00:005 yards, that's what Detroit said, coming into the game.
00:02We're willing to give up 5, just not big plays.
00:04We think we'll get stops.
00:07It's a nail-biter here in Detroit, that's for sure.
00:09Both of these teams desperate for a win.
00:182nd and 5.
00:22Toss to Warren.
00:24Found a little opening, and away he goes!
00:28Jalen Warren with the touchdown!
00:4145 yards.
00:44Warren breaks it.
00:45Take a look at the left side.
00:47Spencer Anderson and Williams right here.
00:50They're going to kick out 4 or 5 yards.
00:54For Washington, I mean, and Spencer Anderson, and that creates such a hole.
01:00And goodbye, Warren does the rest.
01:03What a monster drive for Pittsburgh.
01:06And before this PAT, we got the score that Pittsburgh won a Super Bowl in this building.
01:1021-10, they get now 22-10.
01:13I don't think a lot of people really expected Pittsburgh to come into Detroit and control this game like he's looking.
01:20Run, run, Rudolph!
01:22Steelers have two touchdowns that have measured 45 yards today.
01:25We can take the freeway down.
01:27We're back here in Detroit where things are quiet for the Lions faithful, Tomlin.
01:33It's congratulating his team on some great play.
01:36And they have scored every way possible in this half with a safety, a field goal, a touchdown, and a point after.
01:41And that run by Warren, by the way, is longest since 2023.
01:47Now the Lions are going to have to mount a big-time comeback.
01:52And that gets only out to about the 27-yard line.
01:55When you talk about the Lions, Tony, if you really talk about, there's still a mathematical chance if they lose.
02:01But it is really slim after that.
02:03Really slim.
02:04Basically, it comes down to the Packers losing two games, which you don't expect, especially with what happened in their last game.
02:09To me, this is a huge quarter.
02:11If you're a Detroit Lions fan, you need to win this football game and win this quarter.
02:16But it looks like 12 points.
02:17I don't do math perfectly, but sometimes it looks like 12.
02:2013.
02:2113.
02:21I did the math.
02:23They can get 13.
02:24They can actually do this.
02:26And believe me, we're good enough to do it.
02:28But it's been a rough go of it today without any rushing yards.
02:31We've seen so many crazy comebacks this season in the NFL.
02:35That's not a way to get started.
02:37Pass intended for Gibbs.
02:39Just last night, take that for example.
02:41It's been such a wacky year.
02:43I can't remember any year where it had so many games that just, you can't imagine whether it's Buffalo and Baltimore to start the year, Chicago last night,
02:51those Denver comebacks against the Giants and Philadelphia.
02:55It's on and on.
02:57So can the Lions add to that list on a remarkable season?
03:00They've got to protect better because now you're down 12.
03:03They're not going to run the ball very much.
03:04So this is on golf.
03:06Off to Gibbs.
03:08Picks up seven.
03:10And you saw in the first down play, Sawyer creates the pressure in for Watt.
03:15Runs it.
03:16TE stunts.
03:17Oh, and Porter, who's played well today, is down.
03:20She has.
03:21So they come out to take a look at him.
03:31Boy, the stars.
03:32I mean, Gibbs averages five and a half a carry, 1100 yards on the season coming in.
03:38He's explosive.
03:39And look at Amon Ra.
03:40Three for 30.
03:42Almost identical numbers for J. Mo Williams.
03:44Coming into the game, I just felt like this Steelers defense, having Harmon back and with
03:50the guys who are playing out there, to me, you get healthier in the secondary, Duggers
03:55back, et cetera.
03:56Not having Laporta makes you be able to control the outside, which is what they've done.
04:01Got an injury timeout with Porter down.
04:03Magnificently decorated off Woodward here in downtown Detroit with its high-skating rink
04:10and all the lights.
04:11And here we go.
04:12Lights are on the Lions right now with third and four.
04:15A guy who has not played much is going to play man-to-man.
04:18Guess who?
04:20St. Brown.
04:21That's Daryl Porter.
04:22Signed up from the practice squad today.
04:24They're looking to go against him here.
04:26And a catch is made by Raymond.
04:30First, first down of the second half.
04:33And here comes Porter back in.
04:38A different Porter.
04:39The reason why this was open, though, is because they had to help the safety on top,
04:44which literally left Samuel in a one-on-one situation with the entire field.
04:50Huge advantage for Detroit on that play.
04:54Can they get a little rhythm going?
04:55Porter, by the way, set out one play.
04:57He's back out there.
04:58There's a pass to Tesla.
05:00He had a touchdown.
05:01The Lions' only touchdown of the game.
05:04Caught that right in front of Porter.
05:05Who helps bring him down?
05:06Yeah.
05:07Porter went out and Porter went in.
05:09And, of course, his dad won a Super Bowl.
05:11By the way, that's Porter Jr.
05:12And then the Porter's there.
05:13That's right.
05:14Porter's there.
05:14Yes.
05:15His dad.
05:15Different Porter's there.
05:16On the Super Bowl on this field.
05:19Second and three.
05:23And that's Zylstra with the first down catch and effort.
05:28It'll be the fifth catch by tight ends today.
05:31And this is the reason why when we showed Dan Campbell it's hard to get the ball outside to Williams and St. Brown because you can make an effort to help these safeties wherever they go and double team those guys because Laporte is not in there on the inside.
05:46So this needs to be somebody else on the inside has to show up.
05:50First down at the Pittsburgh 49.
05:53And you saw the last two plays, right?
05:54Raymond.
05:55And then tight end.
05:57Back to back.
05:57Fake the run to Kitts.
06:00And they go instead to Raymond.
06:02Picks up good chunk play down to the 34.
06:05Ratlidge, one of those who threw a big block.
06:0714-yard pickup.
06:10It's going to be a toss fake.
06:12It's a screen.
06:14But right now, like I said, they're going to take away your stars.
06:18You've got to throw the ball to other guys.
