00:32C-Rock is seen among others going to play today and try to get one last look in before that
00:38finale next week as we check in downstairs with Patty Cesarini. Hi Patty.
00:43Hey Jason, Drew Scruggs was originally battling for that left guard position but as TJ mentioned earlier with Cade Mays
00:51now being out with an injury, Scruggs will have to step in and compete at center.
00:55And he's played center before both professionally and collegially throughout his career but right now it is all about the
01:02reps. Head coach Dan Campbell said it's really just about him getting up to speed with golf and some of
01:07our calls and being on the same page with the guards.
01:10And by the way, this move to center was no surprise to Scruggs. He had a conversation with offensive line
01:15coach Hank Fraley when he first got here and he told him then that he'd potentially play multiple positions on
01:20this offensive line.
01:24Well, and that's what you need to do for Dan Campbell, right? And this entire group Dave fifth is part
01:30of that to the special teams coach.
01:32You have to be able to contribute in multiple ways to make this roster very likely on the back end
01:39of it. Yeah, and it's a very competitive roster.
01:41We know that Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes. We spoke with him last week on the broadcast said this is
01:45the best they felt top to bottom.
01:47I think in the in the six years now that they've been here and if you're one of those guys
01:50that's battling and look it's not only for a spot on this team Jason.
01:54There's we always know in preseason. There's 31 other teams watching this film. So the more you can do the
01:58more versatility you can have that's going to add value.
02:01It's going to keep guys like that. It's going to be hard to keep them off the roster. Here we
02:06go. Preseason game number two and Tom Kennedy back to receive the kickoff for the Lions.
02:13Washington won the toss and deferred and the Lions will set up shop from the 24.
02:18So the ninth year man out of Tennessee who Dan Campbell said they've they've always loved watching him from afar
02:25when he's been in other places in part with Drew Petsing the offensive coordinator for the Lions.
02:32Josh jobs a cerebral quarterback who's got a lot of time under his belt in this league.
02:36He's got experience and you don't just wake up and roll out of bed and play 10 years in this
02:39league especially at the quarterback position unless you know what you're doing.
02:42So we obviously to note know today is going to be a lot of vanilla things probably play actions three
02:46step drops but just fun execute the offense that Drew Petsing wants to call behind an offensive line that has
02:53a handful of starters.
02:54We won't see Panay Sewell but we will see quite a bit of a starting offensive line as sailors on
03:00the carry there.
03:01There is juice Scruggs our players to watch brought to you by MGM Grand TJ and they're looking for a
03:06starting center.
03:06We obviously know Kate Mays is going to be out for a couple weeks probably into the middle of October.
03:11So juice Scruggs getting the first snaps here with the starting offense and then Christian Mahogany another guy that is
03:16in a position battle at that left guard spot.
03:18The coaches say hey we want him to be the guy we just need to see a little bit more
03:21consistency.
03:22So great opportunity for these two guys to show what their coaches what they can do play action flag down
03:27and dogs gets leveled.
03:29He loses the football.
03:30It's down on the ground rolling into the end zone and it's batted around and it looks like picked up
03:36by Washington for a touchdown commanders.
03:42Amik Robertson knocked it free and Joshua Joseph's got on top of it for the score.
03:47We'll check the marker.
03:49Yeah and it's going to be on the Lions so that's going to stand.
03:52It looked like either legal formation.
04:05The offensive line here sees a big hit on dogs.
04:13Yeah and that just can't happen.
04:14I don't know if that was a miscommunication.
04:16First of all you can't line up incorrectly if you're I'm not sure who they called it on either a
04:21wide receiver or the tight end but that's going to drive coaches crazy.
04:24Alignment is always the first key and then certainly the protection not good.
04:28That was our key to the game.
04:30Jason number one ball security turn the ball over sack fumble touchdown.
04:35That's a tough way to start a game.
04:38Campbell's not going to be happy with that penalty either.
04:40Not at all.
04:41I mean 51 seconds in.
04:43I mean that's the thing about these preseason games though.
04:46You learn right.
04:48You learn.
04:49You fix it or you don't.
04:51And if you don't you're probably not going to.
04:54Whoever you know.
04:54You got to learn fast.
04:56Get evaluated positively which leads to decision time in a week plus.
05:01Extra point for Drew Stevens is good.
05:04It is seven nothing.
05:06Dan Campbell trying to figure out what happened.
05:08Yeah.
05:08He's frustrated because especially on the second play of the game I mean you go over.
05:12I know you don't spend the entire week in the preseason game planning and breaking down the opponent.
05:19And hey we really want to focus on.
05:21We can we can expose them in these areas.
05:23It's more about yourself.
05:24But with that being said.
05:25The first usually 10 to 12 plays are going to be scripted.
05:29You go through walkthroughs.
05:30You sit in meetings.
05:31You talk about.
05:32Hey where do we have to be alignment execution.
05:35To have not only an alignment issue on the second play of the game.
05:37I guarantee that's what he's most upset about right now.
05:40And then.
05:40Obviously with the sack fumble.
05:42Look turnovers going to happen.
05:44Devastating ones.
05:45Where where turns into seven points for the other team.
05:48Are the ones that are really going to hurt you.
05:50Obviously.
05:51For sure.
05:52You know turnover margin can fluctuate year to year.
05:55You saw what the Bears did.
05:56And how successful that made them.
05:59Yep.
05:59Last year.
06:00But it's why you isolated that as a main point to watch today.
06:04Because it's a signal of other things.
06:05It could be the key to the game every single time you take the field.
06:09Turnover battles.
06:09That's the number one things that.
06:11Every coach is going to talk about.
06:13When you hit that meeting room on Monday or Wednesday.
06:15Who took care of the football.
06:16Who took it away.
06:17That normally determine who's going to win most of the time.
06:20Tom Kennedy to the 28.
06:22All right.
06:23Rerack it.
06:23Here we go.
06:24If you're on the offensive line here.
06:26After that start.
06:27Where does your mind have to be TJ.
06:29Well we got to be.
06:30We got to communicate a little bit better.
06:31I don't think there was a blown assignment.
06:33So to say on that last play.
06:34It's just maybe some guys.
06:36You know losing an edge.
06:37And getting beat one on one.
06:38But it's got to be.
06:39Okay guys.
06:40Sharpen up now.
06:41Okay.
06:41This is real.
06:42This is not practice.
06:43Right.
06:44And for a lot of these guys.
06:45It's their first snaps getting.
06:47In a year.
06:48Right.
06:48You know.
