A gunman opened fire at a summer school meeting in Utoya on Friday.

The meeting was a summer camp for politically interested teenagers convened by Jens Stoltenberg, the Norwegian prime minister's, ruling Labour Party.

At least nine or ten people were killed in the shooting incident, while seven people were killed in a "related" bomb blast, according to Norwegian authorities, in Oslo on Friday.

Kristine Melby, who was in her cabin, just about 200 metres from where the summer camp was being held, witnessed the shooting and events that followed.

Melby spoke telephonically to Al Jazeera from her cabin in Utoya.
