05:41You can see the flap open on the rear of the car.
05:44This is one of the longest runs on the circuit where we will see plenty of overtaking.
05:49But it closes straight in.
05:512-4 then into this chicane under the Autopista.
05:55And then we head down once again.
05:57Big elevation change downhill followed by a huge elevation change uphill.
06:01The chicane that follows next.
06:035-6-7.
06:04And we have the 8-9 chicane.
06:06And then the corners just keep on coming as we head now to what is the most exciting part of
06:12this circuit.
06:12Round La Chicane.
06:14And then this is La Monumental.
06:17550 metres long.
06:1924% of gradient in banking.
06:22And 45,000 fans set to take their seats there when we go racing.
06:28What an excitement that will be for them.
06:31And then we head through 15 and heading now round 2, turn 16 and 17.
06:38And then it is through 08.
06:41And into turn 19 they will head next.
06:44You can just see this is the ART driver, Taito Kato,
06:49taking us now round to what will be the final sections of the circuit.
06:57Into turn 20 now.
07:00And out of 2021 we will head.
07:03And then down to the final 22nd corner at El Parque.
07:08This is it now.
07:09Coming through the 90 right and onto the start-finish straight we go.
07:13And this is the second DRS zone of the circuit.
07:16And that is a lap with Taito Kato on board with ART.
07:22Now some new faces to go through this weekend.
07:24Right in time.
07:25Niccolò McIgnani has never driven in the Formula 3 championship before.
07:30So jumps in at a very difficult time.
07:34Has to learn this circuit and learn the car at the same time.
07:38And one of the youngest drivers to ever race in Formula 3 has been racing in F4 this season.
07:44So makes quite the big jump up replacing Christian Ho.
07:48We also have two drivers who have withdrawn from racing this weekend.
07:53Ricciardo Escotto who has been withdrawn under medical grounds for an injury that he had in 2D circuit.
08:02And we also have the Downs-Lucas-Oil driver of Gerard Chi.
08:08What have been an incident last weekend.
08:09Another driver who has been withdrawn under medical grounds.
08:13So we are going to be a 28-car field this weekend rather than a 30-car field.
08:20On board we look there with Matteo Di Paolo.
08:24Thought he'd qualified on the front row last weekend.
08:27But that changed then after qualifying and had to go from the back of the field.
08:32If you weren't with us last weekend, let's do a bit of a recap of what happened.
08:36We had Nicola Lacorte taking the win in the feature race ahead of Tuca Tafanen.
08:42And then Taito Cato finished in third.
08:45We saw Taito Cato going round there.
08:47He took his first win in Formula 3 last weekend.
08:51And took two podiums as well.
08:54So you had two new winners to the championship last time out.
08:58Yevon David had a superb weekend.
09:00Two fourth-place finishes for him.
09:02Canato Lee finished fifth in the feature race.
09:04Then it was Hiyu Yamakoshi, Noah Stromstedt.
09:07Ugachuku getting four very valuable points.
09:10And then Enzo Deligny and James Wharton were next.
09:15And we can see James Wharton here.
09:17And not the best of qualifying for him.
09:19But he made up grounds throughout the races, particularly the sprint race.
09:26And then looking at the sprint race next that we have, which took place on the Saturday.
09:33Taito Cato, as I mentioned, won that one.
09:35Freddie Slater came from row six to finish in P2.
09:38And Hiyu Yamakoshi finished in third.
09:41Yevon David taking fourth place.
09:44So let's look once again at the standings.
09:47As I mentioned, it's Freddie Slater and Ugachuku who are split by 15 points.
09:52Now, how is the championship decided?
09:55Well, first of all, we go to the number of feature race wins that the drivers have.
10:00Currently, both Slater and Ugachuku have one feature race win each.
10:05However, Ugachuku has a sprint race win.
10:09Freddie Slater does not have a sprint race win.
10:12His only win of the season is just that one feature race.
10:15So if there are no wins for either drivers this weekend and they tie on points,
10:21Ugo Ugachuku will become the champion due to the fact that he has sprint race wins.
10:28And Freddie Slater does not.
10:30In terms of the team's championship, Campos Racing have 64 points over Trident.
10:38But there are more points available this weekend than what we would usually have.
10:4367 points available in the driver's championship and 150 points available for the team.
10:51So it could easily change.
10:53Here's a look on board round La Monumentale with Ugachuku, the American driver, trying to chase after that title into
11:0113 and 14.
11:03We go next and then heading up towards turn 15 now, which takes us all the way round to the
11:11next braking zone here.
11:12You can see it's a braking zone that comes with a corner as well.
11:1516 and 17, and then they head now through the very quick turn 18, where you've got to just do
11:22a dab on the brakes through there.
