09:47there's going to be nobody in the middle of the field.

09:57You see Chase Brown and Joe Flacco.

11:17of giving Flacco on this offense the ball
11:20with three timeouts with excellent, excellent chance
11:24of getting another at least three points right before half.

13:14But quite honestly, Spiro, I am impressed with how Justin Fields has responded.
13:21I think this is the best I've seen him play this season.
13:25And after the week and the last three weeks that he's had, to me, I think he's come out
13:31and he's been outstanding.
13:32And right now, he's got a great opportunity to try to get something out of this drive before half.
13:39Fields from the gun on second and five.
13:42This is going to be another first down for the Jets.
13:44Isaiah Williams, boy, playing himself into this offensive pickup of 11.
13:49Clock running 26 seconds.
13:51Fields will get them to the line of scrimmage.
13:53They'll spike it, stop the clock 24 seconds so they still have that timeout left.
13:59Once you get inside about 18 seconds or so, then you run the risk of, can I get, and you
14:08don't have a timeout, if they would have burned their timeout, then you run the risk of, can
14:12we get our scramble field goal out there with enough time if, for some reason, we take a sack
14:18or we catch the ball inbounds without being able to stop the clock.
14:22But they keep the timeout in their back pocket, so now they still can throw the ball anywhere
14:27on the field and still have a chance to set up for field goal.
14:30On second down, Fields, everyone covered, going to run for it out of bounds, will pick up
14:36three, maybe four.
14:38So that'll stop the clock.

19:39Well, listen, I think Flacco in the Bengals' offense has been almost unstoppable.
19:43They just cannot, the Jets cannot win in one-on-one situations.
19:47And, listen, I think I'm impressed with the way the Jets have come out today.
19:51I'm impressed with what Justin Fields have done, especially without Garrett Wilson,
19:56without Josh Reynolds, with all the noise, everything that's gone on in the last two weeks,
20:02especially this last week.
20:04I really thought he's come out, and the offense has played much better than expected.
20:10Evan McPherson puts it in play.
20:14Marion Smith is going to field it inside the five-yard line.

20:20And a nifty return a couple of seconds ago.

20:31How do you assess what you have seen, and what more do you need now with the ball?
20:34Well, I think he's playing with confidence.
20:36I think our offense is doing a really good job of moving the ball.
20:38I mean, obviously we've got to stop him on defense.
20:40You know, we know who their two guys are.
20:41We've got to make sure we contain those guys.
20:43Listen, we get the ball, you know, as far as the second half.
20:45You know, if we go down, get us a score, get us a stop, man, we're good.

20:53All right, Aditi, Aaron Glenn, how would he navigate what has been just a nightmare rookie season?
20:59And as an NFL head coach, everything that they've had to contend with, the mounting losses this week,
21:04he had his owner weighing in on the quarterback situation for the Jets at the owners' meetings in New York.
21:10This was the quote from Woody that really sent some alerts around the building and raised some eyebrows.
21:16But despite all of that, Arch, you know, here comes Justin Fields.
21:20Everyone talks about how stoic he is, how strong-willed he is as a player.
21:25And he has put it all behind him.
21:28Yeah, it's one thing to say it.
21:29And do you actually believe it?
21:31And can he actually block it out?
21:33Put all that behind him and come out here and perform.
21:37And so far in this first half, it seems he's been able to do that.
21:42Fields, right back to the air, a little bit high.
21:45This was the version of Justin Fields that they had in mind when they made the decision to part ways with Aaron Rodgers,
21:52give Fields that $30 million guaranteed contract to come and take the reins at the quarterback.
21:57The hope was they could resurrect his career, build off what he did last year with the Steelers.
22:02Listen, things started well in their first game against the Steelers.
22:07And then he gets hurt with the concussion.
22:09And then, you know, what happened in the last two weeks, it kind of spiraled out of control.
22:17But he's starting to get back on track.
22:19This is a big, big half of football for him and this Jets team here.
22:23Third and seven.
22:24They protect him here.
22:25They're going to get a first down.
22:26It's Davis, plenty of real estate in front of him.
22:31No flags down.
22:32And the Jets pick up where they left off.
22:35That 11-play drive that resulted in a field goal to close the first half.
22:39Davis rings him up for 26.
22:42All right, there's no pass rush whatsoever.
22:44And this is a mesh concept designed to beat man-to-man coverage.
22:48Really a well-designed play.
22:52Beats man-to-man coverage.
22:54And Fields is able to just sit there cleanly in that pocket with nice calmness.

23:00And get the ball out to pick up a first down on third and long.
23:03Well, how different does this offensive operation look for the Jets?

23:13Mason Taylor takes a hard hit.
23:16And it looks like Demetrius Knight still in pain.
23:18He's still down for Cincinnati.
23:19And it's going to get the athletic trainers onto the field for the Bengals.
23:24Well, that was an all-world collision.
23:26As both of those two players sacrificing their bodies.
23:30Another concern on the young rookie Knight.
23:37Unable to brace his fault just barely with that right arm.
23:41And Knight is still down for Cincinnati.

23:49Looks like Demetrius Knight is okay.

24:21He's finally given up.

