00:00Ah, there I am, Chris Jacobs.
00:09And that's me, AJ, and that is Chip Foose.
00:12On today's overhaul, and Mike's the mark, unaware we're horsing around with his 67 Mustang.
00:17The ride's going to be reborn at ACS.
00:20Mike's folks are working as insiders.
00:22Sharon and Kirk want to do something special for their deserving son.
00:25Those parents will keep Mike clueless as a clam as we prank our mark like it's going out of style.
00:31While Chip and the team redo the ride, make it into one of the most radical Mustangs a Ford Fiend has ever laid eyes on.
00:37Taking longer to build than any car in overhauling history.
00:40We have steered our boat into uncharted waters.
00:43It's territory where a driver gets detoured as a crew gets creative.
00:47So sit tight, we are taking and snaking that stang.
00:51Right here, right now, on Overhauling.
00:55We're remaking the Mustang of our Mark Mike.
01:21His dad, Kirk, is helping us as an insider.
01:23And Mike's mechanic, Tom, is also in on our plan.
01:29All right, here we go again.
01:31Chris is about to grab Mike's car.
01:33Mike's taking his ride down to accomplice Tom's garage.
01:35Mike's water pump is faulty.
01:37That's our end for stealing the car.
01:39You know what happens next.
01:40We're going to sit back and watch him do this thing.
01:42Here comes Mike and his specially equipped 67.
01:45He's been coming here to Tom for 15 years.
01:48There he is.
01:48All right, Mike just arrived.
01:52This car looks pretty good, actually.
01:54It's blue.
01:54It's got some Shelby stripes on it.
01:56Yeah?
01:57Hey, John.
01:58Hey, good morning.
01:59How are you doing?
02:00Pretty good.
02:00Dad Kirk arrives with Mike's wheelchair to get Mike out of here so we can get busy.
02:05Right away, Tom lets loose with the water pump pitch.
02:07So, yeah, we got the sweet deal on the water pump deal.
02:10Nice.
02:11You're still going to need a radiator, though, right?
02:13I don't think so.
02:14I think we can work around that.
02:15I'm going to see what we can do.
02:16This is going to be a really cool 67 fastback.
02:19You're going to do a real nice thing for a real nice guy.
02:21Mike, you're in for the week of your life, buddy.
02:24All right, you guys set?
02:25All right, you got set.
02:26Okay, take it easy, guys.
02:28Okay, once Mike and Kirk round the corner and disappear, we're going to bust our move and make that steal.
02:34All right, Mike just dropped his car off.
02:38We're about to get out of this van, go grab it, put it up on the truck, bring it down to Huntington, and start working on it.
02:45As you can see, we got Mike's Mustang up on the truck.
02:48We're going to get this thing down to the shop, start taking it apart because we've only got seven days.
02:54And soon we're here at ACS.
02:56Woo!
02:59Well, there you go.
03:00Another day one, another successful theft, another episode of Overhaul.
03:04And this time it's Mike's 67 fastback Mustang.
03:07I know the A-team's chomping at the bit to get a look at this thing, so let's bring them on out.
03:11Yo, A-team, come on out, baby!
03:14Yeah!
03:14Oh, my God, Chip Foose!
03:18Oh, these guys are from Florida.
03:20There's Roger!
03:21No edge wheels!
03:22Can't believe it!
03:23You said you wanted an A-team?
03:26You got yourself an A-team.
03:27Mike, you said you wanted your car overhauled?
03:29You're going to get an overhaul.
03:30Think you can handle it?
03:32Probably.
03:37Time to get it inside after the guys break it in.
03:45Yup, Mike's a car guy.
03:49This will be a good one.
03:50We're feeling optimistic because Mike's kept this car in very good shape.
03:56All right, Chip, first impressions.
03:58Get this thing blown apart.
03:59We'll change a couple things out on it.
04:01Get it painted and put it back together.
04:03This will be a cool car.
04:04And Steve will make sure the car's wheelchair-friendly.
04:07I'm here with Steve Peccaro.
04:08He is better known as Wheels, and he is on our A-team this week.
04:11After a paralyzing motorcycle accident in 98, I got a Dodge Ram and went to my first truck
04:19show and knew from then on what I wanted to do.
04:22One year later, I went back into one second place in my class with that truck, and since
04:28then, it's just been ongoing.
04:29What are some of the issues that you face behind the wheel?
04:32Well, first off, being behind the wheel is ultimate freedom for being in a wheelchair.
04:37Nobody knows you're in a wheelchair at that point.
04:39If you roll up next to you and look at you and be like, hey, what's going on?
04:42They don't know you're in a chair.
04:43It doesn't matter at that point, but that's a freedom.
04:46He's not going to want to be in his chair anymore.
04:48Just get me in my car.
04:49Let me drive my car.
04:50Nobody will know anything, and it's good to go.
04:52Let's tear it up.
04:53Let's do it.
04:54We will do it under the headship of Squad Commander Chip Foose.
04:57Okay, we got to say it.
05:00This car has us a little worried.
05:02Sometimes, the better the ride, the more Foose decides to tackle.
05:07Don't get us wrong.
05:08The man never bites off more than he can chew, but when Chip's this excited, it becomes a
05:12big project.
05:17Mike's made a lot of modifications to make everything accessible.
05:20And he's taken really good care of this car.
05:22That's why the team figures we got time to burn when it comes to really taking it to the
05:26next level.