06:48You look at Tate Rattledge.
06:49And Juice Scruggs.
06:50These guys didn't play last week.
06:51So.
06:52It's got to be a little bit of a wake up.
06:54We got to get going.
06:55Dobbs on the roll.
06:56He will throw.
06:57And he's got his first completion.
06:59To the sideline.
07:01It is.
07:02Right.
07:02Tight end.
07:05And just.
07:05I like Drew Petson coming back.
07:06With a play action pass.
07:07A little.
07:08A little counter pull.
07:09Pulled the right guard.
07:10Tate Rattledge out.
07:11Show those linebackers a little bit of action.
07:13Trying to slow their eyes down.
07:14And.
07:14Good to see Brock Wright healthy again too.
07:16I know they're going to count on him a lot.
07:17They.
07:18They really missed his.
07:19His blocking ability.
07:20When he got injured.
07:21In the second half of the season.
07:22Last year.
07:2370 career catches.
07:25Certainly the blocking.
07:26As well.
07:27As sailors.
07:28On the run.
07:29On second down.
07:30To the second level.
07:31Driving the pile.
07:32And he will be about a yard short of that first down marker.
07:35Based on the far side official.
07:38This offensive line.
07:39Talking to Dan Campbell.
07:40About Rattledge in his second year.
07:43Blake Miller.
07:44Who he feels like.
07:45Had no choice.
07:46But to get better against.
07:48Over and over and over again.
07:50That's a tough battle.
07:51When you're going.
07:51Against a guy like.
07:52Aiden Hutchinson.
07:53I had to do it.
07:54Early in my career.
07:55Going against guys.
07:56Like you know.
07:56Clay Matthews.
07:57And Aaron Campman.
07:58Who was.
07:58An incredible defensive end.
08:00And.
08:00They're just valuable reps.
08:01You can't get too high.
08:02You can't get too low.
08:03But he said he loves Blake Miller.
08:05Ability to rebound.
08:06After.
08:07Maybe a bad snap.
08:07Or maybe.
08:08Or maybe a bad play.
08:09Or maybe a bad.
08:09Bad series.
08:14Just a little QB sneak.
08:15You like.
08:15Wake him up a little bit.
08:16Yeah.
08:16Wake him up a little bit.
08:17Let's go.
08:17Because that's a play.
08:18As an offensive lineman.
08:19You just tee off.
08:21You hear the.
08:21Once the quarterback gets under center.
08:23And you hear that one code word.
08:25Whatever it is man.
08:26You were just flying off that ball.
08:27So.
08:27So.
08:28It's kind of a wake up.
08:29Point a little bit.
08:30Where you can't avoid contact.
08:32On those quarterback sneaks.
08:33For the receivers too.
08:34Isaac Tesla was engaged in his block phone.
08:36Two seconds.
08:37After the play there.
08:39As well as Jabari Small.
08:40The.
08:41Former Tennessee volunteer.
08:43Gets the carry out of.
08:44Lovely Memphis.
08:45Down in Tennessee.
08:46As.
08:47You know.
08:47We know about Jameer Gibbs.
08:49Isaiah Pacheco is still dealing with the injury.
08:52But there is some room in the running back.
08:54Area.
08:55For who's going to be that three.
08:57No doubt.
08:57And Jake.
08:58Jacob sailors was a guy that impressed enough last training camp.
09:01To earn himself a spot on this team.
09:03And.
09:03You're going to need three guys.
09:05You're going to need maybe four or five guys.
09:06We've seen that the last couple years.
09:07I know Craig Reynolds is no longer here.
09:09But.
09:09You know.
09:10He's a guy that they relied on.
09:11In the last couple years.
09:12To pick up some of those snaps.
09:13When you're.
09:13When your top two guys start to wear out.
09:16Dogs.
09:17Down the middle.
09:17A little too much.
09:18For Tame Martin.
09:19Who's opened some eyes.
09:20In training camps.
09:21And it'll be third down.
09:23For the Lions.
09:25I couldn't tell if that was maybe rushed.
09:28Or maybe Tame Martin.
09:30Oh man.
09:31Yeah.
09:31I think he.
09:32Yeah.
09:32If he's going to watch that replay.
09:33If you want to nitpick.
09:34Looked like he ducked a little bit.
09:36Sometimes.
09:36But.
09:36You know.
09:37That's a dangerous area of the field.
09:39Uh huh.
09:39When you hear those safeties coming down.
09:40I think that's one that Tame Martin's probably going to look back and say.
09:43Hey.
09:43I gotta go make a play for my quarterback.
09:45Especially if you're trying to draw attention.
09:48In a training camp.
09:49It's third down.
09:51And six.
09:54Washington.
09:55Brings four.
09:56Line holds up.
09:57Dobbs on the roll.
09:58He sets throws across his body.
10:00It is intercepted.
10:02Picked off to midfield.
10:04By Quan Martin.
10:07Man.
10:08It feels like 24 again.
10:10He had that pick six.
10:11Yeah.
10:12Two years ago.
10:13Last time they were here.
10:15Yeah.
10:15And let's take a look at it.
10:16I thought the initial protection was pretty good.
10:18Pretty solid.
10:19Josh Dobbs didn't see his first read open.
10:22That's dangerous when you throw a weight across the middle.
10:27Here's your table.
10:28Thank you.
10:29That's good.
10:30Great driving.
10:31Deserves great rates.
10:33Switch to Kirano Insurance to save today.
10:38He didn't do the voice.
10:40Brought to you by.
10:41There we go.
10:41That's better.
10:42Toronto.
10:43Here we go.
10:43Derek Moore.
10:44DJ Wanam.
10:45Tyleek Williams.
10:46Getting some reps.
10:46Along with Levi Onzerike.
10:48He can do himself a lot of favors by showing up today and having some nice plays on that
10:53defensive line.
10:54And they will face the starting quarterback for the Commanders.
10:57Good old number five Jayden Daniels from midfield.
11:01Former Heisman Trophy winner.
11:03Rolls to his right and throws under pressure.
11:06He had to bail and get rid of it.
11:08Devin White was closest to him.
11:12Yeah.
11:12Nice little pressure there.
11:14Devin White.
11:15Gonna come on the inside.
11:16Derek Moore.
11:17Look at those.
11:17Like the bull rush there.
11:19Right.
11:19Claps the pocket.
11:20Don't give Jayden Daniels.
11:21It's so tricky to brush against quarterbacks like this.
11:24Because you know if you make one wrong move.
11:25And you let up that edge.
