ever.
09:38Absolutely, KB.
09:39You could never have imagined that.
09:40Only in the NFL.
09:43Meanwhile, third and seven for the Lions.
09:49Oh, man.
09:51Yeah.
09:52Oh, there it is.
09:58Oh, most intercepted it probably should have been.
10:02Jalen McCullough right in his hands.
10:05Couldn't make the play, but the Rams get another stop.
10:07Yeah, just poor spacing all the way around.
10:10And the pressure by Jared Burst right up the middle.
10:13Force is an ill-advised throw.
10:15Look at all the bodies.
10:16Tesla's coming from the left, St. Brown to the right.
10:19There's a team meeting of Rams defenders right there.
10:22I don't know what Goff was looking at.
10:24That was very fortunate that they get an opportunity to punt on this possession.
10:29The Rams have forced three straight three and outs against this Lions offense, which couldn't
10:34be stopped in the first half.
10:35Jack Fox unleashes a bomb.
10:39This might be too far.
10:40And it is into the end zone.
10:42So the Rams will take over on the 20.
10:44Feeling good in the fourth.
10:46And Englewood up by 10.
10:48Trying to stay in that number one spot.
10:56It's been a good atmosphere.
10:57You know, we're talking in the break, Tom.
10:59And this place is just outstanding.
11:01It's a great place to watch the game.
11:02This is one of the loudest Rams crowds I've heard doing games here.
11:05It's been cool.
11:07Especially the way this defense is played.
11:08Now the Rams have it up by 10.
11:11It dominated the second half.
11:14Give it to Kyron Williams.
11:16Tries to get outside.
11:18He's going to pick up about four yards on that first down carry.
11:22Yeah, it'll be really interesting to see how aggressive.
11:26And I would say so far today, McVay's play calling has been very aggressive.
11:29A lot of play action pass, misdirection, boots.
11:32Up 10.
11:33Knowing the explosiveness of the Lions offense, I don't expect it to change too much.
11:38His run game has been very effective.
11:41Coram's averaging 4-6.
11:42Williams averaging 5-9 a carry.
11:45Stay on track.
11:48Still use these play action passes to skip third down if they can.
11:51Kyron Williams.
11:54Titing for over yard.
11:56Going to bring up a third down and three.
11:59Meanwhile, they're tending to defend some alignment.
12:02Rayden Fisk there.
12:03It looks like they're re-taping him.
12:04Let's see.
12:06Oh, wait there.
12:06Got stepped on.
12:08Ouch.
12:10So big boys.
12:12That's the land of the Giants in there.
12:14With their size 17 shoes and spikes that three-quarters inch deep that go into the turf.
12:21Got a lot of nasty black and blue toenails because of those guys.
12:24Yeah.
12:25He's been really good today in the middle of that line against that one.
12:2833, Stafford.
12:32Four-man rush.
12:34Now going deep.
12:36Devontae out.
12:37Oh, no.
12:37It was came up hurt there.
12:40He's been dealing with a hamstring injury in the middle of that route.
12:43He just started hobbling.
12:46Oh, no.
12:47You see McVay's face.
12:49They try to run the inside seam.
12:52He's been so healthy all year.
12:54And you could just see him slow up when that ball was kind of at the top of the arc.
13:03Man, oh, man.
13:04He's running, looking up, tracking the ball right there.
13:07Oh, no.
13:07He knows it.
13:08He's been limited in practice, just kind of nursing a hamstring injury for a couple weeks.
13:14And, boy, I hope he's okay.
13:16Injury timeout.
13:20Obviously, this is big ramifications for the Rams, not only today, but for their Super Bowl hopes.
13:26So, Devontae Adams with a hamstring injury.
13:29And then Eric Hallett, the starting safety today, he goes off for the Lions, too, at the end of that play.
13:34They're already super thin there.
13:35But after Adams came up short at the hamstring, they'll get it back down by two.
13:42A little miscommunication there.
13:43But Kennedy gets it, so the Lions will have it down by ten.
13:46Plenty of time to go.
13:47A lot of action going on.
13:48Let's check in with Carissa.
13:50A day that Patrick Mahomes got hurt, too.
13:53It's an incredible season that Micah Parsons has had.
13:56Let's hope it's not as bad as it looks.
13:59Nutrition in the NFL, keeping the players healthy and avoiding big injuries.
14:04This is the key to a lot of success in this season.
14:08Unfortunate to see it.
14:09Here's Goss.
14:10Sips one in.
14:10And the man, Khalif Raymond, who's back today, makes his first catch.
14:14He hasn't played a lot.
14:15He had a left ankle injury, missed the last couple games.
14:18Good to see him in there delivering for 20.
14:20Yeah, they need somebody to deliver outside of St. Brown and Williams.