11:24And then round turn 19, a very quick corner.
11:27Quite deceptive, that one, before it's into the heavy braking zone once again at turn 20.
11:32A bit of a kink on the exit here.
11:34And then 21 is the penultimate corner of the track.
11:38And then it's a short dash down to turn 22, the final corner into the right hand.
11:44And you can see, similar to the last corner at Abu Dhabi, it's very easy to get dragged out wide
11:50through there.
11:51And then down the start, finish straight, where there will be one of the two DRS zones.
11:56There is an extra set of hard tyres for the drivers this weekend as well, due to the fact that
12:02we have that extra race.
12:03So two sets they will have.
12:07Tuka Tafanen, we're just looking at now, the MP driver.
12:12Good weekend for him, last time out, Tuka Tafanen.
12:15Tafanen getting on the podium for the first time this season, wasn't his first podium in Formula 3.
12:22Just as I was looking away at the screen, it looked like Tafanen made slight contact with the wall.
12:27Hasn't picked up any damage to his car, we'll find out.
12:31You can see also for Kramer, Powell back this weekend as well.
12:37The American driver who made his debut last weekend, taking the seat of Louis Sharp.
12:43So Alex Powell back with us, following the finish driver, Tafanen, out the final corner and down the start, finish
12:52straight.
12:52We head next.
12:55Have a look at what happened here in testing.
12:58Now, first of all, let's take a look at Tafanen.
13:01This is where he made contact with the wall.
13:04Oh, there you go.
13:05You can see that just slight contact with the wall.
13:09This is Fernando Barrichello, who is very close to hitting the wall himself there.
13:16317, Jose Garfias we look at next.
13:19A lock-up on the brakes.
13:20Now, whilst we did see Fernando Barrichello, one thing worth covering off is he's one of two drivers who's going
13:29to have a penalty this weekend, which will be carried over into the next feature race.
13:35So he was given a 10-second penalty, which he couldn't serve in the race.
13:39So he has a five-place grid drop after his incident with Wuxian Shin.
13:46So five-place grid drop for him in the first feature race.
13:50Likewise for Finn McLaughlin as well, who had contact with Nanda Wood Berenbakti at Turn 1.
13:58You may have seen that one in the highlights at the start.
14:01So he also has a five-place grid drop.
14:05Following here, the Audi Junior.
14:07That was announced at the start of this season that Freddie Slater would be part of the Audi F1 team
14:16as their first junior driver within racing Formula 2 and Formula 3.
14:23Let's watch a lap with him now and see what he can do.
14:26He spoke very highly of this circuit, giving it comparisons to the likes of Macau and Monaco as well, and
14:34said it's one of the best circuits he's ever driven.
14:38So he, along with many other drivers throughout the field, spoke very highly.
14:43Oh, big launch over the curve there for Slater.
14:47You can see briefly airborne, it looked like there.
14:50One of these chicanes where the drivers are almost forced to attack it to make sure they're carrying as much
14:57speed through there as possible.
15:00And Freddie Slater just taking a little bit too much at that point.
15:04Around La Monumental is one of the first videos that was shown off this circuit from fans, trying to get
15:12an eye on what was going on in F3 testing.
15:15He was around that corner there, watching Slater now coming through the next section of the circuit.
15:22The fastest time from the test that we had, the two-day test, was a 1.49.043.
15:31That was Ugachiku, who set that on the morning session on day two.
15:38Hiyu Yamakoshi was second, two tenths slower than Ugachiku.
15:43Enzo Deligny was P3 for Van Amersport Racing and was half a second back.
15:47So Ugachiku and Campos really got up to speed with the circuit quicker than anyone else.
15:53Ernesto Rivera was P4.
15:55Tapanen was P5, and you can see quickly starting to put some laps down.
16:01Ugachiku goes fastest by three-tenths of a second.
16:04Tapanen was P5.
16:05Del Pino was P6, looking to make it a home victory for the Spanish fans.
16:11And Spanish teams' drivers have a very good record with racing at home on home soil here, mostly at Barcelona,
16:20of course.
16:21Let's have a look at Freddie Slater.
16:23So this is coming into the chicane now, and you can see all four wheels over and absolutely launches over
16:28the curbs there.
16:29That's coming down to turn five and six.
16:34Would have felt that one, that's for sure.
16:36Almost got the wall on the exit there as well.
16:40Is this Tapanen doing something slightly similar?
16:43I think it might be.
16:47But Del Pino was P6, Yevon David was seventh, and it was Canato Lee, Taito Cato, Freddie Slater in a
16:54two-day test where Trident didn't really appear to show their full hand.
16:59And that wouldn't be the first time that they've done that in testing.
17:03Tent to wait for when we get to qualifying sessions and things like that.