11:27You let up that contain.
11:28He can really hurt you with his feet.
11:29I love the pressure there from.
11:30From Kelvin Shepard sending Devin White right through the A-gap.
11:33To really not give Jayden Daniels any options.
11:38Eighth year man out of LSU.
11:40Devin White.
11:41A veteran in this league.
11:43Former fifth overall pick by Tampa Bay.
11:47Play action for Daniels.
11:48Under pressure again.
11:49He is swallowed up all the way back at the 39 yard line.
11:55D.J. Wanham crashed in.
11:59That's a heck of an awareness play from D.J. Wanham on the backside.
12:02He's not going to bite on the play action.
12:04He finds a little crease there.
12:06Beats the tight end.
12:07And that's what you have to do as a defensive end in this league.
12:09If you want to be a big time player and put a lot of respect on your name.
12:12You have to absolutely refuse to be blocked one-on-one by a tight end.
12:16That's a matchup that you love.
12:18Great recognition there from D.J. Wanham on the backside.
12:21Also a little pressure coming from the edge as well.
12:24To force Washington into a really third and long situation here.
12:28Thirty career sacks for D.J. Wanham.
12:30There is a pedigree there as they will run it.
12:34Catron Allen.
12:35The former Nittany Lion will get some of it back.
12:37Back to the original line of scrimmage.
12:39Plus a yard.
12:41All right.
12:41I mean it's football season so I'm supposed to ask you decision time.
12:45Are you going for it?
12:47Not on fourth and I think it's nine.
12:50Maybe just ten.
12:51Call it a nine and a half.
12:52But no I think well if you're Washington if this is regular season.
12:56You think you're feeling pretty good about your defense right now.
12:58With two takeaways.
13:00For sure.
13:00In seven plays I think it is.
13:02I just haven't gotten to ask somebody that in a while.
13:04Are you going for it?
13:05If I ask Andy Dirks that he'll look at me very confused.
13:08He'd be a little bit shocked.
13:09Uh huh.
13:10Tress away.
13:11The three time pro bowler to boot it away.
13:15For Kennedy off a fair catch at the ten.
13:18It's a thirty nine yard punt.
13:19No return.
13:20D.J. Wanham drives the commanders back in the Lions.
13:23We'll have it after this.
13:24It's already been excited to see the Lions there this year.
13:28A lot of fans are going to have fun on that trip.
13:33It's something going here on offense.
13:35Josh Dobbs will hand it off for Jabari Small who breaks a tackle.
13:39And drives forward to the twenty one yard line.
13:43They rip the ball late.
13:44It was a missed tackle by Leo Chennau who just came over from Kansas City.
13:49And nice job by Blake Miller on the back side there digging out the four technique.
13:53It's really hard sometimes to run on a three four defense between the tackles just because there's so many bodies
13:59in there.
14:00You have to funnel it to the to the middle linebackers.
14:02But the double teams are so important and you're always going to have a one on one on whether it's
14:06front side or backside.
14:07That time really nice job by Blake Miller still not assuming off that defensive tackle in the back.
14:11They'll run to his side again.
14:12He played three thousand seven hundred and seventy eight snaps at Clemson.
14:18That's a Tigers record all time.
14:20He also didn't miss a game in four years of high school football.
14:24So he's a rookie.
14:26But he plays all the time.
14:28Yeah, well, that's that's a that's good for really two reasons is you can stay healthy, right?
14:33If you're playing that that much football and second of all the experience that comes with it and to be
14:37able to play right tackle.
14:38Look, especially in high school and college, a lot of the top guys play left tackle, but for Blake to
14:42be that right tackle and still be the caliber of player he is.
14:45I know they're super excited with what they've seen from him throughout the first couple of weeks of training camp.
14:51A lot of empty dobs to throw a quick set.
14:54Got it complete to the twenty six and it'll set up third down once again.
14:59Cedric Wilson jr.
15:01There the draft class Miller number one.
15:04We've talked about Derek Moore.
15:06Schuyler Gill Howard, the sixth round pick out of Texas Tech, has drawn some rave reviews from Dan Campbell.
15:12You can't go a day without Dan Campbell mentioning Schuyler Gill Howard and the effort that he plays with.
15:18And not only in practice, but preseason.
15:20He said the favorite play he had against against Cincinnati last week.
15:24I'm sorry.
15:24It was Schuyler Gill Howard chasing down the quarterback on the third down to force a point and get the
15:29ball back to his offense.
15:30He's a guy that's creating a lot of rave reviews.
15:31Nice catch.
15:32Good blocking up front to Wilson again.
15:36The former Boise State Bronco a gain of 17 at Alliance first down.
15:42And you mentioned that Jason starts with the protection.
15:44Josh Dobbs, he knows he's got a one on one with his guys all across the board.
15:48Finds Wilson across the middle.
15:50Really nice job by Josh Dobbs.
15:51I know we can frazzle a lot of quarterbacks where, hey, sack, fumble, touchdown.
15:55Then you come back and it's interception.
15:57Okay, there's nothing we can do about that.
15:58Put it behind you.
15:59How can you rebound?
16:00How can you keep moving this thing forward?
16:02That's a really good job by Josh Dobbs and just staying in that pocket and delivering a good football for
16:07a big conversion.
16:09Man, that was an attempt at a pickup of a blitz by Sailor.
16:13He got blown up.
16:14Yeah, I don't know.
16:15Like that.
16:16Somebody's down.
16:16It looks.
16:18Wilson.
16:18Get up.
16:19Wilson is hobbling off.
16:21Cedric Wilson, who just had the 17-yard catch for a first down.
16:25Now.
16:27Boy, I'm not sure if Sailors really saw this pressure from the edge, but he does what he has to
16:32do.
16:32And, man, that happens to the best.
16:36That happens to the best.
16:37But you know what?
16:38He slowed him down a little bit.
16:39He didn't draw a holding call and hurt the team even more.
16:42And it's going to be a play that you're going to chuckle at when you see it tomorrow.
16:47But it happens to everybody.
16:48Put your body to everybody.
16:49At least you put your body here.
16:51Get in the way.
16:51Get in the way.
16:52That was Tyler Owens who got into Sailors.
16:59And it's never fun when that happens, but it happens to everybody.
17:02You're laughing because you know that it's happened to me a ton.
17:06Sailors, little sidestep, and right back at it.
17:09After that play, he picks up seven and sets up a third down and three.
17:14And just a little nice dual play, just running right between the tackles.
17:18And you've got to hold up on those one-on-ones if you're on that offensive line.
