WEB USERS MOCK UK COUNTER-TERRORISM PLAN
Early childcare providers including nursery school staff and registered child minders must report toddlers and young children they consider at risk of “being drawn into terrorism”. This new measure put forward by the British government has been met with strong criticism in the UK with thousands of web users voicing their outrage over the proposed legislation.
Many have taken to social networks slamming the anti-terror plan, posting messages under the #ToddlerTerror hashtag; many saying the measure violates children`s fundamental rights. Web users also feel that if the government sees every single child living in the United Kingdom as a potential terrorist, then it is heading down a very dangerous path.
And while many in the UK have shared their anger over the government`s proposed legislation, some have decided to poke fun at it. As we can see here, scores of creative photomontages have found their way online, depicting all sorts of methods to be used in identifying future terrorists. An untidy dolls house for example is surely an indicator of possible radicalization … the aim of all these online posts is to highlight the absurdity of the authorities` proposed legislation. 33