14:24If it's Raymond, if it's Tesla, someone's got to ease that pressure on those other skill positions.
14:30Goff's got to find him like he did there.
14:32Pressure.
14:33Goff in trouble.
14:34Young bearing down.
14:35He got rid of it.
14:36Got hit as he threw it, too.
14:41Yeah, good sense by Goff.
14:43Just, again, not making a bad play worse.
14:45Nothing open downfield.
14:46A little pressure off the right side.
14:49Got Byron Young on Panay Su.
14:52Knowing the journey's over, throw it at the feet, stay on track.
14:59It's been really part of this Lions offense that's been a lot different this year than last year
15:04is the pressure that Goff has been under today.
15:0767% of his dropbacks has been under pressure.
15:09They just haven't tightened up the interior of that pass protection.
15:15And it's causing problems to Bob.
15:16Second and long.
15:17Underneath he goes.
15:18And catch is made.
15:20And Gibbs tackled immediately.
15:21And the one thing you see, like in that example right there,
15:24Goff can feel it.
15:25So now it's catch, throw, catch, throw.
15:28Then you don't allow your receivers to get down the field as much.
15:31And then that's when the field really starts to shrink.
15:33Yeah, their line was so good last year.
15:35Yeah, they just allowed for everything.
15:37And the run game, and the pass game, play action, and all the creativity.
15:41And this year, on that left side especially,
15:44Decker hasn't had quite Uri's capable revolving door at left guard.
15:47A lot of seepage from that left side has caused a lot of inaccuracy from Goff.
15:59Third down.
16:00Going to draw on to Gibbs.
16:01Can he get to the edge?
16:02He usually does.
16:03Strung out to Gibbs.
16:05His hit just short.
16:06And Cam Curl came over and made a big hit until it's a fourth and one.
16:10And obviously, the Lions are going to go.
16:12Yeah, they've been defending that edge very well.
16:14They haven't let any balls really get spilled to the outside.
16:18Finally, Gibbs breaks free to the perimeter.
16:20You see the explosive speed.
16:23Just wondering if some reverses, end-to-round speed sweeps
16:26and the players can do the same thing without involving the entire offensive line.
16:29On fourth and one, play fake.
16:46Goff throws back for the first down.
16:49And they stay alive.
16:50St. Brown, who else?
16:52Who has his 11th catch of the day?
16:54Guys, that is so hard.
16:56The boot to the left.
16:57Zone coverage.
16:58You're thinking it's going to be man.
16:59St. Brown finds the spot between Durant and the linebacker.
17:03And then Goff delivers it exactly where the defense is not.
17:08That is just high-quality football right there.
17:10I don't care what you say.
17:12Those two elite players on the same page.
17:15That's just awesome.
17:15Between Amalas, St. Brown, and Pukin Okua,
17:18it has been a clinic for a lot of receivers today.
17:24Four-man rush.
17:26Goff feels the pressure.
17:27This is a great tackle by Nate Landman,
17:33who's just stabilized his inside linebacker position.
17:37They gave him a nice three-year contract a few weeks ago.
17:39He's had a breakout year.
17:40Yeah, Landman, the LFG player of the game about ten weeks back.
17:43It was so exciting to give him that
17:45because he's just all effort.
17:47Not only is he physically very aggressive and strong,
17:51he's a very great processor of inf...
17:53processor of inf...
17:54processor of inf...
17:55processor, help me out, KB.
17:56Yeah, processor of inf...
17:57Yeah, you got it.
18:04On second down, no pitch to Gibbs.
18:06Trying to get to that edge.
18:08And the Rams do a great job out there.
18:11Spades was there to help string it along.
18:14Just no room for Gibbs today.
18:15Yeah, and Cologne misses the block there on Spades,
18:18the linebacker.
18:19Here's Spades.
18:20Cologne's got him, but then lets him to the outside
18:23and throws Gibbs off his route.
18:25Excuse me, off his path to the outside
18:28and Landman, again, over there to clean it up.
18:31That was clearly some inertia by Spades at that time.
18:35Oh, you now, too.
18:36I love this.
18:37High IQ broadcasting.
18:40He started a trend.
18:41Third and 11, Detroit.
18:45They're going to draw here, and that goes nowhere!
18:49On third and 11, Colby Turner says,
18:52ah!
18:52Well, they tried to trick him.
18:57Instead, they'll settle for a field goal down by 10.
18:59Yeah, a lot of bodies in there.
19:01They all were dropping out into zone coverage,
19:03but it's just not really clear for these linemen on this power play.
19:08Back to the left, who to block.
19:09Turner got penetration.
19:11Anytime you have pullers and you get penetration into the defense vertically,
19:15you're going to disrupt the blocking scheme,
19:17and that's exactly what happened there.
19:19Here is Bates, setting up for a 48-yard drive,
19:22trying to make it a seven-point game.
