This was the moment when Hollywood royalty met British royalty.
Director Steven Spielberg's new film "War Horse" was chosen for a royal gala premiere.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed the director, along with his family and cast and crew.
Spielberg didn't seem too worried about royal protocol ahead of meeting the Prince and the Princess.

"I don't know. Something about tonight has to be spontaneous which means if I make a faux pas it will be an honest one."
The Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton arrived in a black lace dress from Alice Temperley, ahead of the Duchess' 30th birthday on Monday (January 9).
600 servicemen were invited to the screening, which was in aid of the Prince William and Prince Harry foundation.
"War Horse" comes to the big screen after a successful Tony-award winning run on stage.
It tells the story of a racehorse named Joey who was trained for farm work under the loving tutelage of Albert, played by newcomer Jeremy Irvine.
Horse and groom were later divided by the grim realities of War World I.
On the red carpet, Spielberg was joined by both stars - horse and actor.
Irvine, who was plucked from obscurity, said he still can't believe he landed the role of a lifetime.

"I still haven't really taken it in. I'm still trying to take in how on earth I could've fooled them to let me be in this movie."
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch is also a rising star.
He plays the lead role in the British tv production of "Sherlock" and appeared in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and the much-anticipated "The Hobbit" and "Star Trek II".

"It's gobsmacking. I have to pinch myself and I'm very privileged to be working as much as I am on quality projects with extraordinary people."
"War Horse" also stars Emily Watson, David Thewlis and Peter Mullen.
The movie is already out in U.S. theatres and will be released in British cinemas on Friday (January 13).
