00:01МУЗЫКАЛЬНАЯ ЗАСТАВКА
00:41For the first time since F1 Academy began in 2023,
00:46the drivers would come to the home of British Motorsport to Silverstone
00:51for one of the biggest challenges on the calendar.
00:54For many out there, the first time hitting the track,
00:57and they could have just one practice session
00:59to get themselves up to speed with this very fast circuit.
01:03Some drivers finding the limits as we went through the session.
01:08But there would be a surprise as wildcard driver Kiara Batik
01:12went two tenths quicker than the rest of the field.
01:16The young 16-year-old here as a wildcard this weekend,
01:19going fastest with a 2.02.6 British driver Alicia Palmofsky second place,
01:26Nina Gaben in third.
01:28Well, now it's time to go qualifying around Silverstone.
01:31We're going to have a reverse grid race and a feature race this weekend.
01:3613 laps for both races, and this is a look at the Silverstone circuits.
01:42One of the trickiest on the calendar, but one that the drivers all enjoy going around,
01:48particularly the Maggots and Beckets section there.
01:51It's a circuit that can punish you for mistakes,
01:54but should offer very good racing.
01:58And alongside myself, Chris McCarthy,
02:00someone who knows all about racing and winning around this circuit,
02:04Abbey Eaton.
02:05Abbey, we've got green lights at the end of the pit lane.
02:07It's been a bit of a wait for the drivers.
02:09They were first out on track this morning at 8 o'clock,
02:14and now 6 o'clock local time we get ready to go for qualifying.
02:17Yeah, all the drivers will be ready and raring
02:20to get their teeth stuck into this qualifying session.
02:23And quite an exciting one, really,
02:25with our wildcard driver Kiara Batik,
02:29quickest in the practice session.
02:31And really interested to see how she's able to potentially ramp it up
02:35that bit further and try and claim her pole position,
02:40I imagine, is the prospect for this session.
02:42Yeah, the top result we've had from a wildcard in qualifying
02:46was actually from Alicia Palmofsky at Qatar getting a P4
02:49and the youngest current pole sitter, Jessica Edgar, 18 years old,
02:55and that was at Circuit of the Americas in 2023.
02:58Could we have some records broken today?
03:01We'll find out.
03:01Drivers are getting out there nice and quickly.
03:05What would they have been doing, do you think, Abby,
03:08between when you have a long gap in your timetable like that?
03:12Because they are out very early this morning.
03:15There's been a bit of a wait for qualifying,
03:17so I'm sure for some of them it will feel like a full reset.
03:21Yeah, definitely.
03:21And I know some of the drivers are actually staying on site,
03:24so I imagine once they've got the important data debriefs
03:28with their engineer, and actually some of the cars earlier on
03:32didn't look like they were handling all too well,
03:36so potentially some setup changes, some discussions on the go,
03:40and, yeah, just trying to kind of clear your head,
03:42have a bit of a step away from the kind of competitive nature
03:46and the pressure of practice and quali.
03:48And then, yeah, in the last half an hour,
03:50they'll really get themselves back into what they need to do for qualifying.
03:54And we've had a very busy day.
03:57F2 is here.
03:58F3 is here.
03:58They've had two sessions each.
04:00Freddie Slater taking pole for the home fans in F3,
04:03and then Lewis Hamilton has went out
04:05and got pole position in spring quali.
04:08So I'm sure the track is going to feel a lot different out there.
04:11Yeah, there's been plenty of rubber put down now
04:14and slightly warmer conditions as well this afternoon.
04:16And as you say, you know, pretty good for the Brits so far.
04:20And Alicia Pomosky was second fastest in the practice session,
04:25only a couple of tenths behind Fatigue.
04:27So I've no doubt she'll be trying to find the extra gap
04:31that she needs to try and pop it on the top step again.
04:35Yeah, currently unbeaten in qualifying this season
04:39is Alicia Pomosky.
04:41Somebody who went very well last time out at Canada
04:44was Megan Bruce.
04:45Let's hear from the British driver
04:47and her thoughts coming into the weekend.
04:53It's experienced driving, so I drove here last year
04:56in GB4 and the year before,
04:58so I definitely know it quite well.
05:00And there's always been some rain at some point
05:03during each weekend,
05:03which I've driven.
05:05Maybe it will come for this one, I'm not sure.
05:07But it's going to be very different
05:08with F1 and F2 and F3 also here.
05:11And just, you know, I've done the track walk
05:12and it's very different with all the sponsors and everything.
05:15So, yes, I've driven here,
05:16but I think it'll be quite different now
05:18with our cars and the grip.
05:21Interesting what Megan was saying there.
05:24The track is going to look very different, isn't it?