06:20And right now, they're figuring that I think Dan Campbell finally kind of has that mode, right?
06:26He's calling the game.
06:27Go to the other guys.
06:28Are they going to cross him up with a little run somewhere in this mix?
06:32Let's see.
06:33Goff has hit his last five passes.
06:35He's got a new set of downs.
06:36He's going to stay up top.
06:38And, oh, Amon Ra, unable to pull it in.
06:43Gave it a couple of tries.
06:44It's update time.
06:46Adam Schein has the story.
06:47Gave it's being pushed in that game now, trying to pull away a little bit.
06:52St. Brown unable to make that catch, Tony.
06:54He's without a reception in the second half.
06:58It's tough when you go a long time.
07:01He needed to make that catch, though.
07:03That was a big one.
07:04Second and ten.
07:09Gives.
07:10Pounces off one hit.
07:11And another.
07:12And gets within a yard and a half of a first down.
07:14It's a good route.
07:23It's a good job by him extending the play.
07:25And you see the effort.
07:27Hayward, Sawyer coming back from the D-line.
07:31This is a must drive right now for Detroit.
07:33Which is a four-down territory for him because a field goal doesn't do him any good.
07:37It's four-down territory in every game and every drive that they play.
07:40Yeah.
07:41Gamble, yes.
07:42Third and two.
07:44Low throw to Tesla.
07:48And now you've got a fourth down coming.
07:50And this is rare for Jared Goff.
07:53He just, you start to feel the blitzes that have happened throughout the game.
07:58Where you're like, wait, is a guy blitzed or did he not?
08:00So you're not really sure as a quarterback.
08:02You start to do things.
08:04He got stepped on by mahogany.
08:06Yeah.
08:07That doesn't feel good.
08:10Not sure it impacted the throw a ton.
08:12But it definitely is going to hurt.
08:14Here we go.
08:15Pittsburgh has allowed the most fourth down conversions in the league this year.
08:1925.
08:22Fourth and two.
08:23And timeout called by Pittsburgh.
08:26Second charge timeout.
08:27Pittsburgh a 30-second timeout.
08:30It's good and bad.
08:31Good in case you felt like you were going to give up an easy play.
08:35Bad, though, that you're down to one timeout if they end up scoring.
08:41Where's the playoff picture for each of these teams?
08:45You look at this.
08:46Denver is down two touchdowns with a little more than two minutes to go to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
08:5112 and three then.
08:52Yeah.
08:53Not over yet.
08:54But just in case it goes that way, that means Jacksonville goes, wow, that's a...
08:59The AFC has got a lot of stuff going on.
09:03Crazy.
09:06You see the Chargers with a win earlier today in Dallas impressively.
09:11Buffalo struggled but beat Cleveland by a field goal.
09:14Here we go.
09:14Fourth and two.
09:16Lions almost have to have it.
09:21Goal, Roman, 10, 5.
09:28Touchdown, Lions.
09:30What a fourth down play.
09:31Dan Campbell's all-time 100th fourth down conversion goes for a touchdown as Raymond ran away from Samuel.
09:53This is why I talk about going to the other guys.
09:59Everyone is literally prepared for St. Brown, Gibbs, Williams, and that drive went through the other guys.
10:06Smart by Dan Campbell.
10:09First touchdown catch of the season for Raymond.
10:11Extra point.
10:12Good.
10:12Now the Lions trying to roar back.
10:21Raymond had a couple of big plays in that series including touchdown on fourth down.
10:25These amazing shots of today's game provided by Nationwide.
10:34You got the Lions getting back into this one trying to keep that alternate wins and losses streak going.
10:40Trying to run it to 11 consecutive weeks.
10:42They also have another streak that's just crazy.
10:44They've won 15 consecutive games after a loss.
10:49Goes back several years.
10:51One off the all-time record.
10:53If they can pull it off today, they tie it.
10:54Wow.
10:55By the way, next Sunday, divisional matchup action.
10:58Steelers face the Browns.
11:00How about this one down in Charlotte?
11:02Two division leaders, Seattle and the Panthers.
11:05All regional action.
11:06It all begins at noon Eastern with the NFL today.
11:08You can always count on Sundays with the NFL on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
11:12John O'Smith into the backfield.
11:34They give it to Gainwell.
11:37Had a good block for Metcalf and he's able to pick up 10.
11:40That's a great play call by Arthur Smith to get the drive starter.
11:45Tracy.
11:46Jim, two injury updates.
11:48The Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin questionable with a hamstring injury.
11:52And the Lions do not have defensive end Marcus Davenport out there.
11:56He is questionable with a shoulder injury.
12:00More casualties on that Detroit defense.
12:04Davenport, who just came off a buy-on about four weeks ago.
12:10Three tight ends for the Steelers on first and 10.
12:17With a bump-off pass, we could Gainwell get around all of that traffic.
12:21Pick up about six.
12:22They're running the offense right through him.
12:26We got a penalty.
12:27We do.
12:28The legal block in the back, number 81 offense, 10-yard penalty, repeat first down.
12:43It's called on John O'Smith.
12:45He didn't really need to go ahead and play that right there.
12:57I don't think Campbell was going to be able to make that actual play.
13:02But if you push a guy in the back when you're running at him,
13:06it's got a chance of being called when the ball carrier is near you just to give you that time.
13:09I know you can't do that, but they actually ended up pushing the defender toward the running back.
13:14Well said.
13:15Now you've got a first and 20 halfway through the final quarter.
13:20And that's a huge difference for a team who's been systematic throughout the game, right?
13:24Staying in phase.
13:25Down the way to go.
13:39Metcalf turns around, back shoulder.
13:41Perfectly placed pass by Aaron Rodgers.
13:49This is outstanding.
13:50This ball's in the air before he turns his head.
13:53And it's just because the defender, right there.
13:58This ball's already gone.
14:00And now you find it's just because the defender isn't looking at you that you know my guy will turn his head at that point.
