00:00Like the Prime Minister Abli said that we want to lead the world when it comes to 6G
00:04and he set a target of 10% of the 6G patents to be coming out of India.
00:09In AI areas we have a lot of technologies in the digital infrastructure
00:16such as data centers or submarine cables or mobile networks.
00:22I think the larger conversation or the larger threat today is
00:28as everything keeps getting more and more connected with 5G, 6G,
00:32more seamless internet is cyber security.
00:35We have been preparing for 6G since the last couple of years.
00:39Hi sir, thank you for speaking.
00:41Hi sir, thank you for speaking with us.
00:43Jio is having a stall at IMC.
00:46Tell us what all the technologies are focusing on.
00:48We are trying to showcase the entire digital society vision that we have for Jio.
00:53I think what we are focusing on is our consumer value proposition.
00:57you know, we really believe that we can innovate on the voice service,
01:02on the data service using AI.
01:03We believe that that would be very beneficial to all of the Indian consumers
01:08and that's what we focused on.
01:11What we are also showing is our progress that we are making on satellite technologies
01:14and what we can prove to be an indigenous satellite stack based out of India.
01:20Sir, India is rolling out 5G on a war footing and 6G is also working on 6G.
01:29Can you explain how it is working on and what can you expect?
01:32So, like the Prime Minister Ablee said that we want to lead the world when it comes to 6G
01:37and he set a target of 10% of the 6G patents to be coming out of India.
01:42We are going to contribute to that story heavily.
01:45In fact, in our pre-6G time we have already filed for patents.
01:48We have almost, at least from a standards perspective, we will be able to get to, you know, a world
01:54-class level
01:55which is only comparable by two or three other countries in the world.
01:59Sir, what about the satellite communication with the new voice support and how do you see it?
02:04So, today we cover 99% of India's living population to give a home internet service.
02:09And what we believe is that now, from covering the living population, we need to cover to the landmass also.
02:16And that's what we will be aiming to do.
02:18We also recognize that we have to give the highest of quality at the most affordable of rates
02:22and that's what Jio has always stood for, so that's what we'll try and maintain.
02:26So, we've been here five years now at the India Mobile Congress.
02:29I think it is the best platform when it comes to the telecom and connectivity industry.
02:34A lot of technology players all under one roof.
02:36And I think it is a great place to also meet the right people and launch the newest products that
02:43you have.
02:44Alright.
02:45Sir, what role does your company in the current factory space and what role will it play when India takes
02:51out of 6G stacks?
02:54So, as you know, everything, connectivity is a very integral part of our lives.
03:00You see everything around you, be it phones, tracking systems, cameras, everything is just connected.
03:05All the devices are connected.
03:07All the devices are connected.
03:07What we do for the past 10 years is provide machine-to-machine M2M connectivity, IoT connectivity.
03:14We have a telco-agnostic platform which helps our device makers and vehicle OEMs have an always-on connectivity wherever
03:22they go.
03:23They are also able to remotely provision networks, whether it be different networks in India,
03:28as well as when they are exporting their devices or vehicles internationally.
03:32So, give us a launch today.
03:34Yeah.
03:34Can you show us about that?
03:35Yes.
03:36So, we wanted to take it a step further also in the connectivity ecosystem.
03:42As you know, a lot of the technology around connectivity is now indigenous, and that is why we have launched
03:51our own 4G IoT module.
03:54It is a part that goes into everything that is connected to any device.
03:59And currently, that market is more or less captured by firms from our neighboring countries.
04:08So, we wanted to do it indigenously.
04:10So, it is a make-in-India product based on the Qualcomm chipset, and it is called Vega M1.
04:16It is named after the Sanskrit word Vega, meaning seamless connectivity, which is what we want to enable for all
04:23our partners.
04:24So, what is your planning for the future?
04:26In fact, in a couple of years or maybe five years, is it a big plan?
04:30Yeah.
04:30So, at our company, we have, over the years, more and more gotten into the telecom industry through travel eSIMs,
04:40through SIM production for the telcos, through growing our core business, which is the M2M subscription business,
04:47and now our modules.
04:49And we will continue to go down that line, which is keeping, providing the best in-class connectivity,
04:56developed indigenously, designed, and manufactured in India.
05:00The priorities of chipset is increased, you know, basically because there is some shortage of America,
05:06or something like that, you know.
05:07So, do you think it is going to increase the priorities of the second one cellular phones,
05:12and such devices in that industry?
05:14So, how is the company like this?
05:16Yeah, definitely, right?
05:18So, it is a phenomenon that's hit everything across the sector, whether it be appliances,
05:24or the small basic chips that go into your phones, because of the high compute chips that all the fabs
05:30are going after.
05:32The supply chain is something we already live with.
05:35I think we've had those disruptions even during COVID.
05:37This is something similar.
05:39And everyone will have to adapt and the whole industry will come together and still make it work, I think.
05:46I think the larger conversation or the larger threat today is, as everything keeps getting more and more connected with
05:545G, 6G,
05:55more seamless internet, is cyber security and data sovereignty, which is exactly why we come up with the solutions to
06:03keep everything in our country,
06:05and secure, and secure from outside factors, right?
06:09Which kind of headwinds the sector is happening?
