00:00A researcher claims to have found Jack Leventreur's identity after having found a 100% DNA match with his suspect.
00:05Jack Leventreur is one of the most enigmatic criminals in history.
00:07Between August and November 1888, he murdered 5 women in the miserable district of Whitechapel in London.
00:12Although many suspects have been mentioned over the years, none have ever been officially recognized guilty.
00:17Among the suspects were members of the high society and doctors.
00:20However, no tangible evidence allowed to make the link between these individuals and the crimes.
00:23In 2014, private detective Russell Edwards claims to have identified Jack Leventreur as Aaron Kosminski,
00:29a 23-year-old Polish barber.
00:30Already a suspect at the time, he had never been found guilty without sufficient evidence.
00:34According to Edwards, the key to the case lies in a bloody shawl found near Catherine Hedow, the 4th victim, in September 1888.
00:40DNA analysis made on this fabric would have revealed a match with Kosminski, as well as with the victim,
00:45reinforcing the hypothesis of his guilt.
00:46His mental disorders and his family history have reinforced suspicions.
00:49Known for his hatred of women, especially prostitutes, he was interned in 1890 after threatening his sister with a knife.
00:55He spent the rest of his life in asylum and died in 1919, leaving the image of a mental patient rather than a criminal.
01:00Today, the descendants of the victims and Aaron Kosminski ask for the reopening of the investigation.