14:08All the reps start to come to fruition.
14:10And it was good enough for a first down.
14:12It was a first and 20 play.
14:17Huge play.
14:19Warren.
14:20Warren whipped off one long run.
14:22He's got another one.
14:23No one's going to get to him.
14:36Another 45-yard run.
14:39A sprint to the end zone.
14:41Both of his rushes for scores from 45 out.
14:46Take a look right here.
14:47This is why having the backup safeties.
14:49Harper, you got to get outside.
14:51Get out there.
14:53It allowed Metcalf to block two guys, the corner and him.
14:56It's like a crack replace a different way.
14:59And what a job.
14:59And what a job.
15:02What an answer by Pittsburgh.
15:05Extra point, Boswell.
15:08Good.
15:106.41 to go.
15:11We're back in 30 seconds after this.
15:20We're back.
15:21Yeah.
15:22Pointing that way.
15:24Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have scored three touchdowns in this game today.
15:29All three of them from precisely 45 yards out.
15:33And Warren has all the running backs.
15:36One of them was a running back catch.
15:38That was, you'll see a few times, right?
15:41That was amazing.
15:42Again, well, and then the other two long runs, which I think were safety issues in the run game.
15:47And not trying to give big plays have caused a couple of big plays in the run game.
15:52Warren now 14 carries, 143 yards, and a two touchdown performance.
16:00Big game by Warren.
16:04Game gets easier.
16:06We got 14 carries, 143 yards by your running back.
16:10Yeah, and they have exactly 200 right on the number, 200 yards rushing.
16:14For a team that averages 92 yards a game on the ground.
16:17Exactly.
16:19That's Kennedy running it out.
16:20Let's check out the early headlines from the 1 o'clock window around the league.
16:26Well, the Bills got pushed by the Browns, but they pick up their fourth straight win.
16:30They win in Cleveland 23-20.
16:33And how about Justin Herbert and the Chargers?
16:36Their fourth straight win as well.
16:38They take care of the Cowboys down in Dallas.
16:40And the Panthers bring down the Bucs to take first place in the NFC South.
16:45But they have the rematch with Tampa Bay coming up on Week 18.
16:48And in Tampa, there's going to be a lot of big Week 18 games.
16:51I guess I can see it right now.
16:54First and ten.
16:56There's Amon Rahm with a flag out.
16:58I don't necessarily think the offense was set.
17:04This could be coming back.
17:06Offense.
17:07Number 84 did not get set prior to the snap.
17:10Five-yard penalty.
17:11Replay first down.
17:13All right, Tracy, down to you.
17:14Jim, it's been really a tale of two offensive lines.
17:17Both coming in, dealing with a lot of injuries.
17:20This Steelers O-line getting it done.
17:22First group that Rodgers went over to high five after that touchdown.
17:26Then Mike Tomlin went up and down.
17:28And he said, you've got to live a certain way this time of year.
17:32You've got to live a certain way.
17:33Big boys run the football.
17:35That's what they've been doing.
17:36Boy, Mike.
17:37He has so many great sayings.
17:40Here's Goff on first and 15.
17:43Goes to Gibbs.
17:44Trying to wiggle around Queen and Porter's there to help out as well as Clark.
17:48They're going to continue to give that up and let the clock keep ticking right now at this point in the game.
17:54As Tomlin encourages his team, takes about a step one yard into the playing field to salute his defenders,
18:00all aggressively coming to the football.
18:03Second down and 10.
18:06And he's gone.
18:07Almost picked off for the third time he had a play on the ball.
18:10By Clark.
18:11Yeah.
18:11Third time.
18:12You're right.
18:13He almost made the theft.
18:16Well, he's coming out of the middle of the field.
18:18He comes down.
18:19This one was probably his.
18:22That's just a great play by Clark.
18:24You can't blame him for not getting a pick here.
18:26It's just a wonderful job of getting his hands on the ball.
18:30Pass breakup.
18:31He's been around the ball.
18:33That matters.
18:34Now you've got a third and 10.
18:45Goff.
18:47Fires it.
18:47Got his man.
18:49It's Williams.
18:51Retreating a little bit.
18:52But we'll see where they get the forward progress.
18:55First down for Detroit anyway is Lyson.
18:57First down for Detroit.
18:58That's 21 yards on that play.
19:03It's a great read because they had Gibbs and St. Brown on the same side the last time.
19:10Now they were both on the left.
19:11And that allowed him, Jameson, to actually catch it.
19:14So keep reading that out.
19:15Off again.
19:16Down the middle.
19:17And another catch by Williams.
19:19Back-to-back plays for J-Mo.
19:22That's exactly right.
19:24You're going to see they're rotating the safeties towards St. Brown and Gibbs.
19:32Find the guy away from him.
19:34Goff.
19:35Dumps it off underneath to Gibbs for about four yards.
19:38That last catch by Williams gave him a 1,000-yard season.
19:42Back-to-back years.
19:43He got 1,000 yards, 1,001 yards last year with his last catch of the season, putting him over the mark.
19:49Now he's got it again.
19:52Four and a half to go.
19:54Second and five.
19:56And that's going to pick up a first down with Frisker.
19:59They have figured out where to go with the ball.
20:03Let them double-team certain guys, rotate a certain way, go to Frisker, go to Raymond.
20:11And then all of a sudden you can go to Williams when they decide to rotate the other side.
20:17Austin hoping his defense can somehow do something here to slow this down.
20:22Lions now moving at will.
20:24It's just an adjustment game.
20:25When they start to adjust to what you're doing, you've got to adjust again.
20:28That catch by Frisker, by the way, is fourth of the game for 40 yards.
20:34There's a little lob over to Gibbs.
20:36In the open field.
20:38He's down the 40-yard line.
20:41Maybe the two.
20:44Sewell had a big block to help this play bust open.
20:49Just a great job of play calling at the exact moment.
20:53It was a screen pass versus all up front.
20:59Here's Goff.
