00:00More football tonight, Joe.
00:01Love to see it on a Friday.
00:03Are you interested at all the battle of Illinois, Western Illinois and Illinois?
00:07A 45.5-point spread with a 63.5 total.
00:13What's this score looking like at the half?
00:15I doubt it's 3-0 like the Wisconsin game yesterday.
00:18Yeah, well, because Western Illinois is one of these up-tempo teams, honey.
00:23So they could be 3-and-out rather quickly.
00:25Illinois could have a whole lot of opportunities to run away with this game and run away big time.
00:32Listen, if you're going to lay crazy numbers, do it early in the season.
00:37This is the time that you're going to want to do it because this is your best chance of teams actually going ahead and getting it done.
00:44I don't think Western Illinois, I don't think that game's going to be all that competitive.
00:48Although Rutgers didn't think Ohio was going to be all that competitive either yesterday.
00:51How about that? Parker Navarro and the boys maybe send some shockwaves through the MAAC this year.
00:56MAAC, always a fun, certainly, conference to watch it play out.
01:00But when we get to some of the big boys tonight, 8 p.m. start tonight, Auburn, the Tigers on the road to take on the Baylor Bears.
01:07This line opened up as a 2.5-point favorite here towards Auburn.
01:10You still see it sitting at 2.5.
01:12Some other outlets have moved to 2s and 1.5s depending on where you're shopping at.
01:15But a total that's also increasing, by the way, 56.5 at the opening number.
01:19We're now seeing 58.5s, Joe, two big-time schools getting after it week number one.
01:24Yeah, no, I'd say you've got to love that, too.
01:26You know, at a conference, teams, and we have seen this, Donnie, a lot.
01:31And we've seen opportunities to jump on those home dogs at a conference here.
01:37I mean, listen, Hugh Freeze, not exactly working out all that well there in Auburn.
01:42Careful what you wish for.
01:43Dave Aranda was almost fired last year at Baylor until he ripped off a whole lot of wins there to end the season.
01:50So you've got to like Baylor's chances of coming out at home, playing some defense against an SEC team.
01:58I think it's going to be great.
01:59But the Auburn Tigers are not what the Auburn Tigers used to be.
02:03I've got to tell you, the game of the night for me is going to be that Colorado-Georgia Tech game, Joe.
02:07There's a lot of intrigue here.
02:08No more Shador Sanders here.
02:10Caden Salter's going to take over.
02:11What's Deion's new-look football team, but also Georgia Tech with the Haynes and Haynes in the backfield.
02:16I'm telling you last night, I loved a running quarterback there in USF to get in, and Brown scored a touchdown.
02:21Haynes King, he's going to score a touchdown on the ground himself at the quarterback position.
02:2551.5 to 52s as the number in this game.
02:28Georgia Tech is a favorite, Joe.
02:29Right around a 4.5-point spread at just about every outlet here.
02:32What are we seeing tonight?
02:33But no, I see quarterback running it in for Georgia Tech.
02:36Touchdown!
02:36Put it on the board.
02:37Listen, do not underestimate Colorado in Colorado.
02:43I know the overwhelming thought is Colorado's going to take a step back,
02:48and Georgia Tech somehow is going to take this big step forward.
02:52But in the altitude, game one, Colorado against a Deion coach team is always dangerous.
03:00You ain't seen nothing on Friday night.
03:02What way do you see this weekend's card that we preview next right here on the Early Live?
03:07Sports Grid Network, the place to be during college football season, pro football season.
03:11Heck, any season right now.
03:13As we roll along, it's on the right side.
03:14It's Joe Ranieri.
03:15We've been waiting for a game like this.
03:20By the way, do you know what song I'm singing right there?
03:21It's a parody, Joe.
03:22Come on.
03:22Coming to your life.
03:25There we go.
03:26See that?
03:26Now we're connecting, Joe, because we've got a monster game on Saturday.
03:29It kicks off at noon.
03:31We don't have to wait any longer.
03:33It's Ohio State, and it's Texas.
03:35And just to take a look at the game board in this,
03:36opened up around that two-and-a-half spread over the summer.
