Flooded river smashes though 30-year-old bridge in Thailand

Dramatic footage shows tourists walking across a bridge moments before a flooded river breaks it in half.

Heavy rain had lashed the area in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, causing the Mee Ma river to swell and fill with fallen branches.

Boonsri Sriboonma, 62, captured the moment the force of nature became too much for the bridge and it swept it away downstream.

He said: ''This bridge was built in 1986. It had been strong until the present day.

‘'It had been raining heavily, causing huge trees to fall under the bridge, and many bamboo poles to collapse into the river.

''The bridge was unable to withstand the force of the rapids and it was broken down."
