Baby killed after driver slams into pedestrians in Jerusalem

The scene in Jerusalem after a car slammed into pedestrians, killing a baby and injuring eight people.

(SOUNDBITE) (Hebrew) ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER'S SPOKESPERSON MARK REGEV SAYING:

"Today's terror attack in Jerusalem, the attack on a mother and baby, is typical of Hamas."

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

SOUNDBITE:Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld saying:

"A short while ago a suspect vehicle drove into the bus stop, the light railway bus stop here...Police units responded, that arrived at the scene, suspect was shot."

The suspect, a 21-year-old resident of Arab East Jerusalem is reportedly in serious condition.

Israeli spokesman Mark Regev blamed both Hamas and Abbas.

SOUNDBITE: Israeli spokesman Mark Regev saying:

"President Abbas himself unfortunately continues to use inflammatory rhetoric inciting against Israelis. This is instead of being a force for peace and reconciliation."
