Treadmill desks are becoming increasingly popular.

Ever get tired of sitting at your desk working all day?

How about doing your office work at a treadmill desk? Designed to change the sedentary lifestyle created by the modern work environment, the treadmill desk is gaining popularity.

Salo, a Minneapolis financial consulting firm encourages their employees to utilize the twelve treadmill desks that are installed in their office.

Salo employees rotate between getting their work done while on the treadmill and at a traditional desk.

Other companies like the health care company Humana, have also taken to using the treadmill desk,

Doctor James Levine, an endocrinologist from the Mayo Clinic, developed the idea.

Now Steelcase has treadmill desks, called Walkstations, that are commercially available.

Steelcase’s website says that “at a maximum speed of 2 mph the Walkstation lets you walk comfortably" burn calories, feel healthier and more energized while accomplishing the work you’d normally do while seated.”

There are many health benefits associated with a more physically active lifestyle, including a lower blood pressure and risk of diabetes,
maintaining balanced cholesterol, metabolism, and body weight and even a longer life expectancy.

Would you use a treadmill desk?
