00:30Sarah, thank you very much. Tough day for Arizona. Carter on the run. He breaks through and Bates has to take him down just short of midfield. This run game having its best outing in a long while for Arizona.
00:43Well, one thing that's good to see back is Yelda Froholt at center and watch as they kind of paved the way on that left-hand side to create the seam for Michael Carter. That's twice now they've run that play for a big game.
01:00Carter, who's averaging just over three yards a carry this year, breaks that off for 21.
01:11And they'll hand it off again, and that gets swallowed up by Lakeo London. Just engulfed Carter.
01:22And he won off the snap of the football with immediate penetration. Take a look right here.
01:26And that's a tough task for John Gaines and left guard to try to reach him. He's already got him by his alignment before the snap of the football.
01:38After this play, Sarah will have an update on Buda Baker. First, second, and 13.
01:48Brissett on the throw. Got it for the tight end Higgins. It'll be third down coming up. He and Ellis spin around, and we go down to Sarah.
01:56And Jason, Buda Baker is being evaluated for a concussion, so he's still back in the locker room, but we'll keep you monitored on his status.
02:05Sarah, thank you. Appreciate that.
02:08One play later, she says she's going to get an update. She's got the update.
02:12She's fast. She's fast.
02:14That's all that tennis she's been playing.
02:16That's the same, falling back and forth.
02:18Line to line. Third down at eight for Arizona for midfield.
02:26It's Higgins again. Elijah Higgins. First down, Arizona.
02:39Xavier Watts saved the day, gained a 25. If they're going to cover McBride, go to the other guy.
02:44Well, James Pierce and Jalen Walker both line up on the same side, on the same side as Higgins.
02:48So a lot of attention from these three going this way, and Higgins chips and then releases out into space.
02:53It's the second time now Higgins has chipped, released, and found a bunch of space for a big game today.
03:04Came in with 20 catches all year. Former sixth-round pick of Miami.
03:12The motion, Wilson.
03:14And handed to Carter, a little counteraction, and he gets smoked in the backfield.
03:22Carter hit by Onyemada, among others.
03:24Natron Brooks as well.
03:26Hey, there's some more great football coming your way in the Trust and Will Holiday Bowl.
03:31Should be some points.
03:32Noah Fafita in Arizona against SMU.
03:35Don't miss a perennial barn burner.
03:37It's January 2nd this year.
03:397.30 Eastern on Fox.
03:42We saw Arizona a couple times this year.
03:44That is a dynamic offense.
03:46They were a much better team than they were giving credit this season.
03:49Same can be said for SMU.
03:55Brissette with Pierce bearing down on him.
03:57Throw for the end zone.
03:59Incomplete for Harrison.
04:01Terrell was right there pawing at the ball.
04:04It's third down.
04:05You've got to come up with this if you're Marvin Harrison Jr.
04:09He had a step.
04:11It's not a perfect throw.
04:13He's got to figure out a way of using that 6'3 frame.
04:16Terrell's got his body turned.
04:17Really doesn't react back to it.
04:18Just goes right through his hands.
04:21This is why you were drafted number four overall to make these sorts of plays.
04:29There was some contact early.
04:32But that was a playable ball, certainly, as you said.
04:35Third down, Brissette.
04:40Team Mercado puts it on the ground.
04:42And Arizona, they're going to say that's a backward pass.
04:47So they're going to lose a couple yards.
04:49I thought for sure that was going to be incomplete.
04:51It should be.
04:52It is incomplete.
04:52It is incomplete after they talk it over.
04:53Yeah, that's clearly incomplete.
04:56But the officials let that play.
05:00So this will be a field goal.
05:01Yeah, he threw this forward by a couple yards.
05:04Yeah, it really wasn't close.
05:05But third and long, trying to find somewhat of a safe play to maybe get you to pick up that first down.
05:10But if not, still keeps you in field goal range.
05:13Chance to tie things up.
05:17Chad Ryland has been a weapon from 50 and 51 and 25.
05:23He clanged the upright from 50 at the end of the half.
05:27This to tie from 44.
05:31And it leaks again.
05:33No good.
05:33Atlanta hangs on to the lead.
05:47Wide right for the tie for Ryland.
05:58Welcome back to State Farm Stadium here in Arizona.
06:01Aerial coverage brought to you by Lucas Oil on this spectacular day.
06:07Spectacular enough to have the roof open in December as the Cardinals try to console Chad Ryland,
06:13who's missed for the eighth time this year.
06:16Three makes, two misses today.
06:18And he struggled in his career.
06:192023 had the lowest field goal percentage in the NFL for those qualifying.
06:24Play action for Cousins.
06:27And he'll throw Robinson open.
06:29B'Jawn Robinson breaks a tackle for nine.
06:33Simon eventually takes it down.
06:35He's now 12 yards short of 2,000 from scrimmage for the year.
06:40We heard Sarah Kustak talk about her conversation with Jonathan Gannon
06:44and finding ways of covering up B'Jawn Robinson out of the backfield.
06:48Watch his number 27, Akeem Davis-Gaithers.
06:50He's out there in space.
06:51Cousins, go that way.
06:53There you go.
06:54And that little change in improvisation was the difference in that completion.
07:01Right back there.
07:02Stretch play.
07:03Robinson breaks free.
07:05Changing direction.
07:06And now on the gas pedal for a first down.
07:09He has just become the third Falcon ever to have 2,000 yards from scrimmage in a season.
07:19I mean, watch how smooth this is.
07:21It's like he doesn't even break stride.
07:23And it's change of direction, a quick little jump cut, and he's out the back door.
07:28It's like liquid.
07:29It's like watching liquid run.
07:32That's one way of putting it.