17:09But Campus Racing already right up there.
17:13You can see three cars in the top ten.
17:16Inukachuku, Niall and Rivera as well.
17:20Just picking up the red bull junior now of Mattia Kulnagy next for MP.
17:29Mattia Kulnagy looking at his season so far.
17:32Currently sits in 13th in the second half of the season.
17:35He's really started to come on.
17:37He took four fourth-place finishes in a row, followed by a P6 at Monza.
17:43He wasn't in the points in the feature race, but you can see the confidence really still with him.
17:50And quite close between the top four, isn't it?
17:53Three-tenths between them.
17:54Ugechuku, Jin Nakamura, Tuka Tapanen, Mattia Kulnagy and Taito Cato.
18:00Then we have Taito's teammates here, Canato Lee.
18:05He's had some good results in recent rounds.
18:09He was on the podium at Hungary, and we also saw him finish P5 after a very good qualifying session.
18:18Canato Lee last time out finishing fifth place in the end there.
18:24So someone who could be one to watch perhaps this weekend.
18:29We saw him qualify P2 for the feature race at Monza.
18:40Well, this is a circuit where all the drivers have had the exact same amount of experience.
18:45Not just the drivers, but the teams as well.
18:48So it's going to be a real case of a race to who can get up to speed the quickest.
18:55And the track may fall slightly differently going around it this morning.
19:00They're almost sweeping up the circuit for when the rest of the field go on.
19:05Jumping on board once again with Taito Cato.
19:09But all the fans around the paddock, very excited to see how the racing plays out.
19:15There's been so much talk about this circuit coming on to the calendar, the Madring.
19:22And everyone incredibly excited for not just seeing the cars get round, but particularly when we go racing.
19:29And if you haven't been watching Formula 3 racing this season, we've had some real exciting showdowns throughout the year.
19:38On board with Taito Cato then coming over the start-finish line now.
19:43A short run it is to Turn 1.
19:46200 metres in length.
19:49Oogachika we pick up next, heading towards the end of the lap now into Turn 20.
19:55Very easy to clip the wall on the exit there before it's out of Turn 21.
20:01And down to the final corner now.
20:06Very unforgiving circuit, as you can see, out of the final corner, across the line.
20:10Oogachika may have gone slower through the final sector, but look at that.
20:14Half a second clear of the rest of the field.
20:17Remember, this is the driver.
20:1815 points back from championship leader Freddie Slater.
20:22There are 67 points available this weekend.
20:25But a response there from Freddie Slater.
20:27This may be practice, but this very big practice session, arguably the biggest for those two drivers.
20:34Let's have a look with Noah Strongstead now coming down to Turn 5.
20:40Right-hander coming in to that section.
20:43And then it's over that very quick chicane.
20:46Drivers take lots of speed through there because straightaway you go from climbing downhill to climbing back uphill again.
20:53There's Alex Powell, who joined us last time out.
20:58And I've got to say, put on a very good display here with Alex Powell in the top 20 in
21:05both races.
21:06Finished peak 14 in the feature race.
21:11So Alex Powell, a very good result for him.
21:14Noah Strongstead we look at next.
21:16We'll want to try and get his form back.
21:19It's slightly gone by his high standards now over the last couple of rounds.
21:25He's just had one visit to the points in the last two rounds.
21:28And that was a seventh place finish in the feature race last time out.
21:33Across the start line, he goes there.
21:36Here we can see Tafanen once again.
21:39Tafanen, currently P6 overall.
21:42Then we've got to Deligny, P7.
21:45Tearfield Nile in eighth.
21:46Matiakal, Nagy ninth.
21:48And then Finn McLaughlin with that penalty this weekend.
21:51P10 for him.
21:53Carto is 11th.
21:55Giusti is in P12.
21:57Now for the sprint race we do have this weekend,
22:00the top 12 from qualifying one will be reversed.
22:05So if that were to be the case now,
22:07then we have Giusti and Carto go to the front of the field.
22:12Yevon David yet to get a timing so far.
22:15Sits down at the back.
22:16But this is looking very good so far from Ugachuku.
22:20Showing his experience in his second season racing in Formula 3.
22:26Previous winner at McAwee has done a really good job.
22:29Ugachuku.
22:31Half a second almost clear of the rest of the field.
22:34So knows how to go well around these street circuits.
22:38There's a good chicken.
22:41And wants to become the first American Formula 3 champion.
22:46He won the McAul Grand Prix in 2024
22:49before jumping in to Formula 3 for his first season last year.
22:54And then won the Formula Regional Oceana Trophy
22:57at the start of the year as well.
23:00That wasn't his first single-seater championship to win.
23:03Across with McAul Grand Prix.