21:01Almost.
21:02That's Ramsey.
21:04That pass play, by the way, Goff to Gibbs.
21:06Put Jared over 300 yards on the game.
21:09Hmm.
21:10Well, before we go about the 300, Ramsey gets his hands on this ball.
21:15Because that was a walk-in, easy touchdown, trying to go fast right there.
21:20And I think that's been huge, having Ramsey, because he plays multiple positions as Echols
21:24goes out, that Tracy told us earlier.
21:27It's a huge advantage today.
21:28Second and goal.
21:294-18 to go in this game.
21:31And you know, Goff's already set the record for 10 games with 300 yards for the Lions.
21:35Now he's added another one.
21:37That's 300 with three touchdowns and no picks.
21:39He's done it 10 times.
21:41Oh, that's true.
21:41He needs another touchdown, I guess.
21:43Might come right here.
21:44On second and goal.
21:46Almost again.
21:48That time, Y.A. Black got his hands on it.
21:57This is a walk-in touchdown.
22:02Yeah, Zylstrup.
22:03What a block by Black.
22:04Just watch, the motion's gonna come over right here, and then no one's gonna guard.
22:11Oh, you could not make an easier touchdown, unless you have a really athletic.
22:18Okay, third and goal.
22:20Four yards out.
22:23Gibbs flanking the quarterback.
22:26Over to Gibbs, he's wide open.
22:28Easy touchdown.
22:30Lions are in.
22:31Just watch this.
22:46These two guys on defense are gonna have to guard him and Ferkser.
22:50He got Gibbs and Ferkser.
22:51As soon as Ferkser releases outside, it's too late.
22:56And you can't get there.
22:58Moon.
22:59And that's really on Moon, just not being prepared for a quick release.
23:03The running back is gonna block first.
23:05Yeah, Moon just signed off the Carolina practice squad this week, brought back to Pittsburgh.
23:08They spent time, and the extra point by Bates is good.
23:12They just went 68 yards, Tony, in two and a half minutes.
23:16And this game, that was a chess match early on.
23:19Yep.
23:19They're just wide open now.
23:21I'd like to welcome the audience to just join us.
23:28We've been watching the Texans and the Raiders with the Texans holding on for a 23-21 victory.
23:35We've got a wild fourth quarter game going on here in Detroit.
23:40Jared Goff just threw his third touchdown of the afternoon.
23:44You said Moon just signed from the practice squad from another team, and now you're playing.
23:52T.J. Watt's injury, Herb Big is out.
23:55You've got to play multiple people on a big play.
23:58I don't mind targeting those guys when they just show up, because they're going to be possibly a little late to understand the defense, and it shows there.
24:04He's got to play multiple games, but in fact, it shows up.
24:09Doff now with 30 of 45 attempts for 311 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions.
24:17Well, he did it again.
24:20That's out of, set the record for 10-game stretch.
24:24Well, one thing he has done, too.
24:25Now in 11 games is probably the record.
24:28He's tied.
24:29That's correct.
24:30He's just tied with his first touchdown in this game today.
24:34That made it now 21 straight games with a touchdown pass that happened on the pass to Tesla. We talked about that earlier. Yes. So he ties the Stafford franchise record. Sneakily doing great things. You know, Nate doesn't come to the forefront all the time. Not too much. Flash. Not with other guys. It should be in the MVP, but they're a record and they've got to win this game.
24:57And those that just joined us, Warren just returned that he has had two rushes, 45 yards for touchdowns in this game. Did you see Aaron Rodgers numbers are good too? Warren averaging 10 yards a carry in this one. There's Stafford with that 21 game streak of a touchdown pass. Though they've only rushed for 18 yards today.
25:18Do you think that puts pressure on the quarterback? Yes. But Aaron Rodgers has answered the bell every time this has happened. And Detroit keeps putting pressure on him in this third and fourth quarter, especially the fourth quarter right now. Can they answer the bell again?
25:32Hand off to John Smith. And Maddox trying to bring him down and need some help. Arthur Smith, incredible to start these drive starters, back-to-back drives.
25:52How about Liam Cohen and the Jacksonville Jaguars have now made it official. They've defeated Denver out of the Mile High City and finished off their 11-game home winning streak.
26:04And the streak they had going on all season long. As now Denver drops to 12-3. New England's at Baltimore tonight. And Jacksonville is there within one game of the best record in the AFC.
26:15You would have thought. Incredible. Jacksonville, Carolina. Impressive.
26:20Well, they lose Spencer Anderson in the fullback. First and 10. Faked the handoff. And they're going over to Washington. And he runs over one defender.
26:36Reed, who's already been shaken up one time. He takes another big blow. It goes for 13. It was Washington who ran into him that knocked Reed out of the game briefly before.
26:45Watch the fake. But look at Aaron Rodgers' eyes. He's going to no-look this. Hey, everyone, run over here to the left while I throw the ball way out over here.
26:53Could have thrown a little bit better ball with the no-look, if I'm honest. But he's... Look at that.
27:00And nobody wants to tackle this guy, Jim.
27:03Especially DJ Reed.
27:04Twice my size.
27:06Yeah.
27:06Because I've gotten so skinny. I think that's probably the thing I've got to probably gain some weight, my wife says.
27:11No, that's totally true. Just by the timeout called by Pittsburgh.
27:22That'll be their last one, which wasn't a big deal when they were up by two scores, but gets very uncomfortable.
27:30Great. Tracy W.
27:31Jim, the Steelers could use a long drive here because after that touchdown by the Lions, this defense was gassed.
27:38There's oxygen being taken on the sideline.
27:41Cam Hayward wasn't even in the game on that touchdown because he was so gassed.
27:46So certainly they could use the offense to stay on the field here and give them time to regroup.
27:52Meantime, the Detroit defense needs to make a stop.
27:55Now, they could hold them to a field goal and still be mathematically in the game at eight.