05:26Particularly the Lando stand,
05:27which is incredibly impressive.
05:30So the drivers know they're on a Grand Prix weekend.
05:33Yeah, definitely.
05:34And it's crazy, actually,
05:35how all the branding and all the kind of paraphernalia
05:37that's around the circuit,
05:38it really changes the feel of the circuit.
05:41You know, you turn up and you know that you've got to deliver.
05:43And as you say, the Lando stand,
05:4516,000 seats in there.
05:47It's pretty impressive.
05:48And I definitely heard a bit of a roar from them
05:51when Lewis got the sprint qualifying poll earlier on.
05:55Absolutely.
05:55Well, if you're joining us for the first time,
05:57welcome to F1 Academy.
05:59These are some of the most talented young feeder series drivers
06:04coming through the motorsport series right now.
06:08We've been to China so far and to Canada.
06:11We do all our rounds supporting F1.
06:14We're 10 of the 11 F1 teams currently supporting the series.
06:19So you'll see very familiar liveries out there.
06:22For example, here, we've got Alpine's Nina Gaidman
06:24and then big sponsors and partners of F1 Academy
06:28supporting the other drivers.
06:30And we always have a wild card.
06:32And this weekend, it's Chiara Batik for Wella Performance.
06:35Right, first flying lap, Abi.
06:37And it's Nina Gaidman who's going to take us
06:39through Abi Corner.
06:40Yeah, so Nina actually put in a pretty decent time earlier on today.
06:45Third fastest in practice with a 2.028.
06:49The circuit would definitely have rubbed in a little bit more now.
06:51And actually, they're in season testing earlier this year.
06:54The quickest time that was delivered was a 2.015.
06:57So definitely a little bit of pace to find from practice from the drivers.
07:01And Nina Gaidman is going to be the first one
07:03to see what these new conditions are like.
07:06As I mentioned, track's going to be rubbed in a little bit more.
07:08A little less dust on the circuit as we see her enter into Brooklyn.
07:12Using a bit of entry curve there just to get rotation into the car.
07:16Bit of a snap of oversteer mid-corner.
07:18But she's able to keep it all together.
07:20Yep, doing well so far.
07:21P6 in the championship for Nina Gaidman.
07:23Alicia Palmowski leads by 25 points ahead of Emma Felbermayer.
07:27Then Megan Bruce in third.
07:29Peyton West got fourth.
07:31Matilda Pax in fifth place.
07:33After this, we go to Zambor.
07:34Kolkota, where we'll have three races once again like we did in Canada.
07:38And then they end racing in Las Vegas.
07:42And what a sight that was when they went there for the first time last season.
07:46And what a place to end the season.
07:49We always crown a new champion in F1 Academy.
07:51As well as the champions will move on with support from F1 Academy.
07:57Right, Nina Gaidman, two maggots and beckets for the first time looking clean and tidy so far.
08:02Yes, we see a purple sector from Nina Gaidman.
08:05And just behind her, Chiara Batighe also has a purple sector in sector one.
08:11So obviously early in the session now.
08:14But Batighe is still trying to put the hammer down as she did in practice.
08:17And Nina Gaidman is going to be coming through shortly into Vail over the crest.
08:23Heavy braking.
08:24Get the front of the car dialed into the inside kerb.
08:27Little lift of throttle as you turn to get rotation.
08:30And then accelerate it down to the floor as hard as you can as she comes across the line with
08:36a 2.033.
08:38Benchmark time set by Nina Gaidman.
08:41And then, as you said, though, Chiara Batighe purple through the first sector.
08:45Lisa Billard purple through the second, meaning quickest overall.
08:49She was quick here at the in-season test.
08:51Let's see what she can do as the times are rolling in.
08:54Palmowski in eighth place.
08:55Chiara Batighe up to fifth.
08:57Ava Dobson, who was well up there in the top ten earlier.
09:00P3, Peyton Westcott to B4.
09:02And now we go to Alicia Palmowski into Stoke.
09:05Yeah, we see Matilda Patz up to second again.
09:07So continuing that good pace that she had in Canada, obviously secured Aston Martin's first win in the F1 Academy
09:16season overall, actually.
09:18And as we see Palmowski come around the final corner onto the main straight, currently 13th quickest and jumps up
09:27to quickest overall by three tenths.
09:29Unbeaten in qualifying this season.
09:32And you can see why doing a superb job.
09:35That's a great view from the top.
09:37Of Abbey, you can really see who is hitting the curbs through the first corner.
09:43Looking good for Nina Gabeman coming up to one of the favourite parts, I'm sure, for all drivers, Maggots and
09:49Beckets.
09:50Yeah, fantastic section of the race circuit.
09:52Three corners in quick succession.
09:54It's a really brave section of circuit.