23:05He won the Euro 4 title in a very good season for him in 2023,
23:10where he took three championship podiums in one season.
23:15Right, looking at Pedro Claro around Le Monumento.
23:19Heading down to Turn 13 now.
23:21Once again, another corner where the drivers carry a lot of speed through there
23:25because Turn 14 next are very much easily flat out.
23:29And then it's a flat-out run before they head towards the braking zone at 16 and 17.
23:37With that one, the driver's just trying to take as much run-off as possible
23:41before the wall comes at you very quick.
23:43And you can see all four wheels over the inside.
23:47It looked like they're from Claro.
23:50One that might be monitored throughout the weekend.
23:53And we're just seeing him head towards the end of the lap now,
23:55the road in driver.
23:57And round here, drivers just trying to find themselves a little bit of space.
24:01It's a very long lap, the ladring.
24:05Pedro Claro makes his way over the line now.
24:08And so good to see Formula 3 cars going round at full speed.
24:13And all of us able to get our first look on board
24:15as we jump on board with Brando Badouer.
24:18And now he's put in some really good performances so far this season
24:23as Brando Badouer, the Italian driver,
24:26but remember taking the victory back at Monaco
24:31in the feature race earlier this season.
24:34He's made four visits to the podium throughout the season,
24:38including the very first race at Albert Park
24:41and then podiums for him at Spa and Hungary.
24:44He hasn't been able to get in the points as many times as he would have liked.
24:48But when he has been, he's most often been on the podium.
24:53Now, of course, we have that fight for the championship title.
24:55You can see they now go one and two.
24:58Whilst I was looking away there, Freddie Slater going fast.
25:00He's 150.453.
25:02So that a response to Ugachuku.
25:05Just under one and a half tenths between them.
25:08And that's something that Trident, Freddie Slater will be very pleased with.
25:12Like I said, they don't tend to show their hands sometimes at those tests.
25:16But Freddie Slater and Ugachuku were both the fastest drivers
25:20across all four sessions throughout the two days.
25:24And as I mentioned, Freddie Slater talked very highly of this circuit after that.
25:29Let's hear what he had to say about it coming into the weekend.
25:34I'm super excited.
25:35You know that we had a pre-season test or in-season test, let's call it,
25:39here in Madrid for the first time.
25:40We were one of the first people to drive it.
25:42And it's one of the most incredible tracks I've driven.
25:44It's probably one of my favorite on the calendar.
25:46So to have a finale here to fight for a championship is really special.
25:50And I can't wait for qualifying.
25:51You know, I think that's going to be the most exciting part of the weekend.
25:53Obviously, we have a bit of a sunset qualifying as well later in the day.
25:56So the track's going to be fast, which will be good fun.
25:59And no, I'm just ready for it and can't wait to execute.
26:03Great stuff to hear that from Freddie Slater, our championship leader.
26:07And as he mentioned, there is a long break for the drivers after this.
26:12We have free practice going on now.
26:15It's 20 past 10 local time in Madrid.
26:19But the qualifying sessions won't take place until the very end of play here today.
26:256.25 local time is when they'll be up for a 20-minute qualifying one session to set the grid
26:31for the first two races.
26:32And then qualifying two will take place at 6.55 local time.
26:37And currently, the top two championship, top two in the championship are one and two.
26:41And the two drivers who were quickest overall at the test as well in terms of the sessions.
26:49It was Ugachuku who ran fastest in both the morning sessions.
26:53And Slater who was quickest in both the afternoon sessions.
26:57Here's Niccolò Macagnani.
26:59I mean, he's got a huge test this weekend.
27:02And making his debut, he is one of the youngest drivers to race in this championship in its history.
27:11So has a lot to learn in terms of getting up to speed with the car and also the circuit
27:17as well.
27:18Finished fourth in the UAE 4 Series earlier this season.
27:22has been racing in the Italian F4 Championship with the Prima Racing Team 1 at the season opener at Mizano.
27:31But jumps into Formula 3 and taking advantage to get himself in the car before maybe we will see him
27:43back next season.
27:44Who knows?
27:45But yellow flags out somewhere around the circuit.
27:49Only briefly, though, it's been a clean session so far.
27:53Watching Pedro Claro here heading through.
27:58Currently up there in the top ten.
28:00Now, in terms of the championship fight away from the top two, we've given plenty of focus to them.
28:07Let's talk about what's going on behind that in the championship.
28:11Now, there is just one point between Ernesto Rivera and Teofil Niall.
28:15There is just five points that go down to seventh place in the championship.
28:21Hiyu Yamakoshi.
28:22Incredibly close.
28:2426 points, which is the amount of points you can score in one feature race if you are to win
28:33and take the fastest lap.