28:02And for the people who joined us, that did not look like that was going to happen about five minutes ago in this game.
28:11You might know the real time.
28:12But the run fits are the issue.
28:16They've got to be able to get the run fits on defense and figure that out because it's coming.
28:22They run Smith behind them and they toss it to the tight end.
28:27Lining up at the back, they've got a flag out as he takes it for about 10 yards.
28:32This is a big call right here.
28:33Holding number 98, defense, five yards will be added to the end of the play.
28:43Automatic first down.
28:44Wow.
28:48DJ Reader, this defense for the last month just can't stop anybody, Tony.
28:53Well, so much of it, that's just Sean McVay being Sean McVay.
28:58But today, it's these safeties.
29:01You've got to remember how many guys are out for the season and the run fits.
29:04I keep talking about it.
29:05They've just not held up.
29:07They are not in their position.
29:08Now, I do think Shepard has done a great job adjusting today, but not in the run game in the second half.
29:15They gave up 519 to the Rams.
29:19Now you see over 470.
29:20They're going to go right back to this, Jim.
29:22Cover one.
29:23We're going back to who we are.
29:24Tigers have stripes.
29:25Here they come.
29:28That's Gainwell.
29:29And there's a play made.
29:31That's McNeil.
29:32McNeil with the stop.
29:35You've got a plan coming into a game.
29:36You tried to do it.
29:38But here's the funny part.
29:40Everyone right here, they didn't want to do this.
29:43Go ahead and run that.
29:44They're going to play the run.
29:46They always overload the box.
29:49And coordinators and quarterbacks know we can throw the ball down the field.
29:53Not now.
29:54They're going to go back to who they are.
29:55Goff just wants a chance with it being a one-score game.
30:03Wants a chance.
30:04Can the defense do something here with 2.25 to go?
30:08Second and 11.
30:08To Gainwell.
30:14He's got about three.
30:15He's going to have a third and eight coming up and a timeout call right here by the Lions.
30:20Left with one now.
30:22Well, we have a moment tonight on CBS.
30:2560 Minutes.
30:27Treks to Mount Everest.
30:29Then a CBS News special.
30:30Rob Reiner.
30:32Scenes from a life.
30:33Followed by the finale of The Road plus Boston Blue tonight on CBS.
30:39Third and eight.
30:42We've seen so many conversions today by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
30:46A number that were third and ten plus.
30:51They've got a running back who ripped off two 45-yard touchdown runs.
30:55The first Pittsburgh running back to do that.
30:58Two rushes of 45 yards plus in a game since Frenchie Fuqua 55 years ago.
31:04So this is a monster play.
31:07Game's over if they get the first down.
31:10Third and eight.
31:11Pressure.
31:23Rodgers heaves it and it's thrown away.
31:27I'm not so sure.
31:29It's the first time I've seen today, Jim.
31:32That the veteran might have made a mistake.
31:36Run into the pocket.
31:38Move up three yards and take a sack.
31:40Throwing it away gives them an extra timeout.
31:452.09 to go and out comes Boswell to try to make it an eight-point lead.
31:51It's going to be a 36-yard attempt.
31:53Because if he takes a sack, it goes down to two minutes.
31:56Now.
31:59I'd be making sure that they return this kickoff because you're trying to hope it gets down under two minutes so they don't get two timeouts.
32:06Another Detroit defender.
32:10This is Avante Maddox.
32:12Who's been solid after all the injuries.
32:14They can ill afford that.
32:16You've been talking over and over again about the safeties.
32:18Just remind our audience that they had one of the great tandems in the league coming into the season.
32:23Maybe as good as any.
32:24Ryan Branch and Kirby Joseph as well.
32:29Both out for the year.
32:30He's wobbly as he heads back to the sideline.
32:48And now.
32:48Boswell trying to make it an eight-point lead.
32:53He's already made one from 59.
32:56One off his career long.
32:58One from 23.
32:59This is going to be 37 yards.
33:02With Waitman on the hold.
33:05Coulins would snap it back.
33:06And the kick by Boswell.
33:08Oh, no!
33:10No good!
33:11No good!
33:16Wow.
33:17This place is rocking.
33:21Snap was a little low.
33:24Arthur Smith.
33:26But Danny Smith.
33:27Not loving it.
33:30Big thud.
33:32We can hear it from up here.
33:33And the Steelers are rejected.
33:36And now if Detroit can drive down the field and win it with a touchdown.
33:41Assuming there's no time left for Pittsburgh to do anything.
33:45If they're able to do that.
33:49Goff's given his chance.
33:51He was begging for it.
33:58There you go.
33:59Your low snap, Tony.
34:00That affects it.
34:07Here we go, Joe.
34:09I was hoping to hear that one more time.
34:11From the 27.
34:13Hand off Gibbs.
34:14He got him by the uniform.
34:19And he's going to be dropped for another loss.
34:21Take us to the two-minute warning.
34:25Going to come down to the wire.
34:27Right to the finish.
34:28Steelers and Lions.
34:29Everyone united and standing for these last two minutes.
34:37Including Santa and the Grinch.
34:39A reminder to kick off Patriots and Ravens.
34:41Kicks off at 8.22 on NBC.
34:43Here's a second and 13.
34:45Oh, that's wide of the mark.
34:47Now you've got a third and 13.
34:50Zylstra was the target.
34:52Well, Sawyer, the defensive end basically, is going to guard the tight end.
34:57He's in for T.J. Watt.
34:59And they did the zone blitz.
35:02And impressive by the fourth-round pick from Ohio State.
35:07He's got a couple of flash plays today.
35:09Not exactly ideal right here for the Lions.
35:15These first two plays after getting the big break off the missed field goal.
35:20He's got two plays to pick up 13 yards and stay in it.
35:25Duff, right there, picks up 12 to Zylstra.
35:29Now you've got to have a fourth and two.
35:35He's going to take his time to make sure they get everybody aligned for this one.
35:40Game comes down to this play right now.