09:57Carrying your minimum speed through as much as you can without compromising track position.
10:01For that all-important chapel exit onto the hangar straight and two tenths up almost at the moment.
10:08And at this point here, you'll be thinking, I've got to nail my braking point on the way into Stowe.
10:13And hard on the brakes, really late apex into here, focusing on carrying that entry speed, picking up the throttle
10:20and careful not to run too wide on the exit.
10:23There have been some track limit penalties in the practice session into there.
10:27As she comes into Vail, gets the front end tucked up on the curb.
10:31Same through the right of club.
10:33And she'll shortly be coming over the line.
10:35Fourth quickest at the moment.
10:37And where does it put her?
10:38Up into quickest overall by two tenths.
10:41Yeah, Nina Gaben doing very well.
10:43The qualifying system for F1 Academy is just this one session.
10:47But important to note that the top eight will reverse for the reverse grid race tomorrow.
10:53Right, Chiara Batteague up to P2, the wildcard driver.
10:57Emma Felbermayer for Audi has just gone third.
11:00So Alicia Palmosky now down to fourth.
11:01Make that fifth as Lisa Billard for Gatorade goes fourth.
11:05Yeah, lots of drivers starting to get their really good feel into the circuit now.
11:08And starting to build on that progress they made in the practice session in the morning.
11:13Bruce at the moment has got a purple middle sector.
11:17I know speaking with a few of the drivers,
11:19they were struggling with the balance of the car in practice,
11:21particularly the Campos drivers who were struggling with rear grip.
11:25So potentially some changes made to the setup there.
11:28And the drivers seem pretty happy with what the car is delivering at the moment.
11:31What kind of changes would they be making?
11:34We'll answer that in just a second.
11:36Let's see Megan Bruce over the line first.
11:37That's P5.
11:38So what kind of changes will the teams be making?
11:41And how will that respond then to the drivers?
11:44You know, potentially it could be stuff to do with tyre pressures.
11:47Obviously the operating window in terms of temperature has been changing through the day.
11:51So track temp hots up as well.
11:53But just the balance of the car.
11:54It might be that the front end of the car is actually a bit too strong.
11:57So that's great in the oversteer and the snaps on the way into the corner.
12:00As we see Batigue there, keep it within the track limits.
12:04I mentioned earlier on actually the track limit situation.
12:07There were 32 track limit infringements in the practice session.
12:11So a lot of times deleted from drivers.
12:14And it's easy to do at turns like turn 9 of Copse and turn 15 of Stowe.
12:19So drivers have to play that in their mind as well and not take too much risk.
12:24As we see Batigue tuck in behind a nice toe on the run down to Stowe Corner.
12:30Yeah, this is a really good toe down here.
12:35She's quickest of anyone through the second sector.
12:39And she's going to come into the pit lane.
12:41Why do you think this decision has been made?
12:43Some people will find that very strange.
12:44But I guess they have a plan that they want to follow.
12:48Yeah, so with the F1 Academy, they actually get three brand new sets of tyres for the weekend.
12:54So free practice, they will have used the first set.
12:57But qualifying now they will have had the second set.
12:59Potentially everyone's boxing to put on the third set of tyres to try and get that extra step up on
13:06the lap time.
13:08Absolutely that.
13:09And I'm sure it's a long lap, isn't it?
13:13So the procedure to go through warm-up will take long.
13:15And also taking fuel out of that car as well.
13:18So to keep going, I'm sure it's a plan for the drivers.
13:22Yeah, for sure.
13:23Yeah, they're not going to do a handful of laps in a box and just sit around for 18 minutes.
13:27They'll be also having a chat with their engineer and potentially asking for a few changes here and there on
13:32set up on the car.
13:34Also coming in and just having a little refresh of your brain and thinking, right, okay, where is it that
13:38I need to extract the extra pace from?
13:41Where is it that I need to make sure that I'm not dropping a wheel off here and there with
13:45track limits?
13:45And, yeah, I'm sure they'll be popping on a new set of tyres and going for a second push lap
13:50as we ride on board with Robertson.
13:54There's track limits here, I think.
13:55Yeah.
13:56And a jump over that serrated kerb to boot.
13:59So just struggling with front end grip there.
14:02As we see Alicia Pomosky struggling with the rear end grip, a bit of rally crossing through turn one.
14:09Yeah.
14:10Megan Bruce is his track limits.
14:11Let's find out.
14:12Yes.
14:14Yeah.
14:14What are they struggling with through the first corner?
14:17The first corner?
14:18The old first corner.
14:19It could actually be, I know it's quite gusty out on the circuit at the moment, so it could actually
14:25be a bit of a gust of wind on entry that's just catching them all out because actually that's a
14:29pretty carbon copy of what we've seen of the drivers on the circuit.