03:39We're now seeing one-and-a-halves and down to ones.
03:42The money coming in on Texas.
03:44Will Texas wind up being the favorite by the time we get to kick off tomorrow?
03:48We'll find out.
03:49But, Joe, there are some interesting statistics that we take a look at here,
03:52which were tweeted out by Fox.
03:54How will Julian Sayan perform against the number one-ranked Longhorns?
03:57Did you know Joe Ranieri?
03:580-16 quarterback starting debuts versus number one opponents since 2010.
04:04Oh, boy.
04:06That ain't a good look, Joe.
04:08No, it's not.
04:09But how many of those 0-16 quarterbacks played their game at the shoe
04:15and had Jeremiah Smith as a wide receiver catch the ball?
04:20Yeah.
04:20Yeah, no.
04:21Yeah, no, no.
04:22So that's a nice number, but that means absolutely nothing here at this point.
04:27Listen, I think this is a toss-up game between these two teams.
04:31Yes, there's a lot of question marks at Ohio State, but is there really – are we really
04:38going to be shocked if Ohio State at home with Julian Sayan and Jeremiah Smith and all the
04:44other new faces there – are we really going to be shocked that they actually win this game
04:49at home because I would not be in any way, shape, or form?
04:53I think this is going to be a great game.
04:55I don't think either of these two teams – whatever we get tomorrow, Donnie,
05:00these will not be the same teams in October.
05:04So keep that in mind.
05:05Both these teams will likely get better as the season progresses, which is why I think – I
05:12don't think either of these teams are going for broke in this game, in game one.
05:16I like the under in this game a lot because you've got two quarterback – first road start
05:22for Manning.
05:23You just mentioned it, Julian Sayan.
05:26This is his first start period in college here, but they both have a ton of experienced weapons.
05:32But I don't think either coach is going to allow the quarterbacks to bury them here.
05:36I would expect more.
05:38We're going to bully you.
05:40We're going to run the ball down your throat.
05:41The defenses are going to step up.
05:43I think the under is a much better play than trying to figure out which one of these teams,
05:48coin flip-wise, is going to win this game.
05:51Always so talented.
05:52Always so great with recruiting.
05:54You look at the roster talent comparison, 14 five-stars to Texas, 11 there to Ohio State,
05:59four-star players.
06:00Ohio State has 56 four-star players on the roster.
06:05Like, if you're not up on recruiting data and how that works out, like, getting a four-star
06:08is a really big deal for a university.
06:10They have 56 of them on the roster.
06:13So as Joe points out, yes, you're a quarterback.
06:15You will be under pressure.
06:17You're at home.
06:17That makes some sense.
06:18You're going against a really good team.
06:19I get it.
06:20But when everybody you hand off to or throw to are four- and five-star athletes, they
06:24do a lot of the work for you.
06:26How good do you actually have to be?
06:28But Joe was also right about this.
06:29This is game number one.
06:30And with the advent of, obviously, the expanded playoff, it used to be whoever lost this game,
06:35you're probably not going to get into the playoff picture, which is crazy.
06:37The loser of this game, they might be a buy-on team.
06:40Because that team will learn from this, unless, Joe, right, Ohio State 36-7 over Texas.
06:45Then, whoa, like, what's the deal here?
06:47But if you're looking at a game anticipated from the oddsmakers, Joe, to be roughly a field
06:51goal or less, we're expecting a close game.
06:54The loser of this is still going to make the playoffs for me.
06:56The winner of this just has a leg up and has that beauty pageant win to open the season.
07:01Absolutely, yeah.
07:02And I think the goal of both of these coaches is to take these young quarterbacks here.
07:08And, yes, while Manning has played some snaps here at Texas, he's never started a game,
07:14gone into the shoe, and expected to beat a top-five team and the defending champion,
07:19Ohio State Buckeyes.
07:21So I think both coaches, Sarkeesian and Ryan Day, are not going to ask these guys.
07:27Or mistakes by young quarterbacks always kill teams here.
07:31So I think they are going to avoid just airing it out, letting these guys do their thing,
07:37because both defenses are capable of turning this game upside down.