24:23And the Bengals tell us he will not return today.
24:26All right, Aditi.
24:27That's tough news.
24:28We watched Hendrickson, Arch.
24:30Very, very gingerly limp his way into the locker room at the end of the first half.
24:35This was it.
24:36And you can clearly tell that something is not right with that same hip injury that had him on the shelf last week.
24:41And he's clearly the most important player on this Bengals defense.
24:47And without him on the field, the pressure drops significantly.
24:51Third and six.
24:52Pocket muddies Fields trying to get a little jump pass.
24:56But it's going to fall incomplete on a third and six.
24:59Closest jet was Arian Smith.
25:01And that play did not look good right from the start.
25:08Well, one of the only times we've really seen any sort of pressure coming off of Fields' right side.
25:14And so he feels that pressure and then tries to make something happen, but wisely throws it to the ground and avoids a potential interception.
25:23Outside of the field goal range, so no choice but to play here with McNamara.
25:30So another impressive Jets drive stalls out just after they cross midfield on Cincinnati's side.
25:36Not the man trying to keep this thing out of the end zone.

27:40Something that Aaron Glenn is hoping for this Jets team as well.
27:42Well, just think about it.
27:43Because if you're Zach Taylor, and, listen, they had a chance to get a generational-type quarterback in Joe Burrow.
27:52And so you think, oh, my goodness.
27:54We're set up for the next how many years.
27:56But, you know, because of, you know, the injuries to Burrow and being up and down,
28:01he's had to manage a lot of highs and a lot of lows.
28:06But you typically don't see when you've got a quarterback like Burrow.
28:09You know, side-arm flick with Flacco there as the Jets were giving chase.
28:15And, again, this Jets defense, Arch, last couple of weeks after some early season struggles,
28:19some of the missing pieces that they've had.
28:22Trying to keep this thing within striking distance as they get off the field, force a 3-and-out.
28:26Well, I think this was an important drive for the Jets defense.
28:30Because, let's face it, in the first half you gave up 24 points,
28:33and you really didn't have an answer.
28:34You lost almost all of your one-on-one matchups against this offense.
28:38And to be able to come out here after halftime, get a 3-and-out,
28:42give the ball back to your offense, to me, that is a really good start for this defense.

30:06Why the success so far for Fields in this game?
30:09Well, I think it starts with protection.
30:12He's had a very clean pocket.
30:14But he really excelled today in the intermediate passing game.
30:18And to me, this is about as decisive as we've seen him.
30:24You know, the last couple games, a lot of indecision.
30:27A lot of second-guessing himself.
30:29But in the first half, for the most part, he's throwing the ball on time and on target.
30:34Back to the ground game.
30:35Boy, I think he can balance it out with Breeze Hall.
30:37That'll help them even more.
30:39Breeze Hall picks up eight to get some of that penalty yardage back for the Jets as they cross the 15-yard line.
30:45Yeah, I would have thought that at least early in this game, that in the run game,
30:49Breeze Hall would have had a little bit more success.
30:52Now he's ran the ball ten times for 32 yards.
30:55That's only a 3.2 average.
30:57And this defense has had a hard time giving up some explosive runs in the run game.

32:57And I just talked about how Brees Hall hasn't been effective, even though this defense have given up explosive runs this season.

33:08But that run could not have come at a better time.

33:19Tanner Engstrand kind of intimated in our conversation at the Jets Hotel yesterday that we would see a little bit more, maybe, of Isaiah Davis.
33:27As the young second-year running back, pick last year at a South Dakota state with the longest run of his two-year career.

33:40As Davis back onto the field for the Jets.

33:46Again, a Jets offense that had gone two straight weeks without a touchdown.

34:35But, you know, Taylor Britt's a guy that, you know, they really, if they want to get back to playing the type of aggressive defense that Al Golden wants to play.
34:43More man-to-man, more aggressive.
34:46But they really need the best version of Taylor Britt to show up.
34:49For the urgency level, really high right now for the Jets.
34:52Desperately trying to get into the end zone.

34:56As we cross the seven-minute mark now in this third quarter.

34:59Well, the good thing for the Jets is that, you know, after really not getting much in the first half, their run game has come to life a little bit in this half.
35:08You saw the big run by Isaiah Davis.
35:10You just saw another good run from Brees Hall.
35:13Again, Justin Fields and his legs are a big factor.
35:16So that should really help you here as you get into this tight red area to try to punch it in for six.
35:30Fake handoff Fields.
35:32Close it out the back of the end zone.
35:35And it will be third and goal coming up for New York.
35:38That's just good discipline on the edge from the Bengals.
35:41You know, just trying to get Justin Fields with a chance to run a naked bootleg.
35:47And there's just nowhere to go.
35:48He has to throw that football away.
35:52You know, last time on their touchdown that they scored in the first half on third down in the red zone.
35:59Al Goldin, the defensive coordinator for the Bengals.

36:05And Justin Fields was able to spot it, get it out, and make a perfect throw.
36:10Looks like this could be another pressure situation.

36:54bit more aggressive, but trying to pick our spots with some of the youth that they have.
36:59And they could not have timed that blitz more perfectly.

40:00is his ability to take the complex because coaches and players, they like to complicate things,
40:06overcomplicate things, and be able to break it down to its lowest common denominator so he can go out there and process fast.

40:22Boy, it was Michael Clemens who had him wrapped up somehow.

40:36because if he sees you're back to the quarterback, he's going to kill you with his legs.
40:41That is not what you say when you play Joe Flacco.
40:44But the Jets, undisciplined in their pass rush, and he says, hey, why not?

40:52Just make sure you don't pop a hamstring or the cap
40:56because that's what happens when you get over 40 and you play football and pickleball.

42:49Quinnen Williams has been one of the best defensive tackles.
42:52Jermaine Johnson is a guy that can get a high pressure rate.
42:55McDonald is a guy.
42:56But collectively, they haven't been able to affect Flacco.
