Clinton departs Georgia on Caucasus tour

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton departed Georgia's Black Sea resort of Batumi on Wednesday (June 6), where she met Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and diplomatically pressed the government to hold free and fair parliamentary elections.
Batumi is a resort town that is attracting five-star hotels and an investment from New York real estate mogul Donald Trump.
Aides said the visit to Batumi would dramatise the difference between the booming Georgian resort and the isolated towns in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, two Georgian enclaves over which Russia tightened its control after a five-day war in 2008.
Clinton left Georgia for this year's Eurovision Song Contest host country Azerbaijan, a visit which is also part of her eight-day trip to Scandinavia, the Caucasus and Turkey.