28:35There are just 26 points between Ernesto Rivera in third and Bruno Del Pino in P11.
28:41So, incredibly close between those drivers.
28:46So, in that fight, we have Ernesto Rivera, Teofil Niall, Brando Badouwer.
28:51Rivera on 76 points, Niall on 75.
28:54Then Teofil, the Brando Badouwer is on 71.
28:56As is Taito Kato.
28:58As is Hiyu Yamakoshi.
28:5965 points, then, is Noah Stromstedt.
29:0264 is Tapanen.
29:0454 is Maciej Guadish.
29:06And then Bruno Del Pino on 50 points.
29:10So, so close.
29:12And behind that, Klero on 48.
29:15So, he's just 28 points back from being third place in the championship.
29:20So, many drivers trying to catch that driver right in the middle of your screen there.
29:24Ernesto Rivera, currently is third in the championship.
29:28Made that jump up at the last round at Monza.
29:32But he's only one point ahead of his Campos Racing teammate, Teofil Niall.
29:38And Campos Racing currently 2, 3 and 4 in the Drivers' Championship.
29:42They just continue to keep getting faster and faster as we go through the seasons in Formula 3 here.
29:52Been incredibly good to watch of Campos Racing.
29:56And they were very good, as I mentioned, at that in-season test as well.
30:01Checking in with Bruno Del Pino in that championship fight.
30:06However, has found himself missing from the points.
30:10Since we got to Silverstone, it's been only one visit to the points for Bruno Del Pino,
30:18which came with a 10th place finish in the sprint race last time.
30:21So, this is the weekend, though, where he can really all make up for what's been a disappointing second half
30:27of the season.
30:28And started by taking the first win of the season, one of 13 drivers to take a victory this season.
30:36Then he had a podium at Monaco, but has not been able to get back to the podium since then.
30:44We'll be hoping to change that.
30:45He's going to have the crowd behind him this weekend.
30:48And Spanish drivers, Spanish teams, have very good form on home soil.
30:56Let's have a look at this replay first before I go into a little bit more detail of that.
31:00Hiyu Yamakoshi and then being delayed there.
31:03And that's one thing the drivers will be very much getting used to.
31:08And once again, Hiyu Yamakoshi, just if he already was an aggravator,
31:12then we've got even more so throughout that next corner.
31:16Now, Campos have taken four wins when we've been to Barcelona,
31:20including winning the feature race this season.
31:22And we've also had three Spanish drivers win on home soil.
31:27David Vidalis at the 2022 Barcelona sprint.
31:30Pepe Marti in the 2023 feature.
31:33Mari Boya in the 2024 sprint.
31:36So, you can see there was a bit of a pattern there
31:38that Bruno Del Pino will be looking to pick back up this weekend.
31:45Taito Carto once again getting very close to the walls.
31:49But so far, a clean session as we come towards the end of the lap now.
31:54Pedro Claro has gone purple through the first sector.
31:57Finn McLaughlin also on a good lap as well.
32:00And there he goes.
32:01He goes up to P4, the high-tech driver.
32:04And he's within four-tenths of a second.
32:06A good opportunity this could be for some drivers,
32:09maybe slightly down on experience to others
32:13in terms of revisiting circuits on a second season.
32:17This really puts all the field on a level playing field.
32:21No teams have any experience racing around this circuit.
32:25None in the whole pad, of course.
32:27No drivers have any experience.
32:29So, for one of the first times in this championship's history,
32:33we are on a complete level playing ground.
32:36And that's not something that usually happens.
32:39Sometimes when we head to a new circuit on the calendar,
32:42teams have had experience racing there in other championships,
32:46in similar championships,
32:47or others within the paddock as well.
32:50Absolutely not the case for anyone this weekend.
32:53So, we are going into the unknown in many ways.
32:55And that's that downhill chicane, isn't it?
32:59That's catching out a lot of drive, as you can see.
33:01Turning right on the approach into the corner
33:04can lead to a lock-up very easily
33:06on the outside run for a tyre there.
33:11Now, following Michael Shin,
33:14involved in a couple of incidents.
33:16And last time out,
33:17we've been hoping for a good end to the season there.
33:21There is also the element of
33:24there's plenty of drivers out there.
33:25We've talked a lot about championship
33:27in this practice session.
33:30I'm sure you now will very much know
33:33the score of that one,
33:34having gone through it a couple of times.
33:36But one thing that this does have,
33:39this season finale,
33:40is there is a slightly nothing-to-lose approach mentality
33:44for some of the drivers out there.
33:46It's their final race of the season in Formula 3.
33:50It's a first visit here for everyone,
33:53so this is a chance to make some history
33:55and go and become the first winner around this circuit.