07:41So I would expect maybe a little more conservative look early in the season from both these offenses.
07:4812 o'clock, Joe, ready to roll.
07:51By the way, you know it's going to be on from 10 to 12 tomorrow morning, setting the table
07:54for your college football day.
07:55It's me and Joe Lisi on SportsGrid College Football Today.
07:58Don't you miss out.
07:59We'll take you right up to kickoff tomorrow.
08:01But also, other kickoffs this weekend, Joe, that you've got to get involved with,
08:05which includes a Saturday tussle from Death Valley.
08:08One team traveling from Death Valley.
08:10Two play in another Death Valley.
08:11It's LSU and it's Clemson.
08:12This line opened up at 3.5, Joe.
08:14FanDuel sits at 3.5.
08:15Everybody else has moved to 4 as a favor towards the Clemson Tigers.
08:2057.5 is the total across the board.
08:23We're getting under the lights.
08:24A top-10 battle to start the season.
08:26You've got to love that.
08:27Listen, I think LSU is going to have a good season with Brian Cohen.
08:33The schedule is absolutely brutal for LSU, by the way, especially they've got to go into
08:40the other Death Valley now and they've got a Clemson team with four new starters on the
08:46offensive line, LSU, against a absolutely rebuilt and monstrous front for Clemson.
08:55And Clemson's biggest issue last year with Dabo was the defensive side of the ball,
09:00especially not being able to stop the run.
09:03They addressed that for the first time.
09:05Dabo, who was always big about not going into the portal, you know, we mold our guys,
09:11we bring them along.
09:12He went into the portal, guys, and he rebuilt that defense.
09:16This looks a lot like the Clemson championship teams.
09:21Stud quarterback, Heisman hopeful, everyone's favorite.
09:24Running game, returning wide receivers, offensive line returns.
09:30This is a tough spot for LSU.
09:32Not to mention Nussmeier has missed some practices because there is word that it might be a knee
09:37issue for new offensive linemen and a quarterback that might be hobbled a little bit.
09:42Yeah, I'll take Clemson all day to start the season off.
09:45Let me get Brian Kelly smashing his hammered hand down.
09:49Boom!
09:49At the press conference postgame.
09:50Ah, we gave it up tonight.
09:52I'm so mad at my football team.
09:54They haven't been off the good starts here.
09:55They need to get a win, but a tough place to play at Clemson.
09:58And we're always better.
09:59Like, when Clemson is good and Dabo's getting angry, that's fun.
10:02When callers are calling into Dabo's radio show and yelling at him, that's fun.
10:05We got to get Clemson back on that top line here.
10:08Get him in the playoffs and start wreaking some havoc here once again.
10:11But how about this game on Sunday night?
10:12I believe Joe Neri is going to be in the building, Hard Rock Stadium.
10:15The Catholics and the convicts, Notre Dame and Miami, the new addition.
10:19Minus two and a half point favorite for Notre Dame on the road and a total that sits at 49 and a half.
10:25Boy, center stage, standalone game, Sunday night, Labor Day weekend.
10:30We're all going to be watching.
10:32And Joe's going to be in the building.
10:32I mean, listen, this is, again, a lot of unknowns here.
10:40A new quarterback for both teams here, right?
10:44CJ Carr, redshirt freshman.
10:46But he's been in the system.
10:48He is a dual threat quarterback.
10:51Carson Beck at 30 years old.
10:53Yeah, good luck here.
10:55You know, coaching edge to Notre Dame in a big, big way here.
10:59Because Mario Cristobal, for all the hype around him, Donnie, the guy is one of the worst in-game coaches there is.
11:07He figures out ways to put his team in a position to lose games.
11:12That is not going to happen on the Notre Dame side here.
11:16I like Notre Dame.
11:18Proven commodity.
11:19Been there.
11:20They restocked better than anybody.
11:22I expect Notre Dame.
11:24I think it's going to be close, but I expect a better coach to win this game.
11:28And that's on the Notre Dame sideline.
11:30Let me slide down here.
11:32Let's go to some passing props here.