05:27But guys, don't get cocky with a well-kept car.
05:30D-Day will be here before you know it.
05:32Very important person on this week's build.
05:35This is Kurt.
05:35He's Mike's father.
05:37Welcome to Overhaul, man.
05:38Right on.
05:39Now, tell me a little bit about some of the challenges that you guys have faced with Mike's
05:44being handicapped.
05:46Well, aside from having your whole life turned upside down, and he's an outdoor person, always
05:50worked with his hands.
05:51Can't do it anymore.
05:52This has been his hobby and the thing that's kept him most sane, I think, through this whole
05:57thing.
05:58Now, one of our A-team members, Steve Wheels, who is on our A-team this week, he's also
06:03wheelchair-bound.
06:04And he says that one of the things that's great about being in a car is that it's very
06:06freeing.
06:07Does Mike feel that same way?
06:09Oh.
06:09He gets behind the wheel of that car, and he's a different person.
06:11It's kind of like the old cartoon, the Walt Disney cartoon, where Goofy turns mad.
06:16That's him.
06:17I'm going to put you through a week of hell, man, but don't worry, there is a light at
06:20the end of the tunnel, and that is your new car that's been overhauled.
06:26You ready?
06:27We're going to tear into it right now.
06:28You ready?
06:28Let's go.
06:29Grab a wrench, baby.
06:30We're going to be keeping a lot of the parts that are coming off this car because they're
06:34expensive and they can be reused.
06:37But once we blast this car, we'll know where we're at.
06:39It looks pretty solid, though.
06:41And it has some classic gear.
06:43This is a Ford Filco, high-quality, 1960s push-button tuning technology right here.
06:49I'm not going to put my foot in my mouth early, but so far, so good with the condition of it,
06:54with what he's done, the work to it already.
06:57And of course, any reused gear will be 100% refurbished and cleaned up like new, down to
07:03the window trim.
07:04Be very, very careful because that back glass is irreplaceable, and so is the trim that goes
07:10around it.
07:12What?
07:13Rust?
07:13Don't be alarmed.
07:15It's a very small amount.
07:16That's child's play compared to what we're used to.
07:24From rusting to rolling, time to lift the ride and get on under.
07:28Along with new stuff and body mods, Mike's old stuff is going to be made cooler than when
07:32it first went on the car.
07:34There's a lot of things we found that are worn, and so we're just going to go through everything,
07:37check it all out, make sure it's good.
07:38And that old engine is on its way out, making room for a new 351 built by Ford Racing.
07:48That's it, man.
07:50Oh, yeah.
07:51It's out of there.
07:51So far, it's a productive day one.
07:53Well, the new Ford Racing engine does soon arrive, and Captain Chip has big plans for the environment
08:01where all that horsepower is going to do its galloping.
08:03The entire engine compartment will be black, and just this little silver diamond beauty.
08:08It's like, open the hood.
08:09It's like the diamond box.
08:10You open the hood, and you're looking at the diamond.
08:12Well, the diamond box is soon back from blasting, and it is one fine jewel.
08:16This is a real solid car.
08:18Good car to be creative with and have a cool ride at the end.
08:21A few wrinkles and some Botox.
08:24They go hand in hand.
08:25We'll knock this thing up pretty quick.
08:27But I'm excited.
08:28This is a great car.
08:30But remember, seven days go quick, even with a nice car.
08:33This is a nice car.
08:34There's no rust.
08:35Got a little bit of work where they stretch the wheel wells.
08:38Looks all clean.
08:39Always time for more modifications if there's not a lot of rust, which is cool for Mike because
08:44he gets way cooler stuff done to his car.
08:47All right, as far as design on Mike's Mustang here, what we're going to do is we're going
08:51to look at replacing the whole back half with the Shelby taillights and the extra pieces.
08:55Myers Brothers have brought that in.
08:57We're going to keep all the polished aluminum on the inside, but we're going to mount the
09:00battery in there and also two amps.
09:02The interior is going to be all cleaned up.
09:04We're going to try and wrap everything in black leather with a real nice stereo system.
09:08And the other thing we're doing is taking all of the hand controls that Mike had in the
09:13car, and we're going to polish and chrome and black plate some of the pieces.
09:16So that's all dressed up.
09:17Just the same attention given to the hand controls as we're giving to the car.
09:21We're taking the best of the best parts, and we're going to fit them to this car so it's
09:25Mike's personal car, and it's a one-off piece.
09:27It's a lot to do in a week.
09:30All right, Dad's here to check things out.
09:33Pretty amazing the work that we accomplished in one day, huh?
09:36Fantastic.
09:37We've had this car for about 24 hours.
09:39Exactly.
09:40Yeah.
09:40Yeah, I'm amazed.
09:42I'm just absolutely amazed.
09:43Our insider, Kirk, takes a look at all the new ideas, the media blasted body, and some
09:47of the various parts going on to this ride.
09:50Next, Kirk consults with Steve to discuss the plans for the custom wheelchair.
09:54These are our legs.
09:55These are our wheels.
09:57And, I mean, it would be totally awesome.
09:58He's got a nice chair as it is.
10:00All the adjustments and everything good to go.
10:02If this car's going to get done as bitching as it's going to be, why not have a matching wheelchair to match so he's got his legs to match his car.
10:10He can get out and ride in style, or he can get in and ride in style.
