Jehu Mulobo Mandjoko is a guitarist and vocalist in India and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His music demonstrates an acoustic simplicity, which draws influences from an electric range of genres from soukous, blues, afrosia, rumba, reggae and jazz. (Congolese rumba is locally called soukous, a word derived from the French word "secousse" or "shake".)
His song writing is in the Bantu dialect, but he occasionally composes in French, Hindi and English,
Jehu approaches his music freely - he likes to take the liberty of improvising both with his instruments, and lyrics, and incorporates local elements and influences to create a fun performing ambience.
He regularly does acoustic sets at The Rose Hotel in Hauz Khas, Delhi, and other venues and looks for interesting collaborators to create fun sounds.
