00:00I know you just sat down with the new starting quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts,
00:03former Giants, embattled quarterback, Daniel Jones.
00:06It's funny with Daniel.
00:08There's two separate camps on him.
00:10The one camp is, was never his fault.
00:13Obviously, he had the one playoff win against Minnesota on the road.
00:16Saquon had a great game that day as well.
00:18He just never had a good offensive line, never had weapons, coaching, all that stuff.
00:22The other side is, he ain't any good.
00:24You spent time with him.
00:26He is the starting quarterback in Indy.
00:28What's your just overall take on where he's at?
00:30The first thing I asked him, Craig, was, were you set up for success in New York?
00:34Yep.
00:35And I was really curious to see what he said.
00:37And he said, a lot of the onus is on me.
00:40I did not play well enough.
00:42And ultimately, the quarterback is responsible for winning and losing.
00:46He did say, obviously, there were injuries, but the onus is on me.
00:50And I thought that was pretty cool.
00:53I wasn't expecting him to necessarily go there.
00:55And then I said, what's the difference between Indy and New York?
00:58And he said, obviously, the markets are drastically different.
01:01The attention is different.
01:02The attention.
01:03But I think if it's going to happen for Daniel, it needs to happen now.
01:08And the reason I think it could is because of his relationship with Shane Steichen, who
01:12obviously did a lot for Jalen Hurts.
01:14Right.
01:15Did not work out yet with Anthony Richardson.
01:17Daniel goes there, gets paid about 15 million bucks.
01:19He wins the job and he played golf with Shane that day.
01:23And I said, what is the connection with Shane?
01:25And he just said, schematically, he's tremendous.
01:28But there's a lot of trust that he's developed with him that I think could play a significant
01:32role.
01:33Yeah, I was always in the camp.
01:34I think he could be a good quarterback.
01:36He's never going to be a top 10 quarterback.
01:38Nor do you have to be, by the way, you know, to have success.
01:40And my gut was when Indy signed him.
01:43I thought it was a really smart signing because I don't think they really believed in Anthony
01:48Richardson, he's got some ridiculous freak athletic talent, but you got to also have
01:52the ability to understand how to read your defense and how to not rely just on your ability
01:57to run and throw the ball into tight windows and all that nonsense.
02:01So I thought they signed Daniel to make him the number one quarterback.
02:05Now, if Anthony had beat him out, even better.
02:07Now you've got two quarterbacks, you have a backup.