17:22At that time, Blake Miller actually fell down.
17:24But the awareness to pop up and still finish the block is what allowed Sailors to hit that backside cut
17:31to gain some positive yards to set up a very manageable third down here.
17:35It's all those snaps he's taken, Miller.
17:38A lot of experience.
17:40Third and three off the mesh.
17:42It is docked.
17:43He carves the lane, and he is out of here.
17:54There you go.
17:59There you go.
18:00A little creativity there on third down.
18:02A little read option.
18:04Going back to college days.
18:06Defensive end bites down.
18:07Josh Dobbs says, I'll take a great job blocking on the outside, too.
18:10I couldn't tell who the wide receivers were, but those plays like that don't happen unless you can get that
18:14blocking on that second level.
18:16That's a good bounce back, Jason.
18:17That's a very good bounce back for this offense.
18:19A bad start to the game.
18:20First five minutes.
18:21Hey, you want to throw those away.
18:23But, hey, we've got to still pay.
18:24We've got to keep playing.
18:25We've got to find a way to get some momentum.
18:26And sometimes plays like that, well, I know for sure, plays like that are going to wake not only that
18:30offense up, but that entire sideline.
18:32That's a good time.
18:33That's big time play.
18:35That's the veteran leadership, but also the intelligence of Josh Dobbs.
18:39They call him the Pastronaut because of his astronaut aeronautical history and his major in college.
18:47But Dan Campbell loves how cerebral he is.
18:51We saw a read option last week on the two-point conversion with Luke Altmeyer.
18:56We get a little read option with Josh Dobbs.
18:58Think we're going to see much of Jared Goff this year?
19:00We'll see.
19:04Turnovers, never how you want to start a game, but you've got to keep playing.
19:07You've got to find a way to get that momentum, and that's a big scoring drive there to even this
19:10thing up early.
19:11Here's Craig Reynolds, our old friend.
19:13Back to the touchdown and the blocking as we do get a marker in here.
19:17So we will show you the touchdown in mere moments after this call, which I'm sure you're waiting with bated
19:23breath for.
19:25I guess blocking the back and looking.
19:30Dangerous guessing penalties.
19:31There are so many of them.
19:32Ah, but it's blocking the back of everybody.
19:34I'll do a 50-50.
19:41You had it.
19:43Avery in the hill with the call.
19:45All right, the blocking on the touchdown, TJ.
19:47Yeah.
19:48And we mentioned these big plays don't happen unless you get the blocking on the outside.
19:52Tyler Conklin, Tay Martin on the edge.
19:54Pause it here.
19:54Look at these two guys staying in front of their man.
19:57And what I love the most is once you feel the quarterback gets bite, let go.
20:01Right?
20:01Don't draw a cheap holding call.
20:03Get out there on the edge.
20:03You have to feel that presence of, okay, I see the defender's body start to shift.
20:08His eyes start to shift.
20:09I know the quarterback's got to be close to me, let go of the hands.
20:11But blocks like that are where you get those big plays from.
20:14Great job.
20:15Sam Hartman and a quarterback for Washington.
20:18He'll hand to Catron Allen, so one series for Jayden Daniels.
20:21But on the subject of Tay Martin, Dan Campbell brought him up as one of the guys who has stood
20:28out, especially on the edge blocking, especially as a possibility in a special teams role like
20:36that as well.
20:36Yeah, and they love his frame, too.
20:38It's 6'3".
20:38He's got some size.
20:39He can make some plays, you know, one-on-one, go get those 50-50 balls.
20:43And coach mentioned him a couple times yesterday when we spoke to him about guys that have stood
20:49out, and he's got a great chance to have a good game here today and keep building that resume
20:54when you're trying to make this roster.
20:55Third and short, your players to watch brought to you by MGM Grand.
21:00Yeah, no surprise.
21:01Derek Moore, second-round pick.
21:02Didn't get to see him last week.
21:03Everybody's been a question for a couple years now.
21:06Hey, what is it?
21:06What does that defense in that position look like outside of Aiden Hutchinson?
21:10Excited to see him.
21:11And then, obviously, Rocky C.
21:12They're going to count on him big.
21:13A lot of change in parts in that secondary.
21:15He had a really solid year last year, I felt like, on that outside spot.
21:19He's a guy that can bring some versatility and some competitiveness to that secondary
21:22group.
21:23Moore breathing fire at the bottom of the formation.
21:28And here is Hartman on the run.
21:30He has a lane, and he slides to his stop.
21:32The former Wake Forest and Notre Dame standout moves the sticks for Washington, who finished
21:385-12 last year.
21:39A disappointing season after their 12-5 the year before.
21:43They had so many injuries to so many veterans last season.
21:47Yeah.
21:47And important positions, too.
21:49Right?
21:49Obviously, anytime you lose your quarterback for an extended period of time.
21:51But Dan Quinn's a heck of a coach, man.
21:53He played against his teams when he was a defensive coordinator in Atlanta and in Dallas for a long time.
21:59He gets the respect of his guys.
22:01Reminds me a lot of Dan Campbell.
22:02Guy that players like to play for.
22:04Katron Allen twisting and turning into DJ Wanham, among others, to set up second down.
22:11And we talked about it earlier, but David Blau, the offensive coordinator for Washington now,
22:18does have ties to Dan Campbell.
22:21His last year, Blau's last year here, was Dan Campbell's first year.
22:25So, there's a knowledge base, at least, in this game.
22:28No doubt.
22:29And a lot of familiarity, I would say, too.
22:31David Blau, coordinators, ex-players.
22:34You normally take what you learn from coaches that you played under, right?
22:37So, coach said we're going to see a lot of familiar concepts.
22:41Hartman gets undercut.
22:42There is a flag down.
22:44It's back in the secondary.
22:46Man, it's a shame.
22:48It's going to be a defensive holding, which is going to take that sack off the board.
22:51Skylar Gill-Howard got in there to blow it up, man.
22:55And he's celebrating, I don't think.
22:58He might not know this one.
22:59Number 28.
23:00By-draft penalty for the junior spot.
23:02Automatic first down.
23:06Man.
23:07I can see a lot, but...
23:10It's on Keith Abney.
23:11Keith Abney, Jr.
23:12Yeah, and he's a competitive guy.
23:14Coach talks about, man, how sticky he can be in coverage.
23:17There's just such a big learning curve sometimes with guys in that secondary
23:21about what you can and what you can't get away with.
23:25As you get more reps, you're going to learn how to be a little bit more sneaky
23:29on hiding some of those penalties.