14:34So wind potentially playing a bit of a factor through here.
14:38Yeah.
14:38So Gateman is ahead of Batigue and Felbermaier all in the pit lane.
14:42So you might notice some drivers tumble down that timing tower on the left.
14:46Rachel Robertson being one of them.
14:49She has gone out there and done laps.
14:50It's just a case of the ones she did have been deleted.
14:54They are coming in still.
14:56So you might see some more changes to the order if those were the fastest laps that the drivers have
15:03set as looks like Hayley Countryman for Haas is coming in.
15:07So we are at the halftime stage of the session.
15:12Looking good so far for Nina Gabeman, who is leading the way ahead of Kiara Batigue, Emma Felbermaier, then Lisa
15:19Billard, Alicia Palmowski in fifth place.
15:22We saw had that moment through the first corner.
15:25Then Bruce Lloyd as it stands.
15:27Alba Larson not been feeling too well over the course of this weekend, but currently that eighth place would put
15:33her on pole for the reverse grid race.
15:35Yeah, so a good place to be for the reverse grid race.
15:38And actually we just touched upon the onboard with Rachel Robertson getting that track limit penalty and having no laps
15:44on the board.
15:44And actually during free practice she was the worst driver in terms of running wide on the exits of the
15:51corner.
15:52So I'm sure that's something that the teams will have had a discussion with her about and just pulled up
15:58exactly where it is, where the majority of the penalties are coming in, which is turn nine of cops, which
16:04again is to be expected.
16:06And that's what we saw happen from her.
16:08But she really needs to try and just get a couple of banker laps in now and then look to
16:13push the limits a bit further on the second set of tyres.
16:16You can see the sticks on the tyres, absolutely fresh as they make their way out into the circuit.
16:21Does that play a part on you as a driver mentally?
16:24If you know, right, I haven't really got a time on the board here, need to get a move on.
16:29Does that then become more pressure play on your mind when you're heading down to cops, for example?
16:33Yeah, definitely.
16:34You start overthinking things and you start thinking about your braking point and overthinking rather than just driving naturally.
16:40And what we try and do as a driver is to get your banker laps in first.
16:44So on your first set of tyres, get your banker laps in.
16:46Keep a bit of margin on the exit there.
16:48And then once you've got that on your second set of tyres, that's when you can try and push the
16:52limits a bit more and see what you can get away with.
16:54We should stress as well, this is the first entry to single seater racing, to car racing for pretty much
17:01most of the field out there.
17:03You know, we've got Kiara Batik, for example, who's just 16 years old.
17:07So for this, the whole F1 Academy season, wherever they are to finish, is a huge learning progress for.
17:14Oh, definitely.
17:15Yes.
17:15And what a stage to be learning on.
17:18What a stage to have your first season in cars.
17:20And as we mentioned earlier, all the branding, all of the kind of the atmosphere at an F1 weekend, it
17:27really does add another element of kind of mental preparation you've got to do.
17:31You know, you can't be distracted or you can't have your focus disrupted by the crowds and by the support
17:37and thinking about that pressure that you put on yourself.
17:39But those that are able to master it, as we see with Batik and the pace that she's able to
17:44do, you know, those that master it are the ones that are able to be much, much better drivers going
17:50forward.
17:50So it's a really fantastic area and championship to learn the foundations to move on to have a really successful
17:57career.
17:57Yeah, it's, we heard from Megan Bruce, for example, that she was in GB4.
18:03Walking into that paddock is going to be completely different, isn't it, to walking into this paddock as well.
18:10And she mentioned all the small things, just the sponsorship boards around everything.
18:13It's a huge step up and I'm sure quite an overwhelming experience the first time you've done it.
18:18You've raced on Grand Prix weekends.
18:20How is it the first time you walk in?
18:22Yeah, it's a fantastic experience.
18:24You know, it's something special and to race myself, a British driver, to race at my home circuit on an
18:30F1 weekend is something I'll take with me forever.
18:33And as we look at Alicia Promoski sat in the pit lane there, she's mentioned in an interview that, you
18:40know, she used to come to the F1 weekend with her parents and pull up a chair, sit on the
18:45other side of the fence and watch the racing.
18:47So probably quite a pinch me moment for some of the drivers out on the circuit to have this experience
18:53themselves.
18:54Absolutely that and Nina Gabeman had that experience when she won at Zandvoort last year and you could see the
19:01emotions getting the better of her on the podium as she took it all in in front of her home
19:07crowd.
19:07He gave us such a great reception and no doubt when they are out racing, particularly on Grand Prix Sunday,
19:15there's going to be quite the atmosphere around this Silverstone circuit.