07:33So fluid, though.
07:34It's not a jagged cut all the time.
07:37There's elements that remind me of Saquon.
07:39There's elements that remind me of Barry Sanders.
07:41I mean, he is such an incredible talent.
07:45Returning home here to Arizona.
07:48Now it's Algier.
07:49Change of pace.
07:51And it's second down.
07:52A guy I played with that the way he's able to continue to accelerate or stay at top-end speed through cuts is a guy named Jamal Charles,
07:59who had incredible, you know, yards per attempt, but very similar, former Texas back as well.
08:05But just the way they could change direction and still maintain their speed to be able to outrun the defense.
08:12Because John Robinson feels so good, he just declined oxygen.
08:15Somebody tried to hand him one of those oxygen cannons.
08:18He's like, I'm good.
08:18We got enough air here.
08:19Second down.
08:23It's a run.
08:24It's Algier breaking the first tackle from Tomlinson and then pushing the pile forward nearly to the first down marker.
08:32Yeah, that could have been a lot more if not for Dalvin Tomlinson.
08:36Breaking through and stymieing Algier a bit before he could get going.
08:41I say change of pace on Algier, but they're both so tough to take down.
08:45It's thunder and thunder in a lot of ways.
08:47Yeah, that's a good way of putting it, for how physical both backs are.
08:52Algier a bit bigger of the two.
08:57He thrives in short range, and he hops into a cut there and tries to crawl behind Quitoriano and Warner.
09:06And that's going to be very close.
09:08They say first down.
09:11First down, Atlanta.
09:15That was a lot of hopping and cutting.
09:17To be able to get only a couple yards there.
09:19I wasn't sure if he was going to make it.
09:20Yeah, point A to point B.
09:21There was no straight line there.
09:23But you see Robinson.
09:25It was Jamal Anderson and William Andrews together in the 2,000 yard from scrimmage club.
09:31They are joined now by Bajon Robinson.
09:34Looking for the first Falcon win at the Cardinals since 2001.
09:39Play action, Pitts is free, and he's down the sideline, ushered out by Davis Gaither.
09:46So easy for Kirk Cousins out of that play action.
09:49And they run so much outside zone running, so you fake one way where Robinson has all your attention,
09:54and you just boot back around, and there's Kyle Pitts.
09:56Another incredible talent running in the open space.
10:01That should do it for quarter number three.
10:04This is the year of the tight end.
10:06More yards per game receiving for tight ends in any other year.
10:12Pitts and McBride and the Falcons and Cardinals.
10:15Close one going to the fourth.
10:17At Burger King, you write the rules of value.
10:24You rule number 10, I mix and match my way.
10:27There's seven tasty items, and I can get two for five or three for seven.
10:31That's all up to me.
10:32The $5 duo or $7 trio.
10:34From Burger King classics to fan fames.
10:36Choose your deal.
10:38Taxes is feeling unwelcome.
10:42Now Taxes is an open door to new TurboTax stores.
10:45Meet our experts.
10:47They do your taxes, so you can walk out with confidence.
10:51Now this is Taxes.
10:57I'm Johnny Knoxville.
10:59This is Fear Factor, House of Fear.
11:05Low scoring third quarter, Atlanta by three on a field goal from Zane Gonzalez.
11:111916, the Falcons over the Cardinals.
11:14Atlanta driving against this Arizona defense, trying to hold the line in the red zone.
11:23Atlanta's going to have a second down and short coming up.
11:26Buda Baker is back into the game.
11:28It's safety after going to the 10th in the third quarter.
11:32Cousins swinging out wide.
11:40Robinson secure hands on the catch and a first down.
11:43He put the shoulder into Denzel Burke.
11:46And it's first and goal.
11:48Just so much space.
11:50Easy play design.
11:51You've got two receivers running traffic.
11:52Just trying to stop Cody Simon from running out to Robinson.
11:57He's fortunate.
11:58Ohio State Buckeyes.
12:00Denzel Burke and Cody Simon.
12:02They're getting up to get Robinson out of bounds, but not before he got the first down.
12:05Yeah, it was Sills and Mooney both coming across from that receiver spot you're talking about.
12:13Modified pistol here.
12:15Robinson the tailback.
12:17De'John Robinson stop at a jump cut, and he's dragged out.
12:21Darius Robinson in there first.
12:24Arizona came into the game in the bottom seven in the league, and tackles for loss or no gain,
12:30but they've made a couple plays to set Atlanta back.
12:33Loss of three.
12:33And Darius Robinson's had himself somewhat of a day.
12:37He's had some struggles throughout the course of the season, but this time getting past one of the better guards in the league,
12:41Chris Lindstrom, to do it.
12:43It's a three-time Pro Bowler.
12:46He beat there three straight All-Pro teams as well for Lindstrom.
12:49London part of that bunch, along with Pitts.
12:56Mooney motions out of it up top.
12:59Cousins play action.
13:01Scanning, throwing, end zone.
13:04Pitts could not make the catch.
13:06He was open.
13:06The defender fell, and there's a marker in at the one.
13:10I thought Cousins was looking there the whole time, and Pitts was open for about ten minutes.
13:15A lot of traffic, though, that he was running through.
13:18He wouldn't.
13:21Interesting to see what the call's going to be.
13:25Holding.
13:27Defense number 42.
13:29Half the distance to the goal.
13:30Automatic first down.
13:32Going to get Taylor Demerson on the hold.
13:34And you've got a lineup that's a six-foot-three David Sills out there, a six-foot-six Kyle Pitts,
13:46and a Drake London, a six-foot-four.
13:48A lot of tall bodies.
13:51Okay, there you go.
13:51I'll just say it didn't feel like Taylor Demerson was in that mix.