11:34Carson Beck over 239.5 in that game, Joe.
11:36Check.
11:37Passing touchdowns.
11:38Carson Beck over 1.5.
11:39Check.
11:40CJ Carr, 186 under.
11:42CJ Carr over 1.5 touchdown passes under.
11:44That's where we're going on this game.
11:46It's all about Miami.
11:47Look at my background right there.
11:48Can I get the right hand here?
11:49No, it's this hand right here.
11:50Look who's back there.
11:51That's the Ibis.
11:52That's the Ibis right there back there, hugging the fanatic.
11:55We're Miami fans in this house.
11:56Look at the Miami book on the bottom line down there.
11:58Cane, Mutiny, and also a Miami book right next to it, Joe.
12:01We're Miami'd up.
12:02You need to be on board.
12:03You can't be in South Florida rooting for Notre Dame and betting Notre Dame.
12:06It's not allowed.
12:07It's not allowed.
12:08I know.
12:08It's disgusting.
12:09But I refuse, Donnie, in this household, to lose one more dollar banking on Mario Cristobal,
12:15putting his team in a position to win against another good team.
12:19Not happening.
12:21It's college football.
12:22It's week number one.
12:23The appetizer last week, week zero.
12:24How does it play into week number one?
12:26Well, the one thing we do know is a lot of these football teams, we haven't seen play
12:29just yet.
12:30And that's going to count for some of these odds on the move, as we like to say.
12:34And we've already seen a lot of big odds moves.
12:36How about yesterday?
12:37Akron, plus nine and a half versus Wyoming.
12:40Got bet down to five and a half.
12:41Didn't matter.
12:42Double digit win here in a shutout for Wyoming on the road.
12:45FAU at Maryland, plus 17 and a half.
12:48Now that's down to 14 and a half.
12:50Clemson, minus three, up to minus four.
12:52And TCU, which we're going to get to in just a few moments, from a minus one and a half
12:55to a three, three and a half, depending on what you're looking at here.
12:59Lines will be on the move a lot during the season, but no greater, probably, Joe, than
13:02week number one, where we just don't have an opinion on how these teams are going to
13:06actually work out on the field.
13:08Yeah.
13:09I mean, tread lightly here.
13:11It's, you know, you've, you're, we still don't know.
13:14And if we don't know, guess what?
13:16The books don't know.
13:17So what we've seen already in just the handful of games in week zero and so far last night
13:23week one is that the books kind of, we're getting some inflated numbers with home favorites
13:29for sure in spots.
13:32So that will continue through the first week, Donnie, simply because take the TCU North
13:37Carolina game.
13:39There's 70 new players on the field for North Carolina.
13:43How in the world is anybody going to know, including TCU and the sports books, what we're
13:48getting from North Carolina in game one?
13:51By the way, just an odd timeline too, for Carolina and also Bill Belichick, like once thought to
13:56be the brightest mind in the history of the national football league bounced unceremoniously.
14:02I got fired.
14:03No, I didn't.
14:03We have a mutual agreement.
14:05No, it wasn't like, we're never going to get the story.
14:06And then it just seemed like Robert Kraft picked up the phone and goes, we're all owners here.
14:10I'm going to ask you a favor.
14:11Don't you dare hire this guy.
14:13He cannot coach them the NFL game.
14:15And he went from the hottest coaching commodity in the NFL where anybody would be happy to
14:19barely getting interviews in the NFL and nobody wanted to.
14:22And then instead of lining up saying, well, I can just pick whatever college institution
14:26I want to go to ends up in North Carolina.
14:28And here we are for opening night on Monday night football.
14:31And I love the fact that college football put this game on a standalone on Monday on Labor
14:35Day because we will watch.
14:36We want to see what happens.
14:38We want to see if his girlfriend is on the sideline with a headset on coaching the defensive
14:41or defensive backs.
14:42We're just making sure that the Gatorade is all squared away and clear on the sideline.
14:47But make no mistake about it.
14:48North Carolina are underdogs in this game against TCU at a minus three and a half.