35:42Pittsburgh emptying the bucket with all their blitzes and pressures.
35:46Duff reads this one out.
35:48There was a low on the way.
35:51And I think he caught it.
35:53That's close.
35:55That is close.
35:56Definitely contact with the ground there.
35:59Was it a controlled reception?
36:02Was it under control by Zylstra?
36:04Seems to right there.
36:06But it has an arm underneath it.
36:08A hand underneath it.
36:11I mean, huge decision here as this is being looked at.
36:15Will it be fourth and two?
36:18Previous players under review.
36:21All right, Gene.
36:23I don't know.
36:23What do you see here?
36:24Really, really close, Jim.
36:27I see Zylstra when he's tucking it away.
36:29That left hand does seem to be underneath of it.
36:32But then from one other angle, when he's starting to roll that hand underneath, there is some contact with the ground and the ball.
36:39This is a pretty good angle there.
36:40And then there, you see almost that the football kind of moves the second time.
36:46So, really, really close play.
36:49Wouldn't want to just jump out there now and say it's independent, you know, just completely conclusive that it is a catch.
36:57He is controlling it there.
36:59But we see that second bump right there, guys, where I don't know if that's the football laying down.
37:03Now, remember, it has to be conclusive to overturn.
37:07To me, that doesn't jump off the screen as an incompletion.
37:10And again, he did have a hand underneath it on the other end of the football, on the far nose.
37:16So, it'll be the fourth and 13 or fourth and 12, depending on how the officials see it.
37:24Fourth and 13 and a fourth and two.
37:27Fourth and two would certainly be manageable.
37:30The ruling on the field stands as called.
37:34But, Gene, I think you had it.
37:35I think it had to be.
37:37It was so close, they probably couldn't overturn it there.
37:40Yeah, Jim, I think you stay within those parameters when you get to plays like this.
37:44And I think that's a good job by replay.
37:46Okay, here you go, Tony.
37:47Fourth and two.
37:50I think they're going for it.
37:52I like it.
37:55The biggest thing is how aggressive do you want to be if you're Pittsburgh?
37:58You can end the game right now, but you could also give up an explosive.
38:02I think you kind of play this like simulated pressure that they've been doing.
38:06But you've got to be protective of a big play.
38:08Make them still drive the field.
38:10Amara in motion.
38:13Stay in the game.
38:14Got to pick up a first.
38:15Down the middle.
38:16Tip.
38:17Incomplete.
38:18The Steelers make the play.
38:20Oh, the flag comes out.
38:21Two of them late.
38:23Duggar was on the coverage of Jamison Williams.
38:31This is the correct call.
38:33You can see it in real time.
38:34Duggar gets there just barely early.
38:38And this is that aggressiveness I talk about.
38:40Do you want to end the game right now?
38:42Take a look right here.
38:43Pass interference.
38:43Number 29 defense.
38:46False place at the spot of the foul.
38:47Automatic.
38:49First down.
38:49That was pretty revealing, that replay right there, Gene Steratore.
38:53From the end zone, you can see the right arm by Duggar.
38:56And he's turning the receiver, Jim.
38:58So not just a hand there, materially affecting.
39:01With that restriction with the right arm, that's a really good call.
39:11Duggar, who made the play for the safety at the start of the second half.
39:14It was a 14-yard penalty.
39:21And they got a new set of downs.
39:24They have one timeout in the pocket with 1.24 to go.
39:29Goff has thrown for 158 yards in this quarter.
39:333.22 for the day.
39:35On first down.
39:40He is dropped.
39:42With flags down.
39:44He is dropped at the 39-yard line.
39:48Are they calling holding or tripping?
39:49Personal foul.
39:50Tripping.
39:51Number 56.
39:53Defense.
39:5415-yard penalty.
39:55Automatic.
39:56First down.
39:57You can see Highsmith.
40:01He knew it right after he did it.
40:03Right here.
40:05Sticks his foot out.
40:06If it's accidental, it's okay.
40:09But not when you decide to go, hey, no, don't go that way.
40:12Get over here.
40:12He can't do that.
40:13And then...
40:15Watch Highsmith's reaction.
40:19He's going to go, no, after he does this.
40:22He's like, oh, why did I do that?
40:25That will bring the football, Tony, all the way to the Steelers' 36-yard line.
40:30Monster call right there.
40:34And like I said, Highsmith knew it.
40:36Yep.
40:401.19 to play.
40:43Goff in trouble.
40:44And that ball deflected.
40:47Highsmith again with the pressure.
40:49I mean, Highsmith has played an outstanding football game today.
40:55Just watch on this left side.
40:58He's going against...
40:59These are two outstanding tackles, premier tackles.
41:03And he pushes Decker right back in to Goff.
41:08And if you needed a guy to show up today, it was him having T.J. Watt and her big out.
41:15Gibbs lines up wide to the right.
41:18Now they're going to bring him in.
41:19And nobody motions with him, so you know it's zoned.
41:23Over to Amon Ra.
41:25Amon Ra.
41:25He's got a blocker out in front.
41:27Amon Ra to the 20.
41:28Being pushed from behind.
41:30And he's down to the 10-yard line as we approach a minute to go.
41:37Egg Walken.
41:38And the new center was out there helping throw a great block.
41:42Picks up 24.
41:42What a play call.
41:45And a big moment.
41:46Inside 50 seconds to go.
41:49Goff to the end zone.
41:50And that's in the direction of Tesla.
41:54Now, they ran to the line of scrimmage.
41:57Did they have to be that chaotic right there?
42:00Well, I think what happens, you'll see the motion.
42:02Gibbs goes.
42:03Penny Sewell gets out.
42:05And he's able to get up on the corner.
42:06But it's really the perfect play call versus the coverage.
42:10Give Dan Campbell credit.
42:12But to get up there that quick, Jim, to your point,
42:14it was mostly because you can catch them not being able to get a play call in.
42:19And they had a chance, but they ran cover zero.