13:56It looked like Johnson, who fell, was grabbing at Pitts.
13:59He was stricken from his record.
14:03It's Robinson on the handoff looking for his second score, and he goes down short of the goal line.
14:10It'll be second down and goal coming up.
14:11Taylor Demerson credited with the tackle along with Simon.
14:15A good job, though, by B.J. Ojolari for setting the edge, forcing B.J. Robinson to cut back inside.
14:23Barnals have been intent in the second half of not allowing Robinson, at least in the run game, to get out on the edges.
14:29Atlanta, as you might expect, pretty good in the red zone scoring touchdowns as Robinson comes out for a play.
14:36They're 11th in the league in red zone touchdown percentage.
14:38London up top, matched up with Johnson.
14:43Pitts at the bottom.
14:45Algier the tailback.
14:47Tyler Algier reaching for the end zone.
14:49A marker in.
14:50He's down at the one.
14:52See if it's a hole.
14:55It's a heck of a play by Akeem Davis Gaither.
15:00Looks like it's going against Arizona.
15:01In the area, sometimes you see illegal hands to the face or a hold on the defensive line.
15:11Holding.
15:13Defense.
15:14Half an instant to the goal.
15:15Automatic first down.
15:17We've given up on numbers now.
15:19Yeah.
15:21A few mistakes.
15:24Let's take another look.
15:26All right.
15:27This is where we did an hour game.
15:29This is maybe Tomlin's in there.
15:3070 is reported as eligible.
15:32Number 70 is eligible.
15:34We'll never know.
15:35The world may never know.
15:36Jake Matthews is eligible.
15:40It's the 10th play of the drive for Atlanta.
15:42Their fourth 10-play-plus drive.
15:45Keep an eye on Jake Matthews.
15:52Throw it that way.
15:53Oh, no.
15:54Bring it in.
15:55Oh, man.
15:58The longest start streak in the NFL.
16:01Trying to feed the beast.
16:03And he just claimed it.
16:05Every offensive lineman's dream.
16:08And Jake Matthews with the ball.
16:11Right in his face.
16:12A little high.
16:13But, oh, man.
16:14Oh, he's got too much athleticism in his family, folks, to not catch that football.
16:21It's not perfect, but you had two guys free rushing on Cousins.
16:24Come on, man.
16:26Well, you have to.
16:27Oh, he's talking.
16:28Yeah, yeah.
16:28Let's not read the episode.
16:29That was the right time to cut to that shot.
16:33All the feelings.
16:34They're just going to go ahead and run it in.
16:37It's a touchdown for Cousins and the Falcons.
16:42They wanted to give it to the left tackle.
16:49Instead, they're going to go ahead and sneak it with their 14th year quarterback.
16:55Yeah, he's in, right?
17:01Yeah.
17:01That's easy.
17:03Drake London had the call first.
17:06It's good to see we can run an old-fashioned quarterback sneak and we don't have to make a big deal about it.
17:11No one has to necessarily push him from behind.
17:14So Kirk Cousins, yeah, this is exactly right.
17:16Nobody's got to lay down flat on the ground to try to stop it.
17:19Kirk Cousins for the year with that touchdown and the earlier sneak.
17:23Seven carries, 12 yards.
17:25And one of those was a six-yard carry.
17:30Okay.
17:31So six for six, one for six.
17:35And an Atlanta touchdown, another clock-eating drive.
17:396-14 off the timer.
17:43And it could have been a mantelpiece for Jake Matthews, but instead his quarterback had to do it himself.
17:50Oh, Mr. Hallway, you can see every couple tries to stop.
17:56He plays 66 yards, another long drive for Atlanta in 6-14.
18:01We almost had a tackle-eligible touchdown, but that's not in the holiday spirit evidently for Atlanta.
18:09No fun before Christmas, right?
18:12Great opportunity for Jake Matthews.
18:14Unfortunately, didn't quite work it out.
18:16I'm not sure I'll get another chance, though.
18:17I mean, 193 games, right?
18:20Like, the longest start streak in the NFL, a decade-plus to get that chance.
18:26There's so many linemen out there who are jealous of him.
18:29He can't get over it.
18:30I mean, it's the only opportunity he gets.
18:38He'll be reliving this for the rest of his life.
18:43Oh, that's great.
18:44We have seen a smile kind of crack across his face, but I don't know that he's in that kind of mood right now.
18:51Atlanta, though, has taken the lead after standing in the way of Tampa Bay last week up by 10.
18:56And here in Arizona, Sims on the return, had a crease, and he'll go down at the 29.
19:03Before the game today, a number of Cardinals players, including Trey McBride and Jacoby Brissett,
19:08wore special Cardinals Climb t-shirts in support of the team's initiative focused on Arizona's special needs community.
19:15Cardinals Climb, a season-long fundraising effort that will culminate on February 21st right here at State Farm Stadium
19:21as participants hike a series of trails set up throughout the venue.
19:26For more information, please visit cardinalsclimb.com.
19:29The Cardinals have done great things in the community for people with disabilities and the special needs community.
19:35A fantastic effort shifting their attention that direction as Jacoby Brissett fields the pressure
19:41and slings it over the middle incomplete for Sims.
19:43Too hot to handle.
19:45Second down.
19:46And because Jacoby Brissett had to step up, he got his eyes off of Michael Wilson, but Wilson was running across the field, had a lot of green grass.
19:55And that's one of those big plays that's been so elusive for this Cardinals pass game.
20:00Getting your down 10 here in the fourth quarter, you've got to have that.
20:02Yeah, it was a linebacker, Diablo, that was trying to tail Wilson.
20:08A mismatch for Arizona.