23:32There's a run for Robert Henry, Jr.
23:34He and Allen both scored last week as the Lions defense celebrates
23:40with a host of tacklers in there, including D.J. Reid from the corner spot.
23:47And I think one thing that stood out to me last week, Jason,
23:50was watching all these guys in the secondary corner slot safety.
23:54The way that they were flying to the football on the run game,
23:56that's non-negotiable if you're Calvin Shepard and Dan Campbell.
23:59If you want to play in the secondary for this defense,
24:01you have to be able to tackle.
24:03So it's no surprise to, you know, a little early movement there.
24:06No surprise to see the defensive backs get involved in the run game early today.
24:12Offensive 85.
24:13Five-yard penalty.
24:14It's on Sig Okonkwo who came over on a three-year deal from Tennessee.
24:19So now second and 16.
24:21It's a little fun here play calling-wise.
24:24For the offense or defense?
24:26I was going to say it's not fun being offensive.
24:28No, no, no, no.
24:29You keep that.
24:30Yeah, and Kevin Shepard's brought some pressure so far today.
24:33Yeah.
24:33We've seen multiple times whether it's bringing, you know,
24:35a guy off the slot or bringing the linebackers through the A-gaps.
24:39And this is one, though, as a defensive lineman, you probably love.
24:42You're thinking, hey, maybe draw, maybe screen,
24:44antenna's got to go up.
24:45But first thought is let's get to the quarterback.
24:47This is not usually a running down.
24:51Hartman down the middle, and he's got a completion across the 40-yard line.
24:56Hartman zips it to Okonkwo.
25:01Devin White, he's had a couple tackles already.
25:03Man, I can't.
25:04I'm so excited about the possibilities that he can have on this defense.
25:09Just his, not only his reputation, his record, what he had.
25:13You know, you're looking at two of the top three tacklers in the NFL last year
25:17were Devin White and Jack Campbell.
25:19So the idea of having those guys side by side, making some big tackles for you in the run game,
25:23being able to cover in the pass game, it's exciting.
25:26Super Bowl for him, a Pro Bowl for him.
25:2917 starts last year.
25:31Hartman drops it off.
25:33He gets it to Reynolds and a juggling grab for Craig Reynolds, who ends up out of bounds.
25:38It's a first down Washington on a gain of eight.
25:41Craig Reynolds, we know him from five years here in Detroit.
25:46They've had some injuries in the backfield, including Jeremy McNichols.
25:49So it necessitated another player with what he can do out of the backfield.
25:54And Craig Reynolds, I know coach was bummed to have to let him go, but he's made a lot of,
25:58he did a lot of good things here in Detroit, but he's just that steady guy.
26:01He can be third down.
26:02He can pick up, like we just saw, you know, whether it's catching passes out of the backfield
26:07or picking up blitzes on third down to protect the quarterback.
26:09He is just a solid player.
26:12Hartman play action.
26:13It's a screen and it is doused.
26:18Absolutely blasted immediately on the catch by Avanti Maddox.
26:24That's a big time play.
26:26That's a big time play from Avanti Maddox.
26:28And that's that veteran presence that you have.
26:31If he doesn't make that tackle, there was a lot of grass.
26:33You get caught with a blitz on a screen, normally doesn't end up well,
26:37but he gets there before that offensive line can get on the perimeter to get a block on him.
26:42And, man, that's a nice play.
26:44Veteran presence, just that awareness that you have on a down like that
26:49where you know they're probably throwing the ball.
26:51Sets up second down and 15.
26:54Hartman to throw.
26:55That's a long throw and a big hit immediately by D.J. Reid on McCaffrey.
27:00That's Luke McCaffrey.
27:04There are McCaffrey skilled position players everywhere.
27:09Good genes.
27:10Very good.
27:12Ed's son.
27:13Christian's brother.
27:14Yeah.
27:15Max's brother.
27:17I think I played with Luke maybe.
27:19He's been in the league for a while.
27:20He was a practice squad guy in Green Bay when I was there.
27:23But, hard working guy, man.
27:25Here we go.
27:25Big opportunity.
27:26Third down.
27:26Go get the quarterback.
27:31Got to get to the 41.
27:34They did get there.
27:36Hartman just got it off and he hits Deami Brown.
27:39But, Rock Yassin was right on his hip.
27:42They hurried Hartman and created a fourth down at the end of the first quarter.
27:47Skylar Gill-Howard, a name we mentioned, really gave Hartman no chance to find his second or third guy.
27:54Gets the pressure on the quarterback.
27:56Nice job getting off the field if you're that defense.
27:58Calvin Shepard.
27:59Sensory in nursing rooms, face painting, other kid-friendly stuff.
28:03This is the way the world should run, if we're being honest.
28:07That's good stuff.
28:08And don't tell these kids it's preseason.
28:10They don't care.
28:10They're watching NFL football, man.
28:11They're having a great time.
28:12I'll tell you what the Lions do such a great job.
28:14Not only today at the game, but being down there at training camp practices
28:18and watching all the activities they have going on for the families and the kids as well, man.
28:23It's so important building these lifelong fans starting at a young age.
28:28And you do it with an enormous slice of pizza.
28:31That's what we just saw.
28:32How else would you do it?
28:33That wasn't even a slice.
28:34That was like half a pizza those kids were eating.
28:36It was amazing.
28:37Tressway to punt.
28:39Tom Kennedy waves to the fair catch at the 10.
28:43Patty is downstairs with one of those kids.
28:46Patty.
28:48Hey, thanks, Jason.
28:50I'm down here with Ace.
28:51And Ace, how excited are you for Kids Day here at Ford Field?
28:58I'm so pumped up and so excited.
29:01And I see you've got some bling on, too.
29:04How fun is that?
29:05And you've got a little lion here as well.
29:07Yeah.
29:08I love to have lions.
29:11Well, who is your favorite Detroit lion?
29:15Rory.
29:16Because, number one, he doesn't bite and he gives high fives and dance bives everybody.
29:26That's great.
29:26Can I get a go lions real quick?
29:28Go lions!
29:29Oh, I love it.
29:30Thanks, Ace.
29:31You're welcome.
29:33That's great.
29:34He doesn't bite and he gives high fives.
29:36That's great.
29:37TJ Lang clears both of those as well.
29:40Love the hair.
29:41You showed me a picture.
29:42Your hair used to be pretty similar to that when you were a kid.
29:45To Rory?
29:46No.
29:47The ace we were just talking to.
