Former President Donald Trump has urged U.S. governors to switch to paper ballots, implement strict voter ID requirements, and adopt same-day voting to ensure election integrity. Speaking at the White House, Trump called paper ballots "impossible to cheat" and criticized the current voting system. Will this reshape future elections?

00:00And I would hope that every Republican would.
00:03So it costs exactly 8% of what the machines cost.
00:07These machines, they've got something going.
00:09It's called watermark.
00:11It's impossible to copy, impossible to cheat.
00:14It's actually hard to believe that a piece of paper is highly sophisticated.
00:19But it's watermark, and it's very...
00:22It's amazing, actually, when you see it. You can't cheat.
00:25But if you went to paper ballots and same-day voting...
00:30Thank you for your help. We did very well in Georgia.
00:32It was very nice.
00:34But some of these states, if you had a close election...
00:38One other thing, just before we leave, I think you should do this.
00:42If... I mean, for safety and security and for the good of our nation,
00:48you should do it anyway, regardless, even if it costs 10 times more.
00:51But it actually costs you just a tiny fraction.
00:55If you went to paper ballots and you're voting...
00:58And I would hope that every Republican would.
01:01So it costs exactly 8% of what the machines cost.
01:05These machines, they've got something going.
01:07They get business. It's amazing.
01:11So paper ballots... And paper is very sophisticated today.
01:14Paper, it's called watermark.
01:16It's impossible to copy, impossible to cheat.
01:20It's actually hard to believe that a piece of paper is highly sophisticated.
01:24But it's watermark, and it's very...
01:27It's amazing, actually, when you see it.
01:29You can't cheat.
01:31But if you went to paper ballots and same-day voting,
01:35and if you went to voter ID,
01:38and also one other thing, you want a proof of citizenship.
01:41Those four things. Proof of citizenship, voter ID,
01:44paper ballots, one-day voting.
01:46And if you went to two-day voting or three-day voting.
01:48But some of these states, you go and you had 64 days.
01:51You know, California just finished up just a short while ago.
01:55They were voting a week and a half ago.
02:00They're trying to finish them up.
02:02And other states, too.
02:04They were weeks after the election.
02:06I mean, if that were a close election,
02:08you'd have to wait for weeks and weeks and weeks.
02:10You got finished fast, Brian.
02:12Thank you for your help. We did very well in Georgia.
02:14It was very nice.
02:16But some of these states, if you had a close election,
02:19you wouldn't know who won.
02:21And then, you know, once that happens,
02:23then you really never know who won.
02:25But you would save tens of millions of dollars.
02:29Forgetting about right, wrong, and security, safety,
02:33our country, our Constitution, and all of this.
02:36Number one, you'd have a much safer election.
02:38Number two, everybody, you'd know the results of your election
02:41by 10 o'clock. Everybody.
02:43It's a beautiful system. It's boxes of 5,000.
02:46Boom, boom.
02:48And you can go and examine each box.
02:50It's so simple and so good.
02:53I did ask Elon because he knows more about computers than anybody.
02:57And I said, what do you think of the voting system?
03:00He said, computers are not meant for voting.
03:03It's just not a good...
03:05It's too many transactions taking place too quickly.
03:09It's just not...
03:11And I've gone to the best people,
03:13the smartest computer minds from MIT, from others.
03:16My uncle was a professor for 41 years at MIT.
03:20And a brilliant guy.
03:22And I got to know a lot of the people up there.
03:25And they will tell you that the most secure way
03:28that you can secure the election,
03:30and probably the fastest way,
03:32because there can be very little hanky-panky,
03:35is paper ballots. Can you believe it?
03:38I hope, Sarah, that certainly the Republican governors...
03:43But if you want to save a lot of money,
03:45you go to paper ballots.
03:47It'll cost you 8% of what the costs are now.
03:50And that's based on a good deal for machines.
03:53And then when you go through the days and weeks and months of waiting,
03:57France had mail-in ballots.
04:00Any time you have mail-in ballots, you're going to have fraud.
04:03Without question.
04:05And France had it, and they went back to paper ballots.
04:08And I saw their election, and their election was over at 9 o'clock,
04:12and their numbers came in at 10.05.
04:15And there were no complaints.
04:17They had a winner, they had a loser.
04:1939 million votes.
04:21And it was done.
04:23We're one of the only people that has now mail-in voting.
04:26One of the only countries that has mail-in voting.
04:29Don't miss out.