14:52What are the expectations for you, Joe, for Bill Belichick and his first game on Chapel
14:58Hill?
14:59Well, he's got a very favorable schedule coming his way.
15:03And if it's one thing, and I'll just base everything off the fact that if I'm Belichick,
15:08I have no interest in taking a job in college for the first time because I'm planning on
15:14losing a lot.
15:15The schedule here, a lot of this is going to be about one sideline is going to have way
15:22more experience and better coaching than the other sideline.
15:26So I do think he's going to win more games than people think.
15:30The question is, with 70 new players on the team here, what are we going to get?
15:36Two left-handed quarterbacks.
15:38They changed the surface, by the way, in the stadium.
15:42Remember, they used to have the turf there.
15:44He has grass installed now.
15:46And why is that?
15:47Something tells me UNC is going to shorten games.
15:50There's going to be a lot of power running with North Carolina this season and no air raid
15:55situation.
15:56There's no Drake May throwing for 4,000 yards.
16:00That I don't think is going to happen with North Carolina this year.
16:03Yeah, no.
16:04And by the way, I'll tell you what's interesting, too.
16:07It's like TCU keeps getting caught up in these coaching hires for the opposite side.
16:12Like, hey, TCU opening game.
16:14Well, we got Deion.
16:14Good luck.
16:15That didn't work out too well at this point.
16:16Now TCU's like, wait, we got to go on the road here.
16:18And now we're going to play North Carolina.
16:20And it's Bill Belichick.
16:21We'll see how it turns out.
16:22But they are the favorites in that game.
16:23We'll see how it plays up.
16:24An exciting weekend overall in college football.
16:27No doubt about it.
16:28By the way, I just want to bring up this topic.
16:30NFL, before we get to hour number two, not about the games itself.
16:33Did you catch a whiff, Joe Ranieri, of these rivalry uniforms that the NFL is putting out?
16:39Have you seen any of those on Twitter or X?
16:43Yeah, I have, in fact.
16:46And I had a friend of mine send me a version of what the Jets one looks like.
16:51And it basically looks like it's just like holes.
16:54And it's just absolutely a train wreck.
16:56But, yes, you know, once again, the NFL trying to create – it's all sales because, you know, Donnie, how many guys are going to run out and go buy these jerseys?
17:09How many guys do you think?
17:10I mean, like you have home away your alternate throwback.
17:15Is that not good enough for 17 weeks?
17:17Like LeBron James ruined the NBA when the Cleveland Cavaliers started wearing every color under the sun.
17:22And now it's to the point where you tune into an NBA game.
17:24You don't even know who's playing until the announcer actually says, oh, that's Atlanta.
17:28Didn't know that they were turquoise tonight.
17:31Hey, that's the Sixers.
17:32Didn't know they were pink tonight.
17:33How about that?
17:34Away we go in the hour number two of the seven and seven, the hottest topics.
17:37And much more.
17:39It's Joe and Donnie in the morning.
17:40It's a football Friday right here on the early line on the Sports Grid Network.
17:44It's Donnie Wright said it's Joe Ranieri.
17:46And we got to bring in the man, the myth, the legend.
17:48It's Coach Terry Bowden.
17:49You can see him all over the networks here with the Bowden Blitz with Joe Lisi.
17:52And also comes on the show College Football Today with us each and every Saturday.
17:56Coach, how do you feel today?
17:57We're ready for week number one.
18:00Man, I'm on location, Tallahassee, Florida in the Crimson Tide coming this afternoon.
18:04So a lot of excitement down here in Tallahassee.
18:08Looking good, Coach.
18:09We're ready to go and have some fun.
18:10But correct me if I'm wrong.
18:12You were a coach of the Auburn Tigers.
18:13Those Tigers got a big-time game against the Baylor Bears.
18:16Let me ask you this question.
18:17You've been in a lot of big-time environments.
18:19Early in the season, taking your ball club on the road to a hostile environment,
18:23how do you get those guys ready?
18:24And what do we see from Auburn and Baylor?
18:27Well, when you've got a critical game like Auburn's got, they've been losing seasons.
18:32Hugh Preeze is on the bubble right now.
