00:00And in other news, Senator Wannabe Rodante Marcoleta in a quad-com hearing tried to downplay the government's use or designation of the West Philippine Sea,

00:09taunting Coast Guard spokesperson Jay Tariela of international non-recognition of such body of water.

00:15Yesterday's announcement by Google Maps Inc. to identify the West Philippine Sea as such has granted even greater currency to the country's sovereignty and rightful claim to its EEZ.

00:26And all things within us, as our Asaya Mirafuentes reports.

00:44Around 8 o'clock this morning, the Philippine Coast Guard or PCG spotted a Chinese research vessel that was stationary in the waters of Itbayat, Batanes.

00:53The PCG sent multiple radio challenges.

00:56But the Chinese vessel did not yield.

01:07In the video, the ship can be seen not moving at all.

01:10And the Chinese research vessel also did not respond to the radio challenges from the PCG.

01:15The Chinese vessel is named Zongshandek Su.

01:18According to the PCG, it first entered Philippine territory on April 2.

01:22It went in and out and was spotted again this morning.

01:26The China Coast Guard do not have a legal authority to conduct such maritime law enforcement because it falls within our own exclusive economic zone.

01:35Despite this, according to Tariela, the possibility of joint patrols with other countries in the respiratory territorial waters has not yet been discussed.

01:44Yesterday, a Chinese Coast Guard ship was spotted illegally patrolling the waters of Zambales.

01:58The PCG issued repeated radio challenges, but the Chinese Coast Guard vessel, CCG-21612, conducted a dangerous maneuver toward the Philippine vessel.

02:08But I don't think that China Coast Guard will elevate the tension sa ginagawa nilang illegal patrol dito sa part nito ng off the coast of Zambales.

02:18Despite this incident, the Philippine stands firm that it will not be bullied by China's action.

02:24Our nation is a peaceful nation, but our concept of peace should be grounded on justice.

02:32That's why we continuously assert our sovereignty patiently, deliberately, and within the bounds of international law.

02:42Meanwhile, PCG spokesperson, West Philippine Sea, Commodore J. Tariela, expressed his appreciation for the inclusion of the name West Philippine Sea on Google Maps.

02:52Masayin na ako kasi doon sa mga taong magsisabing you cannot even Google West Philippine Sea.

02:59At least pwede na nilang mag-Google, no? Without mentioning his name. Parang yan yung main argument nila eh.
