01:48In the name of the Father,
01:50and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
01:52We pray,
01:54first of all, for mercy.
01:56Mercy upon
01:58the noble, loving, simple,
02:00humble soul
02:02of our beloved Pope Francis.
02:04He was a troubadour
02:06of God's mercy.
02:08Constantly preaching
02:10God's tender mercy for
02:12us, and
02:14encouraging our tender mercy
02:16for one another.
02:20Secondly, we pray
02:22for consolation, right?
02:24Consolation at our admitted
02:26committed loss.
02:28For us, as Catholics,
02:30this is a death in the family.
02:32We didn't call him
02:34Holy Father for nothing.
02:36We grieve
02:38that so many of you,
02:40our friends and neighbors,
02:42sharing that grief this afternoon
02:44means the world to us.
02:46to us.
02:48That prayer
02:50for consolation
02:52has already been answered
02:54in so many ways.
02:56As he
02:58returned to the home of his Father
03:00on the day after Easter
03:02with the victory
03:04of Jesus over death
03:06at his resurrection
03:08still fresh in our hearts.
03:22We praise God
03:24for the gift that Pope Francis
03:26was to all of us.
03:28A gift to be long savored.
03:30We're grateful to God
03:34for what he taught us
03:38by how he lived
03:40and by how he died.
03:42Comfortable?
03:44Comfortable enough with us,
03:46his family,
03:48to let us see his weakness,
03:50his fragility,
03:52his stumbling,
03:54in a wheelchair,
03:56with his oxygen tube,
03:58confident enough
04:00to let us see
04:02his struggle.
04:04For us, as Catholics,
04:06this is a death in the family.
04:08We didn't call him
04:10Holy Father.
04:12Secondly,
04:14we pray for God's death
04:16and his resurrection
04:18still fresh in our hearts
04:20for consolation
04:22has already been answered
04:24in so many ways.
04:26Now believe me,
04:28I could preach a lot longer
04:30but Pope Francis always complained
04:32about priests preaching too long.
04:34No wonder he was so popular.
04:36You could never meet him
04:41without him asking,
04:43please pray for me.
04:46And that we do.
04:49this high noon
04:51in America's parish church.
04:53Let us pray.
04:55We pray to the Lord.
04:57Lord, hear our prayer.

05:00and most vulnerable