18:34And this has been a big game to this staff all year.
18:36I don't think you have any trouble getting your team up for a team like Baylor.
18:40Who are picked to be one of the top teams in the conference.
18:43Had a great finish last year.
18:45It's easier than playing a bad team and playing down to them.
18:48So it's a tough assignment.
18:50But I've got a new great restart for Jackson Arnold out there.
18:55And because of him and his restart and a little bit better talent, I've got Auburn pulling it out.
19:00Well, I like an Auburn there.
19:03All right.
19:03I guess when you say Death Valley, it doesn't really make a difference for both these teams since they both play at it.
19:09But Clemson and LSU getting ready to go.
19:12That's a lot of new offensive linemen for LSU there to go on the road against that front against Clemson.
19:19The money's on Clemson.
19:20What are you thinking?
19:22Well, you know what?
19:24When it was four points, I got to go back to LSU and the points.
19:28Although I do think Clemson will win because home field advantage, their Death Valley, their Club Kudnik versus Garrett Nussmeyer, their new defensive coordinator.
19:41They're both very evenly matched.
19:43But I got to think that the difference is going to go to Clemson to win the game.
19:47But four points, I'm going with LSU because it will be a tight ballgame with two.
19:51Very evenly matched.
19:54Coach, let me ask you a question here with LSU.
19:57We've known their struggles opening games, but they're no stranger.
19:59Like, they'll take on the best anywhere, any shape, anytime.
20:02How do you feel about him coming into the game, talking about Brian Kelly and the pressure that's building on him where you're supposed to win at LSU national championships,
20:09and it's hard to get excited for the season when you keep getting tripped up in week number one.
20:13Yeah, I live in Louisiana, and these are Cajuns.
20:17These are LSU fans here, and they're not happy.
20:19They will put a lot of weight on this game, more than even Brian Kelly wants,
20:23because both teams can lose this game and still make the college football playoffs.
20:27So it's not one of those games that will end it.
20:29But for Brian Kelly, he needs to start out strong because the Boo Birds are out there,
20:33and they're wanting to see immediate results.
20:35And, again, they didn't pay him and bring him in not to win the conference
20:39or not to go to the college football playoffs.
20:41So this is a big game, maybe not necessarily for the SEC team,
20:45but for a chance to go to the playoffs and how good you're going to be.
20:49Still, I think they're going to cover with the four points,
20:52but I've got to take Clemson in their death valley with their quarterback.
20:58But he's got it.
20:59Brian Kelly is on a bit of a hot seat.
21:01Yes, he is in LSU.
21:05They won't tolerate it.
21:06Isn't it funny, though, Coach, just a year ago, another loss to Michigan,
21:11and Ohio State fans are like, Ryan Day's got to go.
21:14He's got to go.
21:16Well, now he wins the national championship, and now all is well,
21:19except he welcomes Texas in.
21:22I don't think this is going to make or break either team,
21:25but what kind of game are we getting at the shoe here?
21:29To me, this is a classic.
21:30I'm so glad they're opening up this way, because now you've got the classic game,
21:34two teams with probably the top NFL talent in the country,
21:39and I'm still going to give that nod to Ohio State still.
21:42Quarterbacks are both new, but not only he's more publicized,
21:46but he's got a little bit of experience,
21:48and you have to give the quarterback nod to them.
21:50But I played in the shoe.
21:51That's a tough place to play, and it all comes down to Ohio State,
21:56a little better talent.
21:57They're playing in the shoe.
21:59That's just enough to hang on with that lead, that sprint.
22:03Coach, let me ask you a question with this, too.
22:05Let me put you in the room for the losing team between Texas and Ohio State.
22:09Let's just say it's a close hard-fought loss, 27-24.
22:12What are you telling your team moving forward,
22:14knowing of how much anticipation in game number one there was,
22:17but there's still such a long season left to go,
22:19and you can still rebound with the extra playoff spots?
22:22You just got to read the paper.
22:24I'm a Sarkeesian, head coach of Texas, is already putting it out.
22:27It's not all about this game.
22:29It's not all one game.
