A Florence, Kentucky family is devastated after a car veered off the road and struck several family members who were walking on the shoulder—claiming the lives of two twin babies and their grandfather. The tragic accident occurred Sunday afternoon around 12:30 p.m.

Charles Napier was pulling one child in a wagon. His 13-month-old twin grandchildren were in a wagon pulled by Susan Elam.

A 22-year-old woman from Erlanger was driving a Chevy Malibu northbound on Weaver Road. The driver of the car then veered onto the shoulder into the path of the oncoming pedestrians.

Nearby resident Frances Claybern told a local ABC news affiliate that she heard the accident and dialed 911.

Pam Perez was driving by when she saw aftermath. Her daughter Brittany Ballard performed CPR on the twins.

Ballard's efforts were unsuccessful. Sean and Samantha May died at the scene along with their Grandfather. Elam suffered minor injuries.

The third adult and child in the wagon pulled by Napier walked away from the incident without injury. The driver has been cooperating with investigators—no charges have been filed.