33:59And if you're not worrying about a championship fight,
34:03then that can very much let a driver just go out
34:07and completely attack the weekend
34:09in ways they maybe didn't a little bit earlier in the season.
34:13And we've seen some results like that in the past
34:16where drivers have got to the final round
34:18and have almost taken all the pressure off themselves.
34:22And it just releases all the natural talent that they have
34:27and gives them the confidence to really go for it
34:30over the course of a weekend.
34:31And this, more like any other circuit,
34:34is one where you need to be driving with confidence
34:37around this circuit.
34:39You need to be attacking some of the corners.
34:42It's going to be an element of who takes the most risks
34:45throughout the weekend.
34:47Who can do that will be rewarded with the good results.
34:50Could that be the case for the likes of Tapanen?
34:53Got that first podium, not just for himself,
34:56but for the MP Motorsport team.
34:58A hard one to believe, I know,
34:59but MP Motorsport going without any podiums
35:03up until last time out.
35:06Tapanen brought that to an end,
35:09getting himself back on the podium.
35:11This is the run round Lamont.
35:12You meant out.
35:14Flat out, as you can hear,
35:16picking up a little bit of a toe
35:17from one of the road and drivers there,
35:19the car too,
35:20as we now head through the second half of the lap.
35:23Into 13 we go.
35:25And now around the flat out right hand at 14.
35:29Very quick left-hander we have next here,
35:33which happens in two parts,
35:35and then we come into the next braking zone there.
35:38And Taito Kato, currently quickest in this session,
35:41ahead of Slater, then Claro.
35:43Ugachuku is next,
35:45then McLaughlin, Tapanen, Badouair, DePaulo,
35:48and Nakamura with Kornagi just outside.
35:51Freddy Slater's going fastest, though.
35:53You can see that at the bottom of screen.
35:55Purple through the first sector.
35:57Ugachuku getting a personal best sector one.
36:01A little bit slower through the second sector.
36:02What's this going to be for Taito Kato?
36:05As he heads out the final corner,
36:07almost into the wall there.
36:08Kato comes over the line.
36:10Just a little bit slower.
36:12Right, let's go back on board then with Ugachuku.
36:15Into the final corner on the lap now.
36:18And Ugachuku, that looked a very good exit out of there.
36:20And it's going to be good enough
36:21to put him to the top of the times.
36:23150.268, his teammate Teofil Niall into the top ten as well.
36:29What about the Audi junior, Freddy Slater,
36:33looking to become champion this weekend?
36:35Leading the way by 15 points,
36:38but that could come down by four points
36:41throughout the qualifying sessions.
36:43Two points you are given for pole position.
36:45Out of the final corner now,
36:47Freddy Slater goes fastest by seven hundredths of a second.
36:50The championship showdown has already started
36:53in this practice session.
36:55Ugachuku was quickest,
36:57but only for a few seconds.
36:58And then Freddy Slater going quicker by seven hundredths.
37:02And what a lap that is.
37:03You can tell he's enjoying himself around this circuit.
37:07Claro within one tenth of a second.
37:09On a very long lap around the Madring here,
37:13we have less than a tenth between the top three drivers.
37:19Ugachuku getting ready for three races this weekend,
37:23as are the rest of the drivers in the paddock.
37:27Let's have a look at what they had to say about it
37:29coming into this weekend.
37:31It's going to be fun.
37:32I think the first time we've had this format,
37:34definitely going to be on track a little bit more.
37:37But I think it's just about keeping a fresh head.
37:40You know, it's going to be a long weekend.
37:42On track, you know, twice,
37:43both Saturday and, you know,
37:45also Friday double quality.
37:47So, yeah, just about keeping a cool head.
37:51And, yeah, being focused on every time we go.
37:55As Hugo mentioned there,
37:57brand new format for the drivers
37:59and the championship as well.
38:00We did, of course, have 2021
38:02where we had two sprint races.
38:04So, the championship has seen three races
38:07in a weekend before.
38:09But this is very much the first time
38:11that we have had two feature races.
38:14Sixty-seven points up for grabs.
38:17So, 15 points.
38:18All of a sudden, it doesn't seem like a lot
38:20between those top two.
38:22And they have two qualifying sessions as well
38:24for the first time.
38:27So, there's going to be lots of visits
38:28to the circuit for the drivers.
38:31Six in total over the course of the next three days.
38:35And you can see that is something
38:37that Hugo Chibri very much seemed excited about.
38:41And I think as fans of Formula 3,
38:45something we're all very excited about.
38:47We get to see them on track even more
38:49throughout the weekend.
38:52And they put on a great show, didn't they?
38:54Some of those races we had at Monza,
38:56arguably the best of the season.
38:59And to see a home winner as well
39:02in Nicola La Corte.
39:03What a day that was for him.