10:13So it's just an added bonus to our situation, and I think it would be awesome for Chip to do some stuff on this.
10:20And I think it's a real good idea, and I'm glad I can be a part of it.
10:24I think it's one of a kind.
10:27That's going to look great.
10:28Mike, I know we fooled you.
10:32I hope we fooled you.
10:34This is coming out unbelievable.
10:35I wish you could be here to watch it happen in person, but you'll just have to settle for second best, having the car.
10:42This is going to be beautiful.
10:44Mike has always wanted an Eleanor, but Chip wants to go one better.
10:47Eleanor is the name that was given to the car that was used in Gone in 60 Seconds, the movie.
10:52It was a GT500 Shelby, but it was new parts that were created just for the movie.
10:58It wasn't an actual Shelby.
11:00So there are aftermarket kits that you can buy to build a GT500 Shelby E Eleanor for the movie.
11:08And that's what Mike's referring to when he says he wants an Eleanor.
11:11But I don't want to use all these fiberglass parts.
11:14You can get a much nicer finish on steel parts.
11:16So I want to use the stock hood, use the stock headlight surrounds, use the bumpers, and then what we're doing is just refitting the bottom fascia.
11:25So it'll still have that Eleanor look, but I think it's going to be a much higher quality car.
11:30Well, that's what FUSA is always about.
11:32Quality over your basic quick changeover.
11:34Chip just finished with the location of the bumper.
11:37Stimmed it, brought it in.
11:38Now I'm working with the lower balance.
11:40There, I've got to glass the inside, mock it up.
11:42It's probably going to be a late night tonight.
11:44He's done about 3 or 4 o'clock.
11:53When you ask what it's like to bring a car alive for a person in Mike's situation, it's no different than anybody else.
11:59We're just building his dream car.
12:00And if we hit the mark right, and he's excited about the car, that's what it's all about.
12:05It's not because somebody's in a wheelchair or not.
12:07It's just that we've made somebody's dream come true.
12:10That's what it's all about for me.
12:11Chip's right about that.
12:13But around the shop this week, everybody has a great attitude when it comes to doing something special for a guy who is really going to get turned on by this ride.
12:21Mike's a car guy who clearly lets nothing stand in his way.
12:25And if we can put something together for a dude like that, that is an overhaul and worth every hour we can put into it.
12:31Like we've been saying, Foose has cool tricks up his sleeve for this car.
12:38And even though the body came to us all perfect and essentially rust-free, we cannot let up even for a moment.
12:43With the plans Chip has, we're going to need every minute possible.
12:47That we can guarantee.
12:49And by the looks of Foose's sketch, probably even more.
12:55So Mike, we hear you watch the show.
13:05We hear you're nuts about the work of Chip Foose.
13:07And with all that in mind, check this out.
13:10Well Mike, that's what your car is going to look like.
13:16Okay Andreas, time to let Mike's mom in for a little peek.
13:20Oh my gosh.
13:22Oh.
13:23Wow.
13:23It's a part.
13:25It's only day three.
13:26He needs to see it like this and then you would really have part failure.
13:30Oh my gosh.
13:32Well that's not what we want.
13:33This is just terrific.
13:35I can't believe it.
13:36The great thing is, is the work that's been done on the car already, that was good work.
13:41So we had something to work with.
13:43Structurally the thing was beautiful.
13:44All we had was one little rust spot on the firewall and then one in the rear window.
13:50That was it.
13:50This car is a gem to us.
13:52This is actually Steve.
13:54Hi Steve.
13:54Known as Wheels.
13:56Nice to meet you.
13:57Yeah, we're actually tricking out his normal ride.
14:00We tore it apart and it's going to the sandblaster and it's going to be powder coated to match.
14:05These we're going to keep the same color and then the guys are going to do some upholstery
14:08to match.
14:09Oh my gosh.
14:10So in or out of the car you'll be riding in style still.
14:13For Mike's parents, this is a lot to take in.
14:15This was fun Mike.
14:16Wish you could be here.
14:17The Edelbrock intake manifold that's going in Mike's 351 Windsor is being supplied by
14:23O'Reilly Auto Parts.
14:24Chris is going to get the whole story from Mark.
14:26Mark, what are some of the other products you guys have supplied for the Mustang?
14:30Well, we went ahead and ordered oil and filters.
14:32I believe we went ahead and got the intake for them, oil pan, all the brake cleaners, brake
14:37fluid, ordered ARP bolts for them, best in the business, motor mounts I believe.
14:43Trying to think of what else.
14:43We got miscellaneous stuff.
14:45We've been ordering stuff every 20 minutes trying to get everything we needed in here
14:48for this.
14:49It's 5.30 on day three and a lot is going on.
14:52Andreas is working on the front.
14:54Shane is working on the rear bumper.
14:55Kevin and Mike are working on the engine getting everything sorted out.
14:58Hopefully making it into paint by tomorrow.
15:01Tell us how Mike's doing.
15:02Where does he think his car is right now?
15:03He thinks his car is down at Tom the Mechanic's shop getting a new water pump.
15:08Is he worried about the fact that it's been there for four days?
15:11Well, he's always nervous about his car.
15:12He was a little upset yesterday because when he called Tom's shop to see how things were
15:16going, they weren't going as fast as he wanted them to go.
15:18So he's separated from this car.
15:20It's not comfortable for him.
