00:00now finally this is a story i know that just popped on here about espn bet i know that sam
00:04you mentioned we're going to talk about this here on social media okay so i'm not positive here how
00:09this is going to work i'm going to require a little bit of an explanation here so they're
00:12calling it mint club which essentially is some sort of way to link uh media or your app with
00:20sports betting i i'm going to need a little bit more here uh in terms of info here how this works
00:25yeah pen entertainment has been one of those companies we've talked about for a long time
00:30when are they going to actually make progress in sports betting they have this partnership with espn
00:35the espn sports betting app so the latest thing they've done here is launch this new feature
00:39called mint club which is only available to those who link their espn and espn bet apps which was
00:46again one of those core you know selling points that they pushed out when they first did this espn
00:52deal it will allow users to track their bets in the espn app as well as espn bet app so if you go
00:58to the espn app to check your scores to check how you know certain players are doing you have all the
01:03bets that you placed in espn in there as well it's kind of similar to what other apps have done but again
01:09you can only do this if you link both apps which is a really uh big thing that espn wants to push here
01:15the last time they talked about account linking which they only launched in november you had only about
01:20230 000 people had done it which is less than one percent of espn users so this is another move to
01:27try to promote people who use the espn app people who use espn's core assets to download this app to
01:33link them together so they can promote more of that personalization you know take more into account of
01:39the teams you like the sports you like and try to feed you offers there it's coming a little late in
01:43the game pen is obviously under a lot of pressure they paid one and a half billion dollars to use espn
01:49it's about a year and a half later and we're just talking about this now but in their case it's
01:53better late than never they want to promote the app they're trying to retool it they just hired a
01:57bunch of execs from fanduel lots of execs from disney as well so they're really trying to push this
02:02out and get ahead of it and that's all while they're in a proxy fight and the proxy fight is centered
02:06around their online sports betting failures and how much money they've wasted so they're really trying
02:11to finally turn it around here and mint club is just the latest kind of offering that is unique
02:17because of their espn partnership we'll see how many people adopt it they announced earnings
02:20in about a month so they're going to hope to get that 230 000 number much much higher
02:26you don't want to have one percent of your users linked so we'll see you know how it's working out
02:30for them in a few months