39:05What a day it was for the Italian fans.
39:07We'd go on to have three Italian winners
39:10in the paddock throughout that day alone
39:13with Nicola La Corte.
39:14And then we had an Italian driver winning
39:17in the Porsche Mobile 1 Super Cup as well
39:20before we would go on to see Kimi Antonelli
39:23with the Italian Grand Prix
39:25bringing Wynne back to that nation
39:29in terms of a home victory
39:31for the first time in many a year.
39:35Mattia Kornagi jumps up into the top ten
39:38on board with Kato here
39:41who's looking very quick.
39:43You can see what confidence he has
39:45taking two podiums in a weekend
39:47including a first win.
39:49And Taito Kato has unleashed
39:51even more confidence from him now
39:54heading into this weekend.
39:56I bet he couldn't wait to get back in the car
39:59once again.
39:59A great character around the paddock.
40:02Many people were happy to see
40:05Taito Kato get that success.
40:07Heading up to the final corner we go now.
40:10Short braking zone into here
40:11before we go on to one of two DRS zones
40:14and across the line.
40:15And that's the quickest time for Kato.
40:18149.936 ART.
40:20One of the most experienced teams out there
40:22and the experience of the teams
40:25could go a long way this weekend.
40:29In terms of first visits though
40:31any time we've had a first visit to a circuit
40:34there hasn't really been a pattern formed
40:36in terms of team success.
40:38Those first visit wins have been shared
40:40by Prima, Trident, Campos, Hitek, ART,
40:44Van Amersport, NMP.
40:46So you can see just how competitive the grid is.
40:50And that's why we've seen so many different winners
40:52throughout this season.
40:54A record-breaking 13.
40:56Pedro Flero we look at here
40:57just backing off is out on this lap
41:00as Noah Stromstead goes through.
41:02It's going quicker that time around.
41:07Into the final corner there
41:09in a moment for Noah Stromstead
41:11almost going straight into the wall
41:13having to back out of that one
41:14as he came through the final corner.
41:16Powell's going to pick up a bit of a toe
41:17in the background as he heads over the line.
41:20We're already into the final five minutes
41:22of the session.
41:23It's absolutely flown by
41:24by this Formula 3 practice session.
41:28Clero coming into pit lane.
41:31Let's have a look what happened
41:32to Maciej Gwadish.
41:34Knock up downhill.
41:38Taking a lot of curve.
41:39That's another pattern around this circuit.
41:43Got to attack the corners
41:44to get those good lap times in.
41:48Finn McLaughlin has just done
41:50a personal best set to one and two.
41:53The driver who graduated
41:54British F4 champion last year
41:57coming straight into Formula 3
41:59and now goes P4
42:01in this practice session.
42:03What a time from Finn McLaughlin.
42:06In terms of experience
42:07we're on a complete level playing field
42:09for the first time this season
42:11and for one of the first times ever
42:13in this championship.
42:16And Finn McLaughlin
42:17taking advantage of that
42:18to put himself into the top ten.
42:21This is a weekend
42:21where you could turn some heads
42:23as a driver in this championship.
42:25And we go from a Red Bull back driver
42:27to a Ferrari back driver
42:29in Tuka Tafanen as well.
42:31One breakthrough weekend like that
42:33can set you up for the next season
42:35and can really get some people
42:37looking at you as a driver.
42:39And that's one thing
42:40they all have to fight for
42:42championship aside.
42:44Tafanen we ride on board
42:45with next coming through
42:46the second half of the lap now.
42:49Ferrari back driver
42:51looking to get his first win
42:52of the season.
42:53Could that come for him this weekend?
42:55We saw him get pole
42:56at the Hungar ring.
42:58We saw him on the podium
42:59and Monza.
43:01So he's definitely been getting better
43:02and better as the season's gone on
43:04as have the MP team.
43:07Into turn 20.
43:09Now we head
43:13into the penultimate corner
43:14as Jin Nakamura
43:16now goes fastest
43:17by a tenth of a second.
43:18This is almost turning
43:19into a qualifying session
43:21right at the very end.
43:22The timing screen's lighting up.
43:24Tafanen fastest
43:25through the second sector.
43:26P6 overall though
43:27a little bit slower
43:28through the final sector.
43:30Freddy Slater
43:31on board with next
43:32Can he go quicker?
43:33He's a bit slower
43:34through the first sector.
43:35Personal best
43:36sector two
43:37sector three
43:39slower.
43:39We've got a yellow flag
43:40out there
43:41somewhere around the circuit
43:42but we're watching
43:43the Van Amersfield drivers
43:45for now
43:46head through
43:47the final corner
43:49across the start finish line.
43:50Del Pino 14th
43:52and Enzo Deligny
43:53goes to P3.