29:49Oh, the ace.
29:49Yeah.
29:49With the little afro.
29:50How cute.
29:52That's awesome, by the way.
29:53That's awesome.
29:53That was phenomenal.
29:55Luke Altmaier is in to play quarterback.
29:57He got him for Jackson Meeks and this time he's going to have to swallow it.
30:01He is sacked back at the 10-yard line.
30:04It is TJ Magaranyanga with the sack along with Kane Medrano.
30:10Yeah, play-action pass.
30:11Just a miscommunication.
30:12It looked like Colby Soares doll the right tackle.
30:15You're going to get a pressure on the edge.
30:16I don't know if he thought maybe he had help from the right guard, but his defensive end
30:20just came way too free on that.
30:24And that's the one thing that coaches, look, you're going to lose reps.
30:26You just don't want to lose him too fast like that.
30:29Play like that.
30:30Your quarterback has no chance to get rid of the ball.
30:33Second down and long.
30:35Altmaier slings it far side.
30:38And he's got it across the 20.
30:40It's Meeks once again.
30:41The converted wide receiver, Patty.
30:43Well, after Josh Jobs' rushing touchdown, Coach Campbell came by the bench,
30:48gave him a big old pat on the shoulder.
30:50Petsing also came over, told him good job, gave him a couple of knuckles.
30:53And coming into this game, Dobbs said that his goals for himself were to just be himself.
30:59Go out, execute the offense, get out of the huddle, and perform at a high level.
31:05Well, and you have to respond to negative stuff, right?
31:09No doubt.
31:09He did that after the opening drive.
31:11Puts the Lions in for a touchdown to tie the game.
31:14And now Altmaier, the native of Starkville, Mississippi, is on the roll.
31:18He pats the ball, he throws it, and he's got a first down.
31:22It is Tyler Conklin rampaging across the 40-yard line for a Lions first down.
31:30And third and long.
31:31You know as an offensive line you're going to have to hold up in protection a little bit longer.
31:35But nice shot by Luke Altmaier just to kind of feel that pressure coming off his left side,
31:39understanding, hey, it's third and long.
31:41I can't take the check down, right?
31:42I want to keep this drive going, get breaking out of the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield.
31:47And a lot of quarterbacks might run for that.
31:49And you're looking at fourth and four.
31:51A nice delivery there over the middle of the field by Luke Altmaier.
31:53I really like what I've seen from him the last couple weeks.
31:55He'll boot left this time and throw it a little bit hard and low for Meeks.
32:00Why the cringe on your response there?
32:04First of all, you've got to catch the ball.
32:05I think if you're Meeks there running a little flat route.
32:08Big third down conversion that you're coming out.
32:10Luke Altmaier, maybe you could say, hey, try to lead him a little bit more.
32:14That is a bit of a fastball.
32:15But any time it hits you in the hands, you've got to make that catch.
32:18And I don't know.
32:20I wasn't saying it was going to be a huge play there, Jason.
32:22But it was going to keep that momentum going, especially after picking up that third down.
32:26Especially when you're talking about an offensive line trying to stay in rhythm together.
32:30Now it's second down and 10 off the cutback.
32:33It's Sailors, and he will push to the 49.
32:36Gain of nine, third and one coming up.
32:40Tough run.
32:41He has really tremendous vision, I think.
32:43This play is designed to go outside to the left.
32:45He doesn't like what he sees.
32:46Put the foot in the ground.
32:47Get to the back side without making too many cuts.
32:50Get north and south.
32:51Set your offense and your team up for a convertible third down here,
32:56which is much easier than it would be if you try to keep that play frontside.
32:59You're probably looking at a third and seven, third and eight.
33:01So, really nice vision that time from Jacob Sailors.
33:06Third down and one, trying to pick it up.
33:09It is Raheem Blackshear, the former Virginia Tech Hokie, running up the middle as we check out the Lions' positional
33:15battle at center.
33:17It's brought to you by Frankenmuth Insurance.
33:19And Seth McLaughlin is in on this drive here in the second quarter.
33:23Yeah, let's take a look at these names.
33:24We know that coach has already said Cade Mays is going to be unavailable here for a little while.
33:28Michael Neese is a guy who has played in this league before.
33:31Seth McLaughlin, former Remington Award winner at Ohio State.
33:34I know he's battling, coming off some injuries.
33:37Really likes some things he did last week against Cincinnati.
33:40And Juice Scruggs, he's a guy who obviously got the first reps today.
33:42He's going to have these guys, somebody's going to have to start separating themselves when you get to this point
33:46of the preseason.
33:48Luke Altmaier with a shot fake to get it to Conklin.
33:52I mean, that was like James Hardy, get the guy in the air, lean in.
33:57Second down and seven.
33:59That was just a little, kind of a little screen out there that he didn't like the defensive end.
34:04Yeah, he's jumping in the way.
34:06Okay, a little pump, thanks.
34:07Still trying to get that ball out to Conklin for some positive plays.
34:10That's an and one waiting to happen.
34:12Yeah, a little mixtape there, a little freestyle.
34:15Sometimes you got to do it, it's not always going to be perfect.
34:18Change the arm angle, still find a way to get the ball to your guy.
34:22Altmaier down the middle, that's a diving catch right at the stick by Meeks.
34:27Now that's a nice response to the drop earlier, and Meeks did hold on, it looked like.
34:34Yeah, it did, and you could tell coming off of that bootleg that we talked about a couple plays ago.
34:40Probably not feeling good about himself, but like we said, same thing with Josh Dobbs.
34:43Man, maybe you have some mistakes early in the game.
34:46Are you going to pout?
34:47Are you going to sulk?
34:48Are you going to let that lead into more bad plays?
34:50Or are you going to take advantage of the next one?
34:52That time, Jackson Meeks takes advantage of it.
34:56Sailors, straight forward, first down, right over the middle of that offensive line.
35:01As you evaluate centers, Dan Campbell told us, hey, we just want the exchange to be good first of all.
35:08You don't want any plays where you look and you go, paraphrasing here, where you go, oh no.
35:12Right?
35:13That kind of play that stands out.
35:15What else are you watching?
35:16Well, can you win the one-on-ones?
35:17And it's so different now, playing centers, because you see so many different variations of defenses and disguises.
35:24And, number one, obviously, center quarterback exchange is always going to be the most important.
35:28Number two, how quickly can you identify the defense and make adjustments and get everybody on the same page?
35:34And, uh-oh, look out.
35:36Altmaier is slung down.
35:38He is drilled by Javante Jim-Baptiste.
