00:00It's been my nightmare at certain times of my career.
00:02It definitely won't go on for another 450 episodes.
00:06I hope it doesn't.
00:07We hold a lot of judgment and a lot of biases,
00:09and we're asking our audience to examine why.
00:11Emma, it's lovely to meet you.
00:13Thank you so much.
00:14It's so novel, I think, for everyone,
00:16seeing you outside of, obviously, the Grey's Anatomy thing,
00:19and what a project.
00:20I think people are going to start watching it
00:22and think they're seeing one thing
00:23and not realize, like, quite what it is.
00:26So how does it try to tell the viewpoints of everyone
00:31involved in quite a wild story
00:34that I had absolutely no idea about?
00:36Right, it's interesting because it was huge in the United States.
00:39The docu-series was huge in the United States.
00:42And so a lot of people had been watching it.
00:45It had sort of permeated pop culture,
00:47and everybody was fascinated by sort of the idea
00:52of everybody watched the same thing,
00:54but everyone had different opinions as to what had happened.
00:58And so we thought that that was what was compelling
01:01about this story, actually.
01:02I mean, obviously, the events were sort of heartbreaking and sad
01:05surrounding, you know, what happened in the true story.
01:10But really what was fascinating for us as the producers
01:13were that all of these people could watch the same exact thing
01:17or read different articles.
01:21And depending on who was telling the story,
01:24everybody had a different opinion.
01:26Well, they must be wrong, or she must be wrong,
01:30or she's the bad guy, or they must be the bad guys.
01:34No one had seen the same content
01:37and come away thinking the same thing.
01:39And as a sort of content creator, that's gold.
01:43Really, yeah.
01:44You know?
01:44Yeah, you really do think you're seeing something,
01:46and then you guys completely flip it.
01:48And to play with perspective,
01:49and that's really what we're examining in this series
01:52is why we hold the beliefs that we hold.
01:55Why do we watch something?
01:56And examining our own biases,
01:59why do we watch something and believe we know
02:01or we believe what we believe why?
02:04Because we hold a lot of judgment and a lot of biases,
02:07and we're asking our audience to examine why.
02:10And like I said, like, most of us have grown up
02:13seeing you on our screens for most of our lives,
02:16which is lovely.
02:17Yeah.
02:17And so to see you stepping outside of this
02:19is obviously amazing.
02:21But we also hope that you'll continue with the grace.
02:27Like, what are you thinking?
02:29Because it's nice to be able to step away,
02:30like you have done.
02:31Yes.
02:31Keep your hand in one pie and do other things.
02:34But are you hoping that you will always be able
02:36to have a role in some capacity within Grey's Anatomy?
02:39I mean, well, there's so many episodes
02:41that have already been recorded,
02:43so I'm forever a part of that.
02:45It doesn't, we can't possibly,
02:46we can't possibly have more in front of us
02:49than we have behind us, right?
02:50That's true.
02:51So I'm in more of it than not.
02:54It definitely won't go on for another 450 episodes.
02:57I hope it doesn't.
02:59So, you know, I have appeared in seven episodes this season
03:04and I do the voiceover.
03:06And I will appear in seven episodes next season
03:10and do the voiceover.
03:11Yes.
03:12And beyond that, I don't know.
03:14Who knows how long it will go on.
03:17It's one of the most iconic shows on TV.
03:19And, like, I think any actor probably could only dream
03:23of having something like that in, you know,
03:25their back at a moment.
03:25Well, it's a nightmare for a lot of,
03:27it's a lot of actors' worst nightmare.
03:30And it's been my nightmare at certain times of my career,
03:34you know, at certain phases.
03:35But it's gone on so long now that I'm sort of,
03:39I've come out the other side
03:40and I can appreciate it again.
03:42But I've certainly had my moments
03:44where I couldn't believe that it was still going on.
03:47But the opportunity to step away and do something else
03:49has sort of, you know,
03:51has made all the difference for me
03:53just to be able to do something different
03:55and devote less time to that.
03:57I think it's a huge commitment.
03:59It's a huge time commitment.
04:01And it's a lot of doing the same thing
04:03for a long time every day for a lot of years.
04:07So that, you know, wears on you a bit.
04:10So that just getting some breathing room
04:12has been, you know, refreshing for me.
04:14I get that.
04:14I get that.
04:15You know, refreshing for me.
04:15But you've inspired many, many, many.
04:17Yes.
04:18Whether it be in medical or acting.
04:20It's true.
04:20That's always a lovely thing, I think.
04:23Good luck with this, however, as well.
04:24Because, yeah, it's gripping.
04:26It really is.
04:27Thank you so much.