43:54Took a championship podium
43:56in Formula Regional
43:57last season
43:58on board with
43:59Taito Cato.
44:02Has looked very quick
44:03all the way
44:04throughout
44:04this session
44:06and the Japanese driver
44:08now beat his countryman.
44:09No
44:09because there is
44:10a red flag
44:11out.
44:12We had some drivers
44:13setting personal best
44:14and it's La Corte
44:16our winner
44:16from last time
44:18who appears to have
44:19had an incident
44:20a crash for Nicola
44:22La Corte.
44:23The dams driver
44:24has brought out
44:25the red flags
44:26around the circuit.
44:27Well
44:27it took until
44:29the final 30 seconds
44:32for this session
44:33to stop
44:33so
44:34a very successful
44:35practice session
44:36overall
44:36you'd have to say.
44:37Let's watch Nicola
44:38La Corte then
44:39and find out what happened.
44:40He's just about to
44:40have gone to
44:40La Monumentale
44:41there
44:42coming down
44:42through La Chacaine
44:43and heads
44:44into the barrier
44:45through the
44:46left-hander there
44:48and that shows you
44:50what one small mistake
44:51can do
44:51around this lap
44:52it can end your
44:53qualifying session
44:54it can end your race
44:55in an instant.
44:57It's an incredibly
44:58unforgiving circuit
44:59and Nicola La Corte
45:01would now jump out
45:03and that will be
45:04the session complete.
45:05So
45:06going quickest
45:07overall
45:09our front
45:10for high-tech
45:11is Jin Nakamura
45:13with a
45:141.49.835
45:16Taito Cato
45:18finishing
45:18second place
45:19Enzo De Ligny
45:20third
45:21Ugo Ugochicu
45:22makes it
45:22four different teams
45:23in the top
45:24four there
45:25High-Tech
45:26ART
45:27Van Ammasport
45:28and Campos
45:29Ernesto Rivera
45:30in P5
45:31Freddy Slater
45:32P6
45:32not a lot
45:33to choose
45:34between
45:34the top two
45:35in the championship
45:35there
45:36Finberg Lachlan
45:37incredibly impressive
45:38seventh place
45:39Tapanen
45:40eighth
45:40Claro
45:41ninth
45:41De Paolo
45:42completes
45:43the top
45:43ten
45:44four and a half
45:45tenths
45:45between the top
45:46nine drivers
45:47there
45:47but
45:47Jin Nakamura
45:48for high-tech
45:49going quickest
45:50we've seen him
45:51have success
45:52this season
45:54Jin Nakamura
45:55taking a win
45:57back at Spa
45:58earlier this season
46:00so he's no stranger
46:02to the top step
46:03of the podium
46:04he was also
46:05on the podium
46:06at the Red Bull
46:06ring
46:07as well
46:09but that's a
46:10very impressive
46:11lap for him
46:12overall
46:14Taito Cato
46:17as I mentioned
46:18a great character
46:19around the paddock
46:21and we were
46:22certainly all
46:22watching him
46:23in that session
46:24as well
46:24just one tenth
46:25back from
46:26Jin Nakamura
46:26and Deligny
46:28Ugachuku
46:28Rivera
46:30Slater
46:30McLaughlin
46:31Tapanen
46:31Claro
46:32and De Paolo
46:33Kulnagi
46:34and GSD
46:35in the top 12
46:36and that'll be
46:36a crucial thing
46:37particularly come
46:38qualifying one
46:38a little bit
46:39later on
46:40Teofield
46:41Nile

46:46and Niccolo
46:47Maccagnani
46:48wasn't left
46:49at the back
46:4925th place
46:51but not far
46:52away from
46:53some of the
46:53drivers around
46:54him
46:54so
46:55has jumped
46:55straight in
46:56and immediately
46:57got up to
46:58speed
46:58clearly
47:00Malukachuku
47:01I think
47:01overall
47:02will be
47:02pretty happy
47:02with that
47:03session
47:04fourth place
47:05for him
47:06championship
47:07wise
47:07doesn't have
47:07to worry
47:08about those
47:08three drivers
47:09ahead
47:09for him
47:10it's just
47:10a case
47:10of beating
47:11Freddie Slater
47:11this weekend
47:13closing down
47:14that 15 point
47:15deficit
47:16that they have
47:18Freddie Slater
47:19once again
47:20it will be
47:21a case
47:21of just
47:22getting in
47:22that top

47:29session
47:29as well
47:29we've just
47:30seen
47:30from Nicola
47:31Lacorte
47:32there
47:32how easy
47:33it is
47:33to end
47:34a qualifying
47:35session
47:36and a race
47:37in a complete
47:38incident
47:38and with such