15:23Is that what it's going to look like?
15:24It's what it's going to look like.
15:26Those are unbelievable.
15:27As you can see, we've got the new lower valance on.
15:30We've got the lures.
15:31The louvers have been locked up.
15:33Rear bumper's been sucked in.
15:35We have this rocker panel installed.
15:38It's just going to be a thing of beauty.
15:39Nice line right down there.
15:40Great line, isn't it?
15:41Wow.
15:41So it'll have that flavor of Eleanor.
15:43It'll still be completely unique.
15:46This looks fantastic.
15:49He's going to go crazy.
15:50Yeah?
15:51Yeah, he's not going to believe it.
15:52It's going to be what he wants?
15:53Oh, yeah.
15:54Cool.
15:54Yeah, more than what he wants.
15:58Mike's car should be finished by now, so our insider's taking him to Tom's to go get it.
16:03All right, they're here.
16:03Mike and his dad are pulling up right now.
16:05AJ, or Misty, is in the shop waiting for him to come inside.
16:10So, can I help you guys?
16:13Game time.
16:14He's your quick friend.
16:15What's your name?
16:16Mike.
16:17Mike?
16:18Okay.
16:22The only Mustang I have, is that one yours?
16:27Okay, it looks like Kirk's phone just rang.
16:29That's the fake phone call that's going to pull him out of the shop.
16:31I'm sorry, my name's Misty.
16:34Hi, Misty.
16:34How are you?
16:35Good, how are you?
16:35I'm just feeling it.
16:36Angela called me to come help out because they've got, Mike is out on vacation and they actually
16:41had a room.
16:42I was going to say, I've never seen you here before.
16:43So, bear with me.
16:44I'm just trying my best here.
16:46So, it's your car?
16:47Yeah.
16:47Really?
16:48You drive it?
16:48Yeah, the blue and white one.
16:50That is so awesome.
16:51Yeah.
16:51Very cool.
16:52Do you go really fast?
16:54When I can.
16:55Yeah.
16:56Okay.
16:58Here comes a part.
16:59Oh, I better move out of the way.
17:00Let's move out of the way.
17:01Very cool.
17:02Say, I told you to sell the place.
17:04You got that?
17:05I don't care if there's this place to 1,000 people.
17:07I want you to sell.
17:08You got it?
17:09That's an order.
17:10All right.
17:11Art is not happy.
17:13Tom, he stepped out for a while.
17:16I'm here to pick up my Corvette.
17:17I need to send me one Corvette.
17:19You got it ready for me?
17:19Okay, what's your name?
17:21Paul James.
17:22Paul James.
17:24How are you doing?
17:25Good.
17:27I have four cars here.
17:28I have an Anna.
17:29I sure hope one of them is my car.
17:31Corvette?
17:32Jason.
17:33No.
17:34You know, I'm sorry.
17:34Paul James.
17:35I'm sorry.
17:36Where's Angela?
17:37She knows where my car is.
17:39Angela's out.
17:40You don't have to yell at me.
17:41I'm trying my best.
17:41Well, I want my car.
17:42Tom told me my car's going to be ready today.
17:44Hold on a second.
17:45Listen, I've got a business to run.
17:46I've got to get back to work.
17:47You know what?
17:47There is no Corvette here.
17:48I'm sorry.
17:49I just have these four work orders.
17:50Well, where's my Corvette?
17:51We're really overbooked.
17:52They were supposed to be ready for me here today.
17:54All right, Mike.
17:55You going to say something or not?
17:56Who do they hire around here?
17:57Idiots?
17:59Sir, you know what?
18:00You don't have to call me an idiot.
18:02Well, I'm trying my...
18:03She's going in, bud.
18:04She's all right.
18:05What do you mean she's filling in?
18:06Where's...
18:06She's just being helpful to Tom.
18:10I'm sorry.
18:11Ah, the knight in shining armor.
18:14Does he have, like, another lot where he keeps it when he gets a little overbooked?
18:17I think he has another place in Elsinore.
18:19He said nothing about Elsinore.
18:22Hi, this is Misty.
18:23I don't even know if he works out of there anymore, but I know he has a place where he used to work out.
18:27Do you have a car here?
18:28I did.
18:29Okay, you know what?
18:29I don't see mine here either.
18:30Paul?
18:30Your car's not here either?
18:31Paul.
18:32Wait, wait.
18:32His car's not here either?
18:34What's going on here?
18:34Okay, Paul, I'm going to go...
18:35There's two cars missing.
18:37Okay, can we come...
18:37I really don't like to be yelled at.
18:39I'm just helping.
18:40I'm going to go...
18:40He's got it under control.
18:41There's...
18:41I wouldn't worry about it either.
18:43Okay, give me two minutes.
18:44I'm going to go check the office.
18:44Maybe they forgot to put the work out.
18:46I'll check for yours too, okay?
18:47Okay, no, I'm not in a hurry.
18:48Okay.
18:50Where did they find this girl, man?
18:52Probably at a beauty pageant.
18:53I guess so.
18:56What's going on?
18:57Okay, after shuffling a little paperwork, Misty comes back out to Mike and the pleasant art.
19:02I don't appreciate you yelling at me.
19:04I'm trying my best.
19:05All I want to know is where's my car?
19:08You know what?
19:08Can you just call Tom tomorrow and...
19:10What about his car too?
19:11It's missing too.
