00:00Captain of the Trinbago Knight Riders, Deandra Dutton, believes the luck is shifting in their direction for a few reasons
00:06as they work towards getting the formula right.
00:09I think what turned it around is the fact that we are actually hungry as players.
00:17I think we're actually playing really good cricket this time. I think probably last year we were trying to force
00:22a bit too much.
00:23But this year we're just actually letting it come to us. We're sticking to the basics and we're doing the
00:31one percenters right.
00:35And our plans are actually coming together and I really like how we are gelled. We have gelled together in
00:42such spaces supporting each other and enjoying each other's company.
00:46She believes it will be a great achievement if they could capture the title.
00:50That would be a really good feeling to be honest. Probably a feeling that you can't express.
00:56But to how we went last year, to come in now to be the first thing to qualify in the
01:02playoffs, you know, and going straight to the final.
01:05I mean like it's a really good feeling where all the emotions are actually flattering to be honest.
01:12Yeah, it would be really good when the time comes to lift the trophy.
01:17Captain of the Barbados Tridents, Haley Matthews, says they too have the objectives as they aim to reach the final
01:24again.
01:25I think as a group, obviously another milestone reaching that playoff stage.
01:32New format this year.
01:34But yeah, I think as a team, we want to go out there, be a part of that playoff match
01:41and hopefully win it and create history and becoming the only team to get into the finals every year.
01:45So we're looking forward to it. It's obviously going to be a really big game.
01:49We're playing against Guyana again, who just got the better of us in that first group stage match, in that
01:55third group stage match.
01:57But yeah, I think we're really looking forward to it and it's going to be a big game.
02:01It's going to be exciting. It's going to be fun, but it's also going to be a big challenge for
02:05us.
02:05She believes that they will need to adapt in high pressure situations as their players make adjustments on the go.
02:11I really think it's giving bowlers and batters the opportunity to, I guess, get ourselves in certain situations, learn to
02:17adapt without it costing us too much necessarily and still having the chance to be in the playoffs.
02:24So hopefully we can take those opportunities that we've learned from and use them wisely now when we go into
02:30these playoff matches if we do need them.
02:32Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Chloe Tryon also has her eyes on the playoffs.
02:37I think playing against Barbados, we obviously knew what is at stake. They've won the title like three years in
02:44a row now.
02:45We know the quality side that they do have. We probably didn't start the tournament the way we wanted to,
02:50but I think we're finding our groove in the right areas at the right moments.
02:56And yeah, we're just kind of putting up our hands. So we knew it was going to be a big
02:59win for us.
03:00So we knew we probably couldn't chase getting to the top of the log, but I think for us just
03:04getting that momentum going into a playoff was just so important for us.
03:07And yeah, get players in the right positive mind, which is really good.
03:11She also praised the approach of Shemin Campbell.
03:14Yeah, Shemin Campbell's been incredible. I've actually been watching her from the World Cup.
03:18You just see the step up in the game.
03:20It looks like she's really taking on the bowlers and she has really good, smart plans and the intent is
03:27there.
03:28So I've been watching her for quite a while now and she's, you know, she's just been doing so well.
03:32It's good to see her in that mindset.
03:34And yeah, she kind of just leads the middle, which is really good.
03:37You know, coming in, making sure that she's got good intent in rotating the strike, but also that she's got
03:41youngsters around her that she can kind of guide along the way as well, which helps a lot.
03:45So yeah, it's just great to see her growth from strength to strength from last year.