35:44Yeah, I think just a play-action pass and, like, maybe Tyler Conklin on the back side here.
35:49He was just a little bit late getting off the snaps, right?
35:52You saw him.
35:52Everybody was moving and Tyler was just a little bit late.
35:55Sometimes that's all it takes for you to get your feet beat in this league.
35:58And, you know, you want to make sure you don't hold the guy or get a ten-yard penalty.
36:03But I think that was just that time from Tyler Conklin, which just a split second late getting off the
36:09football,
36:09which shouldn't really happen, especially being at home without dealing with the crowd noise.
36:14Sets him back nine with Martin in motion.
36:18It's a give from Altmaier and Sailors is bottled up.
36:23And just finishing up on the center position real quick is you see so many variations of defenses.
36:29And the best centers I've ever played with are guys that can get to the line of scrimmage,
36:32dissect what the defense is trying to do within a split second, communicate that to all your buddies
36:38because you need everybody, especially on that offensive line,
36:40all five guys have to see the play the exact same way.
36:43You have to see it through one lens.
36:44And that's why I think it's so important to have a veteran guy in there, first of all,
36:49but have a guy that really can understand, A, what the offense is trying to do,
36:53what's the goal of this play, but also what is this defense trying to do
36:56and where can we find some weaknesses?
36:58Altmaier gets wrangled again.
37:00That's Maurice Hurst the second, former Michigan Wolverine with the sack.
37:06And the Lions, just for the second time today, don't convert on third down.
37:11That is the third sack on the drive, though, TJ.
37:14Yeah, it was a promising drive starting inside your own 10-yard line.
37:17And that time, yeah, Seth McLaughlin, I mean, he was in good position originally.
37:22The best offensive lineman, though, you have to defeat the second move.
37:25You have to defeat the third move.
37:26You can't, you're not just going to get defensive lineman that run into you.
37:29And once you stop them, they're going to stop and give up on the play.
37:32How quickly can you keep your feet in the right place?
37:35Can you keep your hands in the right place to defeat those second and third moves
37:39that a lot of guys in this league get a whole lot of sacks out of?
37:43So that's going to be a learning experience there for Seth McLaughlin.
37:45Washington has it when we come back.
37:52Today, oh, it's somebody's first game ever every time you're here at Ford Field.
38:00We are tied at seven on kids' day, kids' takeover day here in Detroit.
38:06Lions have the most recent score on a Josh Dobbs 50-yard touchdown.
38:10And this is a run for Robert Henry Jr. on a handoff from Midwestern kid Ethan Kaliak-Manis for Washington,
38:18who will not have to face the brutal pass rush of that guy, Hayden Hutchinson, today.
38:24Look at the lettuce.
38:25How much product do you think is in that hair right now?
38:27Yeah, he's got a nice little trim on the beard like it.
38:31And, I mean, you can kind of tell, Jason, I'm not lucky enough to have hair like that.
38:35But, man, he is, when he came back last year, I know it took him a couple games to kind
38:39of get back into the rhythm
38:40coming off of that brutal leg injury we saw this season before.
38:44But, man, he is a nightmare.
38:47And I know that coaches say pressure up the middle of the face of Kaliak-Manis.
38:51He got it away for Van Jefferson.
38:53They're glad they got Hutch on their side.
38:54I know that.
38:56He can do it all.
38:57Stop the run.
38:58He gets in that four-point where his face is almost so close to the ground.
39:01And, really, the most impressive stat about him.
39:04We all know what type of player he is.
39:06But, fourth quarters, overtime, when you need somebody in a third down to go get a stop,
39:11I don't think there's anybody better in the league.
39:13He leads the league by far when it comes to disrupted pass rushes in those gotta-have-it, gotta-win
39:20-type moments.
39:21Man, Coach Campbell, Calvin Shepard, can't rave enough about how happy they are to have him on their side.
39:27Here comes Moore around the edge.
39:29He gets bottled up.
39:30Kaliak-Manis on the run.
39:32Hits Jefferson again.
39:33It's a first down for Washington.
39:39Man, just...
39:40He's out there just kind of buying some time in the pocket, rolling up.
39:43It's a little kind of sidearm throw that he had to find in there.
39:47And, man, Hutch, yeah, he's saying, nah, guys, we had the pass rush there.
39:51Need a little bit more discipline.
39:52That time, too many guys running around the quarterback.
39:55You have to feel, once you get to that point where the quarterback's hitting his back foot, his last pitch,
40:01if you're too far upfield, you've got to find a way to retrace.
40:03You cannot give these guys at this level that much time and that much room to maneuver in the pocket.
40:08Here is Katron Allen.
40:10You know, Dan Campbell gets asked so much about us.
40:13He's running out of, like, quips.
40:15Every coach would, but he had another one.
40:17He had another good one.
40:18He said, you know, he's a pain in practice, but I'm glad he's our pain.
40:23And he causes pain.
40:25He is a pain.
40:26Yeah.
40:27He...
40:28But you talk about the pass rush opposite him.
40:31And we joked about it in the open.
40:33But what does that leveling of that pass rush with a guy like Wanham or Moore do for Huch?
40:38Well, if you can have a major impact on some of those second and long and third and longs,
40:43and like we said, third, fourth quarter where you know the other team's throwing the ball,
40:46it's going to maybe take some double teams off of Aiden Hutchinson, right?
40:50Because a little pick up there.
40:52But Hutch is also the guy where every offense is keying on him.
40:56They're going to double team him no matter where he lines up.
40:58So if you can have somebody else that can provide the same pass rush,
41:01it's going to open up more opportunities for Hutch.
41:03Can I tell you about season tickets?
41:06Brought to you by the 2026 Detroit Lions season.
41:10Almost here.
41:11Limited single game tickets are still available for all home games.
41:14To view the full schedule, book your seats at Ford Field.
41:17Visit DetroitLions.com.
41:18slash ticket.
41:20New Orleans is here in just a couple of weeks at Ford Field to open the season.
41:26As it is third down and six.
41:29Caliak Manis slings it out wide.
41:31It's going to be short of the sticks either way.
41:33It is a catch over on the sideline for Colson Yankov, the former UCLA Bruins.
41:43Let's take a look at this.
41:45The Lions sideline was saying we don't think so.
41:48Yeah.
41:49Did it?
41:50I don't think so.
41:51I mean either way.
41:52Either way, it's still for the truth.
41:55They're going to call it incomplete.
41:57And that was the right call.