19:19Yeah, if you could bottle the feeling you have when you stand on a podium in front of your home
19:22crowd and sell it, you'd be a very, very rich person.
19:26It's something incredible.
19:28And, you know, these drivers, yes, they're at the start of their career and I'm sure that all of them
19:32will have a lot of success to come.
19:34And, you know, the thing that I would kind of say to them is, you know, don't be so focused
19:39on the winning and having that just purely as the only success you have.
19:43You know, take the small wins, take the learning that you have, because ultimately the journey and the racing is
19:49part of, you know, you're going to spend a long, long time away from home doing these kind of laps,
19:56travelling to different circuits, so make the most of it and enjoy it and enjoy the people you're working with,
20:02enjoy the places you're going to and, you know, just make the most of it,
20:06which I know a lot of the girls do and a lot of the girls are absolutely buzzing to be
20:10on the grid.
20:11And the F1 Academy Series organise some fantastic things for them and the support they get from the F1 teams
20:17and F1 drivers themselves is really good.
20:20I mean, we've had, what, China, Canada, we're going to go to Zandvoort, Circuit of the Americas and then Las
20:25Vegas, and it's quite the calendar for them.
20:28And it's got a huge mixture in terms of Challenger circuits as well.
20:32Yeah, yeah, and actually Silverstone is probably, I'd argue, one of the most technical circuits that they're going to be
20:37on.
20:37So, you know, really a lot to get stuck into this weekend and, you know, each circuit they go to,
20:43as you say, brings their own challenge.
20:45You know, we have a lot of street circuits for the girls this year as well, which, you know, Silverstone,
20:50for example, we've seen,
20:51and the reason why we have some of the track limit issues is we have a lot of runoff on
20:55some of the corners.
20:56So, actually, you can be brave and know you've kind of got a bit of a get-out-of-jail
21:00-free card at the other end.
21:01But when you're on a street circuit, there's no room for error.
21:05You know, you make a mistake and you're in the wall, as we saw a few of them kiss the
21:09Wall of Champions last time out at Canada.
21:12So, you know, F1 Academy really are arming these drivers with a toolbox to tackle most corners and most circuits
21:20around the world.
21:21And we've seen the success of it already, Dorian Pan, continuing to work with the Mercedes team and do driving
21:29with them.
21:30And Abby Pullig recently going on to win in GB3, and she's putting a very good campaign together there as
21:37well.
21:37So, we've seen already the success stories of it, many more to come, no doubt about that.
21:45And this is a driver that Esteban Ocon was a huge fan of.
21:49Lisa Billard had a lot of nice things to say about her when she was entering the paddock for the
21:54first time last season as a wildcard.
21:57And doing pretty well so far, P4.
21:59Yeah, yeah, good step forwards from free practice.
22:03And, you know, she's able to move even further up from P4.
22:07I think she'll be chuffed to bits with that.
22:09Her best qualifying so far has been sixth in China in the opening race.
22:15So, yeah, fourth place is definitely going in the right direction.
22:18Yeah, Lisa Billard just making her way now on to the Wellington Straits and down towards Brooklands and Luffield.
22:29Time to beat 202.7.
22:31Many drivers going through that process of an outlap, but Lisa Billard is flat out and currently two tenths to
22:37the good on Nina Gaidman.
22:39Yeah, straight out the box.
22:40And you can see the confidence, how she's throwing the car around.
22:43You know, you've got that first run under your belt with the new tyres.
22:46You know what the car feels like in these conditions.
22:48When you bolt the next set of tyres on, you've got a bank on up.
22:52You've got the kind of foundation that now you can build on.
22:54You know that you left a little bit of margin here, a little bit of margin there.
22:57And that's exactly what Lisa Billard is doing.
23:00Yeah, no, you can take the risk.
23:02As that looked on the limit through there.
23:05Susie Wolfe watching on, the managing director of F1 Academy.
23:09And what a championship she has put together.
23:12What a foundation.
23:13It isn't just this championship.
23:16F1 Academy are helping karting series and giving drivers opportunities to come and audition for this championship.
23:25They are putting out a great paddock together as well.
23:28Lisa Billard, this is looking a really good time for her.
23:31Yeah, two public sectors for the moment as she comes into Stoke Corner.
23:36Hopefully she keeps it all in her laps.
23:39Just slightly wide of the red and white kerb there.
23:42But should about get away with it.
23:44A bit of a lock at the rear of the car on the entry.
23:46Hopefully doesn't push her too wide.
23:48And she's able to keep it again between the lines as she comes through on the start-finish line.
23:55And provisional pole for her six turns down the road.
23:58Wow.
23:59202.1.
24:00And you can just see how much risk she was taking coming down through Vail and club there.
24:06That was absolutely superb.
