Nine people in three US states said to have ties with a Christian militia group have been charged with sedition and weapons violations.

The suspects are believed to be members of a group called Hutaree, which according to their website, means "Christian Warrior".

Prosecutors say the defendants were plotting to instigate violence by conspiring to kill police officers in the hopes of provoking government anger.
