00:00Some very interesting news and notes that are coming out of the NFL.
00:04A couple of stories that you may not have heard.
00:06Number one, anybody realize that Brock Bowers was having surgery
00:11and wouldn't be available maybe early on in the season?
00:15Because I know a couple of guys that drafted him in their leagues
00:18and is like, you've got to be kidding me.
00:19What do you mean Brock Bowers is not going to be here for the Raiders?
00:23But I do think Myers, the backup tight end, is against Miami.
00:27I still think we're safe there for the Raiders.
00:29And it is official.
00:31Carson Wentz is your backup quarterback in Minnesota.
00:34It is not J.J. McCarthy.
00:36It is Carson Wentz, the number two QB.
00:39Let's face it, you and I both know, Tom.
00:42Yeah, Murray is getting hurt at some particular point in the game.
00:45Maybe sooner rather than later.
00:47It could be the Carson Wentz show in Minnesota,
00:50which might make it very difficult for me to like their win total over at this point.
00:56I do not have a lot of hope for the Vikings.
01:01They play in a very tough division where conceivably those three teams,
01:06in the other three teams, the Lions, the Packers, and the Bears,
01:09could all be making the playoffs.
01:11That is six very tough games that they're going to have to play.
01:14The uncertainty at quarterback, the offensive inefficiency that we saw last year
01:20is still kind of there under the surface.
01:23Can Murray remedy that, you know, in the short term?
01:26Sure.
01:26But if he gets hurt or when he gets hurt, we're going to see Carson Wentz.
01:30How does that change their game plan?
01:31They have two okay-ish running backs.
01:34Their defense was not good last year.
01:35There's a lot of things that need to go right for the Vikings just to be back in the playoff
01:40picture.
01:40It's not just like, oh, they have to have one of these things,
01:42and then they'll all of a sudden be back in the playoffs.
01:45The Vikings could be in for a very long season.
01:47I also think, you know, on the good side of things,
01:50the Vikings could be in the playoff mix.
01:52If their defense really does return and Murray can be some of a game manager
01:56and just not make mistakes, they could be in the playoff mix at the end of December.
02:01Yep.
02:02It's very possible.
02:03You're absolutely right.
02:05But they need a lot of things to break their way here.
02:08And most importantly, if you're a quarterback whisperer, we saw the guy tonight, Sam Donald.
02:14Let's not forget he was a New York Jet first, but that's a different story.
02:18But he was a Minnesota Viking and got himself a pretty good scenario and a ring
02:25because he landed in Minnesota at some point.
02:29So if he's as good a quarterback whisperer as we think he is,
02:34well, then I think Kyla Murray, as long as he puts the effort in, might be okay with Minnesota.
02:39But we're going to see.
02:41The Brock Bowers thing, I don't think they skip a step, the Raiders.
02:44It would be great to have him on the field.
02:46But I don't think against Miami, I think Myers is more than capable,
02:51with Kurt Cousins under center, of doing a great job and being that safety blanket for Cousins.
02:57I think he's going to have a monster day one way or the other.
03:01My question is, when you go under the knife like this, are we sure it's just one or two games?
03:06Like, how long is it going to be, Tom?
03:08That's a great question, because last year he had the PCL injury that was kind of lingering throughout the season.
03:14And like you said, in the short term against Miami, you know, you like to know the injury clarity on
03:20Ashton Jente.
03:21But it really just comes down to Trey Tucker, Jalen Naylor, Michael Mayer, like those guys stepping up to, you
03:27know, do their part.
03:28Everyone chips in a little bit here or there, and they can probably get past Miami with the win.
03:32But it really comes down to, is this going to linger?
03:34And also, is the Jente injury going to linger?
03:37Because they have a very tough start to the season.
03:40They could be looking at one and six or two and five.