20:12Now do they have to mothball the run game, which has been pretty effective.
20:17Carter split out wide.
20:18Brissett over the middle.
20:20We have not seen much of McBride, but Elijah Higgins has been highly effective.
20:25He'll get five, and it's third down.
20:27So Marvin Harrison, Jr. has come back into the lineup.
20:32Trey McBride has only seen two catches.
20:35He has the longest streak ever for a tight end with five catches in a game consecutively at 16 games.
20:43And no better time than right now on third and five.
20:45You know, figuring out a way of, you know, moving him around if you have to, to get an R to make some catches.
20:51It's been too big of a piece of this offense.
20:53They'll motion him here.
21:00Brissett is hit and dropped.
21:04Sacked by Brandon Dorlis.
21:07Second-year man out of Oregon who has his eighth sack of the season.
21:12This relentless defensive line gets a loss of nine.
21:16The Falcons, we talked about it, the depth they have up front.
21:20Once James Pierce working versus Beecham,
21:22he's getting some penetration and Dorlis comes free for the sack.
21:26We're just talking about trying to find a way of getting the ball to Trey McBride.
21:29Colby Brissett wasn't even looking in his direction at that time.
21:32He had him in one-on-one coverage.
21:33He had a beat.
21:35Pressure got there first.
21:36Do you have any information for the Smithsonian?
21:38Because we have the first punt of this game today.
21:42It comes in the fourth quarter.
21:44Hawk to Tompkins.
21:45Devin Tompkins on the return, and he'll end up keeping his balance out of bounds.
21:52The first punt of the game at 10.43 in the fourth quarter.
21:57Atlanta gets it back up 10 when we come back.
22:00To learn how you can help heal hearts one home at a time,
22:11scan the QR code or visit go.fox slash purplehearthomes.
22:15The great Pat Tillman, gone way too soon, honored here in Arizona.
22:23As Atlanta is trying to get its first win at the Cardinals since 2001.
22:31At Sun Devil Stadium, Chris Chandler was the quarterback.
22:34Terrence Mathis, couple of touchdowns.
22:36Algier on the run, squeezing through, and Algier backs his way into 12.
22:42In that game, last time Atlanta won here, Jamal Anderson got hurt.
22:50It was a knee injury early in a game.
22:53Maurice Smith came in, put the ball on the ground, turned it into a flea flicker,
22:58and Terrence Mathis was wide open.
23:00Jake Plummer was under siege all day.
23:03And the Falcons got a 34-14 win.
23:07Ray Buchanan a pick in there as well.
23:09Great Ray Buchanan.
23:10That's a long time ago.
23:13Back at Sun Devil Stadium.
23:16Algier on the toss.
23:18There's a marker in.
23:20Vittoriano on the block at the point of attack, and Simon with the tackle.
23:25The marker's back at the 43.
23:26Illegal formation.
23:36Offense number 71 was uncovered at the end of the line.
23:39Five-yard penalty.
23:40We play first down.
23:41It's on Wilkinson, the former Cardinal.
23:47They're missing a guy on the line of scrimmage here.
23:50So they're going to call it on Elijah Wilkinson.
23:52However, it's not his fault.
23:53Whose job is it?
23:54Well, at the end of the day, it's probably the quarterback.
23:57You've got to make sure you've got all those guys that you need on the line of scrimmage.
23:59You know, and I like how you guys always take responsibility.
24:02The wide receiver should be looking out there, too, and making sure he knows he's supposed to be gone.
24:05Check with the officials.
24:08Just so willingly admit wrongdoing as a quarterback.
24:12Algier, again, is thrown back because you kind of have to.
24:15It's Barron Browning who slung him backward.
24:18It's a gain of two.
24:20Atlanta has soaked up quite a bit of this second half.
24:24The time of possession skewed in a big way to Atlanta, plus about nine minutes in this game.
24:30How many ten-plus play drives have they had so far?
24:32Four of them.
24:33Four.
24:33I mean, it's constantly chomping up the clock and got in the run game going,
24:39had a little bit of everything at times going.
24:40Call it second and 13.
24:46See if they still run it here with Robinson coming back in.
24:49Motioning London.
24:51And Mooney, first touch, and a long while for Mooney out of a spin to the 50-yard line.
24:58This is a small glimpse of what Mooney's capable of doing.
25:02And remember, we had a game earlier this season.
25:04They really wanted to try to get him the ball more and get him going.
25:07He's so explosive, particularly even in short spaces.
25:10But he's not really caught on in part of the way they thought this season.
25:15It got derailed, as season did, with that broken collarbone and training camp.
25:20He's had a case of the drops, too.
25:23Certainly an issue early in the year.
25:25His third down and six out of the bunch.
25:29Robinson is over there.
25:30Throwing his direction.
25:32Robinson behind Pitts.
25:34And he is going to be about a yard short.
25:37Davis Gaither with the stop.
25:40And this, you would imagine, is go time.
25:42You'd think so.
25:43And boy, Drake London took a hit.
25:45The brunt of that from John Robinson at the very end of this play.
25:49And he's subbing himself out.
25:52But yeah, at this point, they've continued to milk the clock up by two scores.
25:58They've snuck Cousins a couple of times today.
26:03Most recently for the touchdown, London on the sideline.
26:07Algier, the tailback.
26:13Motion sills.
26:15Maybe into a timeout here.
26:16We'll see.
26:19Timeout Atlanta at 7.25 in the fourth.
26:22I would imagine they still go for it, though, right?
26:27There's no reason not to try to, you know, get this the way you've been able to convert in short yards so far today.
26:33I mean, Atlanta for the game is averaging over five yards per carry.
26:39Five and three tenths.
26:40They need three quarters of a yard right now, it looks like.