19:25Bates gets into one, and it is floating!
19:28Oh!
19:29It's beating a little bit, but he got it in there,
19:31and it is a one-score game here in Englewood.
19:40Well, the NFL family is committed to advancing social justice

19:58So, after three straight, three and outs,
20:02the Lions get something going.
20:03Boy, this was close.
20:05You had a little fade going there.
20:06Oh, yeah.
20:07Still hit the fairway.
20:08It was headed towards the woods.
20:10It was headed.
20:11I know all about that.
20:12So do I.
20:15But the Lions will take it.
20:17Nine plays, 36 yards, make it a one-score game.
20:22Yeah, just been awesome football all the way around today.
20:26Great quarterbacking, play calling,
20:28solid defense.
20:31I feel like everyone's got to earn it today.
20:33Quarterbacks have to make good throws.
20:34Receivers need to make really good routes and good catches.
20:38Play callers need to make the perfect call at the right time,
20:41and they've all seemed to really step up today
20:43to deliver a great offensive performance.
20:45Take it down up across the 30 to about the 31.
21:00Well, what a day for Puka Nakula.
21:01He catches 168 yards, Kyle.
21:04Yeah, he reminds me so much, and I dare to say it, Larry Fitzgerald.
21:09He does things on the outside part of the field, in the slot.
21:14Incredible hands.
21:15Run after catch.
21:17So smart.
21:18So aware.
21:18He's good on third down.
21:19He's good in the red area.
21:21He's just an all-around receiver.
21:23And I know Larry Fitzgerald is on my Mount Rushmore of NFL receivers.
21:29Puka is showing me so much to elevate himself.
21:34If he continues this for a long time, that's the type of player he is.
21:38Stafford in trouble.
21:39Stands up, delivers a strike, and it's...
21:42What, did he catch that?
21:43No, it's out of bounds.
21:442-2, well, now they say he was in.
21:48Maybe.
21:49I don't know.
21:50Maybe a skip off the turf there.
21:52Let's see.
21:53What do we got?
21:54It...
21:55Oh!
21:56Oh, my goodness.
21:58Is that...
21:59He got it.
22:00Throwing on the field.
22:01It's a completed pass.
22:02Second down.
22:04Two.
22:05I don't think he bobbled.
22:06I think it's a catch.
22:07Unbelievable.
22:09Dino says yes.
22:10Look at that.
22:11One.
22:12Two.
22:13Is that ball moving at all, Dean?
22:14Well, that's the key.
22:15It looks like he has control.
22:17Movement versus loss of control.
22:18They ruled that he had it.
22:19He did get two feet down.
22:21Incredible, incredible catch.
22:23Oh, my God.
22:23That was amazing.
22:25Picked up nine yards on a play that literally was dead, and he was thrown it away.
22:31The run in here to Blake Cole.
22:32Left side, first down.
22:34Across the 45.
22:36He goes.
22:38You know, they've been aggressive all day, so now I'm fascinated to see how Sean McVay
22:41calls his game.
22:42Does he stay in that mode?
22:44Yeah, I think he keeps that 13 personnel package in there.
22:47Now that he's down, Devontae Adams actually encourages even more.
22:50But this offensive line has got a lot of movement today.
22:53I don't see him coming off this run game too much with Jackson, Avila, Shelton, Dotson, McLennan.
22:58You're kind of this Detroit defensive run.
23:02They're doing everything they can to stop the run.
23:04And they just have not found any answer safe in this Rams run game.
23:07They're doing everything they can.
23:21Look at all the bodies, multiple linebackers, safeties down in the front.
23:24And this is just a duo play.
23:26You're trying to spill the ball to the corner.
23:29And Yasin comes in a little high out of control.
23:33Corum reads it on the bounce.
23:35And the easiest place to get to for a running back is the perimeter.
23:38You give up the edge.
23:39You spill it to the corner.
23:41That corner's got to come up and tackle.
23:42These Rams running backs do a great job of making a miss.
23:47Corum now 71 yards on the day.
23:51Here they're going to give it to the other back.
23:53It's Brian Williams who reverses field.
23:55See what he can do.
23:57That's a great run by Williams.
23:59He's inside the 25 and he's got five more.
24:02And we got another game break with Chris.
24:03It's a two-minute game-winning drive in him in Seattle.
24:06It would be unbelievably epic.
24:07I want to know what he was doing last Sunday is what I want to know.
24:10And not playing the Seahawks' D.
24:12No, not going up there and battling it out.
24:16Obviously, his relationship with Shane Steichen was super important.
24:20Pretty amazing what he's done and put himself, his team, in a position to do that anyway.
24:24Safford second down.
24:25Guess who?
24:26Kicking the tour.
24:27First down to the 11.
24:30He goes.