24:09But are we going to see record today?
24:12Are we going to see the youngest pole sitter and a first wild card ever in the top three positions?
24:18Chiara Batik coming down through the Vail now.
24:21This is looking really good.
24:23Yeah, purple sector in sector two here.
24:25She comes through the final corner of club across the line.
24:29And where does it jump her to?
24:31Again, provisional pole position.
24:33And in the 201s.
24:35First driver to get in the 201s today.
24:37Wow.
24:38Chiara Batik currently on provisional pole.
24:40201, as you said, 0.9.
24:42Let's see who else is going quicker out there.
24:45We've got personal best sectors coming in from Robertson, from Felbermeyer.
24:49Ella Lloyd has done two personal best sectors.
24:52Not quite up there with Chiara Batik.
24:54But look at that gap between first and third.
24:57She can easily jump into the top three here if she keeps the space up.
25:01Yeah, Ella Lloyd didn't actually feature all that much in the first session this morning and the practice this morning.
25:06So, again, looking much more racy in qualifying.
25:10Potentially some set-up changes made to the car as we see her come into Vail.
25:15Front right, nibbling a bit of curb.
25:17Pedal to the metal, crossing through the start-finish line.
25:22Eighth at the moment, jumps up to third position.
25:24Felbermeyer beating her immediately behind for Audi.
25:28And that looks like Latalia Granada jumping up into the top eight positions.
25:35Crucially, Parmofsky in danger of dropping out of it.
25:38Needs to improve.
25:40Currently sits P8 as Ella Stevens drops her out of it now.
25:42So, a young Ella Stevens fresh out of karting.
25:46Eighth place for her in her home race.
25:47But Alicia Parmofsky looks to be on a flying lap in.
25:51Yeah, Alicia struggling for the moment.
25:53She was second quickest in practice this morning.
25:55But, again, complained of kind of rear stability or lack of in the car.
25:59So, it's a big, big gap that she's got to try and find.
26:04She'll come through to complete sector one shortly.
26:08We'll see how she is pace-wise.
26:10But, yeah, green for the moment.
26:12And a much, much better first sector than what she'd previously done.
26:16Still a long way to go.
26:17A two-minute lap in total.
26:20Not even halfway through yet.
26:22She makes her way now towards Woodcutt.
26:25Let's go a little bit further around the circuit
26:27and see what Nina Gabeman can do.
26:29She was once sitting at the top of the times.
26:32She's been demoted to seventh with Megan Bruce going to P6.
26:37Out of the final corner now onto the Hamilton straight we go.
26:39And P3, that is for the Alpine driver.
26:42In the background, Ferrari's Alba Larsson goes up to P6.
26:46Let's go back on board with Alicia Palmovsky.
26:48As she comes into the famous Maggots-Beckett section.
26:51A couple of cars in front of her
26:53that potentially could create a bit of dirty air
26:55and some instability in the car.
26:57Able to keep it all together.
26:59And she should duck in behind for a bit of slipstreaming.
27:02Opting to pull to the right-hand side and dodge that
27:04as they nicely get out of the way for her.
27:07She'll be thinking now all about the braking zone into Stowe.
27:11So really nail the brakes.
27:13Late apex on the right-hand side.
27:15Let the car flow out wide.
27:17Keep him within track limits.
27:18And down into Vale.
27:21Again, over that crest.
27:22Stand on the brakes.
27:23Get the front of the car hooked over the kerb.
27:25Same on the right.
27:26Little lift of throttle.
27:27Plant it and come around club corner.
27:30And across the line, currently 11th.
27:32Where does she jump up to?
27:34Up to second place for Alicia Palmovsky.
27:37Not as quick as Kiara Batig.
27:38Once again, two tenths clear from the field.
27:41Now, Ella Loy jumped up to P5.
27:43Granada lost her time due to track limits.
27:46And you've guessed it.
27:46It was at turn nine.
27:48So she's now down at the back of the field.
27:51And the pressure is on her.
27:52Rachel Robertson, one of many drivers,
27:55calling this one a home race.
27:57And through club now she comes.
27:59Let's see where she can go.
27:59Needs to just get that one place to be within the crucial top eight.
28:03And she gains five.
28:04Wow, what a time that is.
28:06Brilliant, yeah.
28:07So that's what happens when you're able to keep it on the track there.
28:11So she learnt her lesson from that first set of tyres.
28:15And, yeah, what a brilliant jump up the grid for Robertson,
28:18who ride it on board with Alicia Palmovsky.
28:21Oh, a big, big, big snap of oversteer there into cops.
28:26Very, very good to keep that from going round.
28:28But that's going to have cost her massively.
28:31Was that within track limits, I wonder?
