Tom Timothy & His Frivolity Club Orchestra - Tell Me You're Sorry

Unfortunately, this amazing band is largely forgotten today. I found hardly any information, except - very luckily - a sheet music cover featuring this orchestra. However, thanks to most valuable information provided by one of my viewers I can now offer a biography of this remarkable musician and recording data. Personnel on this great side by Thomas/Tom "Spatty" Timothy's orchestra was, a.o.: Theo Alban, vocals, Andy Bosseau/Bossen, trumpet and Domenick Romeo, banjo. This side was cut on May 10 of 1928 and issued originally on Edison Diamond Disc 52311 and Edison Blue Amberol cylinder 5542. As for Timothy himself, he was born on June 15 of 1895 as the son of irish parents. Timothy's first records were with Ben Selvin's band from November 25 of 1922 to May 28 of 1924 for Vocalion. Timothy sailed for England on February 9 of 1925, and after arriving there, he joined and recorded with the Savoy Orpheans until November 16 of 1925. He went back to the USA on November 28 of 1925; after reaching there, he rejoined Ben Selvin twice (from April 7 of 1926 to June 25 of 1926 & from April 4 to August 26 from 1927). When Selvin left for Columbia to became musical director, Timothy took over Selvin's regular working band and brought it to the Frivolity Club. Timothy recorded under his own name for Pathé Actuelle on October 19 of 1927 (though the titles were rejected), Cameo (2 sessions with one being on November 24 from 1927 and December 15 of 1927) and Edison (on May 10 of 1928). Timothy played and recorded with Emil Coleman's band from 1933 to 1940, though he filed for bankruptcy on February from 1937. He died on October 18 from 1958 in Flushing, Queens, New York.
