Lancashire police and crime commissioner Clive Grunshaw with an update on violence against women
Transcript
00:00For the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire. Now tackling violence against women
00:04and girls is one of the biggest issues that we have, one of the biggest priorities that I have
00:10as Police and Crime Commissioner. Now we know that it goes under-reported and unrecorded and we do
00:19need to encourage far more people to come forward, build up that trust and confidence within the
00:26community that actually we are going to deal with it, we'll take it seriously and make sure that the
00:32support, the right support is in place to tackle the serious issues of violence against women and girls.
00:40Absolutely delighted that we've managed to secure $442,000 for the DRIVE and CARA initiatives
00:49up until Spring 2026 that will make sure that support is in place for families to break the
00:57cycle of abuse within those families and make sure the interventions are absolutely in place.
01:04It's such a blight on society, such a real concern that we have and that in this day and age that we
01:11still have the numbers of incidents of serious violent offences against women and girls within
01:19Lancashire, we need to make sure that we all stand up against that and get the support, get the investment
01:28in place and make sure that we have safety through strength.