41:58Even if he had it pinned to his shoulder, he was already out of bounds when he repinned it.
42:03I agree with you.
42:04You agree?
42:04I agree.
42:05That's good.
42:06First time.
42:07Most agreeable booth in preseason history.
42:10That one's pretty obvious.
42:12You have to give me a tougher one.
42:14That's right.
42:14You can see the whole sideline though.
42:16Dan Campbell.
42:18Oh, he didn't catch it.
42:19He was sliding out of bounds and still resting on his shoulder pads.
42:22Either way, good stop by the defense to create a fourth down and get the ball back to your
42:28offense.
42:29The defense has dug in today after Washington scored on defense on the opening drive.
42:36Kennedy's first chance at a return.
42:38He breaks one tackle, shimmies to the middle, spins down to the 28-yard line.
42:42It's a net of 36.
42:46Luke Altmaier of Starkville, Mississippi will come back out with the offense next.
42:52Caesars.
42:54Australia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Canada.
42:59All over Europe.
43:00The territory that the Lions will be in.
43:02Week 10 in Munich against New England.
43:05Excited for that.
43:06Brazil, Canada as well.
43:11A lot of fans.
43:14A lot of fans.
43:15That'll be a fun week in Germany.
43:17You're only going to go for a week.
43:19I thought you might extend the trip a couple weeks early.
43:22Travion Williams, the carry, eighth-year man of Texas A&M.
43:28Second down coming up.
43:29Mentioned Luke Altmaier from Starkville, Mississippi.
43:32Opened his career at Mississippi State.
43:34Transferred then to Illinois.
43:36But his dad for a long time was the orthopedic surgeon for Mississippi State.
43:42He transfers to Illinois and becomes a crop sciences major.
43:47Okay.
43:48How did you do in crop sciences?
43:50I don't think crop science or major would be involved if I had to take any of those classes.
43:57Sounds interesting.
43:58Uh-huh.
43:59Second down six.
44:00Little bit high.
44:01Got the job done.
44:02Kennedy turns up field first down line.
44:04Yeah.
44:04Nice delivery.
44:05That time you're going to get a pressure.
44:07And Devin Cochran the left tackle is going to have to squeeze down.
44:10Luke Altmaier probably knew that defensive end was going to have a free rush.
44:14I got to get the ball out of my hands.
44:15And any time you put the ball really anywhere close to Tom Kennedy who, surprisingly, the
44:21longest tenured by him.
44:23Yeah.
44:23He's been here since 2019 in some fashion.
44:26Whether it's the active roster practice squad.
44:28I know he's bounced around a lot.
44:29But, man, the coaches just love his consistency that this guy brings.
44:33It's so fun.
44:34Every time he gets a chance.
44:35Obviously they trust him enough to return kicks, return punts, put in the work on the
44:39special teams.
44:40And that time coming up with a big play on offense.
44:46Williams barreling into commander territory.
44:49Gain of 13 behind that offensive line.
44:53First down.
44:54Lions moving to the two-minute warning.
44:55Yeah.
44:56Stretch out to the right.
44:57Miles Frazier.
44:57Nice job.
44:58Climbing to the second level.
45:00Somebody's down on the field here.
45:01But that's a really nice job by Travion Williams to just put that foot in the ground.
45:05Find that green grass.
45:06Keep moving north and south.
45:07Don't wiggle too much in the backfield or, you know, try to bounce it outside.
45:12Get up north.
45:12Get some positive yards.
45:13That's a really nice game.
45:17They did let the clock run down to the two-minute warning.
45:20So we will step aside.
45:21Tied at seven.
45:22First down.
45:22Lions when we're back.
45:23In the first quarter, Luke Altmaier for the balance of the second quarter.
45:27He is six for seven.
45:28Fifty-eight yards.
45:29And the incompletion could have been caught.
45:32So a very nice start for Altmaier.
45:35It's not Josh Dobbs' fault that he got blindsided.
45:38Right.
45:38And lost the ball on the opening drive.
45:40So a pretty efficient day to this point from the quarterbacks.
45:44And now a two-minute drill for Altmaier, the rookie.
45:51Travion Williams has been difficult to take down.
45:54And that time he is slung down by Ale Cahoe, the second-year man out of UCLA.
46:01We got a timeout called by Washington.
46:04With 1.53 to go.
46:06Timeout.
46:07In the second quarter.
46:10Washington trying to set up maybe a two-minute drill for its offense.
46:14Please reset the 8-5-9, 1-6-3-4-1-5-7-5.
46:21Every time.
46:24I hear that beat.
46:25And it gonna get.
46:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
46:28One, two, three.
46:29I keep it movin', keep it movin' out your mama's street.
46:33You say you got it.
46:36You got it.

55:38Motion from Williams and a handoff back to Katron Allen, the former Penn State Nittany Lion, and he barges his
55:44way for two.
55:47Second down coming up, Trevor Nowoski with the stop.
55:50We are scheduled to be joined by the king of the Telestrator.
55:56Advisor to the owner, Lions legend Chris Spielman will join us here in the third quarter, I'm told, which was
56:03a treat.
56:04It was a Telestration treat last year.
56:08I told you, you're going to have a new analyst here in a couple minutes.
56:12I thought you meant you were leaving.
56:16Second down and eight.
56:19Kaliak Manis reaches back, goes down the alley.
56:21Oh, what a catch!
56:24Jaden Bradley reels it in, a marker comes flying.
56:27That is an outstanding grab for the rookie out of UNLV if it stands.
56:34Doctor.
56:35Fighting through all sort of contact.
56:37It looked like, what is that, Keith Abney and coverage that, tight coverage.
56:43They're going to call the penalty on the Lions, which isn't going to matter because it looked like a heck
56:47of a catch.
56:47All of the players have completed kicks.
56:50Man.
56:50The flats have DPR.
56:52Yeah, it was Abney.
56:53You're all over it, TJ.
56:55Yeah.
56:56That was an arm bar.
56:57Yeah.
56:59You just, you can't get away with that, right?
57:02You can't get away with that.
57:03You have to find a way to, and it looked like, I mean, the receiver was actually kind of holding
57:10on to Abney at the same time.
57:11Yeah, that's a heck of a catch.
57:13That's a heck of a catch.
57:14That was a wild grab.
57:15Gotta let go of that arm.
57:17That is the first play of 20-plus allowed by the Lions all day, and they're a little salty about
57:23it.
57:23Katron Allen gets the brunt of that salt.
57:29You've seen Kelvin Shepard really dialing up a lot of pressure.