24:33God, this is just...
24:34Uh-oh.
24:35Oh, no.
24:37Oh, Noah's right.
24:40And a quarter where we saw Devontae Adams leave with a re-aggravated hamstring injury.
24:46Oh, no.
24:48He's grabbing.
24:51Oh, man.
24:52Like maybe a cramp.
24:55I don't know.
24:55Want to speculate.
24:59We're going to Kua.
25:00It's a career high in receiving yards.
25:03One hundred and eighty yards on nine catches.
25:06And now Sean McVay just wants to see him get up.
25:08Rams fans hold their breath.
25:12Injury timeout.
25:15Had a little help coming off on the field now.
25:17Looks like he's getting some steam, but you don't know.
25:20And you just hope he's okay.
25:21My goodness.
25:21So, have a career of a hundred and eighty-one yard a day.
25:24He won the Rams up seven, four, fifty-five to go.
25:26Safford looking for more.
25:28On the wall.
25:28Kyle Parkinson.
25:30He's in.
25:31Touchdown, L.A.
25:32I just love the play calling of McVay.
25:47Staying aggressive.
25:49You're out Adams.
25:50You're out Nakua.
25:51Instead of just running it up seven, you're like, no.
25:55We're going to run a play action.
25:56Naked bootleg.
25:58Get my tight end out there in space for Parkinson.
26:00That Parkinson and another touchdown for Parkinson.
26:04McNeil can adjust to the misdirection.
26:08And a great, accurate throw by Stafford.
26:12Continuing to use.
26:14Everybody that's active for this team contributes.
26:18It's so exciting for the tight end rooms to play a big role.
26:21The running back rooms to play a big role.
26:22And obviously, the receiver room.
26:24Everybody's eating.
26:26What an offense.
26:26I'll tell you what, Kobe Parkinson's turned into a touchdown machine.
26:30He's got six touchdowns the last six games.
26:34Two today for Parkinson.
26:36And the Rams back up to a two-score game as the extra point attempt by Meebus.
26:41And he's up and through.
26:43As we go downstairs to Aaron Andrews.
26:50Kev, I think this is the best news you could hear about Puka Nakua.
26:53Their training staff, they're calling it just cramps.
26:56So thank goodness to that.
26:57That is enormous.
26:58Thanks, Aaron.
26:59That's a big report.
27:00On a day that Devontae Adams goes down and doesn't look like, I don't want to speculate,
27:05but didn't look great with a lingering hamstring injury.
27:07So this has been something else, right?
27:08I mean, the Rams, we know they play Seattle on Thursday.
27:10That's going to determine a lot here.
27:12But you could see if they're able to somehow get a one seed, how difficult they would be
27:16to beat in this place.
27:17Yeah, because you're in this dome and everything is so precise.
27:20There's no wind.
27:20There's no weather elements.
27:22It plays so well to this elite surgical passing game that the Rams have right now.
27:28They're utilizing all their tight ends, all their receivers, all their running backs.
27:32And this misdirection and the way that Stafford's dealing just makes it impossible for these
27:37defenses to stop.
27:38Yeah.
27:39It's been a clinic today, no doubt.
27:41And I think you've got to give credit to this Rams defense, right?
27:43They were shredded in the first half, this shootout going, and they've done a masterful
27:47job in the second half against the Lions.
27:49And the Rams doing what they do.
27:51They scored a four or five second half.
27:52It's actually Matthew Stafford's got 368 yards and two touchdowns.
27:58And so the Rams with 449 left, up 14.
28:03Yeah, and you've got to give...
28:05Oh, sorry about that, KJ.
28:06Oh, no, let me do this real quick next Sunday.
28:08Justin Herbert and the Chargers take on the Cowboys, Jags and Broncos, too.
28:13Other regional action, local listings for the game in your area on Fox.
28:17Go ahead, TB.
28:18No, I was just really impressed at the halftime adjustments by Chris Shuba in this defense.
28:22They gave up so many big explosive plays there in the first half, and they just locked things
28:26down, and they also have not let this run game get going at all for the Lions.
28:30Just an impressive performance, certainly in the second half by this Lions defense, by
28:34this Rams defense, excuse me.
28:36Here's Goff, a lot of work to do.
28:39Down two touchdowns, and the first one goes incomplete to Amara St. Brown.
28:43Yeah, now you get into these passing games where you're down 14, and you need all five eligibles
28:47to get out there and make plays.
28:50And I know we've harped on the loss of Laporta and Brock Wright, their tight end.
28:53They're just not getting much production outside of St. Brown, outside of Williams.
28:59Maybe it's Raymond.
29:00Maybe it's Tesla.
29:02But someone's got to find some production here.
29:05Certainly about 14 with under five minutes to go.
29:07And just a reminder of what's at stake.
