00:00In the digital world, particularly in social media,
00:04we encounter a lot of different information disorders.
00:07Some of these are considered harmless,
00:10but sometimes they can lead to a complicated and dangerous situation.
00:16That's why we'll talk about the information disorders
00:20that we often encounter here in MIL 101.
00:26Let's start with what the term information disorder means.
00:33It refers to the different kinds of information that circulate around us.
00:39It includes misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation.
00:45Let's discuss them one by one.
00:47The difference is that they are based on the intention and truthfulness of the information being transmitted.
00:52First, misinformation.
00:54It means false information with no bad intentions.
00:59These are the kinds of misinformation that are being transmitted,
01:02but it has no intention to deceive, deceive, or harm anyone.
01:06Most of the time, it is due to unintentional mistakes,
01:10such as mishearing, misunderstanding of a piece of news,
01:14miscalculation, or unverified information.
01:17For example, you heard that drinking hot water can cure diseases.
01:23That's why you shared it with others.
01:25But in reality, it has no scientific basis.
01:29So, that's malicious information.
01:31Misinformation, rather.
01:33Malinformation, or malicious information,
01:37is a type of information disorder that uses real information,
01:42but in a bad way.
01:45For our RSP, for instance,
01:48what they do here is,
01:50an artist said,
01:52or when something happened in his life,
01:56he didn't like it,
01:58or the way he said it,
02:00it's like a curse.
02:02That's malicious information
02:04that often happens in social media.
02:07That's why we need to be careful here.
02:09How does this happen?
02:11When sensitive information is released,
02:14such as private images or details
02:22Another example,
02:23someone posted some personal information
02:25on social media to embarrass him.
02:28What effect does this have on society?
02:30It's hard to know which is the truth and which is not.
02:34Especially when there's a pandemic,
02:36where many people immediately believe
02:39every piece of information they receive
02:41because of panic.
02:43We lose trust in the media,
02:45the government,
02:47and other institutions.
02:49There's a lack of understanding
02:51and communication between people.
02:54Sometimes, we might be exposed to wrong information
02:58that we see online,
03:00especially if it has something to do with health and politics.
03:04And of course,
03:06the disinformation of RSP
03:08has an intention to tell you
03:11the wrong information.
03:13Of course, we need to verify it.
03:16We always verify.
03:18We call it networked disinformation.
03:20It's a broad assurance
03:22that the news you receive is wrong.
03:25That's why we need to avoid
03:28spreading wrong information.
03:31We need to be able to see
03:33where the information comes from.
03:36And if it's from a reliable source.
03:39We also need to verify the information
03:42before we share it.
03:44Before you share any news or information,
03:46make sure it's correct
03:48by checking other sources.
03:51And it should be primary sources.
03:53Be responsible when using social media.
03:56Avoid sharing unconfirmed information.
04:00And don't get carried away by emotions
04:02when you read news.
04:04We should only share the right information.
04:07If you see wrong information,
04:09correct it in a proper way.
04:14Remember, nowadays,
04:16it's very easy to spread information.
04:19That's why it's our responsibility
04:21to ensure that the information we share
04:24is correct and helpful to others.
04:26Be observant
04:28and don't just believe
04:30everything you read or hear.
04:33That's the misinformation,
04:35disinformation, and malinformation
04:38that we talked about this morning
04:40here on EMAIL 101.
