00:04I'm very excited about the time we're living in and how Qualcomm is contributing to the future
00:10era of technology. Our vision is intelligence everywhere. I think the best way to describe it
00:19is intelligence in your devices. That's what we call the edge. That's a smartphone, a computer,
00:26that's your glasses, it's your car as well as robotics and other kind of industrial devices.
00:36It's where the data is created at the edge but also in the data center. We call it hybrid AI
00:42and it's really an orchestration between intelligence at the edge and intelligence in the data center.
00:52Europe is very important for Qualcomm. We have been here for more than 35 years.
00:57We have R&D centers across Europe, whether in France, in Germany, in Sweden, in Ireland, in Spain, in Italy.
01:05Our platform that combines connectivity, high performance, low power compute and AI actually
01:13is relevant to all kind of industries. So we diversify the company. We partner with European industries,
01:20whether in automotive, in industrial, in energy or in robotics.
01:25We collaborate with leading institutions such as Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology,
01:33Politecnico di Milano, the University of Manchester and KAUST while also engaging with dynamic startup
01:40ecosystem. We are nurturing a new generation of engineers and entrepreneurs driving innovation
01:47at the intersection of 6G, AI and immersive technologies.
01:52We strongly believe that when a technology is so transformative, like AI and 6G, it needs to be based on
01:59partnerships.
02:00It needs to be based on open platforms and open ecosystems.
02:09Arduino is behind the largest open source community in the world for embedded systems.
02:15We are part of Qualcomm. We have millions of people using Arduino.
02:20Our development environment has been downloaded 36.7 million times last year.
02:28Distributed innovation means having anybody contributing to some form of knowledge.
02:36We have been always working in open source and this means community built on top of what we provide.
02:42And this is a massive democratization by lowering the barrier to entry to technology.
02:47We enable all sorts of people to be creative.
02:50People that have a problem and now they can just assemble their solution with a few clicks.
02:56What we aim is enabling anybody to be part of this transformation.
03:046G is not just a new generation of connectivity. It's connectivity but also distributed computing and sensing.
03:12We started thinking about 6G networks in the day that we launched the 5G networks.
03:18In Cork today we are working with a new spectrum that will come with 6G.
03:22Two years ago we started doing trials. We will deliver much more than high speed immersion experiences.
03:27New service that we haven't seen before.
03:326G transformed the network itself into a platform that perceives the physical world in real time.
03:39Beyond connecting devices, 6G creates new business opportunities from smart city management to industrial automation.
03:47A radio digital twin is a live virtual replica of the network.
03:52Fed by integrated sensing, they track and map vehicles, drones, pedestrian and infrastructure in real time without cameras or additional
04:02sensors.
04:04Everything is about bridging the gap between theory and the reality.
04:08We invest a lot on research, simulations, prototypes and field trials.
04:14And we are in close discussions with our R&D to develop and do research and simulation for the 6G
04:19systems.
04:20The reward is the system becomes much more intelligent and also has the huge potential to change people's life.
04:30I truly believe AI is local by nature, national, potentially regional.
04:36It understands our dialects, our thinking.
04:39So it has to be with the local culture.
04:41That's why I do believe that this transformation can only be beneficial if it's local.
04:48Europe is extremely well positioned in this transformation.
04:53I believe Europe should take bold decision around building the right AI and telecom infrastructure that's robust, that's highly efficient.
05:05It needs to apply AI and accelerate the application of AI across all these vertical industries.
05:14And finally, enable the capabilities of sovereign AI because users will be able to control their data, will be able
05:24to control their AI.
05:26Europe should have a framework of regulation that enables innovation but keep the ecosystems open.
05:33So you have big and small companies, startups participating, everybody creating innovation.
05:43What's the most exciting is working on forward-looking technology that are intended to make an impact on everyday life
05:53and also tackle some big challenges.
05:58I'm passionate about technology, so that is what we live in Qualcomm, what we need to solve today to make
06:04that reality.
06:05The future that I envision is a future where creativity doesn't come only from engineers or product people in companies,
06:13but anyone can contribute.
06:14We want a world where anybody can think about a problem, create a solution, so the applications are really, really,
06:22really countless.
06:23It helps you decide, it helps you reason, it helps you memorize, it helps you to act.
06:28That's why I'm very excited to be at Qualcomm and about our contribution to this transformation.