29:18If the Rams win, they clinch a playoff spot.
29:20The Lions right now control their own destiny, but if they lose today, they don't anymore for
29:25the playoffs, and they're going to need some help to get in.
29:27Yeah, they will need certainly a lot of help.
29:30They do so many things well.
29:31This injury bug has kind of bitten them last year.
29:35It's bitten them this year on defense.
29:38Tough to see.
29:39We're just wondering if this offense and these stars they have can keep up some of the league's
29:44best.
29:44It's a big challenge.
29:45First, they've got to deal with a third and ten.
29:52Goff, pressure on his face.
29:53Good as he throws.
29:54Gibbs tries to make the move at great line.
29:57He gets a first down.
29:58He stays in bounds here.
29:59He's taken down at the 49ers.
30:01He got around Jalen McCullough.
30:03Yeah, and he's turned into a bit of a passing weapon.
30:05That underneath presence that you normally get from your tight end position.
30:09Jameer Gibbs has played that role.
30:11This is just called a snow route.
30:13Go up.
30:13You can break either way.
30:14Win on leverage and let his speed and elucidness do the rest.
30:20God, this time is the time to move that incompletes.
30:23We got a game break.
30:24You serious?
30:26Phillip Rivers and Blake Groupie from 60 in Seattle?
30:29It's not inside.
30:30No.
30:31Don't tell Sean McVay that right now.
30:33He'd be...
30:34He's already intense enough.
30:36Oh, my goodness.
30:37That is wild.
30:39Be the win of the year in the NFL.
30:41We'll keep you up there there.
30:42Lions.
30:43What have they got left?
30:44Second and 10.
30:47Goss stands in and delivers a perfect ball to Jamison Williams.
30:51And he's inside the 35.
30:54And this guy's electric going across the field.
30:57Williams on Forbes.
30:58Crossing route.
31:00Just using his speed to go horizontally.
31:04Impossible to keep up with.
31:05Blitz is coming.
31:06Blitz is coming.
31:06Goss steps away.
31:08Look at it.
31:09The comebacker.
31:10There is Williams again.
31:12He's tough to cover with that speed.
31:16Oh, my God.
31:18How do you stop him?
31:19Think it's going deep with that elite speed.
31:22And now he puts the brakes on, turns it into a deep comeback on the scramble drill.
31:28Great awareness on the sideline.
31:29He's gassed.
31:30Look at his chins up.
31:32I need to breathe it.
31:33But, hey, bud, you got no other receivers in there.
31:34You got to get back in there.
31:36I know.
31:36It's been in here.
31:37I'm a Ross St. Brown amazing, but not much else.
31:41You saw Jamison Williams at 126 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.
31:46Brian's trying to stay alive and stay in this game.
31:48They need to score quickly.
31:51They're running here.
31:52It did.
31:53And that really hasn't worked much all day.
31:56Yeah, I like the run, though.
31:57You just got to keep it a little off bounce.
31:59It also protects that offensive line a little bit because they're getting pass rushed and they're
32:03going back in their stance all day.
32:05At least it gives them a chance to go forward a little bit.
32:14Here's Scott.
32:15Six-one across the ball.
32:16St. Brown's got it down at the five and it's first and goal for the Lions.
32:22Just ridiculous.
32:26Draped all over his back.
32:28Down inside the five.
32:29There's all passing from here on out.
32:34Got him.
32:35Swings and sure.
32:36He missed St. Brown that time.
32:39Yeah, St. Brown a little bit gassed.
32:43Just one-on-one with Wallace.
32:44This is a curl route.
32:45I hate curl routes in the man coverage.
32:47And he's right there with that big body.
32:49And you don't see St. Brown as a big receiver.
32:50But he's so thick and wide, it's hard to run through him.
32:54And he's got incredible hands.
32:55What a game he's had as well.
32:5812 for 151-2.
33:01McCullough is still, looks like he's ready to play.
33:04Aaron told you about the cramps.
33:06Right now the Lions got a score to stay alive.
33:09And they're playing pass defense with those safeties deep.
33:12They're forcing him to run it.
33:13Goff on the fake.
33:17Close to the corner.
33:18Williams into traffic.
33:20Incomplete.
33:22Josh Wallace was there.
33:24Yeah, it's a tough concept.
33:25Those two crossing routes into zone coverage.
33:29Williams running across.
33:30He knows he's got help on the other side with Wallace kind of falling off underneath that.
33:37Good job passing those crossers off.
33:42Again, they're doing everything they can to say run it.
33:44It's the situation you're in.
33:46Now you got Jameson Williams back there.
33:47Another great target here in the red area.
33:50Four down territory.
33:51You don't have to score here.
33:52But you also don't want any short completions in bounds.
33:54It's touchdown or nothing.
33:58There's Goff.