19:13No, I'm not worried about missing.
19:14Tom's like one of the last...
19:16He's like one of the only people that I have to trust in my car.
19:19This really sucks.
19:20I've got to get out of here.
19:20I've got to get back to work.
19:22And my car better be here by tomorrow.
19:23Okay, well...
19:24Let Tom know I was here.
19:25Let's get out of here.
19:31Unbelievable.
19:34Yeah, he's not a happy camper, huh?
19:36I'm sorry.
19:37I just...
19:37Yeah.
19:39Life's too short to be upset.
19:41Perfect.
19:41Misty, good luck.
19:42Thanks.
19:43Okay, sorry about that.
19:43But yeah, just give him a call tomorrow.
19:45Okay, thank you.
19:45Okay, thanks.
19:46Mike took the bait, defending poor little Misty against big, bad art.
19:50Yeah, Mike's a great guy who's going to get one great custom ride if we can finish it.
19:58Back at the shop, the guys from Meijer get busy.
20:01Well, basically what we got set up for you, Mike, is our old school Trans Am front suspension
20:06with a little lighter, a little nicer for the drag launch.
20:10We got our own 500-pound coil springs.
20:12It's a lighter of the springs that we sell, so you can get a good weight transfer when
20:17you step on it out of the hole.
20:19All right, so it's the beginning of day five.
20:21It's 1 o'clock in the morning.
20:23I'm just finishing putting the rear end together.
20:25The guys are still over there finishing up body work.
20:28Hopefully we'll get some primer on it sometime this morning and have it painted sometime tomorrow.
20:37We're here at MHT, the company that manufactures FUSA's wheels.
20:41And for Mike's wheels, FUSA is going both bigger and cooler, coming up with a one-off design
20:46that quickly goes from drawing to computer to milling.
20:49And what Mike's looking at right now is we're designing a new center.
20:52We're going to build something very similar to what he had, but do it from a 15-inch wheel
20:56to a 22-inch wheel in the back and to a 20 in the front.
21:00Okay, let's watch him turn aluminum into one classic piece of rolling stock.
21:09Oh, and don't try this without the liquid.
21:12Metal-cutting metal can get real darn hot without it.
21:16Now there's a whole lot of incisions being made, churning out discarded aluminum as one
21:21cool design begins to emerge from the wheel.
21:23And soon a birth announcement is made.
21:26Boys and girls, you're looking at the first Mustang one-off FUSA design wheel.
21:35It's the morning of day six.
21:37As you can see, we're just a bunch of block sanding fools.
21:42Day six?
21:42No paint?
21:43Why, Craig?
21:44Why?
21:45We just have a lot more body work on this car and a lot of areas that we need to address
21:49because this car is going to be black, so we want to make sure that it's flawless.
21:53So there's a lot of panels that need to be just perfect.
21:57Well, there's one good sign here.
21:59It looks like they're masking things off for a little paint.
22:02Ah, thank you.
22:03Finally, they are painting, even if it is just the inside of the body at the moment.
22:08It's looking real good.
22:09It's going to look better once we have some color and some stripes on it.
22:13Soon, Chip gets a closer look, realizing to everyone's dismay that the rocker panels aren't
22:19right.
22:19Forcing the man to take action with his own two hands.
22:25If you look at the backside, it's got that little crease right there.
22:28All I wanted was just a little radius in that instead of looking big and flat.
22:34It doesn't look like the front bumper right now.
22:43The man's attention to detail is second to none, but someone needs to tell him that we
22:47only have two days left to get this car done.
22:49Can someone pass that on to him?
22:52Naturally, leave it to Foose to quickly sand and shape all of his concerns into custom
22:56car perfection.
22:57Well, the front balance had a little flat spot on the front edge, and that's where we bend
23:03up the rockers to match.
23:05And after all the primer work and everything, that little flat spot is missing.
23:09So we're just going to cut it back in, so that the front balance and the side rockers match.
23:18Looking good.
23:19Okay.
23:20Chip's soon happy, and it's time for a date with a paint booth.
23:24Okay, so it's two o'clock in the morning, day seven.
23:28We're rolling the car in for paint.
23:29Hopefully, in a couple hours, we'll have some paint on it.
23:31It's been days since we saw Chip's original red ring, but it's finally time for that artwork
23:38to become reality.
23:39Good morning, day seven.
23:40Get a load of Chip.
23:45The man is literally fueled by a time crunch.
23:57What's happening right now is I think everybody's laughing their nervousness away.
24:03The team takes its cue from a genius who can do anything under pressure, but that doesn't
24:10mean we're not sailing directly into a typhoon.
24:13We have steered our boat into uncharted waters.
24:17We've never been at this point before.
24:19Car, we haven't even laid color on it yet.
24:22It's day seven.
24:23Actually, it's an afternoon of day seven.
24:26Can you believe this?
24:27So what did we have to do?
24:28We had to go to the big guns.
24:30You wanted the best, you got the best.
24:33You know the man, Charlie.
24:37He's going to be painting this car.
24:38Finally, he makes his appearance on overhaul.
24:40Brother, welcome.
24:43For those of you who are fans of cars, TV, and award-winning rides, you know all there
24:49is to know about Charlie Hutton.
24:51The man has painted a lot of great ones and he's going stronger today than ever before.
24:55It was Charlie who put the color on Chip's latest Riddler winner, Impression.