28:34Race control playing catch-up slightly.
28:36As Megan Bruce, that certainly was over.
28:39She went four wheels over the white line.
28:41It looked on the limit from Alicia Palmovsky.
28:44This, the corner that has always historically
28:48been one of the most challenging for the drivers here.
28:51Raffaella Ferreira down in 15th.
28:53Needs to improve the racing bulls driver.
28:55Yes, again, we had some good pace from Ferreira
28:58in the last round at Canada.
28:59So 50th place is not where she's going to want to be at the moment.
29:03So only three minutes left on the timing.
29:06So she'll be trying all she can.
29:08You can see ducking in behind for a slipstream
29:10to try and jump up the grid.
29:12Yeah, Ella Lloyd is trying not to give her a toe there.
29:16And moving around on the straight right,
29:18this is Alicia Palmovsky.
29:19Second place.
29:20Can she go one better?
29:22Kiara Batty, the young 16-year-old card,
29:26leading the way, but British Championship leader,
29:29Alicia Palmovsky, three poles in a row this season
29:32in the three sessions that we've had.
29:34Out of the final corner and still good enough
29:37for second place.
29:39No improvement that time from Alicia Palmovsky.
29:42Has two and a half tenths to find
29:44and only two more laps to do.
29:47Yeah, no one seems to have an answer for fatigue
29:49at the moment, which is really impressive
29:50from the wildcard driver.
29:52And, yeah, Palmovsky is there or thereabouts,
29:55but I think it's sector two
29:56where she ends up losing a little bit of time
29:58where fatigue seems to be particularly strong.
30:02So, again, riding on board with Alicia,
30:04we can see that she was battling
30:06the rear stability in the car,
30:09you know, almost kind of rallycrossing it
30:10around the corners and backing it into the corners.
30:12So, potentially, this could be
30:14a slight little bit of overdriving.
30:16Every Brit wants to be on pole position
30:18at their home race,
30:19and it's so easy to start overdriving the car.
30:22So, potentially, a bit of a cool-down lap
30:24and then another push to finish.
30:26Yeah, she'll get one more go at it.
30:27Megan Bruce out of the top eight
30:30in tenth place so far.
30:32Let's see what she can do
30:33through the final corner now.
30:34She's talked about really looking forward
30:36to this race.
30:36And eighth place, just about good enough,
30:39but she'll get time for one more lap.
30:41We are not far away from seeing the chequered flag.
30:44Wes Scott, who had a time-deleted,
30:46has gone up to tenth place.
30:47Jade Jaquette really fighting with that
30:49at the moment as Ella Lloyd.
30:51We now go on board.
30:53Yeah, so sixth place for Ella Lloyd at the moment.
30:55Again, good progress from the previous session
30:58this morning as we see her, again,
30:59fighting the car, launching over the curbs.
31:02Nice and smooth on the steering wheel there,
31:04trying not to destabilise the car too much.
31:07And she'll actually have a really good toe
31:09down the hangar straight here.
31:11So potentially the next sector,
31:13if she keeps it neat and tidy,
31:15could be a good sector under the green.
31:17Yellow flag out, but it's through the first section.
31:20So this should be okay for these drivers
31:23who you're looking at.
31:25Chiara Batte has come into the pit lane.
31:29Talk about confidence from the young world car driver.
31:32Ella Lloyd now coming through Vell and Club.
31:36Sixth place for her, for the McLaren driver so far.
31:39Alicia Pomofsky's got one more go at this
31:42as Ella Lloyd goes deeper.
31:43Yeah, so it's all eyes on Alicia Pomofsky now
31:47for this final lap on the track.
31:50A tenth, just a tenth, almost two to find,
31:54to try and take pole position from Batte.
31:57So we see a massive snap of oversteer from Ella Lloyd there.
32:02So, yeah, work is there for Pomofsky to do.
32:06Ella Stephens just missing out on the top eight there,
32:10but that's a really good drive regardless to go P9.
32:13Now, we had a spin from Kosterman,
32:14the Lego racing back driver.
32:17Let's see what happens.
32:22Just a case of, was that just too much speed going in
32:25or just missing her line?
32:26Yeah, it just looked like a little bit of overconfidence
32:28on carrying the speed into the corner.
32:30And I don't know whether she had a couple of stabs
32:32at the steering wheel there as well,
32:33which, you know, Abbey Corner, if you go into there
32:36and you're not smooth on the wheel,
32:37it will absolutely bite you,
32:39which is what we've seen happen there.
32:41Thankfully, no damage done,
32:44but, yeah, that's going to be a bit of a scary moment.
32:47A yellow flag out in Section 8 as well.
32:50I think Alicia Pomofsky may have made it through there,
32:53but she's four tenths down through the first sector,
32:56through Maggots and Beckets, she comes now.