33:59No end zone.
34:01Complete.
34:02No flags.
34:03Tesla, the intended receiver, as Forbes was on him in its fourth and goal.
34:08That's the one guy they've tried to incorporate a little bit more.
34:12He made some decent plays in their last game.
34:15But one-on-one with the fade.
34:16You've got to do better than that.
34:17He's a rookie.
34:18He's learning on Forbes.
34:20He's actually had a decent year in coverage.
34:24But it all comes down to this, KB.
34:26At this point, where's St. Brown?
34:28Put your best guy, isolate him.
34:30See if he can win one-on-one.
34:35And we've got a timeout.
34:36Rams will call a timeout just to catch their breath.
34:40Their first one of the second half.
34:41And so the Lions on fourth down, it'll come down to this.
34:49And, well, they've converted a couple big ones today.
34:53The usual suspects, St. Brown, St. Brown, St. Brown.
34:57That usually works.
34:59And one of them was on their own 29-yard line where they went down and scored.
35:02But this one, it's either do or die.
35:05Get this or the game's essentially over.
35:07I mean, if you are the Rams defense, you're saying anyone but St. Brown.
35:16Know where he's at.
35:17Disrupt him at the line.
35:18Make sure he doesn't get any clean releases.
35:21He's going to be the go-to player if it's one-on-one.
35:25A little safety help at the bottom here.
35:27He's probably going to have to go to the top of the screen.
35:29Goff looking to St. Brown's way.
35:34Hit as he throws.
35:36Incomplete.
35:37Oh, penalty.
35:38There he is.
35:40There's a penalty in the end zone.
35:42So hang on.
35:47God, he's got a little safety help to the inside, but he still gets beat outside.
35:52A little handsy.
35:54It's kind of a ticky-tack call.
35:56St. Brown's falling anyway.
35:59Passing for his number one defense.
36:01The foul occurred in the end zone.
36:02The ball will be placed at the one-yard line.
36:04Automatic first time.
36:06That's the first penalty on the Rams all day.
36:10Yeah, big blitz.
36:11And then as Goff's releasing.
36:13Ah, one-on-one is a fingertip.
36:18Yeah, you're a quarterback.
36:19You tough it out.
36:20It's what you do.
36:21It hurts, but don't worry.
36:22It hurts tomorrow morning regardless of whether you win or lose.
36:25You may as well go win.
36:26So they've got to score for the two-minute warning here.
36:28Yeah, and I don't think you should run the ball at all.
36:30You have four downs to throw it.
36:32You don't want to take any chances that this clock is going to be running with two timeouts left.
36:39Look at this.
36:39I've got David Montgomery in a Wildcat situation here.
36:42They are going to run it.
36:43Montgomery is in.
36:46Wow, that was a really patient run.
36:51Yeah, patient and a bit risky.
36:55But I guess when you've got that big bruising back and you've got this coach, he's a big bruising tight end himself.
37:03You've got Cologne on the pull.
37:07And he goes right behind him.
37:09Landman can't get Montgomery on the ground, even though it was a clean shot.
37:12Good hard run.
37:14What an element of toughness he brings to this offense.
37:17And so the Lions still in this thing with 2.42 to go.
37:22And that was key with only two timeouts.
37:23Well, because they get the two-minute warning and they can kick off and play defense here.
37:28First extra point by Bates, and it's up and good.
37:31And so it's a seven-point game.
37:35And we have another game, right?
37:37Chris, you're keeping us busy with that Seattle indie game, I'm guessing.
37:4060 yards for indie and then 56 for Seattle to win it.
37:43And now this NFC West is so, I mean, it's so good.
37:47Seattle, the Rams, and San Francisco can beat everyone and anyone.
37:51So the Rams, if they hold on today, they're going to still be in first.
37:54They beat Seattle when they played them earlier in the year, but they play on Thursday,
37:57which certainly could be for the number one overall seed when it's all said and done.
38:02Sure, isn't it?
38:03When you look ahead to that, this game certainly isn't over yet.
38:06They got some, you know, good offensive football.
38:08They're going to need to play to close this out.
38:11But it's a quick turnaround regardless.
38:12And then going up to Seattle without probably Devontae Adams, the big, tall task.
38:18But if there's anyone up for this task, it's Sean McVay in this offense.
38:21Now the question is, does Kelvin Shepard's defense have one stop in it?
38:25Absolutely.
38:25They're going to send all those bodies in the front.
38:28Again, there's probably a lot of that 13 grouping.
38:31Got good mismatches at tight end if they play some man coverage.
38:34They love their tight end matchups on these safeties that are depleted in the Lions secondary.
38:38But that'll probably come down to a second down play action pass.
38:42I would expect them to probably hand it off, let it go to the two-minute warning
38:45and see if the Lions are going to call a timeout.