24:59And if you're looking for a better painter, here's the bottom line.
25:02You won't find him.
25:03And one more thing.
25:04Do we need him now?
25:06It's 5.20 p.m. on day seven.
25:10What's missing?
25:11That's right.
25:12The car.
25:13This is the spot where the car is going to be rebuilt.
25:15However, it's still in the paint booth right over there.
25:18Now we're hoping that the last layer of clear is going to be going on right now.
25:21And the car will be back out here soon.
25:23Because we've got less than 24 hours before this car goes back to mine.
25:28Time to unwrap the beast.
25:30Pronto.
25:32Let's get it out.
25:33There you go.
25:34That's where this car is going to live for the next 22 or so hours.
25:41Hope, hope.
25:42Hope the big guy in the sky is with us for this one because we're going to need him.
25:47Here it comes.
25:48And it's coming with a lot of guys who haven't had sleep for a good long while.
25:52The guys are in the back of the car, around the car, inside the car, in front of the car, next to the car.
25:56Hooking up everything.
25:57The shocks, the bolts, the nuts, working the wrenches, the rebuilt gear, the new gear.
26:01And soon, there's progress.
26:03Like all that new Trix suspension under the rod.
26:08And just when we need it, the guys load up on some finger licking good fuel.
26:13Topped by chocolate cake worthy of a close up.
26:15Right Chip?
26:17Ah, I've been caked.
26:19I think we'll have this engine installed in about 20 minutes.
26:24That's a good number we can buy from these guys because this is a team that knows the meaning of the word scramble.
26:31In goes that beautiful Ford racing engine and it's a natural fit for this powerful looking Mustang.
26:40You can come down if you need to.
26:43At the top of this engine team is Kevin Bird, a man who loves his cars.
26:47Yeah, I think what I love so much about cars is just the freedom.
26:51I mean, you turn the key and you step on the pedal and you can go anywhere at any time.
26:56And you throw that in there with a mad rush of speed.
26:59You just absorb yourself in it and go.
27:03I don't know how to explain it any better than that.
27:05We're D-Day, 1.30 in the morning, 14 hours away from actually giving the car back to Mike.
27:11We're not even close to having something that looks like a car.
27:15I'm a little worried.
27:17It's D-Day and we have seven hours left before we give Mike back his car.
27:22The A-Team is hard at work on the engine, rear, exhaust, bumpers, interior, stereo.
27:28And the windows still aren't in.
27:32We're in a mad rush to get this car together.
27:34Our list is long and our time is short.
27:36But nothing perks up the crowd like new Foose wheels.
27:39One off and amazing from Chip and MHT.
27:44Mike, I like your wheels.
27:45If you don't, I'll take them.
27:48And there's Steve's project as well.
27:50Here I am just now assembling the chair.
27:54We're going to slide this backrest on here.
27:57Nice little tight fit.
27:59There, brand new backrest, brand new painted powder-coated black to match your car, Mike.
28:06And matching emblems will go on the chair and the car as well.
28:11Here's a first.
28:12Time for the final prank while there's a lot more car to build.
28:16It's about 20 to 2 D-Day.
28:18They've just left to do the final prank.
28:20We've got a lot of work to do.
28:21We've got Richard from Magnaflow putting in the exhaust.
28:23We still have all the windows.
28:25We've got an interior.
28:26We've got the hood to put on.
28:27And Dennis has got to come in and pinstripe and finish fitting the wheels.
28:32Alright, it's final prank time.
28:33AJ will be playing Detective Brooks.
28:35I am Officer Jackson.
28:36We're going to head over to Tom's garage and take it down for, well, what's in charge?
28:40Insurance fraud.
28:41I like it.
28:42Main thing is, Mike is in the dark, but soon he will see the light.
28:46You ready?
28:47Oh yeah.
28:48Let's roll it out.
28:52Seems Mike's pal is a crook.
28:54So we call our Mark telling him there's a situation at the shop.
28:57He's here in no time, arriving as Tom's going down.
29:00I need you to stay right here, please.
29:01Turn around, please.
29:10Basically what's going on here, the shop has been under surveillance for the past eight
29:14months.
29:15There's been suspicious activity going on, auto fraud, insurance.
29:18So I'm going to have to ask you some questions.
29:20Uh-huh.
29:21I really need you to cooperate with me.
29:22Okay, no problem.
29:23Okay, when did you bring in your car?
29:25Brought it in last Wednesday.
29:27Last Wednesday.
29:28And when did Tom say you would have your car finished and ready to be picked up?
29:32He didn't really give me a time or a date.
29:34He just said I just needed to be patient.
29:37So he would never give you an exact date?
29:39Well, I was, I mean, I don't know if we had an exact date.
29:42I was hoping in a couple of days.
29:47Alright, looks like the trunk's on.
29:49Everything works.
29:51Whew.
29:52Still got more work to do.
29:54Do you know where he gets his parts?
29:55No.
29:56How long have you known Tom?
29:58I've known him for a long time.
29:59Probably 15 years.
30:0115 years.
30:03Okay, and how many times has Tom worked on your car?
30:05Countless.
30:07I don't know.
30:08Say over 20?
30:11I'm sorry.
30:12Okay.
30:13I need no talking.
30:15Mike, I'm sorry.
30:17I said shut up.
30:19Five cars have gone missing in the past six months.
30:24The most recent car that has been reported missing is a 71 Corvette.