26:44The question's going to be who's going to be carrying the football as a towel out here.
26:47The bigger of the two backs, it's going to be that bigger body they like in short yard situations.
26:53Or do you bring in De'John Robinson, even if he's just window dressing, to attract some attention with the way you formulate this play?
27:01He's over on the sideline.
27:03You saw the extra tight end, Quatoriano in.
27:08Fourth and one.
27:10It's about a half yard, if that, that they need with the spot currently.
27:17That guy really gummed up, and the ball is loose.
27:27Warner ran right into Cousins, who ran into a couple other guys, and Robinson has the football at 7.20 to go.
27:37Just go forward, right?
27:42Arizona has life.
27:47You all tucked in?
27:49Kind of set and create an edge here on saving Collins.
27:51Watch as this play plays out.
27:54He motions up, but then at the snap, Warner's not past him.
27:58It creates confusion in the backfield.
27:59Collins is a free runner, and the ball's fumbled.
28:02Cardinals football and life.
28:07And we'll see if they can feed Trey McBride here.
28:10He has been very quiet in this game.
28:12Carter the tailback.
28:13They'll run it with him on first down.
28:16And he'll end up into Caden Ellis for a handful.
28:19Second down coming up.
28:20It's a two-score game.
28:21You still don't have to junk the run game yet.
28:24No, but, you know, when Trey McBride's in line as a traditional tight end, that's where they run the football the most.
28:29When he's split out anywhere else, that's where he becomes more of a target in the passing game.
28:33Like this, on a throw on second down.
28:36There he is.
28:38Stood up and driven back.
28:40It's going to be third down and short.
28:41Diablo threw him backward.
28:44And quite frankly, they've had that all day when they've wanted it.
28:48In particular, when Atlanta's gone to more zone coverage.
28:51But it doesn't feel like there's been a need to try to get him to football until now.
28:57It's a sneak, and it's straight up the middle, and it goes for a while.
29:00Jacoby Brissett, all the way across the 40-yard line.
29:06You don't have to move with a ton of tempo, but you want to be efficient here.
29:13A couple possessions left.
29:14You figure, although Atlanta has had some real adventures of drives this year, this game,
29:20especially as this is incomplete for Carter.
29:23Second down and 10.
29:26Brandon Dorlis has been a real factor, too, now in this second half.
29:30He's been jogging off the field, but he's been able to get after it in the pass rush.
29:35Big night last night for Brandon Dorlis and the Oregon Ducks.
29:39Yeah.
29:41I don't want someone to say it.
29:41He's too easy of a game, if you will.
29:43You know, as you get to this portion of the field,
29:45you have to wonder, with Ryland's struggles kicking field goals,
29:48you know, how you're viewing the distance of where they're going to kick from
29:52if they have to kick one.
29:53They'll run it here.
29:54Terrell on the hit of Di Mercado.
29:57And it's third down.
29:58Yeah, you do need two scores,
30:00but you have to get that field goal score if you try it.
30:03If you miss, the game's pretty close to over.
30:06Yeah, I think the problem is we've seen Ryland now miss two in a row.
30:09You know, where's his head at?
30:10Where's his confidence at?
30:11Injured Falcon defensively.
30:16Both those misses have faded, by the way, to the right as A.J. Terrell is injured.
30:21They're already playing without Mike Hughes because of an ankle injury.
30:26So it's a ten-point game.
30:27What you're alluding to is end of the first half,
30:30Chad Ryland trying to hand Arizona the lead,
30:33and he clangs it off the upright.
30:35Then the second one faded further.
30:39Yeah, and good snap, good hold.
30:42Clearly something mechanically he's doing.
30:43I was never a kicker at any point in my life,
30:46so I'm not even going to try, but...
30:48I'd be happy to listen to you try.
30:50It's similar to golf, and he's got a bit of a fade on it right now,
30:52and he needs to change his aiming point or something.
30:56See, you got there.
30:58Third down coming up.
31:00But, look, you've lost six in a row.
31:03You want to have some kind of momentum going into an offseason.
31:06You want to show something.
31:07There are a lot of decisions for this team to make
31:09going into the offseason.
31:14Well, press coverage with Bryant at the top of the screen.
31:17Brissette on the throw comes this way,
31:19and Harrison's first catch goes for a first down.
31:22Marvin Harrison Jr. in his return, his first grab, gate of 13.
31:25And he's been on a bit of a pitch count,
31:27but he's working against C.J. Henderson,
31:28who just got signed yesterday up to the active roster,
31:31the former first-round pick.
31:33Number 39 at the bottom of the screen.
31:34It was almost wish he had a go-route there.
31:36Harrison beat him so bad.
31:38McBride's fourth catch,
31:40and he is clubbed by Caden Ellis and company.
31:43Bryant in there as well.
31:44Second down, Atlanta just trying to sap off some time
31:47to lengthen this drive.
31:49And if you're in Arizona,
31:50you've got to start picking up the pace here a bit.
31:54And a bit more aggressive, too,
31:55with your throws towards the end zone.
31:57We've seen Wilson be a touchdown maker for them.
32:04He's at the top of the formation.
32:10Brissette scanning, firing end zone,
32:14incomplete off the hands of McBride.
32:17Jesse Bates was over there with Ellis.
32:20It is third down, Arizona.
32:23So Michael Wilson was to the outside like you talked about.
32:25He kind of clears it out.
32:26Watch McBride off the ball, hesitates,
32:28then releases up to space.
32:29It's a tight window,
32:31but he's got to make that catch.
32:33And then he has Watts bearing down on him.
32:38This ball's in a perfect spot.
32:43Look, that's why you get paid the big bucks.