32:58Let's see what she can do through the second
32:59as Ava Dobson makes a late improvement
33:02and goes up to fourth.
33:03Likewise, Nina Gaidman up to P6.
33:05There's still time out there to be found.
33:08It's over to these drivers now to do it.
33:09Yeah, Emma Felbermayer quite far down, actually,
33:13considering she is currently fourth in the championship.
33:16She's not going to be happy with this,
33:18but if she does finish in eighth place,
33:20at least it will give her then the pole position
33:21for the reverse grid.
33:23As we see Batik out of the car,
33:27feeling happy with her performance.
33:31Well, Chiara Batik, the young 16-year-old,
33:35has broken two records.
33:37She's become the first wild-card driver
33:39to finish in the top three of a qualifying session,
33:42let alone take pole,
33:43and she's become the first wild-card driver
33:46to take pole, and the youngest as well,
33:49at just 16 years old,
33:50racing in the British F4 Championship this season.
33:53She's a Red Bull junior,
33:54and you can see why.
33:55She is incredibly talented.
33:57First stab at F1 Academy,
33:59straight to the top.
34:00How about that?
34:01What an absolutely impressive debut in F1 Academy.
34:05You know, she will not want any more than this.
34:08What a fantastic debut.
34:11And, you know, she came into this week,
34:14and I saw in an interview, you know,
34:15just wanting to make sure she improved every session she went out.
34:18And, well, she's got nothing to improve on.
34:20She's P1 in practice and P1 in qualifying.
34:23This wild-card program is a really good chance
34:26for the drivers to audition to get a full seat next season.
34:29I think she's already completed it with that performance.
34:33Chiara Batik,
34:34the youngest ever pole-sitter in F1 Academy,
34:37and the first wild-card to come in
34:39and go quickest of anyone,
34:41and around Silverstone as well.
34:43One of the, arguably,
34:45one of the most challenging circuits on the F1 calendar,
34:48let alone the F1 Academy calendar.
34:50Yeah, what a place to do it.
34:51And I know that her and Pomoski are good friends
34:55from the Red Bull Academy that they run, Junior Academy.
35:00So, yeah, I've no doubt that she will have come in
35:03with high expectations of herself.
35:05And, yeah, well, it'd be interesting to see
35:07how Alicia feels after qualifying.
35:12A couple of tenths shy.
35:13So, again, a little bit of work to do there from the race,
35:17but it's going to prove a very, very exciting reverse grid
35:21battling up through the pack,
35:23and Emma Felbermayer starting from pole position
35:26on that reverse grid.
35:29Absolutely that.
35:30Emma Felbermayer, as you said, on pole.
35:32There's Chiara Batik's car.
35:35Hugely impressive.
35:36And for high-tech as well.
35:37It's a home race for the high-tech team.
35:40They'll be very pleased with that.
35:41Some other good performances coming in there, though.
35:43Lisa Billard third, Ava Dobson fourth.
35:46Two drivers who will be very pleased with that performance,
35:50getting themselves up in the top five.
35:52Likewise, Rachel Robertson as well.
35:54Yeah, definitely.
35:55As we mentioned earlier in the session,
35:57Ava Dobson had a best qualifying of ninth.
36:00So a massive improvement from her
36:02amongst the other drivers on the grid.
36:05Well, there we go.
36:06The chequered flag for the day here at Silverstone,
36:09and it's done with an astonishing performance.
36:14Chiara Batik, the 16-year-old world card,
36:17has come in and become the youngest ever pole sitter
36:19in F1 Academy,
36:21the first world card to go and take a pole position.
36:25Alicia Palmowski second,
36:26Lisa Billard third,
36:27Ava Dobson fourth,
36:28Rachel Robertson fifth,
36:30and Lloyd Gademan,
36:31Felbermayer,
36:32Bruce Westcott.
36:33Plenty of British drivers up there for the home vans,
36:35and another one,
36:36Ella Stephens in 11th,
36:37Granada in 12th.
36:39Alba Larson poorly this weekend.
36:41She's 13th place,
36:42and Ferreira,
36:43Kosterman,
36:44Pats,
36:45Countryman,
36:45and Jade Jacket,
36:46who struggled with some track limit penalties
36:50during that session.
36:52The Williams driver will be down in 18th for both races.
36:56Well,
36:57coming up first tomorrow will be the reverse grid race,
37:01lowest scoring race,
37:01where we flip the top eight of the grid around,
37:05but it's going to be incredibly exciting.
37:0713 laps of racing will be on air.
37:11Make sure you join us from six o'clock local time.
37:14From myself,
37:15Chris McCarthy,
37:18it's goodbye.
37:45All right.
