00:00Alessandro, it's been almost three years since you last won a race with a big stage of the Giro d'Italia.
00:06How does it feel to be a winner again?
00:09It's super nice. Always win is nice.
00:14It's difficult because, you see, after three years, but we are professional.
00:21We work for this time, this victory, and we work every day of the week for a ride one time, maybe two, three.
00:33But it's difficult for the most of the riders to win, and I'm happy I win again after three years.
00:41Did you know this finale today was very good for you?
00:44Yes, obviously.
00:46When I had in the program this race, I checked, like I do for every race.
00:53I see this finale, and it was a good opportunity.
00:57And with the team, we tried to make the race good for arriving in a small group to the finish,
01:04and we did perfect, and in the last, I win the sprint.
01:08How did you time your last effort?
01:11It was hard, but...
01:14I mean, every race is hard, and it was not only the last effort hard,
01:21but the half part of the race, the final half part, was pretty hard,
01:27and the last kick, full gas from the bottom to the finish.
01:31One last word in Italian.
01:33Questo è successo, rilancia la tua carriera?
01:35Well, I think that, in the end, I had a little bit of luck in the past, but I don't need to look at the present and the future.
01:47So, I've always tried to raise myself, and I'm always trying to return to a good level, and so I think I'm going to look at the present and the future, and not the past.
01:57Complimenti.
01:58Grazie.
03:13Grazie mille.
03:14Alessandro, are you happy with this third place, podium finish in quite a big race?
03:20Yeah, it's an important result.
03:24Obviously, the winning is the win, but even a third place in this kind of race is a great result.
03:31Tell us about the last climb. How did you position yourself? Did you know that Covey was superior? How did you move?
03:39I was in the wheel of Brenner at the start of the climb, because even before, when the seven guys attacked, and me and Tudor also, they were out of that move.
03:52I tried to attack on a small kicker, and I saw that he was going pretty fast, so I was thinking he was the one guy for the finish.
04:04But, yeah, in the end, when I saw the O-18 Emirates at the start of the last two kilometers pulling very hard, I know that Covey is a strong rider for that kind of finish with a great punch.
04:21And when he attacked at 200 meters, he was the strongest, so I didn't have nothing left.
04:28Now that you have this white jersey, are you targeting GC?
04:32Yeah, I will try to defend the third place in GC. Tomorrow is another stage, more or less like this, but the third stage is the one that will decide the GC.
04:45So, we will try to defend the podium in the next days.
04:50As a junior, you were on the podium of the World Championship with Remco Evinepool. What is it like to now race with the Japanese team?
04:59Yeah, there's no difference. I mean, in every team, you have to pedal, and this is what we do and what all the other teams do.
05:08So, it's a great opportunity, and I'm very proud to wear this jersey.
05:12Is the Giro d'Abruzzo a great opportunity for you to step up?
05:17Yeah, I hope so.
05:19Grazie mille.
05:21Amen.
