A stray cat was rescued after its hind legs and hips were skewered by metal spikes intended to keep out burglars.

Sunee Buathong was called by her housemate to check on a stray moggy stuck on the railings around their home in Chainat province, Thailand on Sunday (August 23).

Luckily, the cat was found in time before it could have bled to death having skewered by the spikes on the wall.

They called the animal rescuers who arrived at the home with electric cutting machines to remove the metal.

The team found the male tabby, estimated to be three-years-old, crying in pain after being stabbed by the spikes for hours and left to bleed on the wall.

The barbs were removed using an electric cutter for more than 20 minutes.

They left the spikes inside the kitten's wounds because it will bleed out if they pull it out.

Its wounds were covered with a cloth and the rescuers carried the poor kitten down the wall.

The cat was later taken to the vet as all medical fees will be paid by the house owner Sunee.

She said: "I am familiar with the cat because it sometimes comes into my place to have some snacks. I will take care of the fee. The cat needs surgery to recover."