30:28Now, your car is missing.
30:32And what do you think is going on?
30:33I don't know.
30:34That just freaks me out right now.
30:36Now, can you please turn?
30:37I cannot have you look at Tom right now.
30:40So, what freaks you out about all this?
30:43I mean, my car is not here.
30:45That's kind of what it is.
30:46Now, do you know of any other shops Tom runs?
30:49No, I know he has an old shop that he used to work out of in Lake Elsinore off of Grand.
30:55Okay.
30:56That's it.
30:57Thanks, Mike.
30:58Hey, Tom.
31:00Lake Elsinore off of Grand, huh?
31:01Is that where you keep all the cars?
31:08Thanks, Mike, for that information.
31:09You're actually really helping out here.
31:15Have you ever helped him at that shop?
31:16I used to hang out with him over at that shop.
31:19Oh, I used to hang out with him in that shop.
31:21That's interesting.
31:23Looks like we've got an accomplice here.
31:24Oh, no kidding.
31:25Shut up.
31:26No, no, no.
31:27I need you to face me.
31:28So, what's your involvement?
31:31There's no involvement.
31:32I'm just a friend of his and his family.
31:33A friend of his that happens to hang out at the shop conveniently and hang out at the other shop in Lake Elsinore conveniently.
31:40See what I'm getting at here?
31:42Not really.
31:43I mean, I'm just what he is.
31:45You are an accomplice with insurance fraud.
31:49I'm not doing anything.
31:50I've just come over here and hang out.
31:52Detective, is this guy being uncooperative?
31:54Yeah, he's being a little bit mouthy with me and I know he's withholding information and he's not giving it up.
31:57Mike, why don't you just tell us what you know, man?
32:00I don't know anything.
32:01Listen, we already know the answer.
32:02Why don't you just tell us what we want to hear so we hear it from you?
32:05You're telling me that you don't know what's going on?
32:10You're telling me that you don't know what's going on here?
32:12Do you want me to tell you what's going on, Mike?
32:14I don't think I should say anything more.
32:15Do you want me to tell you what's going on?
32:16Yeah, I would like to know what's going on.
32:18Alright, I'll let you know what's going on, man.
32:20My name's Chris and you're on a show called Overhauling.
32:23Oh my gosh.
32:26Oh my gosh.
32:29Oh no.
32:30How you doing, man?
32:31I don't even know what to say.
32:35I don't even know what to say.
32:36So you're a big fan of the show, right?
32:38I love the show.
32:39You guys do awesome work.
32:40I am so lost for words right now.
32:43Oh my gosh.
32:44Thank you, everybody.
32:45Everybody that was involved.
32:46Thank you so much.
32:49The cat's out of the bag, but the car is not done.
32:51So we stall Mike till it's ready.
32:53Alright, do not try this at home.
32:55The ship is not only about to cut into a freshly painted hood,
32:58freshly pinstriped, and there's a little bit of filler underneath the paint.
33:02Be very careful.
33:05To make room for the air filter and put on the hood scoop,
33:08Chip traces a circle and freehand cuts the hole.
33:11Ask any car builder.
33:12What you are seeing is nothing short of amazing.
33:17Man, oh man.
33:18You have just seen an absolute master at the very top of his game.
33:23Alright, somewhere in that ant farm behind me is Mike's Mustang.
33:27And soon you will hear it.
33:28Because they're about to fire the engine for the very first time.
33:32Go ahead.
33:33Go ahead.
33:42No, keep cranking it.
33:44Guys, we're going to go hot.
33:45Ready?
33:46Go.
33:49No, no, no.
33:50Crank it again.
33:51Mike is literally minutes away, and if the car doesn't start,
33:55our entire reveal is in serious trouble.
33:58Nothing.
34:00It would appear that the distributor just isn't sending a signal to the MSD box,
34:04so we're trying to check some other things and just rule everything out.
34:08We're out of gas.
34:09The timing was on.
34:10We don't have any gas.
34:11That's why it was popping, guys.
34:12Feeling real great.
34:13Car fired up.
34:14Runs awesome.
34:15It sounds great.
34:16When you have less than 20 hours, you're bound to miss a couple of things.
34:19Tightening the fuel line, getting the right power to the coil, and the thing runs like a top.
34:20Mike, you're going to dig it.
34:21This thing is hot.
34:22It's hot.
34:23It's hot.
34:24It's going to kick.
34:25Okay.
34:26Mike's waiting.
34:27Our D-Day deadline is on.
34:28We're out of gas.
34:29I told you.
34:30The timing was on.
34:31We don't have any gas.
34:32That's why it was popping, guys.
34:33Feeling real great.
34:35Car fired up.
34:36Runs awesome.
34:37It sounds great.
34:38When you have less than 20 hours, you're bound to miss a couple of things.
34:41So, tightening the fuel line, getting the right power to the coil, and the thing runs like a top.
34:46Mike, you're going to dig it.
34:48This thing is hot.
34:49It's going to kick.
34:51Okay.
34:52Mike's waiting.
34:53Our D-Day deadline approaches.
34:55The car gets into position, and it's almost time.
34:58I'm wearing this silly grin because it's 11.10 p.m.
35:02That's right.
35:0350 minutes until midnight.
35:04We would have gone over our week's deadline.
35:06It's still D-Day.
35:07Exactly.
35:08We didn't miss.
35:09We made it.