06:13Like you said, there are some supply chain disruptions, but overall, as our Prime Minister Modi ji and Minister of
06:21Communication Mr. Sindhya mentioned,
06:25it is an evergreen sector, where more and more growth will come from, as everything keeps getting more and more
06:32connected.
06:33Alright, sir. Do you think there will be some policy reform, or do you expect any policy reform for the
06:38fact that the government has done its part?
06:41I think the government has done its part. They contribute a lot into connecting the Grand Panchayas and the villages.
06:49They are also working on satellite connectivity for the remote areas, and I think that is the sector that they
06:55will keep developing on,
06:56because they know the importance of connectivity for everyone.
07:00So, any plan to join hands on follow-up with other countries in the future?
07:04So, we've, our, as you know, with the government's impetus on make in India, across the industries, right?
07:14Whether it be automotive, whether it be other devices, appliances, wearables, everything is now manufactured in India and exported everywhere.
07:22So, we already power the international programs for all these devices, right?
07:26Where they are able to get an embedded SIM at the factory stage here, and once they are exporting it
07:32to any country,
07:33be it Nepal, Sri Lanka, Africa, Europe, the US, they're able to provision connectivity all from here through our platform.
07:40So, we already do collaborate with the globe.
07:43Ma'am, as the role of country manager, what news is happening in India?
07:47Well, lots happening. We have always played a critical role in what we do in the telecom segment in the
07:54country.
07:54We are now adding more energies focused on some of the new technologies which we are developing from India.
08:01We have a large base in the R&D, core networks, autonomous networks, AI-based solutions.
08:07A lot of that is being developed from India.
08:10We also have manufacturing in India, which we are trying to see how we expand the portfolio,
08:15looking at the priorities of the government of India to manufacture more.
08:19Any new thing which is going to launch, I may ask?
08:22You know, technology launches keeps happening.
08:25We are betting big on AI, and you'll see a lot of things coming that way in the near future.
08:30What's the preparation?
08:32Oh, we are, see, globally as well as in India, we have been preparing for 60 years since the last
08:38couple of years.
08:39Our teams actively work on standards contributions, which happens from India, as well as our global presence team.
08:49We will continue to do that till the time the standards process is over, let's say by next year.
08:54And then the development of technology starts.
08:56So, now the chips are getting cost here.
08:58So, okay, I'll skip that question.
09:00And there is one more thing.
09:02What is the role of the group here in the India mobile conference?
09:05Well, we have been one of the members who have participated in this since, you know, the beginning, 10 years
09:12back.
09:13We bring our technology showcase here.
09:16Our partners are here, our customers are here.
09:18We try to make sure that, you know, we put our best technology on showcase for the industry to see
09:24and governments to also explore.
09:26Do you see any support from the government of India in the telecom sector?
09:31Oh, huge. You know, telecom is a critical sector.
09:34And, you know, it still becomes an important part of, you know, as Honourable Prime Minister also said,
09:41this has helped create the whole digital transformation for the country.
09:45It enables everything what governments want to do.
09:48So, yes, government is a big, big partner.
09:50And there are a lot of schemes, a lot of programs which the government runs, which has helped this sector
09:56to actually reach where it is today.
09:57Our ministry is responsible for promoting the Japan and India cooperation in the ICT area.
10:08So, this is our Japan pavilion and 11 Japanese ICT companies which has cutting edge technologies and services such as
10:20Open Run,
10:22Quantum Technology or and AI data center or something like that.
10:28And they have a very good technology.
10:32So, please come to our pavilion.
10:35And IMC is a very wonderful platform to introduce our Japanese companies technology fair.
10:45So, which Japanese companies are here today at IMC?
10:48Yes. So, Toshiba, OREXSI, NTT data, and Zerosem, Honda, sorry, I forgot the name.
11:01So, anyway, 11 companies.
11:04So, how do you find Indian market to do business here?
11:07Because we have a very good relationship between Indian government.
11:12And we also, last year, we also have public and private dialogue.
11:19And they, Japanese companies joined the team.
11:23And so, that is why we can cooperate at the governmental level and private sector level.
11:36So, do you feel any kind of difficulty or any kind of support from the government of India here?
11:44Actually, based on the Make India policy in India government, all the, basically all the Japanese government tries to adapt
11:55those situations.
11:57So, that's fine.
11:57But, honestly speaking, we, some institutional issues existed.
12:06So, but as for those pro challenge issues, we try to talk with the Indian government.
12:14So, so far, so far so good.
12:18Yes.
12:19So, the Indian government is focusing so much on AI.
12:22Yes.
12:23The Japanese is the best, you know, leading in technology.
12:26Yes.
12:28So, which kind of support Indian government is taking from Japan in this regard?
12:32Yes.
12:32So, yes.
12:32Which kind of support India is taking from Japan in AI and in the telecom sector like 5G and 6G?
12:39Yes.
12:40In AI areas, we have a lot of technologies in the digital infrastructure such as data centers or submarine cables
12:56or mobile networks.
12:59So, in those areas, we provided those technologies to the digital infrastructure areas.
13:08Yes.
13:08Yes.
13:09Yes.
13:09Yes.
13:09Yes.
13:09Yes.
13:10Yes.
13:10Yes.
13:11Yes.
13:13Yes.
13:13Yes.
13:14Yes.
13:14Yes.
13:14You