38:49Bates on the kickoff, puts it in the end zone.
38:51And the Rams will take a knee and start from their 35.
38:55So the Lions have the two-minute warning and two timeouts.
38:58Have to find a way to get off the field.
39:00The Rams, wow, look at that.
39:01Nakua's coming back on the field.
39:03That's great news for them.
39:04As Aaron told you cramps, here's the deal.
39:07Rams have 501 yards of offense.
39:09Ten more and they'll win the game, basically.
39:12Absolutely.
39:13God, I love football.
39:14And I love offensive football.
39:16I love good quarterback play, good scheming.
39:18And I love good, tough, hard-nosed defense, too.
39:21We'll see.
39:22Kind of giving up 41.
39:23Kelvin Shepard definitely doesn't feel good about the performance of this team.
39:26But all he needs is one stop to give his offense a chance.
39:28He's going to pick up six yards on first down.
39:43We get whistles.
39:44It looks like the Lions will call their second timeout.
39:49Interesting.
39:50Very interesting.
39:52We're going to try and get a stop, call the second timeout,
39:56and then you get a two-minute warning.
39:58And if you make the stop, you get it back with essentially two minutes left.
40:00That's how they're going to play it.
40:01But, as you said, they've got to make the stop.
40:04Got to make the stop.
40:05There's not a great man-to-man matchups.
40:07And that's the challenge right now with this kind of personnel grouping
40:11the Rams have on the field.
40:12They haven't stopped Stafford much today.
40:14He's got 368 yards passing, 101 rating.
40:19I would just expect the Rams to hand the ball off here on second down.
40:22They've been leaning on this defensive front all day.
40:26Go right back to the right side of this formation.
40:31See if they can dash them.
40:35That's what they do.
40:36Kyron Williams comes back, though, and he's got a first down.
40:40Oh, how big was that?
40:43Yeah, it's huge.
40:44It's just they can't solve these double teams.
40:46It's called a duo run.
40:48Two guys here working back.
40:51And all the leaning on that body.
40:53Look at that little hole to the backside A-gap between the backside guard.
40:57Great job by Ferguson.
40:59Pushing Hallett through the hole there.
41:01And Kyron, as he's done all season, finds any crease.
41:05Doesn't stutter his feet.
41:07Good shoulder lean.
41:08Such an efficient runner.
41:10Man, this offense is tough to stop.
41:12And so the Rams will try and run it out when we come back.
41:15First and ten, two-minute warning.
41:18As it stands right now, if the Rams win this game, they'll leapfrog and get into the number
41:22one seed momentarily.
41:23They play Seattle Thursday.
41:25That's a monster game.
41:26The Packers are losing in Denver as we speak.
41:29A lot of time to go in that game.
41:31And, boy, a lot can change, right?
41:33The Niners keep winning that playoff.
41:34But the NFC is so good.
41:36Here's the deal here.
41:37The Lions got to stop.
41:38They got one timeout.
41:39They get it back in about 25 seconds left.
41:41So they got one timeout.
41:44I think they would use it here.
41:45And, again, if they stop these next two plays, if they're runs, they'll get it with, like, 25 seconds.
41:50Yeah, just expect that's exactly what the Rams are going to do.
41:52Just run it up the kind of middle of the defense and obviously protect the football.
41:57No turnovers.
41:58You end up putting the ball back to your own ten-yard line.
42:02Or, excuse me, the Lions ten-yard lines.
42:03Just 90 yards.
42:05I've seen a lot of miracles in the NFL.
42:07That would be very tough to overcome that one.
42:08That would be hard.
42:10And so that's what Sean Mavey is looking at.
42:12What can he do to get one more first down to try and seal the Rams' 11th win of the season?
42:17Yeah, what a resilient game by the Rams as well.
42:21Starting off the game with a good drive.
42:22Stafford throws the pick on the screen.
42:25Defense doesn't come up with a stop.
42:27You know, they're kind of giving up that fourth down play before the half to the Lions.
42:32They go down and score.
42:33Doesn't look very good at halftime, but found a great way to come back in the second half
42:37and thwart this Lions offense.
42:39Played some great football down the stretch.
42:42There's Kyron Williams.
42:44And it will be a third down coming your way.
42:47Third and five as the clock will run.
42:49Let the clock run.
42:53Milk it, milk it.
42:54That's what I was doing on the sideline.
42:55That's the grandson of a farmer in Minnesota.
43:02Milk it, milk it, milk it.
43:03That's what they're going to do.
43:04Yep.
43:13Well, for those of you who just joined us, it's been a shootout.
43:16It's been a lot of fun.
43:17The Rams were down 10 at one point in this game, and then they went off in the third quarter.
43:21There's 17 unanswered there.
43:22Their defense got three straight stops of the Red Hot Lions offense to take control of the game.
