Bengaluru: Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash was allegedly murdered by his wife Pallavi, who reportedly threw chilli powder in his face before stabbing him to death at their residence in HSR Layout. Their daughter Kriti has also been detained as a suspect.

The incident occurred on Sunday at the retired officer’s three-storey home, where he was found lying in a pool of blood. According to police sources, the murder followed a heated argument between the couple, after which Pallavi attacked him. She then made a video call to a friend, allegedly saying, “I have killed the monster.”

Initial investigations suggest ongoing family disputes and a property disagreement in Dandeli may have been motives. Pallavi had earlier approached police with complaints and had staged a sit-in protest when her grievance was not addressed.

Sources also revealed that Pallavi was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia. Om Prakash, 68, was a 1981 batch IPS officer from Bihar and had served as Karnataka’s DGP from March 1, 2015.

Police investigation is ongoing.
