00:00Everybody loves a winner, especially Diddy, because he went out and added another lawyer
00:05to his defense team with his trial looming now less than three weeks away.
00:12But he has added Brian Steele.
00:14Brian Steele just represented Young Thug in his Rico case down in Georgia.
00:21Now, so they got a lot of lawyers now.
00:22They got him.
00:23They got Mark Garagos.
00:25They got Mark Agnifolo.
00:26They've got Tenny Garagos.
00:29But what's the deal?
00:30He's a white guy.
00:31Yeah.
00:32Now, as we told you yesterday, Diddy's team is on the hunt for a black female lawyer.
00:40And there's a reason for that.
00:42I mean, considering who the alleged victims are here and who is going to be on the stand,
00:47there is part of it is no doubt visuals, right, to the jury.
00:52But they also want somebody who's got legal chops.
00:54They need someone who actually can do the legal work that is going to be necessary here.
01:01But look, Brian Steele makes sense because he won a Rico case or Young Thug got probation,
01:08a very long probation, but no more jail time.
01:11And I'm sure to Diddy that looks very attractive.
01:15There is a peril here.
01:18And the peril is what some lawyers call trial by committee, that when there are a lot of lawyers,
01:25you know, usually, you know, they're all pretty strong people.
01:30And these guys are all strong people.
01:32Tenny and all the others are strong.
01:33And you've got to make decisions constantly.
01:37And if the decisions have to be by committee, sometimes that does not go well.
01:43So let me ask you the most obvious case of this that comes up.
01:46Johnny Cochran and OJ.
01:47Right.
01:48So in that case.
01:49Johnny Cochran and OJ ran that case.
01:50But Johnny was the clear lead.
01:54Clear lead.
01:54Clear lead.
01:55But that's unusual.
01:56That's the risk here.
01:57You're bringing, you know, there's really good lawyers in this case.
01:59They're bringing in another good lawyer, Brian Steele.
02:02I don't know that Brian Steele is the kind of guy who takes second chair from somebody, right?
02:06He comes in to run cases.
02:07Now, obviously, that's not going to be the case.
02:09He's brought in for a very specific purpose.
02:10But nevertheless, I think this too many cooks in the kitchen thing could be a problem for them,
02:15depending on how this trial goes.
02:16It's supposed to be a very long trial.
02:18So you want to have a lot of really skilled hands on deck.
02:21But I would still be concerned about that very point.
02:23Does one person have to say, sort of like, let's say it's like a football team.
02:29You're just taking care of this part of the field.
02:31You're taking care of that part of the field.
02:33Yes, but.
02:33Yes, but.
02:34But there's got to be an overall trial strategy.
02:38And what happens in these trials is you've got to make immediate decisions as things unfold.
02:43And sometimes you can't all get together.
02:46And if one person happens to be trying the case when something happens and they're front and center,
02:52they may make a decision that doesn't necessarily dive with somebody else on the team or the strategy itself.
03:00And that's the problem when you do trial by committee.
03:04And you really can't lose any particular witness.
03:08Every witness, you've got to win.
03:10Every witness matters.
03:12Every witness matters.
03:13And we are being told that since we broke the story yesterday about looking for the black female lawyer to add to the team,
03:24they've been getting a lot of resumes.
03:26That's pretty funny.
03:27There's no shortage of talented black female attorneys out there, all of whom I'm sure would love to make a name for themselves.
03:32I mean, we have to look back at OJ, obviously, a trial you know exceptionally well, Harvey.
03:36How many lawyers made their names and developed very impressive careers after that time because they became so well-known in that trial?
03:44Hi, my name is Taylor Eves.
03:47I'm from the West Midlands in the UK.
03:49And the whole situation with Diddy choosing Brian Steele after he initially stated that he wanted to appoint a black female attorney to his defense team
04:04does come across quite shocking as to why he has changed his mind in the 11th hour and gone with Brian Steele instead.
04:14Well, they're still looking for the female lawyer, so it's going to be a big team.
04:18Okay, we've got to move on.
04:20One thing I want to ask you, by the way, if someone comes on really late, does this work that they say, for right now, you only focus on this?
04:31I don't know how they're going to do it.
04:32You focus on this one thing.
04:32Otherwise, I don't know how you do it.
04:34I will tell you this.
04:34I was thinking about this last night.
04:36This is a complicated case, and it takes months and months and months.
04:41You're going to have two weeks away.
04:43I know.
04:44I'm with you.
04:48You're going to have two weeks away.
04:49You're going to have two weeks away.
04:50You're going to have two weeks away.
04:51You're going to have two weeks away.
04:52You're going to have two weeks away.
04:53You're going to have two weeks away.
04:54You're going to have two weeks away.
04:55You're going to have two weeks away.
04:56You're going to have two weeks away.
04:57You're going to have two weeks away.
04:58You're going to have two weeks away.
04:59You're going to have two weeks away.
05:00You're going to have two weeks away.
05:01You're going to have two weeks away.
05:02You're going to have two weeks away.
05:03You're going to have two weeks away.
05:04You're going to have two weeks away.
05:05You're going to have two weeks away.
05:06You're going to have two weeks away.
05:07You're going to have two weeks away.