35:10Thanks for the hard work of the A-Team.
35:12Mike, get ready for your life to change, baby.
35:15We were still building the car as we pulled the final prank on our mark.
35:20Telling Mike that his pal, Tom, was his partner in crime.
35:24But once we blew our cover, Mike was amazed and couldn't quite find just the right way to put it.
35:29I am so lost for words right now.
35:32My gosh.
35:33As a car guy, he would have really been at a loss for words watching our A-Team race against the clock.
35:38Okay, Mike has been patient for a good long while, but now the time has finally come.
35:47Oh, my God.
35:50Oh, my gosh.
35:53Oh, my gosh.
35:57That is incredible.
36:00Incredible.
36:01Holy smokes.
36:07My gosh.
36:12Oh, my gosh.
36:15Is it worth the wait, Mike?
36:18Yes, more than worth.
36:22I'm speechless.
36:23I'm just speechless.
36:25He kept his old car nice, but even he seems to think that we made it a whole lot nicer.
36:30We knew Foose and those guys would go nuts with great stock to start from.
36:33But, hey, we're not the types to go around saying, we told you so.
36:36It's now the kind of Mustang only a handful of guys can even dream of.
36:40A one-off custom-built for a guy who truly deserves it.
36:43A man who's a big fan of our very own team captain.
36:47Mr. Foose.
36:49Oh, my gosh.
36:51This is, like, beyond my wildest dreams.
36:55I mean, this is incredible.
36:57How do you do it?
36:59With a lot of help.
37:01That is just insane.
37:03I mean, wow.
37:06I hope you like it.
37:07No, I love it.
37:10I've got to sit down.
37:14I can't.
37:15That's not even the word that I would describe to you is how thankful I am.
37:20Thank you so, so much.
37:22Mike had a very pure Mustang.
37:24We added Shelby influences and a whole lot of Foose design work, making almost every inch
37:29of this ride something you will never see on any other car.
37:32It took a lot of time, but it was worth it.
37:34And now, Mike wants to meet the rest of our tired but always ready A team.
37:39Got a huge team.
37:40These guys worked really, really hard this week.
37:43You did an unbelievable job.
37:45Unbelievable job.
37:46Thank you so much.
37:48It's unbelievable.
37:49You.
37:50You awake here?
37:52No.
37:53The picture I had in my mind doesn't compare to this even.
37:57Oh, gosh.
37:58Now we had some special help on this bed.
38:01Your dad brought me down something and I figured you're going to have a really bitchin' ride.
38:06He said this is the chair that, the only chair that you take with you.
38:11So there you go.
38:12You got matching wheels to go with your matching wheels.
38:15Yeah.
38:18Good to meet you, man.
38:19Good to meet you, too.
38:21In Mike's old car, a lot of people probably stopped him and said,
38:26Hey, that thing looks like it's in pretty good shape.
38:29Now they're going to stop him and basically just remain speechless.
38:33It's a stunning ride containing a few hundred modifications,
38:36as well as some astonishing power in the engine compartment.
38:39And now it's time for Mike to get a look and a listen,
38:42because our Ford guys have been busy, very busy, under the hood.
38:53What do you think?
38:54Oh, man.
38:55You're going to be able to rip the meats off these tires.
38:58Oh, beautiful.
38:59Wait, I want to breathe the exhaust.
39:02We're pretty sure he likes it.
39:10Yeah!
39:11Woo!
39:12Yeah!
39:13Oh, man.
39:14The gauges are awesome, too.
39:29Wow.
39:30And with the push of a button, up goes the deck lid.
39:35Nice.
39:36Oh, nice.
39:37There's audio power hidden down in there, thanks to JL.
39:42My gosh.
39:43Unbelievable.
39:44Unbelievable, you guys.
39:45Awesome, huh?
39:46Unbelievable is what he keeps telling us, but here it is in front of him,
39:50sitting right there with all that new horsepower.
39:52He had it tricked out in the driver's seat, so with the help of our friends from the Ability Center,
39:56we knew what to do when we made it accessible again.
39:58Of course, we couldn't have done any of it without a man who not only brought Mike to our attention,
40:03he also helped us prank our mark every step of the way.
40:10Whoa!
40:11How are you doing?
40:12I'm doing good.
40:13I don't know how you and Mom...
40:14I feel crazy.
40:15I don't know how I didn't read it on you guys.
40:18Oh, my God.
40:19I'm just speechless.
40:20I'm completely speechless.
40:21I don't...
40:22I mean, you just don't...
40:23You just never accept it.
40:25You just don't...
40:26You just don't...
40:27You just don't...
40:28You just don't...
40:29You just don't...
40:30You just don't...
40:32You just never expect anything like this.
40:34And since my injury, you know, almost 17 years ago, every time I make a stride,
40:42I'm waiting for something to counter that, so that I'm taking like three steps forward,
40:47and then four steps backwards.
40:49And it's just...
40:51It's just hard to soak it all in.
40:55Guys, thanks so much.
40:57Incredible.
41:00It is one of the hottest Mustangs on the road.
41:06All made for one man who will now shout it to the rooftops.
41:09My name's Mike, and I've been overhauled.
41:12Welp!
41:15Woo!
41:16Woo!
41:18Woo!
41:19Woo!
41:22Thank you so much.
41:24Thank you so much.
41:26Thankyou so much.
41:27All made possible.