32:45Yeah.
32:46Would have been his fifth catch.
32:48Instead, it's a third down.
32:49Look for pressure.
32:55Here it comes.
32:56Brissette gets it away,
32:58and it's incomplete.
32:59Bates again on the coverage of McBride.
33:03Excuse me, Bates.
33:05But, yeah, it's two plays in a row.
33:07I mean, clearly, they've got a beat on Trey McBride.
33:09They understand that's where the football,
33:10they want to go with pressure on that side.
33:13You can see the window.
33:16Boy, that's unbelievable coverage by Bates.
33:18Closes in, gets his hand right in between McBride's
33:22to disrupt the pass.
33:24Jesse Bates, such a great ball hawker.
33:28His high school senior year,
33:30he tied Rod Woodson's record in Fort Wayne, Indiana,
33:34for interceptions in a season.
33:37He played the ball beautifully there.
33:38This for Ryland.
33:40He straightens it out from 34.
33:42It is a one-score game again, 26-19.
33:46Here we go again for both of these teams,
33:48and now these messages from State Farm.
33:53Having insurance isn't the same as having State Farm.
33:56It's like needing the leadership of this captain,
33:58but getting that captain.
34:00Eyes by motion on the porch side.
34:02What are we doing?
34:12So don't settle for just any insurance.
34:14When there's State Farm.
34:16Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
34:19All squirrels are coming.
34:2426-19 Atlanta the lead.
34:26Kirk Cousins getting loose in Atlanta,
34:28which again, as you mentioned, Brady,
34:30four drives that have been 10 plays-plus today,
34:33if they rip off one more of those drives,
34:36they can go home with a victory,
34:37their first ever in this stadium.
34:40Trayman's right.
34:41Easier said than done, though.
34:42Easier said than done,
34:43the way this Cardinals team has come out here
34:45in the second half.
34:46They've done a better job of really containing
34:48the run game for the Falcons,
34:50at least getting outside.
34:52And some production in between the tackles,
34:55but for the most part,
34:56we've been able to limit
34:57a lot of the effectiveness
34:59of the outside zone running scheme.
35:02Atlanta under five yards a carry
35:04for the season.
35:06Just overall,
35:07they average more than five yards per play.
35:10The offense has been pretty good at points.
35:11They're 10th in the league in yards per play.
35:14And they'll try to find a couple of first downs
35:17as they get the ball back with 4.37 to go.
35:20Ryland on the approach
35:31and full of touchbacks already today.
35:34And this one goes sailing toward the end zone.
35:37And Tompkins thought about bringing it out
35:40and just at the edge of the cliff took a knee.
35:43He almost breached the end zone there.
35:51The question is,
35:52did the ball
35:52cross the line?
35:59His toe is on the line there,
36:01but he did not leave the end zone.
36:03He had his hand out as if to say,
36:10everybody slow down,
36:11but he was the only one
36:12that needed to squeal the brakes.
36:14And again,
36:14this has been the story
36:15for the Falcons at times this season.
36:18I want to know why they're a 5-1 team.
36:19They have found ways
36:21of losing some of these tight games
36:23in the final moments.
36:25A lead against Carolina
36:26that we saw the week before that
36:27in Berlin against Indianapolis.
36:29They had a lead late
36:30as Buda Baker gets the first hit on Algier.
36:33Davis Gaither as well,
36:35second down and long.
36:37And one-score games,
36:38although they won one
36:39on the Gonzalez field goal last week,
36:42have not been good to Atlanta
36:44in the past couple of years.
36:45Two and five this season.
36:51What they need is the run game
36:53to close this out for them,
36:55although Arizona has three timeouts.
36:57Robinson back on the field.
36:59He's got a first down.
37:01It's Mooney across midfield.
37:05Motion to London.
37:09Play action to Robinson.
37:11Cousins lets it fly.
37:13He's got a first down.
37:15It's Mooney across midfield.
37:19So everyone's thinking
37:20they need to run out the clock.
37:21Robinson comes back in the game.
37:23Let's run the football.
37:25Play action.
37:25Move the pocket off that.
37:27Mooney threatens the defense
37:28with his speed.
37:29That's what creates
37:30all that cushion.
37:31Soft zone.
37:33Cousins puts it right on him.
37:35And now Arizona,
37:36you would imagine,
37:37starts to think about
37:38using those timeouts
37:39on this series of downs.
37:41You want to see how this
37:42first play goes.
37:44Work from there.
37:45It will be around 3-0-8
37:49when Atlanta snaps it.
37:56Algier.
37:58A short game.
38:01Set up second down at eight.
38:03There is the first timeout for Arizona,
38:05which has lost six in a row.
38:07Jonathan Gannon in year number three
38:13has not seen the postseason as yet.
38:16Trying to get a stop
38:18on this run game for Atlanta
38:19and Bajon Robinson's homecoming.
38:21Sarah?
38:22Yeah, Brady can attest
38:23to how important film study is.
38:25And for Bajon,
38:26it began with his grandfather,
38:28Cleo, a Pac-10 official,
38:29would bring home game tapes
38:31for him to watch.
38:32It eventually turned into Bajon
38:34watching YouTube highlights
38:35of all of his favorite running backs
38:38before every single game
38:39or routine he still does.
38:41He said,
38:41it's a lot of the old school guys.
38:43Barry Sanders,
38:44LaDamia Tomlinson,
38:45Adrian Peterson,
38:46Marshall Falk.
38:47He said,
38:47I just try and incorporate
38:49pieces of their game
38:50into mine.
38:50Continue to elevate my game
38:52by emulating it.
38:53And he said,
38:54making people miss in a phone booth,
38:56working in tight spaces,
38:57that is something about my game
38:59that I do not take lightly.
