A cat in a tree, Parkes Lane, Chuckery was rescued by some good people including Steve Parkes, who spotted the cats, J W Window Services , who came with a ladder after the Fire Service and RSPCA said they couldnt help and Purrs Cat Rescue Walsall. We find out more.

00:22so a bit of a story let's uh once upon a time steve was strolling to work from work
00:28to work and then you found one of these little kittens didn't you yeah i found a little benson
00:34and was he just what on the path or where'd you just line on the path i stepped over him initially
00:39then just heard a little squeak from behind me yeah there he was he's shouting you mate he was calling
00:44yeah so what was your first thoughts um call the mom to start with i was just just yeah yeah yeah
00:52couldn't find any more cats that's it there's no mom around no millie around at that point
00:56got him wrapped up stuck in with a teddy yeah and then called uh penny cool so penny then you kind
01:03of get involved and come and grab hold of the little benson yes why is he called benson fill us in
01:09um once i collected him off steve uh on the radio benson boom was playing yeah and he wouldn't stop
01:17crying so he's obviously singing and dancing so the name stuck so great stuff so you take hold of um
01:25little one then little benson and steve you say well when i'm coming out of work i'll have another look
01:31again see if mom's about so you were strolling back you went down come to a pool street chuckery is that
01:39right yeah that's right and uh what did you see uh additionally nothing i was searching the bushes
01:44lower down i thought maybe she'd be on the ground as you would yeah i turned around and just spotted
01:49a little bit of tiny tiny bit of white in the tree i thought maybe it's a pigeon so i've got my phone
01:54out zoomed in and there she was and we're talking like a big tree here in where you know she was 15 18
02:00feet in there yeah and not just that she was up there with her kittens i mean we don't know yet ladies
02:05we're wondering whether she's probably had these kittens in the tree probably yeah so we don't
02:13think she's um a feral cat just by her nature she's she's liking a fuss isn't she yeah yeah so we know
02:21we've got a load of kittens up the tree what happens next we put a plea out on our page yeah and to try
02:29and get somebody to help us and you called the ospca didn't you and was told yeah i was just told no
02:39yeah so we got a load a cat and load of kittens up a tree perched perilously ospca saying no thank you
02:46and um yeah well that's wouldn't even liais with the fire brigade they said it was just said it's we're
02:52an inward bound call sent around they phone cat rescue um yourselves yeah this this may be a point
02:59just to say um there's a lot of money left to the rspc s rspca but you guys do what you do at purr's
03:08rescue there's a lot of these kind of groups isn't there that don't really get funded i'm sure you're
03:14welcome anything you could get yes um and you know a lot of the time you're the ones on the street doing
03:19the doing the grafts so um if people want you to donate to purr's rescue how would they how would
03:24they do that how did they find you they can find us on facebook and instagram got you called purr's

03:53our way there yeah um and then when we got there they'd already rescued so were you just kind of
03:59standing at the bottom of the tree waiting to catch a crawling kitten i just put in the ladder and held
04:04the basket as he was he was bringing down the kit yeah but i mean what while you're waiting the black
04:11one well while you're waiting for him to turn up i suppose you're thinking at any point one of these
04:15might fall out you know and i've got a a little bit yeah but i didn't want to hang around too
04:18much because it was people were starting to like you said don't you know because i was into the
04:22tree yeah oh what's up there so yeah yeah for a little bit first yeah went back a bit later when
04:27it was darker hopefully yeah it was quiet not scare them into action like so we've got millie we got
04:33benson what are the other ones called they haven't been officially named yet one's called molly molly
04:39um for one of steve's uh one of my friend's daughters she was yeah oh she's paying tribute to her that's
04:48a nice animal crisis oh yeah oh that's a nice little way to pay tribute so they're all here now what
04:54what happens now then do they seem okay do they seem healthy they do they seem healthy we're trying to get
05:00mum onto a food that she will eat yeah she's being very fussy yeah and then mum will stay here and
05:09the kittens will continue growing they'll be flea and wormed regular vet checks they'll have their
05:15vaccinations when they get to around nine weeks yeah and then they'll go up for adoption and we should
05:23say actually another part of the story is two of those kittens that are there they were actually born
05:28when they came to the fosterers house here weren't they yes so how about that what a story well well
05:35done to all involved guys and um it's quite easy isn't it just to think oh well i'm on my way to work
05:40and ah someone else will pick that up so hats off to you sir i have cats in my arm there is no way i was
05:46leaving him behind yeah and although it's a happy story this could have all been prevented if mum were
05:51neutered yeah exactly yeah so that's a that's the message to kind of get across without steve they
05:57would not be here now yeah what did your boss say steve when you rocked up at work with a kitten i told
06:01him we got a work mascot he was he was a bit shocked yeah great so where do you work we should give him