42:22Good throwaway.
42:23And down here with Amon Ra.
42:24St. Brown's first reception of the half.
42:27Down to the 12.
42:28For a second and 10.
42:30And cover zero means everyone blitzes.
42:32No help.
42:32Barely got that off in time.
42:34Tesla to the 10, to the 5, and down to the 1-yard line.
42:39Patrick Queen kept them out of the end zone.
42:41I'd get up quick right now and run a play.
42:43Don't use the timeout.
42:44Get up on the ball.
42:45Hand the ball off, then use the timeout.
42:47Again, Steelers, if they get any time,
42:49they'll have no timeouts to play with.
42:51Here with 25 seconds.
42:53Goff rolling, rolling, and throwing.
42:54Wide open.
42:55St. Brown with the touchdown.
42:58And the Lions have come all the way back.
43:02There is a flag.
43:16Could they be calling a pick?
43:17Last interference.
43:18Number 18, offense.
43:2010-yard penalty.
43:22Replay first down.
43:23Wow, after this place went wild.
43:29Duggar is late to come down
43:31because they're blitzing everyone.
43:33So now he's got to get out there
43:35and cover the flat,
43:36and it's a pick by the offense.
43:41That will back them
43:43to the 11-yard line
43:45with 22 seconds.
43:47They still have that timeout
43:49to play with
43:5111 yards from victory.
43:53Looking like cover zero again, Jim,
43:58which means all-out pressure.
43:59And it just got a little more difficult.
44:01Number 65.
44:03Offense.
44:04Five-yard penalty.
44:05Fish down.
44:06The center flinched on this one.
44:07And back to the 16 they go.
44:10And this happens
44:11when everyone starts to run up there
44:12to blitz
44:12because you're like,
44:13oh, I don't know.
44:14How am I going to get to my guy?
44:16Take a look.
44:17As everyone comes running up
44:19on the outside-inside
44:20and there is the flinch.
44:22Who said it was going to be easy
44:23from the 16?
44:25First and goal,
44:2622 seconds.
44:27They got to back out here.
44:29Across the middle.
44:30They've got Gibbs.
44:31He's tackled at the 8-yard line.
44:35They don't take it.
44:36They better hurry up and take it.
44:37They do.
44:40At 13 seconds.
44:44Maybe they'll put a second
44:45or two back on the clock.
44:47I thought I saw them calling for it
44:48sooner.
44:50They just had 16 seconds,
44:52so they do.
44:53They had three seconds.
44:55Look at this.
44:55Under Tomlin never lost
44:57when leading by at least 12 points
44:59in the fourth quarter.
45:00And they led with five minutes
45:02to go by 12.
45:04I don't think we're getting a tie today.
45:07It's the only time ever.
45:10What a game.
45:13Just a crazy week in the NFL.
45:17Wackiest year ever.
45:18It's been spectacular to watch.
45:21Is there another phenomenal comeback
45:23to go into the books?
45:26Lions need it, to say the least.
45:28They have no timeouts.
45:30Clock reset at 16.
45:31Second and goal.
45:34They're nine yards away.
45:38Goff retreats to the 15.
45:41Looking.
45:42Fires.
45:43Incomplete.
45:44Nothing was there.
45:46Camus and Williams was a couple of steps
45:47to the right of that throw.
45:50Pittsburgh elected to drop eight guys.
45:52Only three guys are rushing.
45:54Goff right here knows
45:56with the time on the clock
45:58that he can't run up
46:01and get tackled right at the five.
46:03The game would be over.
46:05Aaron, you can see
46:06the nerves, seasons, everything.
46:10Here it comes.
46:12Cannot run the ball as a quarterback.
46:13Cannot take a sack.
46:14Now, 11 seconds.
46:19Goff.
46:20Looking, looking.
46:22Back at the end zone.
46:23Oh, incomplete.
46:25Incomplete.
46:27Tesla, who makes all these acrobatic catches,
46:30had one earlier today,
46:32had it for just a sliver of a second.
46:35This was an incredible throw by Goff
46:38and almost an incredible catch
46:39because that's what you're going to have to do
46:42in this situation
46:43because they're dropping everybody.
46:46Wow.
46:46Okay, Tony.
46:48It's all...
46:48People say that.
46:49It all comes down to this.
46:51This is what they really are talking about.
46:53This situation right here.
46:54The king of the fourth downs.
46:57Campbell and the Lions.
46:59Can they pull it off
47:00with the season and the balance?
47:02Goff fires at the one.
47:06He didn't get across,
47:06but there are flags down.
47:08Ball ends up in the hands.
47:10Goff.
47:11He goes across.
47:12Did they have a whistle first?
47:16There's so many things on this level
47:17that I just saw.
47:18Could be offensive pass interference, actually.
47:21And then they actually did score.
47:23When did the whistle get blown?
47:25Too much for me.
47:26You go ahead, Jim.
47:27This is like the two-point play
47:29in Seattle the other night.
47:30Yeah, exactly.
47:30What is going on here?
47:32This could be on the offense.
47:35I know everyone expects it to be on the defense.
47:37I'm just saying it could be.
47:41Steeler bench is out onto the field.
47:43I mean, they basically are
47:45like ready to walk in
47:47as if they've won it
47:49and heading home for a victory.
47:51Is this going to be a call
47:53against Pittsburgh
47:54to keep this game alive?
47:58Goff is making an appeal.
48:01Probably wanted to point out,
48:02hey, I scooped up the ball
48:03and scored anyway.
48:04They're explaining it now to Jared.
48:20He's got all these possibilities, Tony,
48:34including offensive pass interference,
48:36which some believe on that Pittsburgh sideline
48:39that that's going to be the call,
48:40which would be the game over
48:41because Amonra didn't score anyway.
48:46So this is getting all kinds of looks,
48:48I'm sure, from New York as well.
48:50It's being reviewed.
48:54And then Goff ended up with the football.
