She left a prestigious job at Infosys to cook Maharashtrian vegetarian food. And it all started when her husband was in Paris and hungry…
Transcript
00:00I was working there as a project manager.
00:17I was working there as a software engineer.
00:21Because I was working in an IT company, I was travelling a lot outside India.
00:27And the most, and I will say, the regretting part of it was food.
00:35I was unable to get my own food anywhere.
00:38There was a girl who died because of a boy.
00:54The boy was a vegetarian. The girl was a non-vegetarian.
00:58The boy went to Paris.
01:00And he actually, he was unable to eat.
01:04And the seed of Poorna Brahma actually got implanted in my mind, my heart, my soul, at that moment.
01:12When he wrote a love letter in front of Eiffel Tower, saying that,
01:17Priya Moniz, it's Marathi, but Priya Moniz,
01:22Tujhi aathon ek hai, but tya aadhi khar sangu, khubh bhook lag liye.
01:26And that tear of his is still on that love letter.
01:35When we were travelling back from Australia,
01:45we were unable to tell that we are vegetarian and we are looking for vegetarian food.
01:51And we didn't get veg food throughout our flight.
01:55That day, in that flight, I decided, I am going to start Poorna Brahma now.
02:04My day used to start at 3 o'clock in the morning, ends at 12.30 in the night.
02:35In Poorna Brahma, every employee gets the same salary.
02:39Means, there is no gender bifurcation.
02:42Employee has to eat before they serve to the customer, to the guest.
02:47Employee has to drink water every one hour.
02:53That is called as water therapy.
03:05This got recognized by all parents who used to come to Poorna Brahma,
03:11who are coming to Poorna Brahma and having food with their kids.
03:14If kids don't finish their food, they will come and they will tell us,
03:18they are coming and they are telling us,
03:20please charge us 2% more so that we can tell them,
03:24you are not supposed to waste the food.
03:26We are putting effort.
03:28Ek vada pav ke peeche kam se kam pandra logon ka haath hai.
03:32Kam se kam pandra logon ka ghar chal raha hai.
03:39Serving Maharashtrian food outside Maharashtra was a big responsibility on my head.
03:43Serving this food in India, outside Maharashtra was easy because we are in India.
03:50But outside India, to different countries, it was a big responsibility.
03:57We were actually training customers, our guests, how to eat misal,
04:01how to eat our vada pav, how to eat our zunka bhakar.
04:13We have 48 centers which are home chef centers,
04:18from where we are serving Ganesha's favorite modak.