22:30It comes to after this game, and so both coaches know they want to win this game
22:36but have to have a plan B because when a game is this evenly matched
22:40about the two top teams in the country, top two or three teams in the country,
22:43the loss could come.
22:45It's all about what you do after loss.
22:47Most national championship years, there's a loss somewhere in there.
22:50It's how you adapt or adjust to that loss, not that you don't have a loss.
22:57Coach, no team and no program is going to be more watched this year
23:01than North Carolina.
23:03The problem is they got 70 new players there and Bill Belichick and his staff.
23:08If you're Sonny Dykes, how are you even prepping for this?
23:12Do you have any idea what you're going to be getting?
23:15You know, Sonny Dykes is not his first rodeo,
23:18and he comes from pretty good bloodlines too.
23:21He knows what he's doing.
23:23But North Carolina, you know, you've got a new coaching staff,
23:26new athletes, new systems.
23:29You really don't know what you've got, but you do know one thing.
23:32If anybody knows how to get a team ready for a season, it's Bill Belichick.
23:36And that will be there.
23:37But I don't think that will be enough.
23:39I just don't think you can have enough.
23:41Too many things they've got to change.
23:43And I still wonder, having been a coach for a long time and knowing coaches
23:48that have played in a coach in NFL, how motivated, what's his motivation?
23:52And I'm not saying that, but sometimes is a reason.
23:57Or does he want to take North Carolina to a new level?
24:01It's always, you know, a younger coach going from NFL is one thing.
24:05I just kind of his motivation is there to build a championship calendar.
24:09He knows how to do it.
24:11A couple of moments left here in the segment for you, Coach.
24:14You're down in Tallahassee.
24:15Tell us what you're doing this weekend in Tallahassee.
24:18Well, there'll be, well, actually my mother's 93rd birthday
24:21and we've got the entire Bowdoin clan.
24:23All right.
24:24Almost 50 of us.
24:26Almost 50 of us will be there, but we will all be watching that football game
24:30because Florida State with a transfer quarterback, Tommy Catalaris,
24:35plus Gus Meyer, the opposite corner.
24:37Can they mesh enough?
24:39They will.
24:39They'll keep it close, but Alabama will pull away in the second half by 14.
24:44You heard Coach Bowden tell it there in Tallahassee, the place to be on Saturday.
24:49Alabama comes to town with Coach Bowden.
24:50Thanks once again for joining us this week.
24:52We'll see you all throughout college football season.
24:54He's Coach Bowden.
24:55Catch him also on the Bowden Blitz with Joe Lisi on the Sports Grid Network.
24:59Thanks, Coach.
24:59Good luck tomorrow.
25:00We'll continue with the early line next.
25:02See you, Alabama.
25:03Coming at you, Joe Ranieri.
25:04Yesterday, you went to college football.
25:06Are you returning back to college football today?
25:08Tell the people.
25:10I am absolutely returning back to college football, and I am absolutely looking at another dog here tonight.
25:17An interesting game in week one.
25:20It's a game that features two teams we actually already had a chance to see, Donnie, and we've got some data on here in week zero, and that's UNLV at Sam Houston.
25:31And anybody that watched Dan Mullins opening game as the UNLV new coach, yeah, how impressed were you that FCS Idaho State threw for 555 yards there, and they almost lost the game.
25:50In the process, maybe one of the worst tackling teams I've ever seen.
25:54They whiffed on 17 tackles in that game there.
25:59And on the flip side, the Bearcats took on Western Kentucky, who we all know, up-tempo, loves to throw the ball.
26:06But they actually out-gained Western Kentucky, averaging a little over 6.5 yards per play.
26:14This kid, Hunter Watson, and this running back, McCaskill, these are game changers here, not to mention Phil Lungo, the new head coach, is a air raid guy here taking over on this program at Sam Houston.
26:27They went two for 17 on third down, and they turned the ball over in the red zone.
26:32It's the only reason they didn't cover that game against Western Kentucky, but I have no doubt with this defense of UNLV that Sam Houston at home will be able to keep this within a single score, if not win this game outright on Friday night.