43:27And where we stand right now, it comes down to this final play.
43:30Minute nine to go.
43:31Rams up a touchdown.
43:33Lions are out of timeout.
43:35So a first down ends it, and if not, Detroit will get it with about 25-ish seconds left.
43:49Again, for those of you just joining us, let's get you up to speed.
43:52It's been a really fun game, and the Lions have gone on the roster.
43:55He's been amazing.
43:5612 catches, 150 yards, two touchdowns.
43:59Well, the Rams have done pretty great work through the air, too.
44:02Two touchdowns for Colby Parkinson.
44:03This is the bad news.
44:05Devontae Adams re-injured that hamstring.
44:07That's a problem, and we don't know.
44:09We'll see how that is going forward.
44:11Kuka Nakua's had a monster day.
44:13Nine catches, 181 yards.
44:15That's a career high for him.
44:17He's in there right now.
44:19Third down, Rams first down ends it.
44:21If not, the Lions will have a little breath of hope left.
44:28They're going to give it to Nakua.
44:29On the sweep left, and...
44:32He fought hard, but he's not going to get there, and the clock won't run.
44:36He's in balance.
44:38Yeah, good job.
44:39Just trying to get the ball to the edge and maybe spring him free on a misdirection.
44:42Lions defense doesn't go for it.
44:44Now, they'll just let it go all the way down.
44:46Whether they use their timeout or not, take the delay.
44:48Probably just use the timeout with one second and try to pin it back inside the 10-yard line.
44:55And a long ways to go for the Lions offense.
45:01Jared Goff and his homecoming.
45:03A little no-brainer.
45:04Try to get him off sides.
45:05Not fooling us today, KB.
45:18Every once in a blue moon, it works.
45:21Every once in a blue moon.
45:22We're not falling for that one, Matthew.
45:24I've got to go back to something America needs to know.
45:28You were just talking about milk and the clock, and, you know, grandfather was a farmer.
45:31Did you milk cows back in the day?
45:33I did.
45:34It was one of the favorite things I did as a kid.
45:36My grandpa would take me out in Minnesota.
45:38Brarville, Minnesota, there was about 200 people in my mom's hometown.
45:42It's a highlight in the summer to go out there and catch sunfish with my uncles
45:46and then milk the cows first thing in the morning with my grandpa.
45:49Little did you know.
45:50I'm just surprising you with all this.
45:52I know you pretty well by now, and I did not know that.
45:54And I can't wait to see the headline tomorrow.
45:56You know, if the Rams hold on.
45:57Rams maintain one seed.
45:58Brady melt cows.
45:59And I would go into the creamery, and I'd scoop some of that cream right up the top
46:05of the pasteurization.
46:06That's awesome.
46:07Oh, my God.
46:08I was in heaven.
46:09So great.
46:10All right.
46:11Come on.
46:12Lions waiting back, looking for a miracle.
46:14Evans cut it away, gets it out.
46:16Good, high, booming kick.
46:18Let's do it!
46:20The pass is at a one-inch line at the end of the end zone, but just 13 seconds left.
46:25That was such a high kick and wasted a good amount of time.
46:27So, I don't know what kind of Stanford band plays Dan Campbell has, but you're going to
46:34need everything you've got to go 80 yards in 13 seconds.
46:37A lot of desperation here.
46:39Everyone prepares these.
46:41Every offense has plays for, call it desperado.
46:44Desperado.
46:45There's a catch and a bunch of laterals.
46:47And then usually on defense, you put your 11 best tacklers out there, which they've got
46:54a lot of good tacklers on this defense.
46:56They don't have to change much.
46:58Sunday Night Football, by the way.
46:59Vikings and Cowboys comes up at NBC at 8.22.
47:02Kickoff there with Mike and Chris.
47:07First, the finale here.
47:0813 seconds left.
47:10Rams will rush one.
47:17Goff over there.
47:19So the ground flip to Jameson, Rams, who gets taken down.
47:22Clock at 6.
47:23I don't know if they're going to make it.
47:25Let's see.
47:25Yeah, not enough time.
47:26Ref's got to touch it.
47:27And that's it.
47:28Touch one.
47:28And they'll do it.
47:31And so the Rams come back from behind in this one.
47:35What a great second half.
47:37And they beat the Lions to move to 11-3 on the year.
47:40And with it, they clinch a playoff for it.
47:44What a slugfest between two quarterbacks who really admire each other.
47:49Goff, Stafford, McVay, another incredible season by him.
47:55This offense can't be stopped.
47:57Sean McVay and the Rams keep on winning.
48:04And now a monumental test comes up Thursday against Seattle.
48:07But tonight, they stay in first place in the NFC and clinch a playoff for 41-34, your final.
48:13The OT presented by Ford comes your way next.