39:01It's like he's a combination
39:02of all those guys.
39:03Yeah, I was going to say,
39:04his first few years, though,
39:05looking very similar
39:06to Damian Tomlinson,
39:07at least in regards
39:08to his production.
39:09How would they utilize him?
39:11Out of the backfield,
39:12LT's such a great pass catcher
39:13for the Chargers.
39:16It's Algier on the run
39:18behind Warner.
39:19Algier hopping his way
39:21into a third down and short
39:23where Atlanta is quite tough.
39:25Now, this is really two plays
39:27to get a yard and a half.
39:29And Jonathan Gannon
39:32not electing to use
39:33the timeout.
39:35Algier has to come off the field.
39:36He had a shoe fall off.
39:38So, John Robinson
39:39will come back into the game,
39:40which,
39:42they're okay with that.
39:43Yeah, as I say,
39:45as far as the Cardinals player
39:46wasn't helping to put a shoe
39:46back on.
39:47Here, loop, swoop, and pull.
39:49Third down and two.
39:51Atlanta's been great
39:54on third down today.
39:58Trying to close out a win
39:59on the road in Arizona.
40:03Robinson is a yard short.
40:07Savin Collins, another stop.
40:09Timeout, Arizona.
40:11One remaining in Atlanta,
40:13you figure,
40:15will go for this.
40:16Now, if you're Zach Robinson,
40:19the offensive coordinator,
40:20last time you had
40:21fourth down and very short,
40:23your quarterback and tight end
40:24ran into each other.
40:24Yeah, don't get cute.
40:26You know, and that's the bottom line.
40:27And that play might not
40:28have been designed
40:28to work out that way,
40:30obviously.
40:31But, you know,
40:32you'd like to be able to think
40:33the way this offensive line
40:34has been able to control
40:35the game for the most part.
40:37In particular,
40:38leading on that left side.
40:39That's where,
40:39throughout the season,
40:40they've had the most production.
40:42One behind that side.
40:43You see them bringing
40:45some additional
40:46offensive linemen.
40:47Jack Nelson, a rookie,
40:49comes in.
40:51It'll be Algier
40:52in the backfield.
40:53And Nelson was just announced
40:54as eligible,
40:55just in case.
40:56I don't think they're going
40:57that well again
40:58after the Matthews.
40:59I'm with you.
41:01Fourth down and one.
41:03Atlanta.
41:09Straight ahead.
41:11Algier rummaging
41:12for the line to gain.
41:13He didn't get there.
41:14He did not get there.
41:16Arizona gets the stop
41:18and will take over
41:19at 2.05 to play.
41:22Down a touchdown.
41:25What a push
41:26by the Cardinals'
41:27defensive front.
41:29The Falcons go tackle over.
41:30They take big Jake Matthews.
41:32They put him on this
41:33right-hand side,
41:33and that's where they're
41:35trying to attempt to target.
41:39Darius Robinson
41:40held the line.
41:41Buda Baker came up
41:43in support as well.
41:47What a surge.
41:48I mean, a team that,
41:53look, they've
41:53on a six-game losing streak.
41:55They've only got three wins
41:56this season.
41:57It's evident they're not
41:58giving up.
41:58Despite the injuries,
41:59despite all the circumstances,
42:01it's awesome to see.
42:02on this defense,
42:04they have gotten to the point
42:05where you can't use the mantra
42:07next man up
42:08because there's no next man
42:09in the secondary
42:10at points in this game,
42:12and Kirk Cousins
42:13and Atlanta
42:13just trying to hang on.
42:16Brissette will give it
42:17to Demercado,
42:18and that will get us
42:20to the two-minute warning.
42:21This is the two-minute warning.
42:22Arizona has 55 yards
42:26to get to try to tie
42:28this ballgame
42:29or think about
42:30taking the lead.
42:31Jacoby Brissette
42:32and the offense
42:33after this.
42:34style
42:39or substance
42:42somehow
42:44it became one
42:46or the other.
42:48But there is
42:49another choice.
42:52Not stopping
42:53until you have everything
42:55in the GMC Sierra.
42:57During the GMC Holiday Event,
42:59get a total value
43:00of over $11,700
43:01on this Sierra 1500 model
43:03when you trade
43:04an ineligible vehicle.
43:05That's 20% below MSRP.
43:09Walmart Express Deliver.
43:10Putting the herd
43:10on the Broncos right now
43:12or other regional action
43:13than in America's
43:14Game of the Week.
43:15Potential Super Bowl preview.
43:18Eagles, Bills.
43:19Eagles, the division winner
43:21in the NFC East.
43:23Buffalo survived Cleveland
43:25earlier today.
43:26That'll be a good one.
43:27Josh Allen against that defense.
43:28But now a seven-point game.
43:30Arizona football,
43:31second and five.
43:32McBride in motion.
43:34He's got four catches.
43:36Five for Higgins,
43:38the other tight end.
43:39Nine of the 14 catches
43:41to tight ends today.
43:43Brissette got it away
43:44for Higgins.
43:46That's his sixth catch
43:48and it's third down.
43:49Clearly a concern
43:50about the edges
43:50for this Cardinals
43:52offensive line
43:52working against
43:53this Falcons pass rush.
43:55James Pierce,
43:55we talked about it.
43:56He's been phenomenal
43:56as a rookie
43:57as has Jalen Walker
43:59on the other side.
44:02But at some point,
44:03both Higgins and McBride
44:05need to get down
44:06the field vertically.
44:07You need a touchdown here.
44:08A minute 54 left
44:09and only one time out.
44:11You saw Walker there.
44:13He's at the bottom
44:13of the formation,
44:15bottom of the defense.