48:56Will this be the play
48:58that will usurp the crazy two-point conversion
49:00by Seattle?
49:01Is that possible?
49:03Rogers thinks it's over.
49:05They're discussing it
49:06because it's a unique rule.
49:11They're looking up here.
49:12I think they're going to call
49:12offensive pass interference.
49:14Let's hear the call right here.
49:20What a major call.
49:22The ruling on the field
49:22is a touchdown, however.
49:24Pass interference,
49:26number 14,
49:27on the offense.
49:29By rule,
49:30that penalty
49:31is not enforced
49:33and there is no replay.
49:35The game is over.
49:36There is no touchdown.
49:38Whoa!
49:40OPI
49:40on number 14
49:41negates the penalty.
49:43There is no replay.
49:44The game is over.
49:49The OPI
49:51ends it.
49:51They even conceded, Gene,
49:53that Goff had scored a touchdown.
49:55As bizarre as it gets.
49:58Yeah, 100%.
49:59In the NFL,
50:00offensive fouls
50:01with time expired
50:02do not extend.
50:03I was looking to see
50:05and they may have been discussing
50:06whether there was progress
50:08on St. Brown
50:09and whether there was time
50:10but once Carl Sheffert
50:11said the ruling was
50:13touchdown,
50:14we knew that time had expired.
50:15You see the OPI
50:16by St. Brown there
50:17and as I said,
50:19the play,
50:19the game was at zero
50:20whenever Goff scored
50:22so that is end of game.
50:24You don't extend
50:24on offensive penalties
50:25with zeros on the clock.
50:27You know,
50:27the players are still
50:28standing on the field.
50:30The Lions players
50:30are looking up
50:31at the big board
50:32watching the replay
50:33over and over again
50:35and incredulous
50:37trying to figure out
50:39what just happened.
50:40How about the effort
50:40right there, by the way,
50:42and the presence of mind
50:43for Goff
50:44to fly into the end zone
50:46all for naught.
50:50I just sit here
50:51and watch this
50:52and you say,
50:53I mean,
50:55this is such
50:55a huge moment
50:58for seasons
51:00for these teams
51:01and all of a sudden
51:02St. Brown doing that
51:03Jalen Ramsey
51:04going to the nickel
51:05because Echols was out.
51:07What a game
51:07by him right there.
51:11Tracy,
51:12it's all yours.
51:13I mean,
51:13Aaron and I
51:14are in disbelief
51:15down here.
51:16How would you describe
51:17that one, Aaron?
51:19Chaos.
51:19I mean,
51:20I was a part of a game
51:2113 years ago
51:22that had this kind
51:23of chaos.
51:24with some replacement
51:25referees, though.
51:27I mean,
51:28just watching it now.
51:31Looks like there's
51:31no P.I.
51:32Looks like he's stopped.
51:34Ford Progress
51:35has stopped.
51:36But a lot of crazy game.
51:37We had another P.I.
51:38on the touchdown.
51:39So,
51:40happy to get a win.
51:40We played great
51:41in the second half
51:42on offense.
51:43Picked up our defense
51:44and they came up
51:44with a big stop.
51:45What is it about
51:46this offense right now?
51:47It seems to be clicking
51:48at just the right time.
51:51We can come at you
51:52a lot of different ways.
51:53We ran for 200 yards today.
51:56Jalen had a fantastic game,
51:58but we had some fly sweeps
51:59to Kenny,
52:00to Jonu.
52:01We had some tosses
52:01to Jonu.
52:02Art was mixing it up
52:03really well.
52:04Guys battled
52:04through some injuries.
52:06Thought Dylan played
52:06really good at left tackle.
52:08Spence was battling
52:09some injuries.
52:10DK made some plays.
52:11Adam Thielen
52:12made some big plays.
52:13We were waiving
52:13on third down today.
52:14And, you know,
52:15we should have scored
52:16more points
52:16because we had a touchdown
52:17taken off the board.
52:18Didn't convert another
52:19one down here,
52:20but feels good to win.
52:21Everybody's picking us
52:22to lose, right?
52:23There you go.
52:24But how can you take this
52:26in terms of going down
52:27the stretch of the season
52:29and trying to make
52:29it into the playoffs?
52:31I'll tell you,
52:31we're going to enjoy this one.
52:33I'm going to enjoy this
52:34because I've played here
52:35a lot of years.
52:36Had some incredible memories,
52:38especially 10 years ago
52:39in this stadium.
52:42But I'm going to enjoy this one
52:43and we're going to turn on
52:44the Sunday night game
52:45and root for the Patriots.
52:47You deserve this.
52:47Enjoy it.
52:48Thank you, Trent.
52:48Great summation.
52:50Great job by Aaron Rodgers today.
52:52He had the Motown miracle
52:53and today some Motown magic.
52:55As you look at the AFC
52:56playoff picture,
52:57the Steelers go to 9-6.
53:01And next week,
53:01we'll play at Cleveland.
53:03Meanwhile,
53:03on the NFC side,
53:05by virtue of the Lions losing,
53:08guess what?
53:08The Bears and the 49ers
53:10are in the playoffs.
53:12They are in
53:13and the Lions' hopes
53:14and the Lions' hopes
53:14are hanging by
53:16a thread.
53:18A frayed thread.
53:21Just barely.
53:22The fans in the NFL right here.
53:23Patriots and Ravens
53:24are coming up on NBC.
53:26Just a wild finish.
53:31That ended it right there,
53:32basically.
53:32Everything that followed
53:33didn't matter.
53:35The push-up by St. Brown.
53:38The Steelers have won
53:40three in a row
53:40at Baltimore
53:42against Miami
53:43at Detroit.
53:46Tonight on CBS
53:46begins with 60 minutes
53:48for Tony and Tracy
53:49and Gene.
53:49Jim Nansing
53:50so long from Detroit.
53:51Merry Christmas, everyone.
53:53You've been watching
53:53the NFL on CBS.
