An NYPD Officer is receiving favorable attention for the way he handled an unexpected encounter with a choking woman. The cop had been on the Bronx River Parkway conducting speed enforcement.

He was in the right hand lane, behind a 2014 Ford Taurus with its hazard lights switched on. Suddenly the vehicle slowed down and pulled off to the side.

The officer, named Gregory, stayed behind the driver and also stopped. The cop exited his vehicle and approached the female driver.

The officer was confused by what caused the bizarre vehicular operation. She pushed her door open and climbed out of her car, which is right about the time the officer knew something was wrong with her.

The woman was hunched over. Gregory didn’t miss a beat. He immediately asked her if she was choking. After she replied yes, Gregory told the woman to place her hands on her chest.

Then, he wrapped his arms around her stomach and began performing the Heimlich maneuver. He was successfully able to singlehandedly dislodge the lozenge that was blocking the female’s airway.