44:17Ellis moving to the slot.
44:19He's trying to switch spots
44:22there with Henderson
44:24and we get a marker in.
44:26It's on Arizona.
44:31Atlanta was totally
44:32out of sorts
44:32defensively, Brady.
44:33They were
44:34and you could hear
44:34Arizona calling out
44:35what it was.
44:36It was going to be
44:36a type of man-to-man coverage
44:37and Jacoby Rissette
44:39is probably looking
44:39at his chops
44:39saying now I can find
44:40my matchup
44:41because of their formation.
44:43And then you see
44:44Josh Fryer,
44:45the left tackle,
44:46the rookie.
44:48Flinch is just enough.
44:49third start this year
44:53as a rookie.
44:56Wilson the motion man.
44:58Brissette third and 11.
44:59Brissette down the middle
45:01got it for Higgins
45:02and the tight end
45:03spins off the tackle
45:04and has the first down.
45:07Diablo couldn't take him down.
45:10Arizona moving
45:11with about 40 to go.
45:12Higgins incredibly
45:13tough runner there
45:14but Bride
45:15was wide open
45:16down the seam.
45:19It was there
45:20right down the hash mark.
45:23Brissette
45:23chucks it far side
45:25and intercepted.
45:28Picked off by Henderson
45:30just activated
45:32this week
45:34for this game.
45:35He rips it off
45:37on the sideline
45:38for Atlanta.
45:39for a guy
45:45who's tied
45:46for the lowest
45:48interception percentage
45:49in NFL history.
45:52The question is
45:54is this going to stand?
45:56He said
45:57working that
45:57one-on-one matchup
45:58on the outside.
45:59He juggles it
46:07does he collect it
46:08in time
46:09before his shoulder
46:10or helmet
46:11hit the sideline
46:12to rule him
46:13out of bounds.
46:14The question is going to be
46:15when did he have control
46:17which equates then
46:18to possession
46:19once he's on the ground
46:20and
46:20I'm not sure he did.
46:22Dean Blandino is here.
46:24Dean the call
46:24on the field
46:25is interception.
46:25What do you see?
46:26So I'm looking
46:28for when does he
46:29gain control
46:30of the football
46:31because he's going
46:31to bobble it initially
46:33and his helmet
46:34touches out of bounds.
46:35To me
46:36he doesn't have control
46:38before that helmet
46:40touches out of bounds.
46:42It's really close.
46:42This will be a good look
46:43there.
46:44They're going to have to
46:44piece a couple of angles
46:45together.
46:46Still doesn't have it.
46:47You can see the hands
46:48off of it
46:49and then he's going
46:50to attempt to gain control
46:51but that helmet
46:52looks like it's touching.
46:54Willing on the field
46:54was an interception
46:55though.
46:56Oh this will be
46:56another good look.
46:59Do those hands
47:01clasping on the ball
47:02Dean constitute
47:03enough control?
47:05That's going to be
47:06the question.
47:07You have to control
47:07it with the hands
47:09either pin it to a body
47:10but the hands and arms
47:11have to be involved
47:12and this may be one
47:14that just the ruling
47:15on the field
47:16is going to win the day
47:18because it's that close.
47:20If I had to lean one way
47:21I'd go incomplete though.
47:22Yeah.
47:23It looks like it moves
47:24again.
47:24He's kind of got
47:25the hands crossed
47:26Dean so it's not
47:27fully pinned
47:28right before that
47:29watch the hands here
47:30they come across.
47:31I think Dean nailed it
47:37that the call on the field
47:38was dispositive there
47:40because the call
47:41was interception
47:42it stays interception
47:44it's the first pick
47:45since 2022
47:47for CJ Henderson
47:49and it looks like
47:51it has put away
47:52the first Atlanta win
47:54ever in this building.
47:57Incredible play
47:57by a player
47:58who obviously
47:59had high aspirations
48:00coming in as a first round pick
48:01and the career
48:02just hasn't quite gone
48:03the way he had hoped
48:04but stepping up
48:07in a big way
48:08for the Falcons
48:10in the final moments.
48:15Atlanta has not won
48:16at the Cardinals
48:17since 2001
48:20there's a kneel down
48:21for Cousins
48:22who put up
48:24huge numbers
48:25last week
48:26at Tampa Bay
48:28he didn't have to clear
48:29200 yards
48:30today
48:31but the defense
48:33did enough
48:34three points
48:36in the second half
48:37for Arizona
48:38and Atlanta
48:39just this piecemeal
48:40secondary
48:41handled an offense
48:43that can really
48:44wing it around the yard
48:45and for the most part
48:46shut down
48:47Trey McBride
48:47yeah
48:48this will end
48:50his streak
48:50of consecutive games
48:52with five catches
48:53at 16
48:55the longest ever
48:56for a tight end
48:57in NFL history
48:58he's also been on pace
49:00to break the single season record
49:02for a tight end
49:03in receptions
49:04and that's obviously
49:05slowed the pace now
49:06what he's going to have to do
49:07in the final weeks
49:08and the frustration
49:10mounts
49:11for a seven straight loss
49:13for Arizona
49:13but for Atlanta
49:15a team that was
49:16star-crossed
49:17in the middle of the year
49:18some close losses
49:19they
49:20make franchise history
49:22in a way
49:23today
49:23with their first win
49:25in this stadium
49:27and their first win
49:28at the Cardinals
49:29in 24 years
49:3226-19
49:35C.J. Henderson
49:36in a Falcons jersey
49:39just the last couple of days
49:41gets the win
49:42for Atlanta
49:4326-19
49:44as we return to Arizona
49:46to wrap up today's game
49:47right after these messages
49:48you came to the right
